Removed a server but it's still there

When I attempt to send an email and that attempt fails, I get a list of alternate outgoing servers to use. I've removed ones for which accounts no longer exist. However, those "removed" servers are still given as options for resending outgoing emails. How can I remove them from that list? Searching with Spotlight turns up no files containing the "removed" servers' names.

Regardless of what your sending problems are, unused outgoing servers shouldn't appear as a choice if you've already deleted them in Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server > Edit Server List.
Quit Mail and open it again. Does the Edit Server List window still display any unused servers there? Does Mail still give as options outgoing servers that you've removed from the list? If so, it could be that there is a problem with the preferences file and Mail isn't saving your changes there for some reason, so you may want to try this:
1. Quit Mail.
2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
3. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences/. Locate the com.apple.mail.plist file and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted if this fixes the problem).
You'll have to set up your non-Mac accounts from scratch all over again. If given the option to import existing mailboxes or something like that, don't. Just enter the account information and Mail will automagically rediscover the data in ~/Library/Mail/ when done.
You'll also have to re-configure most of your settings in Mail > Preferences. For spam-related security reasons, the first thing you should do is go to Preferences > Viewing and disable Display remote images in HTML messages if it's enabled.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.

Also hold the OPTION key and click on the Apple logo in the menu bar and click on system information, in the left column select power. Under the battery info see if it is charging (with the power adapter plugged in) as well as the health info (condition should be normal), and battery installrd (should be YES)
If other than these are different you may want to take it in to a Genius bar for a full diagnosis they will do that for dree.

Go back to iTunes, select the Music tab, uncheck the 'sync music; button, then hit apply.

Thomas' answer is the preferred technique. Sometimes, these pop-ups will block you from quitting Safari. In that case, press option+command+esc, select Safari, and Force Quit. Then, use the shift key with Safari when relaunching it, per Thomas' suggestion.

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

You should be able to delete them from the bookshelf in the iBooks app via the Edit button at the top right of the bookshelf. If they show on the bookshelf with a cloud symbol on them then try turning Settings > iBooks > Show All Purchases 'off'. Is that what is happening ?

Most toolbars are just add-ons. I would try going to ''Tools >Add-ons>Extension'' and removing it from there. You might need to restart Firefox afterwards, but that should be all it takes.

All songs on iPod missing after store purchase - but they're still there!

This is an odd problem.
I have a 30G ipod which I've been using trouble-free for a year. The other day I purchased a new album in iTunes and, when it had been downloaded, dragged it to my connected iPod within iTunes (I'm set to manual sync). It transferred fine; I ejected the ipod and went on my merry way. When I powered up the ipod later, the ONLY album/artist listed on the whole ipod was the new one I just downloaded. All my other (24GB) songs were MISSING. There were no errors reported by itunes, the ipod, or my computer. I'm using the recent itunes 6.0.4.2. Windows XP.
I've done this same thing (purchase songs, manually sync them to ipod) a thousand times before with no trouble. This is only the 3rd or 4th purchase I've made using the latest itunes version (with the new protection scheme) so I suspect it has something to do with that.
However when I access my ipod on my computer NOT through itunes (e.g. just as a USB storage device); I see all my songs still under the various music folders:

Where F?? are folders F00 to F49. All the song files are still there, and I also found the new songs mixed in (with the most recent modification times). Also, the ipod itself, while it only lists the 10 songs I added - says that it has 24GB of data on it.
Clearly an index somewhere is corruped and needs to be rebuilt. In the iTunes directory on the ipod, the "iTunesDB" file is only 268K - far too small for 24GB of music. But, this is ONLY on the ipod - all of my songs within itunes still show up.
I do not want to re-download or "restore" (wipe) my ipod; as I have many playlists that would be lost, and a fair amount of uncopyrighted mp3 files on the ipod which are long gone from my computer and hence would be some difficulty to restore from backups.
Is there any way to rebuild the ipod index (or fix this problem)??

"Other" is songs etc that have become corrupted, so the iPod no longer knows what to do with them.
The usual fix for "Other" is to use iTunes to Restore the iPod (there's a button for it in iTunes). Since a Restore removes everything from the iPod (and restores the iPod to factory new), I suspect the only thing you can do is remove everything from the iPod and then put it back again.

IPhoto 08 Help - iPhoto shows no photo's but data is still there.

