Remove unwanted entries in PLACES sidebar

I have 2 entries in the PLACES sidebar which do not exist anymore. When I click on those 'places' in the side bar Finder hangs. How do I remove those 'places' entries as they are not needed anymore?

Duh. Should have thought of that.
Thanks mate. All good now.

  • How do I remove unwanted entries in the Profile Manager window?

Can anyone please explain how do you remove irrelevant entries in the Profile Manager dialog? Since I have both 4.0 and 3.6 installed, each with two profiles,I use to launch secondary profiles with the Profile Manager via a command line instead of a specific shortcut, and the dialog window always shows all four options, regardless of what path I enter : is it possible to clean up the dialog window,so that only the 4.0 profiles are displayed when entering the path to 4.0 profiles, and so on for 3.6,without actually risking to delete any profiles? BTW,4.0 profile folders are stored in a different directory than 3.6,and the 3.6 profiles were accessed with the Profile Manager window (no shortcuts to specific profiles at the time) before installing 4.0

The Profile Manager is for all versions of Firefox you have installed - every Profile that is listed in the '''profiles.ini''' file will appear there. The location of the Profile folders has no effect on what the Profile Manager dialog window shows. There is no way to set it up relative to one program installation.
Best thing to do is to have separate desktop shortcuts for each Profile / Firefox-version you want to use.

  • Unable to delete "(no title)" Folder Entry in history sidebar

Hello. Recently I got a strange issue in my history sidebar on Firefox Ver. 35 beta.
Today I noticed I have a "(no title)" folder on the history sidebar when I set the sort view to date and site. I tried to delete it by clicking on delete and on forget about this site but it doesn't gets removed.
I noticed I had this entry in 4 different dates which are in today's history, in last 7 days history, in this month history and on November's history. The rest of the days/months doesn't have such entry.
I know it has to do with the places.sqlite file since I removed it (previous backup of my profile folder). Obviously the history all of it disappeared (my bookmarks and bookmarks toolbar weren't affected) and the empty history only showed the homepage I have set for Firefox to open when I run the browser.
I really don't know what triggers this behavior. Other than that everything is working normally. No crashes, no slowdowns, no nothing. Just the "(no title)" issue.
As you can see on the screenshot, that entry only has the copy, delete and forget about this site options available, the rest are grayed out, as in not available.
I thought in ask because I was unable to remove that entry. And I don't want to lose my whole history because I have a lot of sites I visit there.
Maybe adding a way for this kind of entries to be removed would be a nice solution.
    Thank you in advance :)

If you click on the no title history entry, does it take you to a webpage? And if so, if you looke at the head of the html is there an entry
    <title>HTML Reference</title>
In the past when an entry like this could not be deleted it was mentioned it may have to do with sync, do you use sync, and if you do a "sync now" does this entry go away?
Also this was seen with migration of bookmarks, but was resolved. If you have the url of the no title page this may narrow down a reason, but not a work around.

  • Icon for Desktop Shows Up as a Generic Icon in the Places Sidebar

Noticed yesterday that the icon for the Desktop showed up as a generic icon in the Places Sidebar. I have tried resetting the PRAM, repaired the Hard Disk and Permissions using the Disk Utility and deleted the com.apple.desktop.plist pref in my user library. I also checked my Admin account I use for troubleshooting and the desktop icon was fine in that account. Not sure what else to do. Not a big deal but just wanted to make sure that it is not a sign of bigger things to come. Maybe the MBP knows I'm thinking of trading it in for a new model, LOL.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.
    Tom

Wow. That's stunning. I don't really know why it works, but it does. Apparently when you paste something on top of the icon in the sidebar, and remove it, it refreshes itself and somehow remembers the original icon?
I deleted something and had several blank white icons in the sidebar, so I removed them and restored by pulling them back on from my home folder. Everything worked except the Desktop. First it was the blank white icon. Then I pulled it from my home folder and it was a plain blue icon with the generic page symbol, such as a standard Documents folder icon. Then I fiddled with it and pulled it over again and it changed to the generic blue desktop icon you see in the home folder. Last I tried your step of just pasting the generic desktop icon over it and undo-ing that paste, and viola!
Many thanks for sharing. I could have forced myself to live with the generic, but it wouldn't have been the same, and not truly satisfactory, as it wasn't back the way I started. Insert applause.

