Removed battery, plugged in  = no activity, removed battery, plugged in  = no activity

Green light on, will manually power off (just the light) but screen is not coming up.  No response from anywhere.
I have removed battery and have it plugged in.  I have tried the PRAM exercise. . . .  nothing.
Please advise.

It may be that your backlight has gone out. Does the Apple logo on the lid light up? If not then wait until you're sure that the MacBook has had time to boot up and shine a flashlight on the screen. If you can see your desktop then it is your backlight. There's no easy fix for that unless you're comfortable with taking your MacBook apart.

  • Can I run my HP Laptop without battery if it cannot be removed (mechanism battery access jammed)

I don't know if my first message got posted, so I apologize if this is a double post:
Hi. I have an HP Laptop from 2008. I had to replace the battery last year. Stupidly, I kept the Laptop plugged into A/C. The battery started losing power a week or so ago, losing 2-3 % daily. Today it is at 45%. Problem is-I cannot remove the battery-the mechanism allowing access to battery is now jammed. Is there anything I can do to preserve my Notebook? I should add I am somewhat new to technology (as of 2008) and middle-aged. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
Yes you can, the risk is w/o battery when having main (AC) problem specially losing power suddenly data on HDD may be corrupted.

my macbook pro running lion will not boot . it stays on the grey page with the cog spinning. I have tried all methods of booting to no avail. I have removed the bottom and taken out the battery and the ram . will this affect my applecare warranty. I had to try myself as I'm overseas for two months and nowhere near any sort of help .

there was a recent software update that seemed to screw HDV up.  Do some searching here over the last month or 2 and you'll find a bunch of posts and some possible solutions.
Worst case scenario, do as Shane suggests.  But might I suggest you take a look at the user tips section of the forum.  there are some great tips on how to prevent these sorts of problems by cloning your startup drive, etc.

that seems normal: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1909.  Also, new macs do not require battery calibration: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490

  • Charger "plugged in, charging" but the battery won't go higher than 0%

    Hello there.
I have a HP dv6-2190us laptop which is I think 3 years old.
Yesterday I saw that it powered off and it didn't have any reaction when I pressed the power button on battery. When I plugged in my AC,  thinking this could be a battery error, I saw the charge light flash 11 times and then stay on .
With the AC plugged in it booted into Windows 7 and I saw that it says Plugged In, Charging... but it won't go higher than 0%.
When I  Unplug the AC it powers off suddenly as it doesn't have any battery remaining.
I checked the battery with the HP utility and it said OK and the battery is 29/300 cycles. So it's too soon for the battery to get damaged.
I've tried all the solutions ( Hard reset using power key, update bios, clear cmos, remove driver and install again, etc. ) but none of them helped me.
Do you guys have any ideas?
P.S.: I have replaced the battery 2 months ago and it's fairly new.

If you are still able to power the notebook with the power adapter and the battery removed, then the battery has problems.
Contact the seller for an RMA.
I hope  that you did replace the battery with one that was guaranteed compatible and with a one year warranty.
I have never had one fail that quickly.
    Best regards,
    erico

  • I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore

I just downloaded more then 2000 photo's from my NIKON camera into iPhoto. Shortly after that my battery life was depleted and so I plugged the computer back into power and after I opened iPhoto later, I could not find those photos anymore!! Help where are they? How can I retrieve them or are they lost???
    Please help me!!!

Do you see more photos, when you enable "Hidden Photos" in the "View" menu?
And that was afetr I took the connection with the NIKON out of my laptop.
Check, if you really imported into your iPhoto library - is the preference setting "Advanced > Importing: Copy items to the iPhoto Library" active?  If not, connect your Nikon again - do you now see more photos?
If you imported into the iPhoto Library, check inside the package:
Select your iPhoto library in the Finder, ctrl-click it, use the command "Show Package Contents".
There will be a folder named "Masters" inside, with subfolders named by year - month - day. Look for the date you did the import and check, if the photos are inside.
If yes, copy this folder to a folder on your desktop to save the photos.
If not, search for a folder "Importing" inside the library. Is it there? Then copy these photos to a folder on the Desktop.
If you found your photos, backup and rebuild your library.

I'm afraid you'll have to get the phone serviced, dropping the phone must have damaged additional parts inside the phone.
But Apple will not service the phone anymore, opening the phone and replacing the battery should only be done by authorized personal, not by users.
You'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop and see if they can fix this, sorry.

  • My ipod will only charge on the docking station. says it has a full charge but when I take it off the docking station it says battery is low so I've plugged it into the usb and plugged it into my wall outlet but it is still not charging. Help?

my ipod will only charge on the docking station. says it has a full charge but when I take it off the docking station it says battery is low so I've plugged it into the usb and plugged it into my wall outlet but it is still not charging. I'm not sure what generation it is, its an 80GB. Help?

The battery is possibly unable to take as much power as a normal battery. It may need a replacement battery.

  • Need to be plugged in or push on battery to get Macbook Pro to turn on

I wonder if I am the only one with this program. I had my original battery swell and they replaced the battery at the Apple Store last year. Since then, when I try to just turn it on without being plugged in it won't turn on everytime.
Sometimes I have to push on the battery and hold the power button at the same time to get it to power on or I just have to plug it in and it starts right up. Funny thing is after I get it on, I can unplug it and it runs just fine.
Does anybody else have that problem?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Thats sounds like a bad connection, have you tried cleaning the connections with a cotton bud and bit of isopropyl alcohol ?
If that doesn't fix it and it's repeatable take it to an AppleStore and get a genius to take a look at it for you.

  • I have for three hours been trying to download a version of foxfire that will allow me to use the add on ... facebook activity remover. it has been a nightmare

why do you not list the different versions of foxfire on your website if you are going to offer addons that will not work with the most current version og foxfire. INSANITY. i just want to use the add on facebook activity remover. Evidently it works only with versions 21.o0 to 29.0 i think. at any rate good luck trying to find one these versions. there are thousands of links all of which includes a maze leadibg to nothing useful interms of downloading version 21.0.
this is horrible. i know its free but my time isnt. id rather pay than through so bullshit.
any solutions ... simple and quick.

The vast majority of '''Extensions''' rather hosted at addons.mozilla.org are made by a third-party author or company. These authors are the ones who keep them updated for new Firefox Releases. If the author says Mozilla or Mozilla Labs then it was from Mozilla.
Mozilla does not make older versions of '''Firefox''' readily available to download as easy as current Release as they are potentially vulnerable. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/security/known-vulnerabilities/
The install.rdf file for version 2.5.5 of https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/addon/ lists Firefox 26.0 to 30.0
I am testing Firefox 38.0 build on Nightly channel and it goes about the install.

  • Adobe reader 9 - Updater Plug-in has been removed

Prior to installing the recent version of Adobe reader, I was able to populate an Adobe reader form. When I now try and populate the same form, I receive an error message "Updater plug-in has been removed. Please re-install Acrobat to continue viewing current file." I have done a re-install but am still unable to populate the same for that I was able to do prior to the Adobe 9 upgrade. Please help!

  • Battery or Charger? Only runs when plugged in.

The machine only works when plugged in. When unplugged, it turns off and the time/date settings are lost. I don't know whether, or not, this is a battery issue or charger issue. Can the answer be told from this data, which I got from the machine? Thank you.

Who did that? I'm assuming not Apple, correct? Take the phone back to whoever replaced the battery & have them fix things.
Be aware: Apple does not sell iPhone parts or batteries, thus there is no legitimate source for such.
