Hi,
I have upgrade a testdb from 10204 to 10205 base. I have ORACLE_HOME backed up but forgot to backup the inventory, can I still go backup to 10205?
Thanks,

Please share the step how to uninstall the successful install patchset patch.

  • How to apply 11.2.0.2 Patch Set on the existing 11.2.0.1.0 database

    Hi,
I am having a standalone 11.2.0.1.0 database running on windows 2008 r2 64 bit server.
I have already downloaded the p10098816_112020_MSWIN-x86-64_1of7 & p10098816_112020_MSWIN-x86-64_2of7 patch set software.
I wanted to know how to apply this 11.2.0.2 patch set on the existing 11.2.0.1 standalone database.
I could not find any document that gives preinstallation+installation+upgrade+post installation steps.
All i can see is only readme & welcome document and it does not give any above steps in it. It recommends to choose "Out-of-Place Upgrade" but does not give any "preinstallation+installation+upgrade+post installation" steps. Some documents say to install the 11.2.0.2 software in a new home and then use DBUA to upgrade. Is this merely enough or should we follow any other steps for preinstall and post install?
Can someone share the steps/links on how to apply the 11.2.0.2 patch on the existing 11.2.0.1.0 standalone database ?
    Regards,
    Ashok Kumar.G

    Hello,
With the Patchset *11.2.0.2* you have a README ( Oracle® Database Patch Set Notes ) which give you the steps to follow and many references.
One of the main reference is the Upgrade Guide:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17222/toc.htm
The Oracle Database 11gR2 Upgrade Companion may give also many advices.
    Hope this help.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

Absolutely sure.. There is no connection at all.. reset is only the router side of the TC.
For the hard disk to be erased you need to access the airport utility disk page.. request erase and confirm the operation.
    2) I can access to time capsule by ethernet but I am not able to input the corret setting by myself
    Thank you again
I am uncertain why if you have access you cannot change settings.. but that is why you reset things so any of those problems should be fixed.
Here is the Apple info on reset.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3728
And here is the quote from the horse's mouth so to speak.
Factory default reset: Perform this reset if you wish to repurpose the AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule and want to remove all personal profiles and settings first. This reset resets the device to its state when you first purchased it. Data stored on internal or external hard drives connected to the device will not be erased. If you choose, you may manually erase the hard drive using AirPort Utility.

  • 10.2.0.4 patch set | How to get it without MetalinkId

I am using Oracle 10.2.0.1.0 and wanted to upgrade to 10.2.0.4. But, I do not have Metalink Id, can I get the 10.2.0.4 patch set without Metalink Id?

Yes, you can. Choose a plateform where the 10.2.0.4 patchset version is the based released (MacOSX, Vista or Windows 2008), install it, create a new db, then export your source 10.2.0.1 db, and import into this new one.
    Nicolas.
PS: of course, if you want only the patchset to upgrade your db in place, then the answer is shorter : no.

  • I want to remove buttons in favour of a Windows menu equivalent, how do I control the software without cluttering the GUI?

My Graphical User Interface is fairly full of controls & buttons, removing the buttons should simplify and improve the appearance of the GUI. I would like to capture all of the menu selections and drive the software without relying on offscreen buttons etc. Is there a standard technique? I have started to look at queue, notifiers, occurences etc but I havent seen anything yet that looks obvious for the application.
    Help appreciated.

You want to replace front panel controls with a custom menu? If that's true, then the code to do that is similar to the best way to handle the original controls. The event structure has both menu selection (User) and Menu Selection (App). As the shipping example Menu Selection with Events shows, you get the ItemTag and MenuRef from which you get the menu's item name which can be connected to a case structure. Since the menu name is a string, it also works well in a queue based state machine.

  • Download Patch Set without Oracle Support Identifier

How do you download the Patch Set under the developer licences. I don't have a Oracle support identifier.
The relevance of this question is, when you have 4.2 on an Oracle Express instance how do you upgrade it to 4.2.1
Can the 4.2.1 full download be used?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The developer base volume and software application user volumes have to be miles apart. :-)
And commercial reality I expect will come from the user volume base (as in users using software built by developers).
It is the era of .99cent apps and that model is effective when you have large consumption. How about all forum users have a registration fee of $2.00? :-)
Anyway's the current scenario is not increasing take-up :-)
e.g. Developer downloads express edition, this comes with a version of apex. Along comes new apex version. Now what is the upgrade path to try/test the new features.
Keep in mind release cycles are shorter nowadays.
We live in the era of VM's now.
I want to be making 1 steps forward (upgrade apex) not 2 step back(export applications and misc, un-install apex) and then 2 steps forward (install apex, import applications and misc).

