Remove screen savers

I erroneously added jpg pictures to the Screen Saver application by right clicking them. I have removed all known copies from my hard drive - but they are still in the System Preferences screensaver application. I have looked, and the folder /Library/Screen Savers is empty, and I cannot find any other folders named "Screen Saver" or "Screensavers" on my HD. Where are they hiding, and how do I remove them?

Thanks - but did not work. Removed com.apple.desktop.plist, logged out - and screensavers still in System Preferences > Desktop & Screen savers application. Also, while I think I saved the items by right-clicking on them, they never appeared on the Desktop (left) side of the Desktop & Screen Saver application (that is, the desktop side,) they only show on the Screen Saver side, the right side.
that sounds very strange. there is no option to do that when you right-click on an image. are you sure you didn't do anything else? did you import those things in iphoto maybe? iphoto albums will all show up in as screensaver options. Open iphoto and delete those pictures from there.

  • "Ken Burns" and other photo screen savers scramble my display

I have a three-display Mac Pro which I have just upgraded to Mavericks.   My rightmost display is a Dell P2012H rotated 90º, and every time a photo-based screen saver activates, that display gets scrambled.  While the screen saver is running it looks like one of those tile-shifting puzzles being randomized, except instead of a single image it's a combination of the desktop and whatever screensaver image was being displayed.  When the screensaver deactivates, the display stays in whatever state it was last in while the screen saver was running, making that display completely useless.  In order to reset it I have to switch resolutions and then switch back.
If I un-rotate the display, or use a non-photo screen saver (such as Flurry) then everything's fine.
It looks like the problem may be display-driver specific, as I've tried rotating one of my other displays (A Samsung SyncMaster) and that does not experience the same problem.
This looks like a bug in the screen savers or in the display rotation code.  Anyone else see this?  I can probably live without the photo screen savers, but I'm wondering if I'm going to run into any other screen rotation bugs in Mavericks.

“...not use Ken Burns with vertically oriented photos...” -- WHAT!?!?!?!?!?! You’re kidding, right?
...I’m sorry, but personally, after Apple made the Ken Burn Effect completely USELESS for “portrait” oriented photos, I was both astonished and outraged, and have been hoping for a TRUE fix ever since. Sure, for video, later versions of iMovie do some nice things, but why on earth would Apple all of a sudden have made the Ken Burn Effect viable for only half of my photographs?!? I’ve created several DVD slideshows, most of them containing 80-90% still photos, and I am insulted by the suggestion that “padding” photographs (adding black to the sides of every “portrait” photo), via Automator or not, is the answer -- that is utter ridiculousness -- that feature should never have been removed in the first place!!! (ADD features Apple, don’t REMOVE them!!!) The only thing that would entice me to upgrade to iLife 11 would be having this simple, but to me, absolutely necessary functionality back.
...So, can you tell me if the Ken Burns Effect has been fixed in the latest iLife 11 version of iMovie to treat ALL photos equally?

  • I want to delete all firefox screen savers

They are black and white no colours except the fox and I do not want aNY of them I have tried going to the folder - roaming mozilla firefox and deleting - but thaT DOES NOT WORK - i SET UP wINDOWS and they are what I want - windows themes are real pictures
So how do I get rid of all firefox screen savers that I do not use or want -
There are other browsers you know

hello, firefox doesn't include any screensavers... from your system details it looks like there is quite a bunch of possibly unwanted adware programs present on your system. maybe one of them is causing those issues.
please go to ''firefox > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • Facebook albums in Screen savers

How to remove facebook albums from list of screen savers albums in Preferences...???

    That's a feature, not a bug. Really.
It's been like that since 10.5 Leopard, if I recall. I use this feature all the time.
It's the same with the desktop.

  • Random use of screen savers

    Morning.
How can I limit the screen savers used in random mode to only a determined few?
    TIA and kind regards, Friedrich
    MBP 2CD 2.16 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1 GB RAM

    Hi, Friedrich.
Only by removing the undesired screen savers, which I do not recommend since it's a hack.
Screen Savers are generally installed in one of the following three folders:
    1. Screen savers bundled with Mac OS X are found in the Computer > Macintosh HD > System > Library > Screen Savers folder.
    2. Third-party screen savers would likely install themselves in the Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Screen Savers folder.
    3. Your Home > Library > Screen Savers folder is another potential location for third-party screen savers.
There are also two special cases to the above:• The Computer Name and Pictures Folder screen savers are buried deep within the operating system and are found in the directory:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Versions/A/Resources
    • The .Mac screen saver is hidden since its file name begins with a period (.). The file actually resides in the Macintosh HD > Library > Screen Savers folder, but you need to enabled Finder's feature to display hidden and invisible files to see it. Third-party utilities, such as the freeware application TinkerTool, provide a function for enabling/disabling the Finder's ability to show hidden and invisible files. You may want to submit a Mac OS X Feedback requesting that Apple add a feature for the function you desire.
    Good luck!

