Remove right bar in Adobe Reader X 10.1.7

Hi,
after the installation of the Reader X a new tool bar has arrived on the right side. Earlier it was possible to collapse the left toolbar, but this one seems impossible to collapse or remove.
Is there a Windows registry value or a setting in the program which can be used?

In advance, please excuse the use of emoticons.
The interface is unintuitive to the uninitiated.   And "It has been that way ..." reminds me of the "secret handshake" of Fred Flintstone's Lodge.
Those three words/phrases are shown neither as icons nor as buttons, so do not follow GUI standards for available actions. And while tool tips appear above them upon suitable hovering, the tips are little more than a repeat of the words/phrases, and do not indicate the opening of a pane/frame. Nor is there context-sensitive help either on the words or the panes. The panes themselves are not labeled, nor does hovering render a tool tip, so they remain anonymous. And as indicated above, an would have helped to close -- though it would not contribute to understanding.
Like too many other software developers, Adobe concentrates on adding functionality without making the product more usable in either its present form or its next generation.   This long-time software guy (me/myself/I) laments such adolescent focus.
Unfortunately for Adobe, the situation contributes to annoying, frustrating and repelling newcomers who would like to go to the next level without requisite total technological immersion.   Could a person not just go ahead and learn such an 'easy' tradition? Of course, but does this tradition apply similarly to all Adobe products? Must a person learn such idiosyncrasies about all software products and suites from all manufacturers?  The casual user simply has not enough time to do so for the multiplicity of packages used over their many generations on multiple platforms.
Or so I perceive.
With regards.

  • Reader Extension rights problem in Adobe Reader 9.x

    Hi Experts,
I was working on ADLC 8.2.3 version shipped by SAP.
    I am using reader 9.X
My Development have one data source being used by 2 different dynamic forms where forms content enable and disable dynamically based on user inputs.
Every time I save the form with data changes it saves as a new version. no problem with this.
When I create for the 1st time v 0001 is created.
now I open 0001 edit and save V 0002 is created.
Again when I open V0002 to edit the following message is displayed.
"This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
This is been happening very recently and only with form 2,  form 1 works fine.
Also when I searched this error i found that it was bug in reader 8.1.. and a patch is relased on top of it, but i am using 9.X.
Couple of Adobe fourms says this happens if the ADS server and the client with adobe reader are in different timestamp and zones this causes the problem, but i check with our basis both are in same location and time stamps.
Can somebody help me what was the reason behind.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai Krishna.

    Hi Chinta,
This the development in CRM 7.0 using webrequest which uses ZCI layout.
Towards this web request I have form 1 and form 2 which are basically request category views of Adobe form layout.
In CRM UI we have a button on click of it, form1 is poped up in a window with edit mode and in version 0001.
in init method of the badi impl we fetch data for application object and set values to the webrequest fields.
Based on these fields value form enable and disable subforms on form ready event.
User fills in the form he then either saves it as draft or final submit (for this I have a flag field based on this value I make the entire form sections as protected). in either of the events form1 is saved with this version 0001.
Now user will have dropdowns with versions and form names.
Here he can see only one version 0001 in version Dropdown and 2 different forms in view dropdowns.
He selects the version 0001 and form2.
click on edit, the form2 is opened in edit mode, some of the fields data come from form1 and init methods, these values again make the form content visibility dynamically. Also we have couple of dynamic rods added etc as we do normally in adobe forms.
again he saves it draft or final submit (again here based on a flag value we make the form content protected), so here say he saves it as draft. Now this is saved as version 0002.
Note: version is on web request structure so for every change to the data it will create a new version and every version is linked to these defined forms.
So now in CRm UI user can see 2 versions and 2 forms for each version.
User selects version 0002 & form2 and clicks on edit.
Screen refreshes and should open the form2 in edit mode to continue, but here i get a popup message as detailed in this theread early post.
I tried to put the explanation as detailed as possible,
Please let me know if you need more info.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai

  • How do I turn turn off the right pane in Adobe Reader XI?