  • Getting rid of burn folders in the Places sidebar

A few weeks ago I was burning some CDs.  When I was done I ended up with two burn folder icons both named "Untitled CD" in my Places sidebar. These folders no longer exist but I cannot seem to remove them from the sidebar.
I went into X11/Terminal and tried using both find and ls -R -l | grep "Untitled" and found nothing.
Suggestions on how to remove these icons?
    --Brian

Hold down CMD and drag them off.  It's a new change for 10.6.7

  • How to remove SMD entries from SLD?

We migrated our systems to new hardware.  The SLD still have SMD entries for the old servers, and they show up in the Agent Administration screen on the SLD tab.
I have removed the SAP systems from the SLD, but the SMD instances are still there.
How can I remove unwanted SMD installations from SLD?  I cannot even see them...
Thanks in advance for your help.
Edited by: Russell Day on Feb 8, 2011 7:34 PM

This is what you can do:
    go to your sld
    http://<host>:<port>/sld
    Go to "Administration"
    Go to "Automatically Updated Data"
Choose a date (if you want to see all data I suggest you choose tomorrow).
A list of items will appear.
Select the things you want to remove from your SLD, you can always identify them by looking at the "last update" collumn, and choose remove.
    Confirm the popup.....done!
    Hope this helps!

  • What must I do to delete an unwanted entry in the "Name" column of the Bookmarks Toolbar list in my Bookmarks Library?

What must I do to delete an unwanted entry in the "Name" column of the Bookmarks Toolbar list in my Bookmarks Library?
At the very bottom of the entries in the "Name" column of the Bookmarks Toolbar in my Bookmarks Library, an entry has appeared which looks different and behaves differently than all the other entries.
    And I cannot delete it.
All of the other entries have either a small icon or an empty square symbol at the left-hand end of its row.
This bottom entry has nothing at its left-hand end.
It reads "7/13/14- Profile folder - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base".
And if I double-click any of the other entries, that action opens its web page.
If I double-click this bottom entry nothing happens.
If I right-click this bottom entry, the menu that appears includes a Delete command, but it does not disappear if I try to do that.
And if I add a new bookmark to my Bookmarks Toolbar, it does not appear in the list which is displayed in Firefox, but it does appear beneath the entry "7/13/14- Profile folder - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base".
In order to make the new bookmark show up in the list which is displayed in Firefox, I must open the Bookmarks Toolbar in my Bookmarks Library, scroll to the bottom of the Name list, and drag the new bookmark up past the "7/13/14- Profile folder - Thunderbird - MozillaZine Knowledge Base" entry.
Again, how can I get rid of this unwanted entry?

You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • How to reset Places sidebar in Finder?

    Hi,
Somehow I dragged 500+ pictures references in the "Places" sidebar of my Finder. Is drag and drop the only way to remove them from the sidebar, one by one, or is there a faster way? I looked in the Finder->Preferences->Sidebar menu, but I couldn't find a way to reset the entire sidebar.

delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.sidebarlists.plist and log out/in.

  • Removing unwanted items in photoshop elements 12

I have looked at a video tutorial for removing unwanted items in a photo and followed the procedure using the spot healing brush trying both content aware & proximity match types but for some reason once I've selected the item the program doesn't actually do anything, so nothing changes. The item is still there exactly as it was before. I also tried using the magnetic lasso & but don't know how to get rid of the item once I've selected it. Can anyone help me with this issue?

I used the clone stamp tool.
Place the cursor over the rocks to the left of the sign (source area), then hold down the ALT key and left click. Let go, then place the cursor over the sign and left click.
You can adjust the size of the cursor with the bracket keys on the keyboard next to the letter P.

  • Remove all entries in sub csv list from parent csv list?

I have two csv files, one is a complete (parent) list, the other is a sub list. I want to remove all sub-list entires from the parent list. Without manually removing each entry from the parent list one at a time, is there an effecient way to remove all sub list entries from parent list in one simple effort?
Each list contains email addresses, I want to exclude the sub list from the parent list for the next mailing as they have already completed an action.
    Example:
    Parent list (csv1) has A, B, C, D, E
    Sub list (csv2) has B, D
How can I remove B & D from Parent list in a concise action?
    Thanks!

