Remove reference to Publishing Feature from site template

Hi all, I have a custom site collection which I package as a wsp to deploy as a custom solution template to multiple sites.
Accidentally, years ago I've activated Publishing Features in my site template and then disabled them. I still work and create new templates from my site without any problems (ShP 2010).
Now, I've installed SharePoint 2013 and updated my site template to 2013. Then, I've created the new wsp but when I try to apply my template to a new site collection I receive an error message: "Failed to instantiate file "AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml"
from module "Style LibraryMedia Player_Features\PublishingResources": Source path "Features\PublishingResources\AlternateMediaPlayer.xaml" not found."
How could I remove all the reference to features belonging to Publishing Features?

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to remove reference to publishing feature from site template in SharePoint 2013.
You can do as the followings:
extract all files from WSP file by (a tool or) changing the wsp file to cab file and then extract all files to a working folder.
edit the Onet.xml file to remove the unsupported features and save the changes.
create a ddf file for makecab.exe to repack the wsp
run cmd: makecab /f my.ddf to generate the new WSP file

MMTracking.swf - how do I remove references to it?

I've just built a course in Captivate 5 for a client, who has now uploaded the course to their LMS.
The course includes a button on the last page which has a score of 1 attached to it. This score is being used to set a pass/fail for the course. You can only reach the last page if you have been through every page of the course. I've tested the course in SCORM Cloud and it worked perfectly in that site.
My client has reported that the course is not acting as expected in their LMS, because the course is looking for a file called ‘MMTracking.swf’ when it is opened. This file is not included in the published course files.
I've read through the Forum and have read a number of times that this file is not needed and the course should work in an LMS regardless of this file. A number of posts suggest removing references to it. I'm not sure how to do this.
So I want to know why the course references is at all? And how do I safely remove references to it?

Does anyone know how to remove references to facebook and Twitter from the settings and "share" feature screens?

I don't use facebook or Twitter and I shouldn't have to see references to them in the settings section or the "share" dropdowns of Safari, the photo management screens, or anywhere else. Can anyone tell me how to remove these references?

To the best of my knowledge you can't.
You can try going into the settings and restrictions and turn them off and see if that makes the icons disappear (probably won't) but there's no way to select the icons you want.

Changing default workspace removes reference to AIR SDK

Hi
When I change my default workspace to a custom workspace, it removes the reference to the AIR SDK under Preferences -> Flash Builder - > Installed AIR SDK, and won't allow me to add it back in.
The text field is not editable, so I can't type the file location. It should be set to:
/Applications/Adobe Flash Builder 4.7/eclipse/plugins/com.adobe.flash.compiler_4.7.0.345990/AIRSDK
but as you can see in attached screenshot, it appears blank, which results in build errors.
Anyway I can change this?

Hi Dan,
I checked this on my machine. In my custom workspace, evrthing seems to work fine. I am able to import AS projects created in my default workspace. Also, i am able to successfully create new AS and AS mobile projects in my custom workspace. Reference to the AIR SDK is intact and projects are compiling fine.
Is there anything else you did before/after switching the workspace? Probably, changed the installed AIR SDK structure or something similar?

How to remove reference to workgroup?

After manually upgrading OS on my Air, it will only work in "Safe mode". I bought my Air from previous employer, it was set up as part of "Workgroup", and there are lots of references to that workgroup. I'm not sure how to remove all these references.
For instance: the "Software update" in the apple menu, points to an domain controlled by previous employer.
Any advice welcome

The workgroup has nothing to do with your air not working in a normal boot.
You need to completely wipe the drive then reinstall OS X and programs. You need to remove all references of your employer and the only way to do that is to wipe the drive and reinstall everything clean.

Problems when removing reference of a key-figure structure

While working in the query designer, when I remove the reference from a globally used key-figure structure (using the context menu of the structure) for some editing, the query output is then not the same as it use to be when the reference was not removed.
Do we need to maintain any setting or activate/generate the KF structure once it is changed from its initial state (like in the above case I discussed).
My Exact problem : - I have a input ready key figure (for planning) that remains input ready when the query is executed without removing the reference from the structure, however when i remove the reference from the structure, it becomes non-input ready.
Please suggest.

Audio Unit Manager: How to remove references to deleted files?

I upgraded my NI software. Replaced Guitar Rig 4 with Guitar Rig 5.
Removed the Guitar Rig 4 components from both system and user Audio/Plugins/Components
directories.
The now-removed plug-ins are still showing in Logic's Audio Unit Manager. Of course they fail validation,
and aren't used. But, leaves a messy listing, and causes other programs (Live, Kore) to also list them try to valid,
and fail.
Any ideas on how to remove these references??

I would love to know this too. I have the worst plug in in the world ( Universal UVI Player) haging around my system although I removed it from all "visible' places.

