Remove template region

I have established a small hierarchy of templates for a
DreamWeaver CS3 site. At the first level, one template region (1)
contains a table with 9 cells each containing a rollover image.
New template pages (x 6) are generated from this template
page. The images in (1) above are changed on each of these, so that
they remain uneditable in all resulting pages. But when I press the
Template region tab, Modify > Templates > (Remove template
markup) is greyed out.
This is what the help site says I should do. What have I done
wrong, and is there another way to solve the problem?

Do not use nested templates.
Your single template will have editable regions placed so
that on pages that
require section-specific navigation you can add a navigation
element
accordingly.
For example -
1. Make a Library item that contains JUST your navigation for
a specific
section, or
2. Make a server-side include that contains the same
On a child page, you have an editable region available for
the
section-specific navigation because of the way you have built
the template.
So, you can place either item #1 or item #2 as needed (use
DW's F1 help to
read about both - I prefer the latter).

  • How to remove Editable region from nested template?

I'm trying to remove an editable region from a nested
template while retaining it in the parent template. DW doesn't want
    to let me do this.
    Example:
    - I've created an overall template call ALLPAGES.DWT
    - In it, there's an editable region called "related links".
    - The "related links" will stay the same for all my main
pages (welcome, news, info, etc), so I'd like to create a nested
template called MAINPAGES.DWT where the field is locked.
    So here's what I did; I started a new page from ALLPAGES.DWT
and then I created a template MAINPAGES.DWT from it. Now I want to
remove the editable region "related links". According to the DW
manual, I should be able to highlight the region and go to
Modify > Templates > Remove Template Markup, but that
    option is greyed out!
Apparenlty the only way of removing the editable region is to
create a smaller editable region within it. But that's unnecessary
and sloppy. How can I remove the region entirely?

    I really disagree with this.

I spent quite a bit of time using them, tweaking them,
    understanding them,
and watching the problems that others have had here on the
    forum. My
compelling conclusion is that there is nothing you can do
    with nested
templates that you cannot do more simply and with far less
    trouble by using
other methods, some involving other kinds of template
    regions, and some
involving simple use of Library items, or better, server-side
    includes.

This is not only unkind, it's completely erroneous. Far and
    away, I am the
single most enthusiastic proponent for the use of templates
    on these boards.
Perhaps a read of my book would help you rid yourself of your
    attitude, too.

  • How do I Place Two Or More Template Regions Side by Side?

How do I change the page size of a template or a template region so that I can place two templates side by side with the content in between?
Maybe I need to know how to place two or more template regions side by side?
Can you insert a template into a table?
How do you insert a template within the main template along side a region within the main template?
Sorry to ask so many questions but each approach would sole the sampe problem.  (Putting two or more regions, side by side.)
Thank you in advance for any help that you can offer me.

How do I change the page size of a template or a template region so that I can place two templates side by side with the content in between?
Template regions are not layout regions.  They do not add any structure to your page, and only provide a way to add content to whatever HTML structure contains the template region.  So - you need to make your Template's HTML provide the space.
For example, you could have a three column, one row table with an editable region in the left/right cell.  The exact answer, though, will depend on your page's layout and where you want the editable regions to be placed within that layout.
In addition, you say "place two templates side by side" as if the regions were the templates.  That's not correct.  There is a template file, which contains editable regions.  Thus, you could not place two templates side by side.
Can you insert a template into a table?
See the answer above.  You can place an editable region inside a table.
Sorry to ask so many questions but each approach would sole the sampe problem.  (Putting two or more regions, side by side.)
I bellieve you are very confused about what templates are and how to use them, and so I strongly suggest you read DW's F1 Help about templates before going further with this project.

U will C what kind of disign V R using (regions without templates)
So, it works fune ... in here. In our working environment it is not working. It doesn't give any errors. It just doing NOTHING when clicking on the box. I believe it is this line that doesn't work onclick="htmldb_ToggleWithImage(this,'left_region')".
So the Q is : what is "htmldb_ToggleWithImage", and where to look for it. Somewhere on the forum i found that this is a java script. So, does it live in UNIX (operating system)? How to find it? And what can be wrong with it?....

  • Locking editable template regions to Contribute users only

    Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to lock some editable
template regions to Contribute users only? We need to have these
regions editable through Dreaweaver so our site designers can still
modify them. I'm not talking about the "Optional region" here, just
    a "regular" editable region.
    Thank you,
    Stéphane Brault

there's no option to restrict access to contribute users only
when using Dreamweaver templates.. but a possible dirty workaround
would be to place those editable regions inside dynamic code (ASP,
PHP, JSP, etc..) as Contribute won't be able to interpret them..
they won't be visible in Contribute

Can't get a response back from my purchased template.
    THanks!

yep, that's where we have all the pages named BUT....the author is still in the tab afterwards.
    HLPFA.com
Should just be "HLFPA | Home"
Coming up as "Calpules"...the theme. Just not sure how to get in the engine of HTML in MUSE. It's not easily available. Any help would be great!!

  • DW CS3 Remove editable regions

    Hi
How does one go about removing an editable region in DW CS3?

Thanks David...it was rather a simple issue but for whatever reason my mind wasn't working and this had me stumped.
I have another template based question on the forum, once I get past this last issue, I think my troubles will be behind me.  If you have time, please have a look.

  • Remove editable region *and* propagate?