  • Oracle 10g 2 - 10.2.0.2 Patch seti without instance

    Hi,
    I'm installing Oracle 10g 2 - 10.2.0.2.
I installed base release 10g 2 and then i have installed the patch set 10.2.0.2 (Linux x86).
It's a new installation, so there isn't an instance.
When i use dbca to create the DB i receive the error
ORA-01092: ORACLE instance terminated. Disconnection forced.
So i think i should execute catupgrd.sql like described in readme of patch, but if there ins't an instance, how could i connect to the db as sysdba?
    Thanks!

If you don't currently have any database, then you don't need to run the catupgrade script, this is meant only for databases so the data dictionary is upgraded on an individual basis. Just ensure you have properly applied the patchset against the right Oracle Home and ensure your environment variables are properly set.

  • Problem Updating Sample App v207 Turnkey Image to 11.1.1.6.5 Patch Set

I've been using the Oracle-provided pre-built Linux Sample App v207 image in a demo/sandbox capacity. I was hoping to patch it to 11.1.1.6.5 in order to squash some bugs, although I'm fairly new to the OBIEE patching process. I'm running into errors when attempting to apply the 1st patch of the set (14696072). It appears it's trying to auto-rollback one or more previous patches, as expected, but these backup rollback directories no longer exist. Perhaps they were deleted from the image prior to release in order to conserve storage space?
I searched the entire drive for traces of patch 14223977, as there were references to this patch with errors in the opatch log file. The directory it's trying to copy files from does not exist. I did find the two directories below which had references to this patch, but they don't include the subdirectories which OPatch is looking for:
    /home/oracle/obiee/Oracle_BI1/cfgtools/opatch/14223977_Jul_02_2012_16_48_19/
    /home/oracle/obiee/Oracle_BI1/inventory/oneoffs/14223977/
So I'm wondering if anyone else has attempted applying these updates to this particular image and has found a solution. Perhaps it won't be possible if the rollback or backup files for previous patches are in fact missing. I'm admittedely somewhat new to using opatch, so it's very possible it's not the image, but me that's missing something. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, Jay. This seems to confirm my suspicion of the files being removed intentionally. This would imply that this image wasn't meant to be patched? So if this is the case, I'd like to confirm that there's not going to be any hope of moving this particular image to 11.1.1.6.5. I'm hoping someone may be able to prove otherwise, but it's not sounding very promising.
I understand that a new manual install is an alternative, but due to several factors, I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. It appears Oracle has not released manual install files for Sample App v207 (please correct me if I'm mistaken about that). I have several scripts based on this content/config which would make patching a much easier route, if possible.
Thanks in advance for any additional insight.

  • Patching 10gr2 RAC, Oracle inventory on a CFS

I have 4-node HP-UX VCS5 Oracle10g RAC setup running in production environment. First time i am trying to apply latest patch bundle. I am trying to apply 10.2.0.4 patch set.
I am getting the bellow error when i am applying the patch.

To ignore this error and to proceed with patch installation, what steps we need to take ?

