Removed face tags in iPhoto remain on Facebook

Hello,
I have published pictures with face tags to Facebook. Adding new faces to the picture in iPhoto works just fine, the changes appear on Facebook. However, when I delete faces from pictures in iPhoto, the tags don't get removed from the Facebook page.
I did click on the sync-symbol next to the published albums name.
Has anyone similar problems with Facebook synchronization?

There is no standard field for faces. To transfer information you must put it in the standard place that the new program will use. That does not exist for faces. One work around would be to use keywords. You include the available metadata in a photo by checking all if the boxes when you export the photo(s). What the receiving program is determined by the authors of that program. All iPhoto can do is write what it offers to the IPTC & EXIF fields which it will

Face tag in iPhoto

I had format my HD and reinstall OS then import my photos in my iPhoto library. but iphoto not recognize faces automaticaly for the photos for I had named allready earlier, please advice me, should i excercise once again to give name for all my photos

IPhoto - face tags

I have seen a lot of people have been having this problem - when tagging faces manually on iPhoto the tags do not stick?
Is there a solution? I have rebuilt my library recently and this didn't help

With respect, a back up that's out of date is not a back up.
Similarly, while there is a db file for faces, as the back up is not up-to-date, the file will be useless to you in your current version of the Library.
You could try:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

ITunes has face tags that it doesn't exist in iPhoto

I was trying to sync photos to my iPhone 5s via iTunes. But I found out there is a face tag that it doesn't exist in iPhoto. Is there a way to delete the face in the iTunes?

This happened to me also, a few days ago... I went to look at pics that were sent from just one person, all the other photos that people texted are there during same time period. It is only this one contacts several photos that disappeared... There is an arrow when I click on it it goes to a blank page?!? Have you received any feedback or answers?? Did your photos that are missing come from only one person or multiple? If you have any information that might help let me know!!! I really want them back!! Thanks much!

Do not use the iPhoto - Facebook link - as advertised changes on either side are automatically synced to the other - that is the way it works
If you do not want the features that iPhoto offers then upload directly form a web browser or other method

Remove faces from iPhoto

Hi.
Does anyone know if it's possible to remove 'Faces" from iPhoto 11 (9.2.1)? If so, how can I do it?

A poster called lopezio claims the following will do the job:
This is how you can disable (turn off) Face detection, without deleting faces found so far (just in case you want to restart processing at another time):
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Open Terminal Application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
3. Type the following (exactly as is):
defaults write com.apple.iPhoto PKFaceDetectionEnabled 0
(then return)
4. - Start iPhoto - Faces stops getting on your nerves...
If you ever need to re-enable faces, just do the same again and replace the 0 with 1.
I've not tested this so I'd offer a significant warning to back up first and even if it does work then to be wary if you're updating or upgrading as it may have an impact there too.
What definitely works, and safely, is to upgrade to Aperture as that has an option to disable faces. Pay more get more options.

Does Aperture support deletion of multiple "unnamed" face tags?

Faces is a great feature. I love it.
I have 40,000 pictures in iPhoto. iPhoto currently does not have a way to select all "unnamed" face tags in a photo and remove them. I have to click each separate "unnamed" face tag to delete it. Because of the volume I am working with, without a global delete feature, I am looking at a 100-hour project (approximately 60,000 mouse clicks) to accomplish the deletion of all these "unnamed" face tags.
I was hoping that Aperture would offer this feature, since it is a Pro app. I called Apple today and they told me that "No, Aperture does not have this feature, either."
Does anyone know if Aperture does have a way of doing this? I tried to get an Apple Aperture support rep on the phone to think "outside the box" today on this, but he couldn't think of anything.
It just kills me that because I can't select multiple face tags in a photo and mass delete them with a single keystroke or click that I'm facing 100-200 hours worth of work, literally about 60,000 mouse clicks, in order to get rid of all my "unnamed" face tags.
Thanks for any ideas anyone might have.

Why is it worth 100 hours of your time to remove them?

Exporting from iPhoto 09 to Facebook

Is there a way to export photos to a facebook account without using the moronic Faces feature? iPhoto 08 used an elegant app that would allow photos to be exported to the Facebook account where they could be organized, edited, and tagged prior to publishing. iPhoto no longer seems to allow this. Any ideas of how to bring this feature back?

