Remove rented movie

The expired rented movies didn't removed automatically. How to remove it manually?

You are probably seeing the history only.
Check if movie is taking up space here:

  • How to remove rented Movies

I can't seem to remove a rented movie that I've watched. It usually just removes itself after the time period but it's still displaying on my ipod touch as "invalid"...any suggestions

While in your in the video app (where you can find the Movies, PodCasts, TV Shows) tap and hold rental for 3 seconds or so and then tap the little red "X" when it pops up.
    Hope this helps

  • 2.1 update doesn't remove rented movies when they expire

I recently rented and watched a movie on my first gen iPhone with the 2.1 update. This morning I got the notice that the 24 hour period had expired. So far, just like normal. The problem now is that the movie is still on my iPhone, taking up space. I've been unable to find any (easy) way to get the movie off of the phone. I could reset the phone, but that seems like such a drastic move.
Anybody else seeing this? I've rented lots of movies with previous firmware versions, and they've all gone away when their time was up.

Me too. I am on firmware 2.1 but this was my first rented movie so no idea if it behaved on other versions. Anyone solved this? Im thinking a restore?

  • How do I remove the password step when renting movies?

    Hi Guys,
How do I remove the password step when renting movies? I find the interface tedious and would like to eliminate this step.
I figure I can police my account through my receipts from iTunes which are always itemised.
Is there a place I can change the preferences to automatically allow downloads in my apple TV?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Chuck

It actually asked last time I made a rental.
Can't remember right now if there's an option in iTunes store Settings on the unit.
Will check when I find my remote!

  • IPod touch won't remove expired rented movies

ipod touch 2nd gen won't get rid of my rented movies that have expired. When I hit the video button, the movies show up and then disappear, so I don't have time to hit the button to delete them. As a result, my iPod is getting clogged up and I don't know how to get it removed. I need to figure out how to clear up the memory. Anyone have an answer?

    Hello Gcaz,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try this:
    1. Open iTunes and have the device attached.
    2. Click on the iPod Touch device in the left panel.
    3. Click Summary.
    4. Check Manually manage movies and music.
    5. Click the drop down arrow to the left of the iPod Touch icon.
    6. Click Rented Movies.
    7. Try deleting the unwanted movies again.
    See if that helps.

  • HT1657 How do we remove sub titles on a rented movie?

How do we remove subtitles from a rented movie?

Unless they are always shown on the film (does the film's description page in the store say anything about them ?), then you should be able to turn them off : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5562

  • I can't remove a rented movie from my iphone

    The movie has expired.
I have synced the phone a couple of times and it is still on there.
I have held down the sleep and home key at the same time until the apple appears.
I have uncheck the option to manually manage music and videos.
I was hoping to not have to push the restore button to get rid of a movie.

try syncing your phone a couple times and opening the "rented movies" item under the phone's entry in itunes. the first time i opened it my movie, which had expired a week ago was still there. then i undocked, re-docked and synced, and the rented movie was gone and 1+GB of free space appeared. I had synced the phone several times since the movie expired, so i think the difference was opening the rented movies entry.

  • Rented movies on ATV2, can't play- An error occurred  loading this content.

When I attempt to play the two movies on ATV (Gen 2) I rented, I receive the error:
An error occurred loading this content. Try again later.
No other messages display, and it is not clear what to do next, or how to fix this issue.
I tried the following to solve:
    - latest updates for ATV (I'm on version 4.2.1(2100))
    - unplugging power, then plugging back in
    - stop "Home Share" on ATV, then turn back on
    - log out of iTunes account on ATV, then log back in
    I've yet to try:
    - reset on the ATV (on the General menu)
    - setting back to factory defaults (on the General menu)
I have not tried the above two, since the ATV is 2 days old and honestly did not think I needed to do this.
I have two Windows computers, one with Vista, one with version 7. Both have iTunes 10.2.1.1 installed. I have iTunes "Home Sharing on" for both computers, including the ATV. I can see my iTunes library on the ATV and play music; I can also play iTunes radio just fine with the ATV. I've been able to access my NetFlix account and stream movies just fine with NetFlix.
I was able to purchse the movies, but not able to play on the ATV; thus, I seem to be able to get to iTunes since I could at least rent movies.
Is there anything major to double check to make sure I've set everything up right? The book that came with ATV looked pretty plug-n-play, but I cannot get this to work (playing videos). I also have an iPhone that I just purchased- I've plugged this into the Vista computer to do sync's and get updates, but don't have it plugged in on a reqular basis.
What am I missing to try and troubleshoot?
    Thanks much!

