Remove white background when using Frames

I am trying to use a simple black frame around an image.  Unfortunately a white frame is created also, from the "background."  How do I remove this large white surrounding frame? Is there a way to create a framed image with no background?  Why is a background considered to be necessary behind a framed image? If I try to copy only the image and its frame, so that I can paste only them into a new document, "copy" is greyed out in the menu.  Why can one not copy an image that has a Photoshop frame on it? I can copy and past images with no frames.
Thanks

How are you applying the frame to your image?
Simply open your image through File->Open.
When your image has been opened, go to content pane and double click the frame that you want to apply.
The frame would be applied and there wont be any white background.
You can also adjust the image inside the frame. Just double click the image inside the frame and you you would get the option to drag the image to adjust or to zoom in or zoom out.
Please describe if you are using any other workflow.

  • Need to remove white background for use on dark background

    Hi,
I have a stock image of some people on a white background. I need to remove the white background so I can use the image in a project with a dark background. However when I put the edited subjects on the dark background, the people all have noticeable white borders around them which I assume means I am not getting all of the white out, especially around the hair. Can anyone recommend the best way of overcoming this? Thanks.

There is no single "best way". It all depends on the resolution of the image and its other quality properties. The - theoretically - cleanest and less workladden method would be to extract the luminance e.g. by converting to Lab mode and selecting the L channel, then adjust the channel range. However, if the foreground also contains lots of bright colors, clipping back the channel black and white points would also affect them and you'd need more adjustments to compensate or work with teh refine mask tool a lot to feather edges just like you would with a conventioan layer mask created from an interactive selection. On top of that you may also still need to apply all teh other dirty tricks like using a dark inner glow to cover up remaining bright areas or fill the outside with a dark color... Really depends, but you should be prepared to invest some time. Using longwinded manual painting and cloning may even be required...

  • ID 5.5 Interact. PDF, cannot remove white background for Multi-States and buttons.

    Hi
I am working on an Interactive PDF Portfolio document. The problem I have is with Multi-State object feature with several buttons going to states that need to be exported as a SWF and imported back into InDesign 5.5. See, the background of my entire doc. is GREY, but when I import the SWF (as directed in Lynda.com videos correctly) and export the entire doc as Interactive PDF and view it in Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 10.1.1) is when all the trouble starts.
When I try to get rid of the WHITE background around the Multi-State objects and the buttons for them (using Select Object Tool and then control+click on it to change the Properties to Transparent Background Appearance) it does not change, even when I go forward and backward to the page.
Does the option of removing white background and making it transparent work only for Animation, but not Multi-State feature with buttons?
Can anyone suggest any other tecnique to create a nice slide show that works in Interactive PDF in ID CS5.5? Please..
    Sincerely,
    in need of help,
    Eve

I have 8 Multi-State objects in one stack on the left and the 8 buttons for each state in the stack on the right. The background of my document is dark grey. There is space inbetween Multi-State objects and the buttons that show the grey background. But after exporting as SWF the Multi-States together with the buttons and placing the SWF back in the PDF file, the space inbetween Multi-States and buttons that is supposed to show the grey background appears white. The problem is that I cannot even change this white background to transparent in Acrobat Pro, as well. I used to do that to animations and it worked, but not in this case.

  • Is it possible to get a black background when using Picture Book layout in iphoto?

I want to customize the layouts more in iphoto--either be able to use a black background when using the Picture Book layout, or have more layout options in the Photo Essay layout.  Are either of these possible?
    Thanks!

    Yes.

  • Live type files look grainy and do not fill the background when used for green screen backgrounds.

live type files look grainy and do not fill the background when used for green screen backgrounds. Ideas?

What I want to do is somehow make my entire iMovie project smaller by compressing it somehow but without losing any footage or audio or quality. At the moment the project is a 56GB iMovie project lasting approx 1hr. I have a mixture of miniDV footage, titles created in Live Type (they are better quality than anything available in iMovie) and audio.
The miniDV footage is automatically compressed when it transfers from my camcorder to my Mac, no worries there.
The LiveType titles contain a motion background (imported into LT) and then text which appears and disappears at set points. The titles vary in length but are about 5 seconds each.
The file size for the LT titles is approx 180MB per clip, the movie requires about 20 or so of these clips, making a very large file size overall.
Is there a way that I can save something in LT so that the file size is smaller yet still keep the quality and use the clip in my iMovie ?

how to sync/edit audio when using frame freeze or time remapping? in premiere pro cs6

You need to give more information about what you want to happen to the audio when you freeze or time remap the associated video.
    Is it synch video?
    Is it music?
    Is it Voice?
Generally .. you have to cut and design the audio around the video effect.