  • No Screen Savers:

This Machine does not have any screen savers, or I just don't know how to find any and set one...
I remember an elementary school teacher from the 90s set up a mac lab...I immagine they have older Mac Classic Operating Systems...and remember they all had numerous screen savers (with Sound Effects) and they rotated (a different one came up each time a machine went idle)
Is there any way I can reinstall the screen savers?

    Hi, In-Correct -
Here's some other sources for screensavers -
Screen Gear - Screen Saver, Image Displayer
    MacScreenSavers.com - Free screen savers
    VersionTracker: Screen Savers
    Free Macintosh: Apple Screen Savers
    Pure Mac: Screen Savers
(I have not tested those links in quite some time, so one or more may no longer work)
Not all screensavers work the same nor have the same feature sets, so you may need to test a few before you find one you like. Be sure to remove or otherwise disable a screensaver before adding in a new one - no sense in having two or more sets of software competing; such can cause the OS to crash.
Note - you may be recalling the After Dark screensaver suite, commonly used prior to OS 9. It did not survive the upgrades in OS 9, and will not run as-is in OS 9. As I recall there were one or more 3rd-party screensavers which purported to be able to use the After Dark modules in OS 9; I have no idea whether their claims were valid.

  • Removing Acrobat 9 Standard from my pc's Add/Remove screen

My pc is on Windows XP Professional.
I am unable to remove "Acrobat 9 Standard" application from my PC's "Add Remove Programs" screen.  The application shows up in the list and when I select the Add/Remove option I get this message.  The program is not now on my PC.
"This action is only provided for products that are currently installed".
I tried the Acrobat Tech support suggestion:
To use the microsoft special products removal program.  Microsoft has since removed that program (because of technical difficulties it's use caused) and Microsoft now suggest that I use the normal Add/Remove procedure for removing a software package from my pc.  That process does not work.
Note:  Acrobat 9 Standard was removed originally, but the program was still displayed on the Add/Remove screen.  Now I want the program to go away from my Add/Remove Screen and do not know hot to make it happen.

  • Background and Screen Savers

How do i change the Background of the desktop and the Sreensaver?

    Please could you help

You change the background and screen savers in the System Preferences Desktop & Screen Saver preference panes. Just click System Preferences in your dock.
In order to view your pictures in Front Row, you need to import them all to iPhoto.

  • How to load my pictures as screen savers

please forgive my ignorance but I totally do not understand what this cloud or iCloud is but i understand one must use it t o load one's own pictures onto Apple TV to use as screen savers.

You would need to upgrade your Mac to OS X Mavericks and purchase iPhoto '11 from the Mac App store (unless you already have it).  Then you would have to create an iCloud account on your Mac by going to System Preferences>iCloud and signing in with your Apple ID, then check Photos.  Then you can add your photos to your photo stream using iPhoto as explained here: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/mac/9.5/#pht7aaade98.  Once the photos are added to your photo stream, you can sign into your iCloud account on your Apple TV (in Settings>iCloud) and be able to access your photo stream photos for your screen saver (in Settings>Screen Saver>Photos>iCloud Photos>My Photo Stream).
You might also want to consider waiting until OS X Yosemite is released later this year.  It will include a new built-in Photos app and iCloud will include a new iCloud Photo Library feature (see https://www.apple.com/icloud/preview/).  These are likely to supersede the need to purchase and use iPhoto to accomplish this.

  • Open the Library/Screen Savers?

    Hello,
I run Leopard, and I tried to use PackageMaker to package up a Quartz Composition I made. I tried to make PackageMaker place the composition into User/Library/Screen Savers, but that would not work. It would work fine in my account, but if I tried on a different computer, it would not place the file.
So unless anyone knows how to use PackageMaker, I decided to write an applescript that would open User/Library/Screen Savers
This probably wont work on, since it would open MY account, that does NOT exist on the other computer.
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
set target of Finder window 1 to folder "Screen Savers" of folder "Library" of folder "philippehewett" of folder "Users" of startup disk
    end tell
    Any other suggestions?
    Regards,
    Please Help Me

    tell application "Finder"
    activate
open folder (((path to library folder from user domain) as string) & "Screen Savers:")
    end tell

  • Quartz Screen savers no longer work in OSX 10.8.

