Remove played songs in history

I think it would be great if spotify made it possible to remove songs and albums and playlists from the "played songs history". As Spotify gives you more and more advice on what to listen to based on what my account have listened to it would be nice to be able to remove all the "smurf hits" and silly christmas songs that your relatives has played with your account.
It would also give me the pleasure of getting a "what you've listened to this year"-list that actually shows me what I've listened to.
Thanks / Magnus

The history feature is handy but sometimes it gets cluttered or filled with songs and artists played while searching for something new but not intended to be listened to again. Please include an option on all devices that lets me wipe out my playback history on Spotify. Currently I can remove songs and albums through the very slow and tedious process of selecting each song individually (why not allow selection of albums?) and then confirming "Clear" -  and there is no way to clear the history of artists recently played at all. I don't see why Spotify would obligate me to keep my history whether I want to or not...even Google lets you clear your history!

I share my iTunes accont with my kids. Many of the songs that they purchase, I do not want in my iphone Library, and I don't want them to play when I have my phone on shuffle. How an I remove unwanted songs from my phone library withot affecting their devices?

These are the downsides of a shared library because if you delete the song from your library it will get also automatically  deleted from your kids library. If you want to proceed then please follow this guide: https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4915

  • How can I remove (holiday) songs so they do not play in the overall shuffle, but are not deleted from my library of songs so I can listen to them again next year?

Hello, I just downloaded holiday music that I only want to hear a couple of days out of the year.  Is there a way to remove these songs from my library so they do not play when I shuffle my entire library, and can I re-call them only during the holiday time?
    Thanks!

If you're looking at your songs on the music page, the very first column before the song name is a check box. Uncheck any songs you don't want to be picked up in your shuffle. I think that'll do the trick.
If you don't want them on your iphone\pod, you can deselect them on your device menu under settings if you turn off "entire music library".

  • When I play songs on my itunes account, they stop after about one minute and itunes goes to the next one.  how do I fix this? These are songs in entire albums that I have purchased.

when I play songs on my itunes account, they stop after about one minute and itunes goes on to the next song.  This is happening with songs on albums I have purchased direclty through itunes

Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the broken files from your iTunes library, go to the iTunes Store home page, click on the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
If you don't see them straight away it may help to close and restart iTunes.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unticked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the report a problem links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • How can I remove individual songs from my iphone 5?

How can I remove individual songs from my iphone 5? Right now, all 2013 songs are syncing. I thought that unchecking the songs in the main itunes playlist would remove them form all devices. Apparently this does not work. Under the uphone 5 sync menu there are no selections for individual songs... only groups of songs. Am I missing something?

I just create a playlist and sync only this playlist.
Then just add/remove from this playlist and sync.
Unchecking songs does other thing such as not playing them in iTunes, not syncing them to other devices and not applying changes

  • How do i remove duplicate songs on my ipod and in my library

how do i remove duplicate songs on my ipod and in my library

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here: Find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership, or that sometimes the same file can be represented by multiple entries in the library and that deleting one and recycling the file will break the other.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.
Fix the library, then syncing should fix the device.

If you mean remove it from your library, use the Delete key.
If you mean remove it from your Purchase History, you can't, but you can hide it.

  • Cannot play songs/videos I purchased in iTunes store

All of a sudden I cannot play songs from the iTunes Store anymore. I buy it, download it, it appears in the list but it won´t play. Trying to convert to AAC gives me error code -208.
I have 4 out of five computers activated.
When I click on a song, it´s title and duration appears on top of the iTunes window but nothing happens then. When I buy a song on my other Mac and move it to my first one it plays with QuickTime. Once imported to iTunes it does not play anymore.
I reinstalled iTunes again - no difference.
All the movies I had within iTunes before and which are still in the folder iTunesMusic/Movies don´t play anymore. They just do nothing. I cannot re-import them into iTunes. Open with iTunes just shows no reaction at all.
Same with some of the songs that played perfectly well before.
Movies create a error message about an invalid public atom and do not play with e.g. Quick Time.
    Any idea?

  • Cannot remove duplicate songs

I'm trying to remove duplicate songs in my Library. Instructions say to select song, "shift" and select "view". "Shift" shows plus sign but when hit, no "view" is listed. I just updated itunes. Help, please! Thanks.

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.

  • Recently played songs

Is there any way that I can list all recently played songs from the Ipod between certain dates? When I try to do it with a smart playlist it just lists the recently played songs from the PC.

Sounds like the playlist has live updates enabled, and the songs are no longer matching all the smart-playlist rules after being played.
Have you modified this smart playlist in any way? Check the rules that it is using (in iTunes) to make sure. I think the default is something like "Last played is in the last 2 weeks".
Another possibility is that you're getting some interference from another smart playlist (one whose rules really should cause tunes to be removed once played). I've seen cases where such a list "overruns" the end of the list, and starts adding things from my Recently Played list - I didn't notice whether that messed up my Recently Played list as well.
In any case, you might be able to fix the problem by disabling live updates on one or more playlists (at the cost of making the lists less useful).

  • ITunes Match won't play songs -- it simply cycles through them.

I have iTunes Match set-up on my iPhone 5. Until yesterday everything was fine. Then, as storage on the phone was getting scarce, I decided to remove all songs that were stored physically on the phone. Now iTunes Match just cycles through songs when I try to play them. I don't know if removing songs from my phone is connected or just a coincidence. Either way it's very frustrating. Any ideas?

It's great -- never had any problems downloading large files or streaming HD video. And, up until yesterday, I had had no problems with iTunes Match. I was wondering if my problems could have something to do with some under-the-hood work they might be doing for the iTunes 11 launch.

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.

  • How to Play Songs in iTune without adding them to my Library?

I've been using iTune for quite sometimes now, and one thing that keep bothering me is that everytime I open a song in iTune, it got added to my Music Library automatically, this isn't what I intend to do in most case, so I have to manually remove the song afterward.
Is there any preference setting that allow me to turn this option off? By the way, I'm using iTune 7.0.2, the most up-to-date version.
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Go to iTunes prefs>Advanced>General> turn off the "copy" option. iTunes will now now copy the files - it will still create a reference to the tune in the library and you will still have to delete the reference if you don't want the tune. I am not sure what the fuss is about removing a tune that you don't want in the library.
It is easiest to let iTunes do the work by having the "Keep + Copy" ooptins selected.
As already noted you can play the tune via the Finder.

  • Sync with Shuffle/can't play songs that are on shuffle

I can no longer play the songs that are on my shuffle when I sync with itunes. Before the update I could select a song and play it before I would remove it.
I can select the song but the play button remains gray. This is no good because I would regularly add and remove songs. I like to give a quick listen before I remove the song. Can't do that now.
    Help?
    thanks in advance

Well I restarted my computer and sync'd my shuffle again for the 3rd time and now it likes it again. All songs play like before now. Still dont know why it did this though?

  • Strange issue - Can't play songs in iTunes 7.5.0.20

I have a strange issue with iTunes 7.5.0.20 on my Windows Vista PC. I can preview songs in the iTunes store, or play songs from my library; however, after a few minutes both functions will stop working. The status bar, showing the song playing, does not move and there is no sound. I can log off, or reboot, and the function comes back for a few minutes and then it is broken again. This is very frustrating. I don't have this issue with other music software on the same PC. I have already done the remove iTunes & reinstall bit. Any other ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

well, after a permission repair and reboot i can delete songs from playlists, but not the library. and syncing an ipod locks the entire system not just iTunes, and iTunes will not be killed.
did 7.5 get tested at all?