  • HOW 2 REMOVE WHITE BACKGROUND FROM JPG OR GRAPHIC?

I am trying to "knock out" the white background on some logo art that I am using on title pages. The logo art was supplied to me in both PSD and JPG format. I can certainly use photoshop to remove the white and save in layers, but when I import and place, the white comes back. Thanks in advance!

You need to save the PSD as a TIFF file or PNG with transparency enabled.
Simple way: separate your logo and background in Photoshop.
Make sure that the unprotected area is your logo. Press command C to copy.
Go to File > New > Film and Video Presets. Choose one that matches the pixel dimensions of your project. Make sure that Background color is set to Transparent. Click OK.
Paste your graphic (command V) into the transparent template. Save as above.

  • How Do I: Remove White Background From a Non-Standard Sized PDF?

Hello. Been a little while since I was last here.
My issue is pretty simple. I am creating a PDF in Acrobat Pro X from MS-Word 2007. My document is landscaped half-page sized (US), so dimensions are: 8.5" wide, 5.5" high.
When I attempt to print to PDF, the dimensions come out correctly, but there is a white background which is the size of a landscaped 8.5" x 11" sheet. Against this background, the 8.5" x 5.5" area is situated (nearly) centered vertically, but "right-justified" horizontally (see image). I need to find out how to fix this.
    Here's what I know:
    In MS Word:
For "Page Setup" (under Page Layout tab):
    - under Margins tab, orientation is landscape;
    - under Paper tab, "Paper size" is "Custom size", with Width 8.5", Height 5.5" ;
    - No changes under Layout tab.
    For "Preferences" (under Acrobat tab)
    - under Settings tab, "Conversion Settings" are a custom setting ("Advanced Settings"), with "Default Settings" of Width 8.5 inches and Height 5.5 inches.
When I Print > Adobe PDF:
    For "Properties" in Print window:
    - Under Layout tab, "Orientation" is "Landscape" ;
    - Under Paper/Quality tab, "Paper Source" is custom with Width 8.5" and Height 5.5".
    - Under Adobe PDF Settings tab, "Default Settings" is "High Quality Print (Custom)" with (Custom) being the settings I set under Acrobat > Preferences.
    - Also under Adobe PDF Settings tab, "Adobe PDF Page Size" is custom with Width 8.5" and Height 5.5".
    The result is pictured above.
The last thing I did before posting this was run Help > Repair Acrobat Installation in Adobe X. Any suggestions? You can't do worse than I have.

  • Photomerge produces white lines when using RAW (PEF) but not TIFF

I just started using PS CC (Mac, v14.1.2) and tried out Photomerge with a set of 40 (4 rows, 10 cols) raw images (Pentax PEF format), resulting in a 0.3 gigapixel image.
When I have them stitched by Photomerge, I see fine white lines at the merge points.
I had enabled all 3 options (blend images together, vignette removal, geometric distortion correction), using cylindrical layout.
When I first convert the PEFs to TIFFs and use Photomerge with the same options, there are no such white lines.
An example of the bad output:
These unwanted lines are, of course, at the edges where the images are getting joined.
Also, when using only a few images (2x2 or 3x3, or even 4x5), I do not get this effect.
I noticed that when using less images, the blend masks' edges are not straight - but they are when I see this issue. This suggests that at some point the merge operation gets overwhelmed and switches to a simpler algorithm, which in turn has this "bug" with RAW images, apparently.
Is this a known issue, and is there a way to get this working right with this many RAW/PEF images?

csuebele, that link only directs me to http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family, which is clearly not a bug report form but yet another "open" discussion forum, it seems.
Sigh. How can Adobe charge so much money for their products and not even afford a team of people to look into bugs that users might want to report. Big companies suck.
Although you were probably looking for a standard developer-type bug report form, you still might want to take a closer look at that site. You'll see numbers next to the topics; those are user votes to help get something fixed sooner. While it's one thing to submit a bug report (and from this thread it seems they might already have it), Adobe uses that site to help prioritize which bugs to fix first, based on the user discussion and votes. Because Adobe has to decide not only whether a bug needs to be fixed sooner than other bugs, but sooner or later than certain feature requests. The user discussions and user votes on that site help them decide, although I'm sure there are other internal considerations.
In addition to votes, you'll see that posts on that site can be marked "Acknowledged" or "In Progress" by Adobe. The user votes and status reports are what make that site a little more quantifiable than this forum. Also, it isn't unusual to see Adobe developers and employees in the threads looking for more info or explaining things. So while it might not look like a traditional bug database, it's along those lines but in a way that makes it a little easier for non-technical users to participate in the process.

