Locate where Reader is on your computer. if its in a directory look for an uninstaller.
If there is no uninstaller, then just locate reader and move to Trash then empty. all the extra components don't take up much space and don't affect other items such as acrobat. so they can be left alone.

  • Cannot remove Reader 9.2

Since trying to install Reader 9.2 I have been unable to print any PDF file. I have finally become so disgusted with Adobe's abysmal support that I decided to remove all Adobe programs from my computer. That's when I discovered that the file I need to uninstall Reader 9.2 is not on my computer  (AdbeRdr920_en_US.msi) -- apparently removed by the install program during or after the installation process. I believe that the installation was incomplete and I now have a mishmash of 9.1 and 9.2 and I CAN'T GET RID OF IT!  Nor will it allow me to download 9.2 again.
If anyone knows how to fix this nightmare, please help.

i also can not remove reader.
the link for ms clean up tool gives instructions that i followed.
the result was i got a pop up of my add or remove programs...where i can not temove the rpogrma in the first place..a vicous circle...
what do i try this 324 attempt?

  • Using Cleaner tool to remove Reader

    I run CS6 Web Premium.
    Installed Adobe reader 11
Can no longer use Adobe pro or Distiller. (after a previous post on this where an "MVP" told me to run the cleaner after removing Reader.)
In spite of this being an ADOBE INSTIGATED BUG
I cannot get support - for a product that is obviously "not fit for purpose".
I am sup[posed to PAY for a support contract so that I can tell Adobe they have a problem???
How much greedier can Adobe get???
How can you spend all this money on a product (have been using since CS3 and all the pathetic upgrades that do little but earn Adobe money). - then get shafted with endless issues that you cannot get support for?
Even Expression Web is better than this...

    Hello,
sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!) http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations. Sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.
So far, so good –I also often gave this advice. This approach only allows to look at the symptoms of this malfunction. Therefore I started a thread “What's up with "Downloading, Installing, Setting Up"?” I asked for a improvement of the product, so it is not necessary to use Cleaner Tool. Preran a member of Adobe’s staff promised "many improvements". Here is the link: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6408998
In order to accelerate the process I therefore call upon you to support my efforts. Most successful could be to click a „like“ in Prerans answer (see consecutive number 11)
    Thanks,
    Hans-Günter

  • Removing Reader 8.1.2

    How do I remove Reader 8.1.2 ?
There is no option to remove, change, install or repair in Control Panel - Add Remove Programs,
    althought it is listed there.
It also has a folder in Program Files / Adobe with 2 subfolders (Reader, Resource)

Use the Acrobat Removal Tool http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
You may need to run it mutliple times until all Reader versions are gone, then reinstall the latest Reader.
Note that the tool will also remove Acrobat if you have it installed on your system.

  • Unable to remove Reader v5

I have an old notebook running win xp sp3 and Reader v5.0. It was once affected by virus but now cleaned with AVG installed. I tried to replace v5.0 with v8.0 (I think it is too old to run the latest version) but after the progress bar, it said that I do not have authority to remove some files, folders (without saying which file/folder). Same problem even if I use a user insider the administrators group. I've checked the system log but didn't find anything relevant. I've checked my authority in the v5.0 installation folder and I have full control. How can I find out what file/folder is having problem, and is there an alternative on removing the v5.0 other than relying on v8 installer?

You could try the following command to remove Reader 5 using an administrative account:
    C:\WindowsDir\ISUNINST.EXE -f"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\NT\Uninst.isu" -y -a -c"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\NT\Uninst.dll"
If you should still have issues removing the program, then try it under the SYSTEM account.
    Good luck!

I strongly recommend that you make a registry backup or System Restore Point before manually modifying the registry.

  • How to remove "Read Only" attribute on folders

    Hi
I am logged in with my User account which has full control over my folders.<o:p></o:p>
I have a folder that I tried to add modifications to, however i could not do so because the folder was classified as read only. I have full permissions to this folder. Previously the app that
uses this folder could write to it quite happily, but today it fails. <o:p></o:p>
The 'attributes' for the folder shows a solid square in the read-only box. If I 'un-box' the read-only and apply > ok, when I look at the attributes again the box is still checked.<o:p></o:p>
So my question is, if it's not (which it shouldn't be) some sort of protected Windows folder, and I have full permissions on the folder (supposedly), why does Windows not respect my wishes,
get out of the way, and let me set it to what I want it to be?<o:p></o:p>
I have tried the following methods to fix this issue, but none of them work:<o:p></o:p>
-Adjusting permissions and control, and changing security options<o:p></o:p>
-Using a third party application such as "clear read only" to remove the check on the box<o:p></o:p>
-Using the "attrib" function on the CMD prompt<o:p></o:p>
-Boot Scan for virus/malware that is affecting folder attributes<o:p></o:p>
-Running applications and CMD as administrator<o:p></o:p>
I have heard that if using a NTFS harddrive, then all folders will be automatically “Read Only” and that it is impossible to change that attribute. I find this hard to believe, as all folders
should have some way of being modified, regardless of what HDD I’m using. I obviously cannot change to FAT32, so how else can I get my folders to get rid of this ridiculous error!
<o:p>I have also noticed that this problem is very common amongst Windows users. If this problem has been around for a while, how is it possible that no solution has presented itself.
Regardless, we need a solution to it, because i can't do the things i need to while the Read Only attribute remains a constant on my folders. I thought it may be a virus, but my avast anti-virus did not pick up any infected areas when the scan was done. I
have searched the internet, and no "fix" has solved this issue. The only fix i have not found is a reg edit that could completely remove this read only attribute from all folders. Though i feel this is not neccesary, as i only need the attribute
to be removed from certain folders. Please kindly assist me with this issue, hopefully it will help many others too...</o:p>
    Many thanks.