I bought apple tv a few weeks ago. It worked to start with but was very slow and not really usable as when you picked a movie it would take anything from 20 mins to 6 hours to start. I assumed it would to memory but it doesn't so you have to sit and wait for it to start which renders it completely useless.
Then came a software update about a week ago. Since then it no longer loads rented movies. After I have paid for the movie it says press play. After that it says "unable to load content, try later"
I emailed apple support. They dont know what the problem is so they refunded my money and removed the films from my apple tv.
Apple also asked questions About my iTunes version etc which is completely stupid as this has nothing to do with itunes as apple tv is 100% independant and designed as a stand alone device.
My advise- I will get a refund and use the money to buy apple tv 1 from ebay as it has a hard drive and loads movies in the background rather than using a stream.

  • How do i get rid of old rented movies that are a week over due when it was only a one day rental?

hi, i have been trying to get rid of my rented movies that keep wanting to download and they are using up all my space on the ipod. because of this i have to restore my ipod every time i try to use it because of the two movies "The Proposal" and "Me, Myself, and Irene" and it is keeping me from watching a newly rented movie "Beowulf". i would like it if the two movies "The Proposal" and "Me,Myself, and Irene" were wiped off of my account so that i mat proceed with watching my other movies. this has been a hassle for me long enough. so please take the first two movies i mentioned off of my downlods list on my itunes account but not "Beowulf". thank you.

Favicons usually expire after some time, but I don't know how long this takes.
    See also:
    *Bookmark Favicon Changer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/bookmark-favicon-changer/
Try to remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the affected files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

  • On rented movies, why do subtitles remain onscreen, even after the foreign language part is over?

I've never had this problem before, until the last two movies I've rented. Subtitles come on during a foreign language part, and then remain onscreen indefinitely. I've turned off closed captioning on both my Apple TV and on my TV, to no avail.
I would think the subtitles would be 'embedded' in the movie (as part of the movie image); these appear to be closed captioning, generated by the Apple TV or myTV.
Pretty annoying. Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thx

I see the same problem. In fact you can see the movie if you click on the arrow next to the iPhone icon under "Devices" in iTunes. then click on "rented movies". the old movie will still be there, although you can't remove it or even un-check it. My guess is that it will delete itself after the rental period, but this is clearly a bug. To avoid this in the future I will try to move the video off my iphone before deleting.

  • My ATV Won't  Authorize Rented Movies..please help...everything else works

I recently hooked up my ATV to my network (with an Ethernet cable not wireless). It worked great..allowed me to purchase music, purchase tv shows, and synced great with my iTunes on my mac book. I can browse YouTube, watch movie previews. The problem is when I rent a movie the ATV will allow me to rent the movie...iTunes charges my credit card..i can even download the movie but when I try to play the movie i get the message "Your Apple TV is not Authorized to play this content." I spent two hours on the phone with Tech support and emailed back and forth with iTunes support with no resolution. I really don't think anything is wrong with the ATV but who knows. I even hooked the ATV directly to my modem (Charter Cable is my ISP) and got the same results. Very frustrating. Has anyone else had similar problems with their ATV?

Same problem - any/all purchased content EXCEPT rented movies will play on our new Apple TV2.
We have latest updates, we've tried multiple iTunes accounts, we've deauthorized/authorized, unplugged, factory reset, re-downloaded, removed 'special characters' form our passwords, turned of wireless on the Airport extreme, double checked my location is USA and is my billing address (see below...) etc. etc. etc. Have spent HOURS on the phone with Apple to no avail - they offered to escalate to engineering which would take another 3-5 days. The folks on the phone are pleasant, but it's clear they really don't understand the DRM model or have any other options.
So, the l reason I post is this - of those who can play purchased content (so we know the network, their accounts, etc. are all valid) but can't play RENTED movies - what do we have in common? Why can we order, pay for, and download but not play rented content?
Here's some nits I can dream up might be issues - any patterns out there?
    * I'm using Verizon DSL
    * I'm using an Apple AirPort Extreme (I gave up on the strict NATing of our Sonic Wall which seemed to break movie previews of all things....)
    * We live in Washington DC (notably, not one of the 50 states - could it be that silly?)
    * I don't think the anyone is proxy'ing all my traffic (ala man-in-middle attack) but at this point, who knows?

Welcome to the Apple Community Jebson.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
        1.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
        2.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
        3.    Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
        4.    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
        5.    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
