Remove temp files

HI,
I was copying a music file from my computer to my PlayBook via wifi and the transfer was interrupted.  Now I have a partial file listed in the Music app and I'd like to remove it.  I tried copying it again and I have two of them with the same name listed.  The "AIR Browser" app only shows the complete one, not the one that aborted.
Is there any way to remove it without wiping and/or reloading the PlayBook?  I tried rebooting and that didn't make a difference.
RIM: Shouldn't there be an automatic cleanup of temp files on reboot?  Why don't file transfers write directly to the destination directory?

You might try to connect your PlayBook to the PC, so you can obtain access to the PlayBook files.
In below article you can find various ways to connect to the PlayBook files

I may have temp files slowing down processor. How to I clean it up?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

We have common interprise licence for Powercenter Data Validation Option for which we don't need to give licence file while installing for common username. While installing I given wrong username and other Db information at 1st step and setup asked for licence file.I tried to run again, it directly lands on licence file step.I tried resintall by removing installation directory, cleaning registry realated to DVO tool but when ever I install again setup directly goes to licence page. How get rid of this problem? Possibly if anyone know where username stored and any ohter temp/app data for DVO, I can try removing them too. Totally stuck , following screen I am getting on restart (after reinstall) instead of user and db info page.

Thank you for your prompt reply. Unfortunately I am not that tech oriented and

  • Recovering data from Temp file following transfer failure

    Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about recovering Lightroom data from temp files.
Last month I made a serious, serious error while transferring my files in Lightroom. I was off-loading a month's worth of material off of one hard drive onto another (in a rush to catch a flight), and used Lightroom's "Move" tool to do so. Problem was, they were both portable harddrives and one of them periodically lost power during the transfer. The result was devastating: the vast majority of the images and previews were lost to the black abyss. I did not have a backup of the RAWs or videos. It was... very bad.
However, I noticed that I could still preview the images in Lightroom. Somewhere, some of the previews still existed in a temp folder or in RAM.
I found two files called Photoshop Temp in my Windows Temp folder and backed them up to my drive. Together they're over 6 gigabytes and do not respond to opening in Photoshop, nor Lightroom.
Is there any way to recover some of the data from these caches?
    Thanks so much!

    Hi,
Is your cube contains 0customer field?? If there is no use of it then remove from the cube so that it gets eliminated from update rules too. If the data type of that object is Char, then remove the alpha routine property in the infoobject level.
Check the file type in the infopackage also, whether it is checked as CSV or not.
    Hope it helps,

  • Need help -To Restrict Huge temp file, which grows around 3 GB in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Team,
I am working on OBIEE 11.1.1.5 version for a client specific BI application. we have an issue concerning massive space consumption in OBIEE 11g installed linux environment whenever trying to run some detail level drill down reports. While investigating, we found that whenever a user runs the drill down report a temp file named nQS_xxxx_x_xxxxxx.TMP is created and keep's growing in size under the below given folder structure,
    *<OBIEE_HOME>/instances/instance1/tmp/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/obis_temp/*
The size of this temp file grows huge as much as around 3 GB and gets erased automatically when the drill down report output is displayed in UI. Hence when multiple users simultaneously try to access these sort of drill down reports the environment runs out of space.
    Regarding the drill down reports:
    * The drill down report has around 55 columns which is configured to display only 25 rows in the screen and allows the user to download the whole data as Excel output.
    * The complete rows being fetched in query ranges from 1000 to even above 100k rows. Based on the rows fetched, the temp file size keeps growing. ie., If the rows being fetched from the query is around 4000 a temp file of around 60 MB is created and gets erased when the report output is generated in screen (Similarly, for around 100k rows, the temp file size grows up to 3 GB before it gets deleted automatically).
    * The report output has only one table view along side Title & Filters view. (No Pivot table view, is being used to generate this report.)
    * The cache settings for BI Server & BI Presentation services cache are not configured or not enabled.
    My doubts or Questions:
    * Is there any way to control or configure this temp file generation in OBIEE 11g?
    * Why the growing temp file automatically gets deleted immediately after the report output generation in screen. Is there any default server specific settings governing this behaviour?
    * As per certain OBIEE article reference for OBIEE 10g, I learnt that for large pivot table based reports the temp file generation is quite normal because of huge in-memory calculations involved . However we have used only Table view in output but still creates huge temp files. Is this behaviour normal in OBIEE 11g. If not, Can any one Please suggest of any specific settings to be considered to avoid generating these huge files or atleast generate a compressed temp file.
    * Any other work around solution available for generating a report of this type without the generation of temp files in the environment?
Any help/suggestions/pointers or document reference on this regard will be much appreciated. Please advice
    Thanks & Regards,
    Guhan