    Hi,
Looks like you have run into an always documented restriction which has now been enforced with the OUI in the 10.2.0.4 patchset.
The documentation which mentioned that Shared Central Inventories are not recommended / supported is available at :
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/em.102/b16227/oui6_cluster_environment.htm#BABGJAAF
    <Quote>
The Oracle Inventory directory (oraInventory) stores an inventory of all software installed on the system. It is required by, and shared by, all Oracle software installations on a single system. The first time you install Oracle software on a system, Oracle Universal Installer prompts you to specify the path to this directory. If you are installing the software on a local file system, then Oracle recommends that you choose the following path:
    oracle_base/oraInventory
If the Oracle base directory is on a cluster file system, or on an NFS file system on a NAS device, then you must specify a path for the Oracle Inventory directory on a local file system. The Oracle base directory must be on a local file system to enable all of the nodes to have separate inventories.
Oracle Universal Installer creates the directory that you specify, and sets the correct owner, group, and permissions for it. You do not need to create it.
    <un-quote>
What has changed with the 10.2.0.4 Installer is that Oracle now enforces this restriction. What I believe is that without this being enforced , there was a possibility of running into Central Inventory corruption issues when Clustered and Non-Clustered installs were being done on the same node.
I also found this discussion on one of the Metalink threads which might be useful.
Please contact Oracle Support prior to attempting these steps though.
    Quoting Oracle:
It is not supported to have central inventory on a shared location. There was a bug.5009954 "OUI SHOULD ENFORCE SEPARATE CENTRAL INVENTORY LOCATIONS IN RAC" filled on this issue. This bug is fixed in 11.2. It is actually an OUI issue which doesn't perform a check to make sure that central inventory location is not on shared device.
In order to fix the inventory, you can change the OH/oraInst.loc in the CRS home to point to a non-shared directory.
Run <crs>/oui/bin/attachhome.sh -silent -local -cfs CRS=true -invPtrLoc <crs>/oraInst.loc on each of the nodes. Finally copy the oraInst.loc to the /etc/oraInst.loc.

  • How to remove 8172 Patch

    Hi,
Can some one pls suggest me a solution for the following issue.
    1.I have installed 8.1.7.0
    2.Updated Patch 8.1.7.2.
Now i wanted to remove the installed patch for some reason.
I tried to use oui to do this, but couldn't succeed.
Is there any way to remove the patch, without disturbing the installed 817 product.
    Thanks in advance.

    Madan
I do not think there is a mechanism provide to remove an installed patch set leaving the base. Do you have a software backed up before you did the setup. If so you could restore it back.
    thanks

