Remove windows 8.1 login password

Hi, I had connected my windows live account to my local account, which is running windows 8.1
Now, it is asking me for Live password every-time I have to login to my windows. Is there any way to remove this password? I want to keep my Live account connected, but don't want to enter password every-time I want to login.
Thank you.

Hi:
See if this helps.

I personally don't like the live account sign in for security reasons.
If someone were to ever hack into your MS live account, and changed your password, you would then be locked out of your PC.
That would just add insult to injury, IMO.
Both my W8.1 PC's have local login accounts.

  • How to remove Windows Sign-in with Password upon Startup

hi. Can anyone help me? Whenever we buy a new laptop, my husband always told me to "just leave it blank" , referring to the Microsoft Windows sign in with blank box for typing in a password. "This way you don't have to type your password everytime
you sign in." I am totally in agreement with this. Why do extra work everytime you open your laptop? So we have always done that. Last weekend a client made me skype with her. I had to download Skype. I was offered only two options for signing into skype:
either through Facebook or Microsoft Windows sign in, so I had to get a username and password at that point with Microsoft Windows. (Yes, there probably was some way to sign straight into Skype but the corporate relationship comes first, with Microsoft, so
they only provided me a screen with those two options. Nowhere else on the Skype screen did it say there was a third option.)
Now everytime I open my laptop I have to type my long Microsoft password. Right now I am in msconfig and reading every single running service under Startup, Services and Processes and cannot find the name of the authentication for Microsoft upon Startup,
to disable. What is the name of it? Under which category?
    I use Windows 8.

  • How do I remove Windows password from cmd?

    Hi all,
How do I remove the login password from another operating system on my computer using the command prompt?
I have four operating systems that were recovered  from the installation cd due to me having forgotten my password on the original one and that one has all of my music and stuff on there.
So how do I reset the password on an operating system from another operating system? I tried using command prompt from the recovery cd but that didn't do the trick.

You can reset Windows passwords using these.
       Forgot your Windows admin password?
       PC Login Now
all of my music and stuff
Wouldn't it be easier to remove the drive, put it in a USB enclosure, and access it from another computer?

  • Cannot remove login password!

    hello
i cant remove my login password, the line is greyed out in the menu Security & privacy > General > Require password. My account is the administrator

You can reset a Password (lost/forgotten) set on your Mac using 'Reset Password Utility' available with OS X Utilities tool. With OS X Mountain Lion, OS X Utilities tool can be generally found on a local hidden Recovery HD Partition if your Mac has one.
To check If your Mac has got a local hidden Recovery HD Partition, start your Mac holding COMMAND + R buttons. If you hold the keys pressed enough and there is a local Recovery HD Partition on your Mac, you will be presented with OS X Utilities window.
Click the 'Tool' menu item and choose 'Reset password'. Terminal window appears. Type 'resetpassword' into it and press 'Enter'. Reset Password window appears with User Account Names available on your Start-up Volume. Select the User Account Name and rest is simple to follow.
One of the advantages of this method is that it does not require any Authorization method such as administrative authentication to reset a password.
NOTE: If your Mac does not have a local hidden Recovery Partition on its system disk, you can create one using Disk Assistant application available from Apple. Search for the Disk Assistant in the support area.

  • TS3554 Tried setting login password on recently returned iMac after Seagate hard drive replaced. No space to type in a password or confirm it appeared so I chickened out and clicked on red dot to shut down window. I did, however, put my name as admin. now

Tried setting login password onto iMac after it returned from Seagate exchange hard drive. Upgraded from leopard, snow leopard and currently upgraded to Lion, so as to have iCloud.Typed my name in as administrator and waited for a space to appear to type in password and confirm it. No space appeared so I shut that window down. Put iMac to sleep and when I returned and tried to access computer, it asks for a password which I did not put in! Now I'm stuffed. Cannot get into computer at all. Help appreciated. I'm not a techno wizard.

Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.
*[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
If that works post back for further advice.
Next step, if safe mode did not work.
<u>First: Try a clean install, (you have had a none standard version installed previously)</u><br /> that involves deleting the program files. Then if necessary try troubleshooting by creating and using a clean empty Firefox profile.