    Hello Guhan,
The temp files are used to prepare the final result set for OBI presentation server processing, so as long as long you dataset is big the tmp files will be also big and you can only avoid this by reducing your dataset by for example filtering your report.
You can also control the size of your temp files by reducing the usage of the BI server.I mean by this if you are using any functions like for example sorting that can be handled by your database so just push to the DB.
Once the report finished the BI server removes automatically the tmp files because it's not necessary anymore.you can see it as a file that is used for internal calculations once it's done the server gets rid of it.
    Hope this helps

  • In Adobe Acrobat X, can you save a PDF to a temp file and forward the email back out?

    I'm running windows 7 Professional x64
    Adobe Acrobat X Professional
    Microsoft Office 2010 professional
While  using Adobe Acrobat 9 with Office 2007, I have a user that was previously able to receive a PDF in Outlook, sign it, save it to the temp files, then forward the original email to a different user with my signature and changes saved within the PDF.  Now that I have upgraded to Acrobat X and Office 2010, that capability is no longer available, but I can complete the aforementioned process when using Microsoft Excel.
Is there a way to do this with Adobe X and Office 2010, or was that capability removed with the upgrade to one of the 2 software packages?
The error that I get when signing a document is:
    document_name.pdf
This file is set to read-only.
Try again with a different file name

  • CS6 temp file blunder - can you repeat this problem?

There is a serious root problem with Adobe's implemented permissionless-temp-file creation methods (pun intended.) The problem is that during startup, both Bridge and Photoshop CS6 try to make temp files on the root folder of the OS drive. Its affecting many peoples' installations by crashing them on application launch if not run by the super-administrator account on the computer. Adobe says to just run as admin to fix it, which does fix the start up crash. However, for me, it creates a gigantic problem: it breaks OS-to-PS and OS-to-Bridge drag and drop functionality completely!!! I literally was slowed to a crawl in my workflow having to import photos 1 at a time through the file-> open menu because I couldn't drag and drop various files from various locations on my computer. Not everything is clumped in 1 area neatly for Bridge to open everything, and I never realized just how much I used this function until this run as admin band-aid broke it. Eventually I fixed the CS temp location after 10-12 hours of hair pulling research and trial and error, and I finally have Photoshop CS6 working without admin permissions and everything is dandy with drag and drop, but only in PS. Bridge still cannot be run without administrator privileges and cannot have files dropped in or out of it to or from Explorer, and I am getting really frustrated here.
Its kind of disheartening that I have to work for 10 hours in order for me to be able to pay and fully utilize Adobe's software. Even 3 months after being made aware of this issue in other forums, and for how many people it is affecting, they still don't fix it when all they need to do is move the default location of the temp file to somewhere without a need for admin permissions! (I.E. documents folder?)
So does anyone else find their drag and drop ability gone once running Bridge/PS CS6 in admin mode? Am I the only one? Is there a way to move the default temp creation location of Bridge as well? I'm frustrated and I think Adobe seems to be taking this permissions issue way too lightly!

