Remove white spec without bleeding edges

I'm in hopes there is a technique whereas I can paint within the black areas to remove the white spec without worrying about going over the edge, as I would with a black paint brush. I tried different brush blending modes (screen, overlay, multiply) didn't do the trick.

I would think with color range you could select all the highlight white area and delete the white leaving the gray and black area.

  • How do I remove white jagged edges after making image transparent?

How do I remove white jagged edges after making image transparent?  Is there a feature to help out with this?

It's a file format limitation. GIF supports 1 bit of transparency.  That is 2^1 (which equals 2 total) levels of transparency.  This equates to either NO transparency at all, or specifying 1 single color of the 256 total possible values to being fully transparent.
This will leave a very ugly fringe around the edge no matter what; it will only not be visible in color that match or are close to the fringe color; and then, that's a perception issue.
Try creating an alpha channel and saving the image as a PNG.  That supports 8 bits of transparency, which equals 2^8 or 256 total different levels of transparency.  This will let your image have very smooth edges with no jagged transitions.

  • White Specs and 1 Dead Pixel

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but I have a week 36 iPod, without any of the audio or negative black issues but instead with tiny white specs that appear and disappear when I move the iPod in different angles. These white specs can only be seen on a black background and there are so many of them that I couldnt even count them. They also appear to be randomly appearing so they are very difficult to count.
The one dead pixel is to the right of the screen and is green. I am not too fussed about this but I wondered if any of you have the same issue?
I have looked at my iPod video and I do not seem to have the same white spec issues.
Here are some screens of my iPod touch video quality:
    http://www.innov8design.com/images/screen1.jpg
    http://www.innov8design.com/images/screen2.jpg

I have the same issue as you do. I think the technical word for this problem is a stuck pixel. In my case they are green and white and lots of them. Turn your brightness to full and then test you screen with a black background, and while you are at it show it also to a genius. I am sure they would replace it, please let us know how things went.

  • How can I stop bleeding edges in yahoo when I use a larger font?

I'd like to use firefox with my new mac air, and I like to use a 14 to 16 pt font size for my old eyes. It seems to work fine with most of my favorite websites -- except for yahoo mail. There is bleeding edges and whatnot. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks.

I will check out that extension, thanks. I do have the minimum font size increased, and do realize it can cause issues, but that's really only a problem for me in Yahoo. Facebook, hotmail, etc work fine with minimum font increased --- but not yahoo mail.
When I use Safari, yahoo and the rest of the websites also work fine with minimum font increased ('fine' meaning some imperfections, but nothing bothersome.)
So, best I can tell, only Yahoo and only firefox is a problem. Which is a problem for me since I use yahoo mail alot and like firefox.
Is there no fix for this issue without using an extension?

  • ID 5.5 Interact. PDF, cannot remove white background for Multi-States and buttons.

    Hi
I am working on an Interactive PDF Portfolio document. The problem I have is with Multi-State object feature with several buttons going to states that need to be exported as a SWF and imported back into InDesign 5.5. See, the background of my entire doc. is GREY, but when I import the SWF (as directed in Lynda.com videos correctly) and export the entire doc as Interactive PDF and view it in Adobe Acrobat Pro (version 10.1.1) is when all the trouble starts.
When I try to get rid of the WHITE background around the Multi-State objects and the buttons for them (using Select Object Tool and then control+click on it to change the Properties to Transparent Background Appearance) it does not change, even when I go forward and backward to the page.
Does the option of removing white background and making it transparent work only for Animation, but not Multi-State feature with buttons?
Can anyone suggest any other tecnique to create a nice slide show that works in Interactive PDF in ID CS5.5? Please..
    Sincerely,
    in need of help,
    Eve

I have 8 Multi-State objects in one stack on the left and the 8 buttons for each state in the stack on the right. The background of my document is dark grey. There is space inbetween Multi-State objects and the buttons that show the grey background. But after exporting as SWF the Multi-States together with the buttons and placing the SWF back in the PDF file, the space inbetween Multi-States and buttons that is supposed to show the grey background appears white. The problem is that I cannot even change this white background to transparent in Acrobat Pro, as well. I used to do that to animations and it worked, but not in this case.

  • Can't remove white halo surrounding image.