    Hi smashart,
Ian has given you a method that requires manual removal of the unwanted values from the Parent list. My preference would be for a method that constructs a new sub list that includes only the items wanted, but does not affect the original parent list data.
Like Ian's method, this requires opening both the parent list and the existing sub list of addreses not wanted as separate tables in the same Numbers document.
    Here's an example:
    Two formulas are required.
    Parent::C2, and filled down: =IF(COUNTIF('Sub 1 (have acted)' :: $A,B2)>0,"",MAX($C$1:C1)+1)
This creates the index shown in column C of Parent. This column may be hidden.
    Sub 2::A2, and filled down: =IF(ROW()-1>MAX(Parent :: $C),"",LOOKUP(ROW()-1,Parent :: $C,Parent :: $B))
This uses LOOKUP to copy the indexed addresses to Sub 2.
(Note: Close examination of the addresses in Sub 1 will show a repeated address. As can be seen, this does not affect its removal from the list in Sub 2.

    Barry

  • How to remove unwanted sapccm4x agents?

    Hi Guys
We just recently moved two SAP instances from one server to another, and I'd like to remove the registered agents for the old servers
On RZ21 --> Technical Topology, for SAP system S01 as example, there are two entries:
OFFLINE for the older system (WS10) and unwanted agent
ONLINE which is the new registered agent on new server (WS03) properly working
Using the sapccm4x -u parameter on the new server WS03 only un-register the agent on that server, not the older one
I need to remove the agent from the old server (WS10) and since the S01 SAP instance was removed before unregistering the agent Im not able to remove the entry from there.
RFC connections were updated but that is not solving this.
Is there any workaround at DB level or some trick to remove those unwanted entries?
    Thanks!

    Hi Rajeev
I have tried with parameter -u, but only can be executed from the former server (WS10) and not from the new (WS03).
Unregisterig the agent using the old profile WS10 is not resulting as expected, since it removes the agent associated to the new server.
Also, there is no Trash Icon/Delete Feature on RZ21, allowing to remove the unwanted entry
    Thanks!

  • How to remove unwanted rounding

I created a custom KF (ZBILL_QTY) with the fix unit = Dozen. with 0.000 decimal places in the properties of KF
And write a routine to get divide 0BILL_QTY (Base UOM = 'PC') by 12  and save into the ZBILL_QTY.
The problem is the figure display in the report always round up which I don't want it
    i.e  0BILL_QTY = 1 PC I expected  ZBILL_QTY =  0.0833 DZ  but the it display 1 rather.
I check the record in the cube and it display 0.0833 correctly and i also set the number of decimal places to 0.0000 in the query.
Please advise how can i remove unwanted rounding ?

    hi ,
Although that should work fine but if not can u try:
1.Is scaling factor for that KF is on or not,i mean test different setting with scaling factor ,Mostly it should be "not defiened"
2.A silly try ,create a formula and use this key figure in that and don't change any setting of decimals, and see uo to what place decimals it gives in report.
    Thanks

  • What's the best way to removed unwanted files?

I have an iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11 with 1GB of DDR SDRAM. I'm wondering what's the best way to remove unwanted files from the RAM, if it's even possible. There are apps and other files I no longer need. If I can dump the unused files will it help the computer run a little faster? Can I eliminate the unwanted files some how by myself or do I need a program that does it? Thanks

Applications are stored perminately on the harddrive [ Macintosh HD ]. When applications are running that is when they appear in a window, they take up RAM. You see your running applications by using activity monitor:
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor
Application when they are not running, they do not take up RAM.  You will not see any performance improvement when you delete an application from your Harddrive.  [ unless you have filled up your harddrive ]
Best to have greater than 2gig of free space on your Harddrive.  Many posters to these forums state that you need much more free space: 5 gig to 10 gig or 10 percent of you hd size.
Most applications do not take up much space on the Harddrive.  I copy my unused application to a folder named additional applications.

Be careful when deleting files. A lot of people have trashed their system when deleting things. Place things in trash. Reboot & run your applications. Empty trash.
Go after large files that you have created & know what they are.  Do not delete small files that are in a folder you do not know what the folder is for. Anything that is less than a megabyte is a small file these days.

This will save you a gig of space.
Monolingual is a program for removing unnecessary language resources from Mac OS X,in order to reclaim several hundred megabytes of disk space. It requires at least Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and also works on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). It worked for me on 10.4