  • Removing white background around image in Illustrator

I used the custom shape tool in Photoshop to make a paw print and then took it into Illustrator and used the Live Trace tool to vectorize it (as the image will be used in an Illustrator file). Now I cannot figure out how to remove the white background from around it. I have a gradient behind the image and must have the white box removed from it. I'm sure the method is probably quite simple but I am rather new to Illustrator so would greatly appreciate any advice! Thank you!!

Sounds a pretty crooked workflow. Create the paw as a a path in Photoshop, select it with the path tool, copy&paste it into Illustrator. Works much better and avoids all pitfalls. For your trace problem: Make sure to choose Ignore White.

  • Unwanted black or white background when replacing icons

I like to replace the icons of my hard drives according to the purpose for which they are used. (At http://www.iconarchive.com many icons are available.) This works fine when I'm running OS 10.5. I find an icon I want to use, copy the image, use the finder to Get Info of the drive whose icon I want to replace, and then paste into the icon in the Get Info window. However, when I do that in OS 10.4, everything works except that the icon appears with either a black or white background.
How can I replace my icons in OS 10.4 and not have a black or white background?
    Thanks,
    John Link

    Great workaround...
Yup! It's a few extra steps, not too many and nothing tricky, and the result is perfect.
none of those icons work here at all for me!?
In what operating system(s) do they not work for you? And what do you mean by "do not work"?

  • White text on a white background when adding glossary definitions

I inherited an existing IBA file so I'm not sure how the styles were defined (and I've never really played around with custom styles or layouts) but I was hoping it wouldn't matter.  The main color scheme is a dark background and light (white) text.  Similar to the built in template 'contemporary'.
When I add a glossary term, i have my definitions in a separate (word) document.  I copy/paste from the document into the glossary term area.  When I paste, it's pasting white text.  Background color of the glossary definition window is also white (not sure I can control that).  My definition document is black text.
When I test the book, the little glossary dialog pops up when I touch/click on a word but again, it's white text on a white background.
Can I change the background color of the glossary dialog?
Is there a way to change all my glossary definitions from white text to black text?
When I create a test book using 'contemporary', which is also white text on a dark background, it does not have this problem.

As I mentioned, when I used a built in template, like contemporary, it worked too.  The problem only happened with the IBA that I was given.  Perhaps the previous owner of the file had accidentally chosen Format/Advanced/Define Default Glossary Style when they had some white on white displayed and caused all the formatting for the glossary to be the same.  I was able to fix it using that menu path.
I'm not sure what fixing it in the "source file" means.  I was trying to fix it in the IBA file.  Not sure where else I would have fixed it.

  • UIWebView remove white background

    Hi everyone:
I'm trying to use the UIWebView-derived class to display contents in my view. It works great, except that this UIWebView is displayed on the black background and right when the view loads up the UIWebView flashes the white background for about half a second before switching black, which is "somewhat ugly". Is there any way to get rid of this "white flash"?

I had the same problem, and the solution on this page worked for me:

  • While editing saved PSD files, png elements have a white background when resized

    Hi,
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  When I open a psd file that I previously worked on and saved, when I try to resize or in some way change the different elements(layers) of the layout, they get a white background inside the bounding box for that layer.  The different elements(layers) where pulled in from png files that had transparent backgrounds.  When I initially resize or change those layers the white background doesn't appear.  It only happens when I reopen the saved psd file to make some changes to it.  What do I need to do to stop that from happening?
Thanks in advance for you help!
    Katheryn

You can't drag from the project bin in PSE 6 and 7. Items you move this way become a kind of semi-smart object on a special passthrough layer. Use copy/paste or drag from the layers palette of the png file into the main image window of the psd file.