I have been using Adobe Reader since 2007, and recently I have been unable to turn off the right pane while reading. If anyone knows how I can deal with this problem, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Don Randall

How To Turn Off The Right Pane
To stop the "Tools|Comments" sidebar from automatically opening every time you open a PDF so that you can view your PDF in full screen, this solution worked for me on both my desktop PC and laptop.
    This is the solution:
    Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Services (for win7 64-bit) or C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\Services (for win7 32-bit)
Find and Delete these 2 files: DEXShare.spi and DEXEchoSign.spi
Yes, you will still see the word "Tools| Comments" at the top but at least your PDFs will open in full screen and you won't have to click "Tools" to hide that stupid sidebar every time you open a PDF.

    Hi R3van,
I can understand your concern & I am sorry to say that there no such option available right now in Adobe Acrobat DC.
However you can fill up the feature request form at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form .
In case if you have any other query please let us know. We will be happy to help you.

  • Remove an update for Adobe Reader

    Hi everyone,
I have searched around and couldn't find an answer regarding this... I would like to remove update 11.0.10 for Adobe Reader. I need to do this in order to test some of our in-house applications.
I would like to remove the update only, not the whole Adobe Reader application since we might have to push a solution to thousands of people.
I tried multiple MSIEXEC.EXE commands to uninstall the patch but always get an error stating that this patch cannot be uninstalled. is it true? Am I forced to uninstall the whole product?
    Thanks for your help

I should say so, yes. I don't think Adobe Reader does the necessary thing of keeping copies of all modules at all versions so you can roll back selectively.
You could probably slipstream patches into the original 11.0 installer to make a single install, using normal Windows Installer techniques.

  • What happened to the Scroll Bars in Adobe Reader 11.0.09

The help file (such as it is) says "Use the vertical scroll bars to move up and down the pages or the horizontal scroll bars to move across the page." BUT THERE AREN'T ANY SCROLL BARS.  I have gone all through the menus and cannot find any way to display the scroll bars.  They always used to be there when the page extended beyond the screen, but now they are gone.  The alternative of trying to use the hand tool to grab and drag a page is awkward at best.

    Hi N4AOF,
Are you experiencing this issue with any particular PDF file or with all the PDF files?
Can you check this with different PDF files .

  • Convert to PDF add-in removed by download of Adobe Reader 9

Has anyone experienced and been able to resolve the problem of the "Convert to PDF" add-in being removed from Office 2003 software (e.g. Word, Excel) on a Vaio laptop using XP Professional as operating system?
The same seems to have happened on my other Vaio laptop with Vista Home Premium.
The problem is not that the add-ins have been disabled - rather they appear to have been removed altogether.

    Thank you, Aandi.
    Agree on first two points.
The add-ins were part of the Vaio/XP Professional and Vista Home Premium packages, whether part of Acrobat or not. The packages also included earlier versions of Reader. All this worked fine until Reader 9 came along.
Not technically minded, so forgive following questions, and many thanks in advance if you have time to reply:
    1. Is Acrobat free? Or: how do I re-install Acrobat?
    2. Is it possible to read PDFs with Acrobat?

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.03 update

Simple nuisance really - I had Adobe Reader 11.0.03 update installed when I first received the notification.  It successfully installed, so I believe when I select the About menu item and it indicates such.
Why then, every week since then, I get an update notification for Adobe Reader 11.0.03.  I installed it every time for the first couple weeks thinking it was a valid update and not paying attention to the release number.  The release number has been 11.0.03 for quite a while and I now realize something is not right.
FWIW - Adobe Reader works fine on my machine.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

If you're using Windows, 11.0.5 is the latest version (11.0.4 was a software update and 11.0.5 was a security fix)
You can download the FULL installer here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
FIRST, you'll want to download and run the Adobe Cleaner to remove the old version.  http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