    * this recent post [/questions/940399#answer-377134]

    <u>Second: try a New Profile</u>
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Creating_a_new_profile
    * this will be an additional profile, it is still worth backing up any existing or currently working profile on a regular basis
**[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
    * Until you are absolutely confident about the repercussions I suggest
** always use an empty folder when creating a new profile
** never delete or rename profiles, just disable or remove shortcuts
** after creating a new test profile open it and check for any addons or plugins that may be have been included by default

  • Remove login password

    Hi
Can anyone tell me how to remove the login password. i can access to change the password but want to actually remove the need to enter a password to log in
    Cheers
    Nigel

    You can't.
remove the need to enter a password
That can be done easily with System Preferences > Accounts/Users and Groups > Login Options > Automatic Login: On

  • Cannot enter password into Windows 8.1 login screen

I hve  brand new Pavilion 15-P016AX notebook, runnign Windows 8.1.
I have not used it, simply gone through the user setup and connected to th internet. I assume some HP and/or Windows updtes have probably installed themselves in the meantime, but that would be the only change from the factory settings.
On power-up, the first screen which comes up is the standard scren with a clock and the date. I click on this screen and a second screen appears, asking for my login password.
I can click in to the password box, but any typing on the keyboard does not result in any entry to the password box. No asterisks appear at all.
All other icons on this page are active, however. Even the icon (the right facing arrow) to submit the password is active.  I can submit the password, and I am told I have entered the wrong password. Other icons like the on/off icon are also active.
Now, if I put the notebook into sleep mode, then awaken it, the same startup routine happens, but this time I can enter the password and log on.
The onyl solution I can find is to disable passwords on my account, however I would prefer to have password protection.
    Any ideas?

I unplug the keyboard from it's USB  socket, then re-plug it into the same, or another USB socket. This always works for me. The problem only occurs during approx20% of my login attempts seemingly at random.  I  bought new keyboard but this made no difference. I have a "power on" password set (in the BIOS) on my computer. There is never a problem typing this. The problem only occurs at the Windows login screen. I understand that this problem has been around since Windows XP. Maybe Windows 10 will fix it - or maybe it won't.
I have an HP computer running Windows 8.1 that is set up to install updates automatically.

  • Shift not accepted in windows 7 login password

shift not accepted in login password after powerup but is after restart.
Tried a different keyboard same problem.
Tried left and right shifts same problem.
This has been a problem for a few weeks. Virus?
Caps lock allows login but system is not usable due to keyboard mappings? hotkeys?

    Hello _glen,
If the problem started a few weeks ago the quick easy solution is to restore to a time before it stopped working.
Without doing that we can try to diagnose the issue further to see where the problem is isolated to.
What make / model computer are you using?
Do you have multiple accounts on the computer? Does the issue persist across multiple accounts?
If you don't have the computer ask for a password on startup does the shift key not work within Windows upon wakeup?

  • Why doesn't Firefox recognize the Windows Live Mail login page as such and offer to remember the password?

For most other sites' login pages, Firefox recognizes that they are login pages and offers to remember my password. For the Windows Live Mail login page it does not.

That log in page is created via JavaScript and the Password Manager doesn't work in that case.
You can see that if you inspect the page source.
*Firefox > Web Developer > Page Source
*Tools > Web Developer > Page Source (Ctrl+U)
*Right-click on a web page to open the right-click context menu and select Page Source

  • Remove login passwords

    Dear Apple Community,
Yesterday I activated login passwords for my Macbook, & now want to remove them.
ie. Make my computer like it was, when brand new. Without formatting the entire hard disk.
I have searched the community for a solution, but haven't found one yet.
Thank you for reading this, & I hope that you can advise me.
    -Raj

It's not clear what activated login passwords implies. If you mean autologin, then Accounts, and disable autologin. If something else, please provide more details.

  • HT4798 I've forgotten my login password to my MacBook Pro

I have a 13" MacBook Pro and I've forgotten my login password. It's running on mountain lion and didn't come with a installation/reset disk. How can I log into my computer? Please help.

    Forgot Your Account Password
    For Snow Leopard and earlier
Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
If you cannot do the above then try this:
      1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
      2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each command line:
         /sbin/fsck -yf
If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command until
you do.  If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message,
then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
         mount -uw /
         cd /private/var/db/netinfo
         mv local.nidb local.old
         rm ../.AppleSetupDone
         shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
How to reset the OS X password without a startup CD:
Reboot into Single-user Mode. Enter the following and press RETURN after each command line
       1. Type fsck -fy
       2. Type mount -uw /
       3. Type passwd <username>
I have never tried this method myself.