How to remove reference line measurements on Walls drawn in VISIO

HI, I have Visio 2007 and we draw pictures using walls, recently I have found that walls all have refernece line with the measurement of the wall displayed. I can not turn this reference line off, so when they print every wall has a measurement next to it.
I have tried the Set Display options, I have tried line properties. Nothing seems to work.
HELP PLEASE, this is driving me crazy and I can not get work sent out to clients with these measurements all over them :-(

and scroll down to the User-defined cells section, there you will find a cell called User.visBESelected.
In the Value cell type:

need help with itunes 12.1
my itunes was working just fine on my windows 7 pro PC.
Update 12.1 popped up and I clicked download and install and now all of my itunes is gone.
I uninstalled all Apple software packages, and also pain stakingly went thru my registry line by line and deleted all references to itunes, apple, quicktime, etc., then downloaded fresh downloads of the installer and each time I get just about to the end of the installer and a window pops up and says
"the older version of itunes cannot be removed. contact your technical support.
So, I tried downloading the previous version 11.4 and 10.7 64bit installers and then the system won't even get started doing an install when the system responds...
"a newer version of itunes is already installed", and the installer quits.
I have cleaned my registry now about 5 times, I ran all of the apps to clean my PC of all of the apple and itune files. I am an administrator on my PC. I also went as far as creating a second administrator and switching under that account and still get the same responses.
I have removed any attached external drives and tried the installer.
I have tried to install itunes under a different folder location instead of the default C:\Program Files directory.
I have tried to install via the Apple Software Upgrade utility as well as direct downloads of the installers.
All of my music is gone.
When I run the installer now, all of the other apple software files install ok, with the exception of itunes. It gets nearly complete when the "older version" error comes up then I notice it backs off the installation and no files or directories are created.
There is nothing in the Control Panel 'Add/Remove Programs' as far as iTunes, their are no directories or files, yet it still sees a old version of itunes referenced in some file on the pc.
I ran a couple of utilities such as CCleaner, Everything, Revo Uninstaller and Registry Reviver, as well as going thru regedit line by line for hours to remove references to apple and itunes - all still with the same results.
Either I get a 'the older version cannot be removed' or 'a newer version of itunes is already installed'
very frustrated.
anyone have a installer that will complete ignoring any errors?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you are running 64-bit Windows and the above steps haven't helped try installing the version of iTunes that can be downloaded from this support document. iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)

I need to find domain controllers that have been removed but never demoted.
Here's the story...
I came on an Active Directory administrator for an organization which has 600+ domain controllers, most running Server 2003, but I have some Server 2008R2. Throughout all this time the organization has had DCs that have stopped working, crashed or failed
for some reason and all the IT department has done is created another domain controller name it the same thing with an (A), (B) appended to the name and then never removed any of the failed controllers from the directory.
Thing is this has been going on for quite some time, don’t know for sure how long as I am still trying to clean up DNS replication problems and have been having to go around and reset machine passwords for the forest. What I need to be able to do is to script
something that will return all the failed DCs so that I can go into the directory and use NTDUTIL to clean the machines. I don’t want to go into the directory and remove a machine that’s still out there. No one in the organization has a list or record of failed
machines.
You can see this may be a gargantuan task, but I need to be able to make it easier on
myself by finding the machines first and cleaning out DNS, cleaning the DCs out of the “Sites” and cleaning them out of the directory.
Appreciate any help I can get…

Error While removing a Formula

hi Xperts,
I have a Global Structure(in column) in that i want to replace a Formula,when i am deleting that it gives an error Message.
"FormulaName" Still Being Used,Do you want further details?when i clicked Yes.
Its Showing a WhereUsedList in that Webtemplate.But i am not able to Delete the Formula.I checked the Webtemplate its Linked to Query not to the Formula.
How to Solve this Problem?

if u wan t remove the formual from global structure right from context menu select option"remove reference".
After that try to remove your formula.
"remove reference " functionality is included from FEP13(front end patch).

DTD reference not avaiable

Hi,
Since yesterday we observe that http://java.sun.com/dtd/ URL is responding very badly.
Most of the time connection times out or reset. I tried from different different network and same issue observed.
Because of this application build fails.
Is there any forum where sun[oracle] acknowledges the downtime maintenance or issue and by when it will get resolved.
We are using some product and cant remove reference from the web.xml of product file.
Any guidance on this will be appreciated.

You ought to cache that file locally rather than relying on it being available 24-7 on the web.

I faced one problem while I was doing heapdump analysis.I had to find memory leak suspect.
Somewhere in parent node I have found soft reference.
My question is that why we need reference in java?
and why IBM jdk1.4.2 and above have inbulit class like
softreference
weakreference
phatomreference

These Reference objects have special ways of interacting with the garbage collecor. A normal reference is, in comparison, called a "hard" reference. If an object is only reachable through a special reference it is said to be "softly reachable" or the like, and the garbage collector can collect it. When this happens the reference object is cleared, and will return null if you try to acccess the object through it.
SoftReference tells the garbage collector "On the whole I'd like you to hang on to this, but feal free to delete it if you're short of space."
Weakly and Phantom reachable objects are collected as normal.
A typical use of a WeakReference is when you want to hold onto a pointer to an object as long as that object exists, but allow it to be collected when there are no other references. For example, some object might listen for events on some window, but if you abandon the object you don't want the listener to prevent the object being disposed of.
A typical use of a SoftReference is when you've arrived at some sizable data object through a moderately expensive process e.g. retrieving it from a database. You can rebuild it if it's lost, but you can save time if it's still there when you want it again.
A PhantomReference is used instead of finalize(). You can arrange for references to be added to a queue when cleared, and you can have a background thread removing references from the queue and doing what you like with them. By extending the Reference type you can store information needed for a clean-up.