  • Oracle 9.2.0.3.0 patch set for windows - questions

    Hi!
I have for that some questions. I have oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on a windows 2003 server running with one local database - no real apllication cluster.
I don't understand which instructions I have to make for oracle upgrade?
Must I also make the 3. instruction? Connect to databse prior and drop?
Must I also make the post install action for my database?
    (startup migrate ...)
what means at post install actions the following:
'execute these post install actions only if you have one or more databases associated to the upgraded $oracle_homee.
My database path is e:\oracle\oradata\database my oracle path is e:\oracle\ora92 have I in my case make the post install actions?
    Thanks for help!
    1. When applying this patchset on Windows NT, XP or Windows 2000, you must log onto the system as a user with Administrative privileges
(e.g. as a user which is a member of the local Administrators group).
    2. Unzip the downloaded patch set file into a new directory.
    3. Drop the xmlconcat function by running the following commands:
    drop public synonym xmlconcat;
    drop function xmlconcat;
    4. Shut down any existing Oracle Server instances in the ORACLE_HOME to be patched with normal or immediate priority. i.e.: Shutdown all instances (cleanly). Stop the database services, and stop all listener, agent and other Oracle processes running in or against the ORACLE_HOME to be installed into.
    5. Perform the following pre-install steps for Real Application Clusters (RAC) enviroments only:
IN ADDITION TO STOPPING ALL ORACLE SERVICES IN THE ORACLE_HOME TO BE UPGRADED:
If you are running in a RAC enviroment, stop the following Windows service(s)/devices(s) using the Net Stop command:
Stop the Windows service named "OracleGSDService"
Stop the Windows service named "OracleCMService9i".
Stop the Windows device named "OraFenceService" (This Device does NOT show up as a Service in the Control Panel).
    For Example:
    C:\>net stop OracleGSDService
    C:\>net stop OracleCMService9i
    C:\>net stop OraFenceService
Once the above steps have been performed on all the nodes of the cluster, you should then be able to upgrade the OSD components to the 9.2.0.3 versions. This can be accomplished by...
xcopy all the files in the \Disk1\preinstall_rac\osd\*.* directory to the directory in which the OSD components were originally installed on all nodes(typically %SystemRoot%\system32\osd9i).
Note: You may also be able to look in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oracle\OSD9i registry key to determine the directory in which the original OSD components were installed. Now the OSD components can be restarted on all the nodes in the cluster.
    C:\>net start OraFenceService
    C:\>net start OracleCMService9i
    C:\>net start OracleGSDService
After all of the above steps have been completed on all the nodes of the cluster, you are now ready to proceed with the Oracle 9.2.0.3.0 patchset installation.
    6. Start the installer:
If the current Installer version is less than 2.2.0.18.0 then download the Installer 2.2.0.18.0 from Oracle Metalink where it can be accessed with the bug number 2878462 and choosing the MS Windows NT/2000 Server platform, then run the setup.exe 2.2.0.18.0 from the C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install directory .
    7. You may install the Patch Set through either an interactive or a silent installation.
To perform an interactive installation using the Oracle Universal Installer graphical interface:
    1. Start the installer from the newly installed OUI 2.2.0.18.0 by running the version of setup.exe located at C:\Program Files\Oracle\oui\install and verify
that the version of the OUI GUI is 2.2.0.18.0 before proceeding.
    2. Follow the steps given below within the installer:
    1. On the Welcome screen, click the Next button. This will display the File Locations screen.
    2. Click the Browse button for the Source... entry field and navigate to the stage directory where you unpacked
    the Patch Set tar file.
    3. Select the products.jar file. Click the Next button
The products file will be read and the installer will load the product definitions.
The products to be loaded will be displayed (verify ORACLE_HOME setting for this first).
    4. Verify the products listed and then click on the Install button.
    5. Once the installation has completed successfully, it will display End of Installation. Click on Exit and confirm
    to exit the installer.
To perform a silent installation requiring no user intervention:
    1. Copy the response file template provided in the response directory where you unpacked the Patch
    Set tar file.
    2. Edit the values for all fields labeled as "<Value Required>" according to the comments and examples
    in the template.
    3. From the unzipped patchset installation area, start the installer by running the setup executable passing
as the last argument the full path of the response file template you have edited locally with your own
    value of ORACLE_HOME and FROM_LOCATION:
    setup.exe -silent -responseFile <full_path_to_your_response_file>
    Post Install Actions
Execute these "Post Install Actions" only if you have one or more databases associated to the upgraded $ORACLE_HOME.
    Important Notes
1: Java VM and XML DB Requirements
Users who have JVM (Java enabled) or JVM and XDB installed on their 9.2.0.1 databases should make sure that the init.ora parameters shared_pool_size and java_pool_size are each 150 MB or more before running the catpatch.sql upgrade script. Failure to do so could result in an unrecoverable memory failure during running of the script. Please note that JVM and XML DB was shipped as part of the default 9.2.0.1 seed database and will be present unless the user explicitly installed a 9.2.0.1 instance without them.
    2: SYSTEM table space
If you have JServer installed in the database, you should check to be sure there is at least 10M of free space in the SYSTEM table space before running these actions.
    3: Installing on Cluster Databases
If you are applying this patch set to a cluster database, then set the CLUSTER_DATABASE initialization parameter to false. After the post-install actions are completed, you must set this initialization parameter back to true.
To complete the installation of this patch set, you need to start up each database associated with the upgraded $ORACLE_HOME, start the database listener (e.g., lsnrctl start), login using SQL*Plus (e.g., sqlplus "/ as sysdba"), and run the following commands/scripts in order from $ORACLE_HOME within a MIGRATE session. If you are using the OLAP option, make sure that the database listener is up.
    startup migrate
    spool patch.log
    @rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
    spool off
Review the patch.log file for errors and re-run the catpatch script after correcting any problems
    shutdown
    startup
This step is optional - it will recompile all invalid PL/SQL packages now rather than when accessed for the first time - you can also use utlrcmp.sql to parallelize this in multiprocessor machines:
    @rdbms/admin/utlrp.sql
Execute the following if you use Oracle OLAP option:
alter user olapsys identified by <password> account unlock
    connect olapsys/<password>
    @cwmlite/admin/cwm2awmd.sql
    exit
Execute the following script only if you have version 9.2.0.1.0 of Oracle Internet Directory installed in your ORACLE_HOME. Make sure that the database and database listener are running and that all parameters are specified prior to running the script:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidpatchca.bat
    -connect <Connect String>
    -lsnrport <Listener Port>
    -systempwd <SYSTEM Password>
    -odspwd <ODS Password>
    -sudn <Super-User DN>
    -supwd <Super-User Password>
-dippwd <Password to register DIP Server>
    Where:
    connect - Database connect string
    lsnrport - Database Listener port
systempwd - Password of the database 'SYSTEM' user
odspwd - Password of the database 'ODS' user
    sudn - Super-user DN
    supwd - Super-user Password
dippwd - New password to register Directory Integration Server. This password must conform to the password policy in the OID server
Execute the following steps only is you are using the RMAN catalog.:
    rman catalog <user/passwd@alias>
    upgrade catalog;
    upgrade catalog;