They were made in earlier OSX versions and still run in OSX 10.7 on another machine. I see other quartz files in the Screen Saver folder in the Library of the 10.8 machine but mine won't work. Why does the System Pref window display the quartz files that came with the system but not the ones I made and inserted? Do I need to run these .qtz files through something or install them in a new manner? They show up in the window of the different folders fine and the preview of them show the animation just fine.  They simply don't show up in the Screen Saver app in the System Preferences so are not able to be used.

I placed my older .qtz screensavers into system>library>screensaver where the screensavers and slideshows that came with the ML installation placed them.  I have now used their names for my older .qtz files and when I use the System Preferences and look at Desktop/Screensaver I do not see my older qtz files, I only see the ones that came with the installation.
But, since I have renamed my older qtz file after one of the existing ones (Arabesque), when I choose Arabesque I actually engage my older qtz file.  This allows me to use the file but does not answer why this is happening.  Am I now limited to only the number screen savers that came with the installation as renamed files?
So, this discussion has helped me to do what I wanted but I have not solved the actual problem.  There must be a simple explanation and way to use a file with its proper name.

  • Computer Name and Flurry only available Screen Savers

I've lost all the built in Apple Screen Savers except for Computer Name and Flurry. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it? I looked in Computer > System > Library > Screen Savers and saw all of them there, but when I open up my System Prefs, they aren't listed. I tried repairing permissions but that didn't work. Any ideas?
Also, I have an iSight camera, and PhotoBooth is telling me my card isn't compatible, even though I used it one time when I first installed Leopard. Any clues on that one? I'm thinking this has something to do with one of the recent updates.

OK, so after not getting anywhere (not to mention growing tired of too much desktop) I disconnected my secondary monitor that was hooked via a VGA to DVI connector to my ATI X1900 XT card, and now all the screen savers are back. Looks like it just didn't like having the connector.

  • Help did 9.1 update and now cant find where my screen  savers

hi i just updated my system to 9.1 and now i cant find the screen savers there is no screen saver control panel .looked every where i u can help me i would be indebted to u i am a newbie been using windows for ten year im in lov e with this mac !!!!!

    Hi, alottab -
i beilive it has a folder named previos system
That would indicate that you did perform a Clean Install.
The result of a Clean Install is that you get a brand new, "clean" System Folder of the new OS, and the old one is renamed to "Previous System Folder". The "Previous" one contains all the items that had been in the OS before the update; the new one does not.
Your screensaver software should be in the Previous System Folder. None of its files are accessed by the new OS, which is why you would not have access to the control panel for that screensaver software. In order to use the old items in the new OS, you would need to move the software from the Previous System Folder to the appropriate locations in the new one.
    Notes -
    1) Do not replace any of the OS 9 software with items from the Previous System Folder. Older third-party (non-Apple) software items may or may not work in OS 9, but be sure to not replace any OS 9 system software items with ones from OS 8.
    2) Some OS 8 software will not work in OS 9. In particular, this includes some screensaver software such as After Dark. As Kenichi Watanabew pointed out, there is no native (built-in) screensaver software for OS 9 and earlier; all such is third-party software.
    <hr>
There are some screensavers available which will work in OS 9; some are free, some are not. Here are some sources -
Screen Gear - Screen Saver, Image Displayer
    MacScreenSavers.com - Free screen savers
    VersionTracker: Screen Savers
    Free Macintosh: Apple Screen Savers
    Pure Mac: Screen Savers
    Filedudes
    Tucows Macintosh
Be sure to read the description of any of those you are interested in to be sure they will work in OS 9.
Screensaver programs can be useful and even fun, but they are not necessary. In OS 9 you can use the Energy Saver control panel to auto-sleep the machine and monitor after a delay of your choosing. I set mine to sleep only the monitor, and not the machine - wakeup is near instantaneous.

Had the same problem, but have now upgraded to Foxtab 1.4.3 (which didn't offer itself via Add-ons Upgrade - had to upgrade manually).
    Now works as before.
Think FF5 works better than FF4 for me - faster & ok now Foxtab issue gone.