    Hi all,
I have an editable region in a template which I would like to
make uneditable. I can remove it in the template, but the change
does not seem to propagate to the child pages. In other words, the
region is still editable on the child pages after I apply the
changed template. Is there a way to do this or am I outta luck
    here?
    Thanks!

Removing the editable region markup should certainly render
    that region
uneditable in the child pages. Something is preventing that
    from happening.
Can you show me the child page after removing the markup and
    tell me which
    region you are deleting?

  • Stumped over Template Regions

Our organization site was built using Dreamweaver templates (If it helps to see it "in action" the URL is nursing.iupui.edu). We use Contribute for ease-of-use by our distributed editors. I'm the administrator and have only enough knowledge to be dangerous using Contribute (I'm more comfortable working directly in the code), and unfortunately I'm the one who knows the most here. My computer was recently upgraded to CS5. With CS4, we used a left-nav, right-nav, center content format; the left and right nav files are include files. Our editors often use "template properties" to add or remove a right-nav file. With CS4, they could use template properties to check that they wanted it to appear, then to add the path to the include file, or delete it, and save it. After CS5 was installed when I click template properties I get an Inconsistent Region names box, but I don't know what it's asking for or how to make a selection. To complicate things, now, when I click template properties, I get an alert box over the top of the Inconsistent Region Names box that says "In file ""OrphanedContent"":initializeUI is not defined.
I am completely and irrevocably lost. I dont' even know the right questions to ask. Can someone help me?
    Cindy

When I match up the properties to the closest region, I get the Template Properties box that I'm used to getting in CS4:
But when I click OK or Apply nothing happens, I can only get Cancel to react.
    Cindy.

Also, I had to add the parameter "nothome" and add some empty optional regions to hide unresolved error messages I  can't seem to remove. Can you help? Here is the code for my  template.

  • Cloudy theme 24 Template region width not responding to style width change

    Hello
I have a question regarding templates and themes.
Firstly I was using theme 20 traditional blue and all was ok.
Page template “2 level tabs with left sidebar”.
I had a page with a tree in the left side bar region.
Within the region definition in the attributes section against region attributes
I included the following style="width=300px;" which increased the width of my tree so none of the text was cut off.
    All working fine!
Then I was asked to move to the “cloudy” theme 24 which scrambled my tabs and layout but with a bit of work I sorted this out all but the tree region.
The problem is the tree region always renders at a certain width even with the style code as before in the region attribute specifying a width nothing happen.
Any ideas on what is happening here?

I have tried using 150px 250px 350px and the width increases and then stops
the view source shows me the following when I use 100% the ffffff id is mine input via the screen for testing
<section class= uRegion clearfix id= ffffff style=width:100%;> (quotes removed so it display correctly).
I have checked both templates for the page in each theme and I cannot find any references to #REGION_ATTRIBUTES# #REGION_STATIC_ID# in the templates.
the view source of the pages is quite different in each theme

  • Remove editable region

I am trying to remove an editable region on a template but
get a dialog box with inconsistent regions problems. I am afraid I
will mess things up if I don't know what to select from the menu.
Anyone know what to do here/?

Removing an editable region from a TEMPLATE page would not
    general such.
Are you sure you have properly described what you are doing?

  • I can't remove Editable Region

I have multiple templates and I cannot remove and editable region...it won't allow me to do so through Modify>Templates>Remove Markup...it will not make that option available to me...Help
    Learning

You need to make the change in the main template, not in a child page.

  • How do you remove templates in Pages 08

    Hi,
I need some help, I have created some templates for my company, but have just updated the logo. I have been trying to remove the old templates but with no luck, I have gone to the "my Template' folder but it is saying its empty! I have tried 'Format / advanced / manage pages' but this is not removing them, any help that you can give would be great, thanks

    Hi all
I Hope this may help someone else who took hours to work this out as I was a bit dumb to see what was staring me in the face I followed the last thread I read to the letter and instead of changing the Numbers folder to the Pages one
    <startupDisk>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:ApplicationSupport:iWork:NumbersEnglis h:Templates:My Templates:"
I went here close but one folder out, instead of the numbers folder go to the Pages folder if you want to change template in Pages (I feel so silly)
    <startupDisk>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Application Support:iWork:Pages:Templates:My Templates:"

  • CS6 - add non-editable region inside editable template region?

I have the following in a template:
        <div class="main-content">
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="main-content" -->
          <div class="content p7ehc-1"> <!-- from projectseven.com; don't change -->
            <h1 class="page-topper">Enter topic here</h1>
            <p>Enter content here</p>
          </div>
        <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
       </div>
Right now everything in main-content is editable. I'd like to add "Page last revised - " at the bottom of the page which would be non-editable. An editable date would follow.
I already have a number of pages with content so any solution should not destroy the content of those pages. (If needed I'd be willing to manually add "Page last revised -" to each of those pages. However, I'd want this to be automatically added for any new pages that were based on the template.)
I have tried putting "Page last revised -" in another div and making it non-editable but this creates other layout problems. I currently don't want to explore this option further.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

You could always drop a server-side include or even a Dreamweaver Library item into that editable region (the latter method is a poor second choice, though). Is that a reasonable solution?
Failing that, manually adding Ben's code both to the existing child pages and the current template will definitely place that code into newly created child pages. The beauty of his suggestion is that it's self maintaining, meaning that the code will always show the proper date on each page.