I'm running Windows 7x64 Professional. Temp is actually on my RAMdisk but using a folder junction to trick the programs into thinking its on the default temp folders of the C drive. Disabling UAC will fix it yes, but I don't want to disable UAC as I travel with this computer and security is something I prefer to have with me. Its only set to minimal UAC as well, but still its nice for spotting some things. And now, I really am going to look stupid here, but some reason now I can run Bridge without admin permissions without crashing, but now I can't preview or play .mp4 files which was a problem I had before!!! So, now I have a big WTF? expression on my face right now since I've been meticulously trying to get Bridge to work with drag and drop for over a week (and I guess now it magically does once someone actually pays attention to my posts lol) but now .mp4 functionality is poof without admin rights, no matter where the files reside. I think I give up on Bridge I'll just run it as admin but sheesh...
[[ giant pointless image removed by admin ]]
But, I still can post references... these all have a problem with 'MMXCore.8BX_unloaded' on startup (there are more elsewhere but it takes time to find them all):
    http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/bridge_cs6_release_crashes_on_startu p
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1001298
    http://www.sjogrens.nu/?p=106
Junction points are mentioned in the second post, and that's what I have done on my system (I did it with a program not command prompt, though)
Really though, after all I've read through and tried, changing the default location of where Photoshop and Bridge intitially put their TMP files to a permission-lax folder would really fix all the problems with this, even if it is caused by changing the default temp area, it would solve the issue for everyone that does do it. A user's documents folder would work perfectly. Sorry if I'm a little inconsistent with information I'm tired and just about burnt out on this stuff (including a lack of sleep)

  • Adobe Reader leaving temp files, which are not auto-deleting.

Adobe reader is leaving temp files all over and I can't delete them. The temp files are left in my "My Documents" folder, which is redirected to the server. Anytime I open a PDF, it leaves a temp file (ie:U17F7.tmp) and it does not auto-delete. The temp files are 0 bytes in size, just really annoying when my folders get cluttered with all these temp files.  I also cannot delete the files, because it says the location is incorrect. I am able to delete the temp files when I'm not connected to the company network. How do I get these temp files to remove themselves once I close out of Adobe Reader?  This is driving me crazy!

Are you trying to print files ?
Did you try to uninstall and re-install the product?

  • Clear RAM/temp files on system SSD disk

    Hi!
6 months ago I installed OS X 10.8.5 on a faster SSD disk on my Mac Pro from 2008. PhotoShop and other heavy applications became much faster with the new flash drive, initially. Now, it's even slower than before, for some reason. Can I clear RAM cash, temp files or something?
On this 120 GB disk I've only installed the operative system along with applications. It seems to me that I have temporary files taking up space or something because the memory scan shows 76.83% of memory being used for "other" stuff than photos and apps. (se attached images)
I keep all files that I work on, on a different disk. In other words, the SSD disk should not be running out of memory like this - right?
Happy for any help with this!
    Cheers!
    Angela

CS6 uses the boot disk for scratch and can put 100's of GB on there if there is room, and can cause trouble and overload the SSD.
So yes you need to find another location for scratch.
PCIe lets you leave your drive bays as they are and allow you to add two SSDs that will run faster and not impact performance.
I would aim for keeping the boot drive to 60GB free.
I would also want to see the 500GB drive upgraded to 1TB or larger (use the 500GB for backup clone of the system for one thing).
Your 2TB is where I like to see: 50% free area.
You need to make a backup system image of the SSD with CCC and then restore from and booted from the clone and restore back to the SSD at some point soon. Use this SSD for scratch or another seeing you have a free hard drive bay #4 still open until you can get a PCIe Sonnet card (US$150-300).
Install TRIM Enabler 3.0 now and use Onyx after that.
There are more options today but the basic ideas, from MPG:
    http://macperformanceguide.com/OptimizingPhotoshop-Intro.html
    http://macperformanceguide.com/OptimizingPhotoshopCS5-Benchmarks.html
MPG LLoyd's site, is a graphic photographer and edit.
Eventuially a newer even a 2009 Mac Pro and better GPU and more cheaper RAM would make sense if you want to as would 10.8.5.
Or save up for Mac Pro 6,1 or to buy a used Mac Pro 2012 even. Some things you can take with you and re-use.
    Look at your 8800GT.
It has one power cable. There are two thumb screws holding a bracket bar in place. So you can remove or upgrade or clean.
Small, 512MB VRAM, can run hot, can get dust clogged inside and need to be cleaned out. And could fail from heat and weak solder joints (take apart, bake in oven for 15 minutes at 350*F actually works, is documented how to do on Youtube). 10.6.8 does not provide as many options in graphic cards.
It seems like upgrade to 10.8.5 $19 might be worthwhile some point (another reason to 'clone' your system or start fresh with a new SSD for system, so you can if needed continue to boot and run 10.6.8).