1 - faces has nothing to do with FaceBook uploads
2 - iPhoto '08 had no FaceBook capability at all
3 - if you used a third party uploaded for Facebook with iPhoto '08 then check with the authors and see if it works with iPhoto '09 or if they plan to update it
4 - you can always u a browser based upload to facebook
5 - to use the build in upload simply select the photo(s) and click on facebook - they will be uploaded to facebook andy you can organize them there using the facebook tools

IOS X Yosemite, iPhoto 9.6, Facebook albums with more than 25 pictures

I have linked my Facebook albums to iPhoto. I started using iOS X Yosemite and iPhoto 9.6 a couple of days ago. Now when I select in iPhoto any Facebook album with more than 25 pictures, it automatically removes all pictures after the 25th picture. However, the pictures remain in Facebook but I want to view them in iPhoto. How can I retrieve them?

The latest iOS (10.10.2) and iPhoto (9.6.1) solved this problem. Thanks to Apple for informing me by phone!

No faces tag support for Flickr (aka faces don't = keyword)

Though iPhoto keywords have been always passed along fine to Flickr (using FlickrExport plugin in the past) the Faces info is not passed along as Flickr tags (keywords, however, are passed along as tags). What good does this do me once I've gone through all the facial recognition steps and want to share this insight with my Flickr following? Am I missing something?

So yes, I think it's bordering on absurd that iPhoto faces don't produce Flickr tags from faces(or at least give us that option) or do the mouse-over-note capability that Reuben was referring to. . .especially since it can and does for Facebook.

Faces messed up after sharing on Facebook

Unfortunately, I'm unable to demonstrate the following right now, but I will capture a vid on this later.
- I start off with an iPhoto library that has NO faces tagged whatsoever.
- First thing I do is add my Facebook account.
- Then, I assign all faces on 8 photos; some assigned to a contact with a Facebook account, some assigned to a contact from my Address Book.
- I share these 8 photos to a new Facebook album.
- Everything is synced as neatly as possible and this is why I love iPhoto '11
- Until I check the name tags in iPhoto once more
- Now, multiple faces (but not all!) across these 8 photos have been assigned to the same contact, with the same contact sometimes 3 or 4 times in a single photo!
- As soon as I start making corrections, this will be pushed to Facebook again, ending up (well actually never ending, since the process keeps repeating itself) in a big pile of mess.
Does this sound familiar?

I'm trying to do some video capturing on this, such that I can demonstrate this problem, but this may take some time. I will update the forum post mentioned above once it has been done. But I would very much like an acknowledgement from your side anyway.

What I mean is tagged a few faces, imported some more pics, checked a few and they dont show as named faces, but are faces that are in my Faces source list (ie identified and named)
So do I then have to draw a box around known faces to me, and name them again (I think iPhoto will pop up as Im typing the names I already have)
It just means that even when i import and it doesnt name, I may have lots of pics that are of faces but not tagged and so not in my faces source list

So by deleting the "Face Profile" or whatever it's called for the individual Faces keeps searching for, you think that's not a solution?
The actual pictures identified by faces are not deleted. Only the avatar and name you list to be looked for within faces is what you're removing.
Do you have a better solution? I'm all ears.

Greyed out Face tagging- Still!?!

I have a library of 15,000 photos. I would say only 1/16th of them have face tags. I have done library rebuilding. I have been on the phone with support to try their "Solutions". I see no spinning wheel next to faces like it's actually working to find more. However, iPhoto continues to write 387mb to my drive every minute while open. I am assuming it is finding photos to face tag, but I look through and there isn't that many new face tags. Terrible that it takes that much space to tag a face. I have left my library open for about 6 months now and it's still writing and writing to my drive and tagging photos is still greyed out on a majority of my photos.
I want a real answer from someone who is intimate about the program. If this program was made for a library of 500 photos then just friggin tell me and I will move on!
Does anyone know a proceedure that will fix this issue and force the faces to work properly? Quickly identifying missing faces and allowing tagging of all photos in libraries this large.

So, what solutions have you tried? It saves time for everyone if you tell us all the things you know already won't work.
There's a question that might yield useful answers. You have provided no details at all, not even the most basic information such as the version of iPhoto, where your Library is stored and so on.
And yes, I would happily say everything I have already written to your face. Frankly, your frustrations with Apple Support are of no interest, nor is your unhappiness. I don't work for Apple, no one here does. But I know something of iPhoto and am often happy to help other users. That said, users who simply whine and are argumentative soon prove tiresome and I quickly lose interest.
