'Remove Silent Channels' Removes ALL Audio, how to fix?

Thanks in advance for anyone who can save me a BOATLOAD of time re-ingesting footage. I have footage from an entire feature film I've shot on a server. It is 4k RED footage and I am having FCP X create 2k proxy files to a local drive for speedier editing.
For the last 10-12 days of shooting, I did a mass ingest, and while importing footage, I checked the 'Remove Silent Channels' box during the import, along with the 'Create Proxy Files' checkbox.
Now, (of course, after labeling all the footage), I find that none of the proxy files have ANY audio. They are all silent. BUT! Opening the proxy files in QT off of the local drive, the proxy files HAVE audio, its just not showing up in FCP??!?!
The only way I've been able to fix is to re-ingest the footage without the 'Remove Silent Channels' box clicked. Which means I'd have to spend hours creating new proxy files and relabeling them.
Any thoughts? Thanks again.

Thanks Tom -- if my memory serves me correctly, there was nothing there. Will double check when I get back to the machine tonight.

Hey there Sam1011,
It sounds like you are not flipping the side switch but the phone keeps muting and unmuting by itself.
I would start by toggling the side switch manually to mute, then unmute. Then evaluate it for a bit. If the issue persists, reset the phone with this article and test the issue.

If your device stops responding, you can reset it by pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

It certainly sounds like you are encountering an Activation Lock. The original Apple ID and password must be used to do a reset, or the iPad will not be useable.

How to fill right/map one channel for all audio

I've got a bunch of audio clips in the timeline where I need to grab just the right channel from the stereo file. Usually I would just add the effect "Fill Right" to them all, but there's got to be a cleaner/easier way to do this...

It's easier to do before you add the clips to the timeline, you can convert the audio to two mono tracks. For the audio you already have in the sequence there is no easy way to split it. If it is all on one track you could add fill right to that track in the track mixer, if it is spread over several tracks you could add a dialogue sub-mix group and add the fill right effect to that.

New comp, geek squad removed all songs, how do I get those back?

My old hard drive crashed along with 200 something songs. Geek squad was setting up my new computer and he updated my iPod so that the only songs on it now are the sample songs from my computer. I had planned on buying the old songs again, but the Music Store says I already own them, so they aren't completely gone.
How do I get my old songs back without any record of them on either iTunes or my iPod?

Greetings all! How to fix old stained grainy photos?

I know its been about a year since I have been here. Life got busy!
I hope everyones well.
Today i have an old photo from when my father was alive holding my sister when she was a little girl.
Age and time and abuse has done a number to this image.
While I have a generalized plan on how to try to fix this, I was hoping for some eye opening pointers to help fix this image up.
as you can see there is spills, yellowing from aging and of course the poor qality of the original image to contend with.

Recovery project automatically deleting all audio and video transitions

When Premiere crashes, the recovery project has automatically removed all audio and video transitions. This has happened to one project about 3-4 times.. Has anybody seen this or has a solution?

No ... but I'll just kick in here that it is good to have your auto-save set for not too long a time, and not a bad thing to manually save-as to an incremental every so often. It does mean your last couple few minutes of work need to be re-created, but ... that's nothing compared to losing a LOT of work.

How do I remove ALL of garageband?

I had this bright idea to download GarageBand, and when my system memory went from 8.86GB to 4.32GB I thought that is horrible I'm going to delete it.
I removed every thing from "/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/" and "/Library/Audio/"
I even used CleanMyMac 2
I emptied the trash (for some reason that is the first thing people ask if I did)
I rebooted my Mac twice for good measure
I now only have 6.37GB
So I searched the web and found nothing so I come to ask the gurus
Were did the other 2GB go? And how can I get it back?

GarageBand is now compatible with Logic Pro and many files and their location is shared with Logic. WHen you installed GarageBand, it created actually Logic related directories and stored files there. SO if you don'w use Logic, make sure you also remove thos Logic related directories too.
/Library/Application Support/Logic/
Also there is a new directory in your user folder that is created by GarageBand
~/Music/Audio Music Apps/
Although this is user folder and shouldn't have much data in it (unles you created it), you can erase that one too if you want to remove all the traces.
One thing is strange. GarageBand only installes about 2GB of files plus the 800MB of the app itself. Your math indicate that there is an over 4GB of data which cannot come from GarageBand itself, unless you purchased the additionl content.

Having a MBPr late 2013 and having a sound problem the sound does not come tom the headphones even its all the way up and when i remove the headphones it docent come out the internal speaker either ? any idea how i fix this?

Hello. I've been able to play sound without problems through headphones or external speakers to date - the output always switched to these automatically until today. Now, sound output continues through internal speakers even if I plug in headphones or external speakers.
- I tested the headphones and speakers on other devices: they work fine.
- When I plug in headphones or speakers into the audio output port (I have verified that I'm not using the input jack) the devices are not detected and are not listed under the output tab in system preferences-sound.
I concluded from this that I probably had a problem with the audio port, so to test that I tried the following. I plugged a powered multi-USB device with ports for microphone line-in and headphone line-out into the USB port and switched it on. I verified that it was working by plugging a USB stick into the multi-USB device - this was recognised successfully, so the device was clearly working. I then plugged in headphones and speakers into the audio line-out on the multi USB device - but still no sound came through them (and tey were not listed among output devices) and the Mac continued using internal speakers.
What should I do? Does the latter test suggest that the problem does not lie with the audio port, or is my test not conclusive? What would you advise?