    Hi, everyone.
I've tried to clean some logos I need to use for web site pages but haven't really had good results. As I save the images as PNG to preserve the transparent background and place the images on my web page I can clearly see a white halo or silhouette surround the borders of the image. Just so that you understand my workflow this is what I have tried:
    1. Open the image in photoshop.
    2. Set background layer to a regular layer so I can remove the background color.
    3. Choose Magic Wand. Set the sensitivity to a value between 50 and 120 to choose all background color which is white. Also uncheck contiguous so all the background color is removed despite its location on the image.
    4. Crop image to close in on logo.
    5. Resize image to a resolution of 96 pixels per inch and width of 120-140 pixels (height can vary according to the image).
    6. Save for Web using PNG-8 as file format and the best quality available from the 4-up panel. In the cases I tried it translated to 256 colors Custom Palette and 0% ditter.
Result was disappointing as I expected a clean image for my web pages.
How can this be resolved ? What am I doing wrong ?
Does this have anything to do with the Save For Web command or is it related to something in my workflow ?
    TIA
    Joe

    Hi, Chris.
Thank you for your replies to my post and the detailed explanations. I have now been able to produce good images that I can use.
Let me see if I understand this right. After an image is selected and the background erased, the matte or background becomes transparent. According to your comment:
    > it only removes some leftover color contamination from the partially transparent pixels
the pixels can be partially transparent. From a reply posted to another thread I user described the differences between PNG-8 and PNG-24 in Photoshop. According to him Photoshop PNG-8 only allows pixels to be either fully transparent or fully opaque. Considering your statement about pixels being partially transparent, I assume then that erasing the background in a TIFF image will produce a file type that (similar to PNG-24) also supports partial pixel transparency as is the case with PNG-24. Is this correct ? What temporary file would this be (the one used by Photoshop until you decide to save your work) ?
So is this also safe to assume that defringe and remove white matte wouldn't work on PNG-8 images since these don't support partial transparency ?
And one last question: How does it work following your above explanation ? In removing the leftover color contamination from the partially transparent pixels, does Photoshop with either the defringe or the remove white matte tool transforms the partially transparent pixels and fully transparent ones ?
Just trying to understand the process so I can make better choices the next time.
    Thanks again,
    Joe

  • Adobe Flash Player 10.3.181.14 (latest) shows a plain white page without content in Firefox 4.0.1 running under Windows 7 Pro 64-bit; is this Firefox or Adobe?

Our revenue service requires electronic forms to be submitted which are displayed by Adobe Flash Player. I call up a form and get a white sheet without any content. This did not happen with Firefox 3.6.??. It does not happen in Internet Explorer 9 either but IE uses an Active X version of the Adobe plugin. I see on the Adobe forums many people are having this problem.

Hi again, LOL, sometimes it is just a small thing like clearing cookies/history that gets overlooked:-)
You know, can't see the Forrest for the Trees..
I'm glad it's working as it should for you!! We have enough to do, right? Like dealing with all of the Windows Patch Tuesday Updates, LOL
Thanks for marking your thread as answered too.

  • Remove white background on TIFF files

I have some TIFF files with white background. What is the best way to get rid of that white background without losing quality (ie. tiny white stroke on the objects). I see in the channels tab that I have a pretty decent mask in there but I don't actually knows how to use it to make my file fully transparency.
Hope anyone can help me with this.
    Best,
    J.

Tiff files typically do not support transparent backgrounds, but you can use the mask already created as a selection > double click on the background layer in the "Layers" palette > it will rename itself Layer 0, say yes to that > with the background mask selected, hit the "Delete" key > background will drop out and you'll see checkerboard pattern > last step, save-as PSD.  Another way would be to use the background selection and create a clipping path > save-as EPS.  The .psd will support feathering and is easier to work with than clipping paths.  Either way will require some finesse on your part.

  • Removing secondary tile without confirmation

I can understand the fact that adding a secondary tile requires the end-user to approve the request... But the removing process should provide a way to remove a tile without user interaction since sometimes the tile may refer to a file in my particular
case secondary tiles are used as shortcuts for orders that haven't been sent... So when the user send them I delete the encrypted file and remove the tile but if the user doesn't tap the removal confirmation button it leads to tile pointing to nothing... And
some of my end-user are really not technical at all and some requires a 8h course just to learn to start their devices... Anyway more control is better than less !!!

  • Can i remove white line that appears in between 2 videos when i am using video next to video

can i remove white line that appears in between 2 videos when i am using video next to video

The easiest answer would be to just get a Friskars cutter or something similar. I have one like this that I use to cut my photos apart. I found mine at a Walmart in either the scrapbook aisle or the hobby aisle.
However, if you are determined to make a custom picture package you can try making a custom layout with a text editor. I know you can control the white space amount but not sure if you can totally eliminate it.
A simple text editor will work...notepad works for this on Windows...not sure what is comparable on the mac.
In PSE3, the layouts are found following this path Adobe<Photoshop Elements 3.0<Shared Assets<Layouts...note there is also a folder titled Layouts readmes which shows the formula to edit the layouts.
Here is a link that details how to create a picture package layout using a text editor:
    http://www.graficalicus.com/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=8&theme=Printer
Caution: Make sure you save your custom layout with a new name so you don't overwrite the ones that ship with elements.