I have a Macbook Pro 15" and am running iLife 08. Basically my harddrive isn't big enough for all my photos so for the past year I have been using an external harddrive to hold all my photo's and using an alias (named iPhoto Library, in the Pictures folder of my internal hd) to link to the actual data which is stored on my external hd. I have been doing this for over a year and it has been working perfectly.
This afternoon I went to import some more photos from my camera. So i did the usual thing (plugged in external hd, fired up iphoto 08, plugged in camera, imported photos) but when the import had finished, I accidentally took out the external hd usb instead of the camera usb. So i got the usual Device Removal error message but I thought all would be fine.
I plugged in the external hd again and restarted iPhoto (loads up fine) but it says no photos. It has no albums or thumnails or anything. It looks just like it did the very first time I opened it (before any photos had been imported).
So my heart jumped and missed a few beats with me thinking my external hd had lost all its data at the accidental removal, but it hasn't. It still has all the photos and data as it usually did (inside a package folder named Iphoto Library).
My question is how do I restore iPhoto so that it looks like it did yesterday? All the data is still there but iPhoto just doesn't display any of it? I have checked that iPhoto is opening the iPhoto Library alias but still no luck.
I have just as a precaution backed up the external hardrives 'iPhoto Library' folder onto a second external hard drive.

Yes have tried that. I set up the alias because I originally had the photos on my internal hard drive and then moved them across. I have tried holding command and alt whilst clicking iphoto and selecting the options to rebuild the library but it just takes 2 seconds and does nothing.
Any other ideas anyone?

I lost my contacts and mail folders on my exchange server but they are still on my MAC. How can I resync?

I run both a MAC and a PC with two different mail clients Entourage vs. Outlook. I have never had a problem with the clients syncing with the Exchange server until I did an archive of all emails in outlook that were older than this year. Now some subfolders have disapeared on the PC and the Exchange server but still show up in Entourage. How can I resync Entourage to the Exchange and have Exchange server "accept" the Entourage folders as correct?
Also I use an Iphone and backup to the icloud. So why did my contacts disapear from the iphone and are not restored via icloud? The missing contacts also disapeared from exchange.

Music is greyed out on iPod touch, it reads as empty, but files are still there?

Hi all,
I have a 32g iPod Touch that has never had a problem thus far.
Yesterday, I connected it as usual and went to play a song from the iPod via iTunes. The song played perfectly fine. I had the iPod on shuffle, and after that song was over, it went through every song and "greyed them out" with the symbol. I then unconnected it and reconnected it. On the iPod itself, it states that I have "no content." Yet all of the music files are *still there* when I reconnect the iPod, but they're greyed out.
I have reconnected/unconnected it numerous times (all safely) to try and figure this out. Sometimes, when I connect the iPod, the bar on the bottom of the information page shows that I have 24-ish gigs of music--which is correct. But out of nowhere, the bar will go back to saying that I only have apps and photos, no audio. I've restarted iTunes, restarted my computer, restarted the actual iPod--nothing helps.
I can't sync the entire library back to iTunes because I manually manage my songs and most of the music is on an external hard drive. I'm aware that this means that the songs are greyed out in iTunes because the actual file isn't there. However, this has never been a problem on the actual iPod before.
I updated my iPod to 5.1 earlier this week with no problems. I haven't added any new music to the iPod itself. I literally did nothing different from usual. I do have songs from other sources than iTunes, which could mean a corrupt file, but I didn't add anything new in the past week.
I'm aware that a restore would fix this, and I'm okay with doing that...however, I'm more concerned as to WHY this happened in the first place. The loss of files came out of nowhere, with no improper syncs or improper disconnects, no new music, no new updates and nothing new being done. I just don't want to put all of the songs back on the iPod and have this happen again.

Please help. I recently went into my phone to find out that when I open contacts, there's none there. I've even checked the "Groups" tab and under the heading "On my iPhone" there is nothing there.
The weird thing is, when I go into messages, they're all still there along with their names, but they're not in the contacts.

Check your email account. see if they are their, You can then import them on your DAV card, The best thing to is add them to icoud then they will be safe.

WiFi problem - network selected but Edge icon still there

I have been using WiFi for weeks with no problem. All of a sudden, it won't work. I came home and my laptop wasn't getting signal either. I had to power cycle the modem and router. Now my MacBook Pro is connecting to the network, but my iPhone still isn't. I tried choosing forget this network and reestablished it. But it still doesn't work. After I type in my WPA password it shows that the network IS connected - there's a checkmark. But the EDGE icon is still there rather than the WiFi icon. There's no Wifi, even though when I go to WiFi in settings it shows the network is connected.
Help, please. I heard people talk about resetting in iTunes. Does that wipe out of of your information, or what?

An iPhone Reset does not affect any data or settings.
Press and hold the Home key and Sleep/Wake or On/Off key simultaneously until you see the white Apple logo and then release. This can take up to 10 seconds or so and ignore the slide to turn off prompt waiting for the logo to appear.
There are two settings with an iPhone Restore with iTunes - which Restores the iPhone to factory settings - treat the iPhone as a new iPhone or Restore from backup. When syncing with iTunes, iTunes updates the iPhone backup file if any data stored on the iPhone that is not synced via the iTunes sync process was changed since the last sync such as Text messages, Notes, cities tracked via the Weather widget, stocks tracked via the Stocks widget, Bookmarked Maps, etc. but either way will require a complete sync transferring all data such as iTunes music and video, Address Book contacts, Calendar events, email account setup information, Safari bookmarks, etc.