  • Can't set temp files folder or set cache size

I have a workstation that will not download files, or pick up the auto-proxy settings. Other workstations on the same network work fine, so it is not the user profile or proxy server/config. It happens to all users on this workstation, including the local
    admin account.
I have reset IE settings, doesn;t fix. Downloaded and run 4 or five fix-it tools (I used Chrome or another PC to download). I have removed IE from the windows features and settings, rebooted, and added back. Windows update works, updated it to all latest
security patches. If I go to open the downloads folder, it does nothing (Tools-View Downloads), just drops back to the normal browse window. If I try and check/set the temp files, Tools->Options->Browse and click Settings, I see there is no current temp
file location (not even for the loacl admin). I try and set it (by moving) to C:\Users\admininstrator (%username%)\appdata\local\microsoft\windows\Temporary Internet Files\ it accepts, then asks me to log off. Log back on and it's not set. I try and set the
Disk space to use for cache as it is set to zero, and it will ONLY accept 8MB then when I click save (close or whatever), I go back and it is still 0MB.
I have run sfc /scannow, I have reset all user permissions on the Admin user folder.
Sooo00, I use Google Chrome and it works fine - picks up the autoproxy, downloads, opens the download folder. I've disabled all the add-ons. If I set the proxy to autodiscovery, IE hangs and does not disply anything. If I set the proxy script, it does not
work. If I manually set the proxy server and port, browsing is fine except it won't download files when you click on them to save, won't open pdf's.
This all used to work until sometime over Christmas.

    Hi,
So we are using IE 11 here? And are we in a domain environment?
In addition, have we checked if this issue exists in
    saft mode with networking.?
When doing the uninstallation, please first take a check to see if the previous version of IE could work with the settings mentioned above, after that, take a try to install IE 11 by manually download it from the below link:

  • Mysql-5.5.30-6 : temp files issue

since I upgraded mysql, I beginning to encounter suddenly this kind of error on any sql statement after some times :
    mysql> show fields from jos_banner;
    ERROR 1 (HY000): Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_25e6_0.MYI' (Errcode: 2)
I find that restarting mysqld is sufficient without actually changing any configuration files, but the problem shows up again the next day.
After some research, I find out that "PrivateTmp=true" in /usr/lib/systemd/system/mysqld.service is the guilty :
mysqld creates temp files in a private namespace (ie : /tmp/systemd-private-6DfdVO). The errors happen because the directory no more exists.
I can't figure who removes these directories, is it a systemd configuration issue ?

Did the file come from a Mac user? If the fonts are Mac-format TT, T1 or .dfont you cannot use them even if they are available in the Document fonts folder (presuming there is one), nor will Windows T1 fonts work from that folder, though they could be installed.
Bottom line is you need Windows compatible fonts, either OpenType, Windows TrueType, or (if you are willing to install them) Windows Type 1. If those are not available already on your system, or in a document fonts folder supplied with the file, you need to get them.

  • CS5.0.3 Temp files on C during export even with scratch as E

I have a small project that uses alot of Photoshop files as graphics templates. I thought that because I set my scratch disks to "E" that whenever I would export, it would use "E" as my temp location for any temp files generated/needed during exporting. But for some reason, my exports have been crashing because I'm running out of room on my C drive during the export. I discovered that during exports, there are several Photoshop TEMP files being created on my C drive - each like 3 GB, eventually filling up my C drive. (I confirmed that I set the export render location to E) After the render/export, these Photoshop TEMP files disappear on C. Is this expected behavior? Is there something obvious I can do to make sure all files go to a separate drive? Thanks!

Adobe like many other applications use the Windows Variable Temp directory for cache files. As an example, if you export out of Premiere and select the queue to media encoder, it will show the C drive instead of the drive where the media is actually located with the Project file. That is because the source that media encoder is seeing is that Windows Variable Temp directory. You can change that by creating a Folder on the E drive called Temp. Then right click on Computer and go to properties. Select Advanced Settings on the Left and then Environment Variables on the bottom of that panel. You will see 2 Temp files and locations listed at the top of the Environment Variables Panel. Select edit and then type or copy/paste in the location of the temp directory created on another drive. Example - E:\Temp
Restart Windows and then the Variable cache should be moving to that directory. Keep in mind that Windows uses those for allot of things. So if that drive is removed or fails you will take a very long time to boot and it will boot with errors.