How do I remove attached Audio

I am trying to get a Captivate file to decrease in size, so
far with out any luck.
Here is my problem. I have a 112 slide project (please do not
flame about the file size, I am unable to break it into several
smaller projects per my customer). I attached the audio originally
at 128 bitrate. The final size of the CP was 183mb with an output
size of the EXE at 31mb.
I batch changed the MP3s to be a bitrate of 64 and now the
final EXE size is 18mb, but the CP size has grown to 347mb. My
laptop did not have any problems running Captivate at the 183mb CP,
but it is having problems now.
How do I strip out the fomerly loaded audio files? Is there a
way to purge them from the library?

*Select Remove (this will delete link to slide but leave
audio in project, probably not impact file size much)
To delete all audio from project:
*In Edit mode, select View > View Library
*In the Audio section, Ctrl+click to select each audio file

I want to do this because when I imported from my old hard drive there was an error message stating that 12 photos were not imported as the programm did not recognise the format even though they were jpegs like the other photos in that particular album. The dates of the photo folders are wrong I have multiple copies of photos and every time I start iPhoto I get the following message 12 photos have been found in the iPhoto library that were not imported would you like to import them No or Yes
if you press Yes the same message comes back again and if you press Yes again the program flicks to last import for 2 seconds and then opens events.
if you press No the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user/judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos then if you press OK the original message 12 photos have been found.............
if you press No at this point the message The photos have been placed in the folder/user /judith/pictures/iphoto Library recovered photos_11 the end number goes up by 1 every time you go through this process

Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

Need to know how to remove ALL previous Outlook settings in Registry and file locations (cross posted)

Problem: I cannot get a newly installed Outlook 2013 to connect to the [online Office 365] server with old [non-domain] logon profile. That is my issue, and what I'd like to fix. (There's some services and settings on the old profile
that cannot be easily duplicated. Also, I'm just enough annoyed by this to ask for suggestions.)
Background: I upgraded an existing Office 2007 install of several years back to Office 2013 on an continuously used [non-domain] user profile (I needed connections to several Exchange accounts at various domains I remotely admin
and was tired of logging on through OWA, so it was time to upgrade). Up to Sunday last, I have never had issues with Outlook and Office 365 connections to that account; upgrading Office 2013 "killed" my outlook.office365.com connection to emails.
Testing: I created a new [non-domain] logon profile, and Outlook 2013 connects to my outlook.office365.com account just fine with the new logon profile. To repeat:
there were NO connectivity issues in connecting to my Office 365 account in the
new [test] logon profile with Outlook 2013, and using Outlook 2013 on the new [non-domain] profile.
The problem is profile specific, to an older existing profile (I'd like to use).
Just FYI: my [vanity] domain tests just fine with the Exchange 365 online tools. Office 365 works. OWA works. Outlook 2013 works (in the new logon profile). Mobile devices work.
There are no major problems with the domain name in MXToolbox, or Microsoft Remote Connectivity Tester. Both Windows and Office are fully patched on my workstation. There's no malware.
The problem is something in my older logon profile. Something somewhere locally to that logon and/or Outlook-specific profile is keeping it from logging into the [Office 365] mail server. I just get the typical "cannot connect to
the server" error.
What's Needed: So what I need is a link to a webpage (or pages) that details ALL [existing] Outlook/Exchange settings that are profile specific ...so I can
manually remove them from the Registry, from the drive, etc.
...something on the order of "...remove all profiles under
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem" and "...delete all files in
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook" (neither of which fixed the issue, whatever the real issue may be ...but that's all I found so far that seemed pertinent). Anyways, "stuff"
like that.
Alternatively, if someone knows what Registry keys, other settings, etc., I can export/import from the test logon profile to my "real" logon profile(s), that would be worth a shot, and greatly appreciated.
Or maybe just some google search suggestions that might find the above links (listing error message contents hasn't been useful: too many hits).
Me: I'm a sys admin with over 30 years experience. I'm not looking for suggestions on how to set up an Exchange account, or an Office 365 account, or to setup a new mail profile or logon profile (or to remove either of those), or to add
a new email account (manually or with auto-discover), or to remove an old account. None of that applies and/or has worked in this case.
Thanks in advance for your interest. I really need a knowledgeable wizard, since I'm looking for a solution to a complex issue. My own googling and troubleshooting has just turned up the usual noob' stuff. At this point, I'm at a loss. The well is dry.

How I wish there would have been an answer to your question. It would have answered mine as well.
Seems typical to microsoft "help" unless it is the usual noob response and/or "more clarification" (I with no tech degree understood exactly what you refer to) the only response is well, just no response......