Have you taken ownership of the folder? Please first take ownership of the folder, then change the security options

  • Acrobat 9.0 Network install not removing reader or supressing license

I am running a network install created by the customization wizard of Acrobat 9. In the wizard I told it to remove all versions of reader and Acrobat and suppress the user agreement. The program installs but users have to agree ULA, and reader 7 is still there and default.
It seems as though the MST is not being read during the install process. I have checked the setup.ini and it is pointing at the correct MST file. I have also used this same install in other remote offices without issue.
    Any Ideas?

Are you installing the package directly from the .msi file? If so, you'll need to specify your custom transforms by using the transforms property. For example,
    msiexec /i AcroRead.msi transforms=AcroRead.mst /qb

  • Remove Read Mode Hovering Toolbar from Local Installation

You can just jump to the below red colored question if you don't want to read the supporting description.
I prefer to read PDF documents especially long ones in a non-disturbing manner.
More like in a clean look that is trending with cleaner designs in MS Office, Win 8, and others.
Here is an example of kind of view I am talking about that I would like.
We can get up to this point with few simple key stokes, Ctrl+H (Read Mode) would hide your side navigation tab and your main toolbar.
F9 would hide your Menu bar. Now all you have is the title bar, scrolling bar, and the bottom highlighted hovering toolbar.
Granted that yes you can move around the hovering toolbar by simple dragging and that it fades in-out but with any mouse movement it appears back on.
Yes its useful for controls, but if I want any I can just press Ctrl+H and/or F9 and it will bring me all the controls necessary.
I can use full screen mode yes for removing all the excess visuals and purely focus on the document but I can't select text or do any other things unless I come out of the full screen mode, which then destroys the purpose of clean look bringing back to normal look.
    QUESTION
How to remove the Hovering Toolbar from the read mode?
We are not talking about embedding setting in a PDF so that it would do that on any computer but configure my local computer's Adobe Reader so that every time I go into read mode I wouldn't have to see the above highlighted hovering toolbar.
If there is some simple setting to disable it that's great, if I would have to do some destructive work and remove code/files to get rid of the hovering toolbar that's fine too.
    Thanks.

Edit > Preferences > Internet > Display in Read Mode by default

  • Remove reader 7.0

Have been trying to update Reader for months. It won't install because it can't UNinstall its previous self. I have done everything suggested, starting of course with add/remove which says it can't be removed because it can't seem to find its original installation file or some such thing.
I have developed a hatred of Adobe products that rivals my hatred of george w. bush, and that ain't small.
I resent having to use software that wraps itself around the inner workings of my computer making it virtually impossible to remove...and then to be told that I have to PAY for support.
If anyone knows how to remove this piece of garbage so that I can install the, by now, many iterations past upgrade, please let me know. Once I can stop grinding my teeth, I will thank you profusely.
This is a Dell 4600, 512 mg RAM, 120 gb, HP Photosmart C4180 printer (though why that is important I do not know of course), XP Pro sp 2.

  • Access denied while manually removing reader 8.x

While following the instructions for manually removing Adobe Reader 8.x as posted here:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/400/kb400769.html
when I try to delete AcroIEHelper.dll, AcroPDF.dll, and pdfshell.dll as per the instructions, I get "Access denied".
I am running XP SP3, logged on under administrator, running in diagnostic mode, and explorer.exe has been terminated.  I have also tried deleting these in safe mode under the same conditions.
I'm not sure what has these locked.  Any suggestions as to what I should try?
    Thanks.

    Mike,
Thank you for responding!  I tried running that on a testbed/sandbox machine to test it out before using this fix on a live machine, and it resulted in me NOT being able to reinstall any Adobe Reader, any version, at all.  When I tried to reinstall 8.1.x or 9.x, the download manager just reported that it was "unable to install" with not much else to go on.
It also left the Adobe Reader add-on installed in Firefox, and there was no way to uninstall it.
I'd love to try using the MS Installer Clean-up tool if I could understand exactly how I should proceed with it - exactly what steps I need to take.
Can you help me here?  Again, I appreciate your response and look forward to getting this problem behind me!
    Thanks!