I don't understand which instructions I have to make for oracle upgrade?
-- You have to follow all the instructions mentioned
(Just check for few if's for Cluster enabled, OID and OLAP databases. Perform these steps only if they apply)
Must I also make the 3. instruction? Connect to databse prior and drop?
    -- Yes you should do
Must I also make the post install action for my database?
    (startup migrate ...)
    -- Yes. Do run catpatch.sql .
what means at post install actions the following:
'execute these post install actions only if you have one or more databases associated to the upgraded $oracle_homee.
-- In this step make sure you do step 1
1: Java VM and XML DB Requirements
    Otherwise catpatch.sql will fail.
Do 2 and 3 only if applicable

My database path is e:\oracle\oradata\database my oracle path is e:\oracle\ora92 have I in my case make the post install actions?

  • How can I temporarily remove a RAID set but keep the data?

I recently had to restore my Netgear ReadyNAS to factory settings, which meant that I needed to make a backup of its data and restore it afterwards. The only possible way to back up the 8.5Tb of data was to get 9Tb of WD Red disks and somehow use them - so my immediate thought was that the Mac Pro would be a good idea. I t had four drives in it, but three of them were not being used by the OS so they could be temporarily removed.
So I replaced three of my four Mac Pro drives with new 3Tb drives and used Disk Utility to set them up as a JBOD. I then used this JBOD drive to back up the NAS and restore it again after I had re-installed its O/S (the whole thing took two weeks!!!).
So now I'm in the following situation:
    * I want to tear down the JBOD set and take the three new drives out of the Mac Pro again and replace them with the drives I normally use there so that I can go back to making music (which is what I usually use it for).
    * I also want to be able to put the new drives back in and read the data as a JBOD again if needed (in case anything is discovered to be amiss with my ReadyNAS backup/restore operation) - let's say for the next month I'll plan to keep the old drives around for safety.
How can I remove the JBOD set in such a way that I can set it up again using the same drives, and access the data (i.e. I don't want to delete the RAID set the usual way because that will delete the data too - apparently...)?

Going to ask the mods to move this to MacPro, Hatter can answer your question, but I'm pretty sure if you power down and remove the RAID drives, you can put them in back again and boot up and the RAID will still be recognized as the info is stored on the drives themselves in the GUID/MBR of each drive in the set.
Also you should know, there is a new MacPro coming and it doesn't accept internal drives, only external.
So you should prepare and have some sort of external hardware redundancy for your data that isn't dependent on the Mac HFS+ formatting as Windows doesn't read that.
Perhaps exFAT would be better as both platforms can read/write that, but if the drives are going to be used with a PC ever, they need to be formatted by Windows for exFAT to get it right. Check first before you commit to copying huge data over.
Anyway research it, because if your MacPro dies, you might be up the creek and have some issues getting at all that data since it's in a RAID, external options might not work correctly or reliably for RAID.
Also consider talking to the fellows at MacGuru's, they are external RAID box setup experts for Mac's, sounds like you need a RAID 5 box, gives redundancy and can connect to any computer.
Hardware RAID is more reliable than software ones, cross platform as well.
    good luck.

  • Patch conflict when applying the 10.2.0.5 Patch set on Windows 7.

    Hi everybody.
I have problem when install PSR 10.2.0.5 on Windows 7.
First, Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 installed successfull. I want upgrade from Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 to Oracle Client 10.2.0.5.
I downloaded Database10g PatchSetRelease10.2.0.5 for Microsoft Windows(x32) from E-Delivery Japan Site, then used it installed successfull but new ODBC is not added.
Because of that I used metalink for download 10.2.0.5 Patch 9 and OPatch utility release 10.2.0.5.0.
I extracted OPatch utility release 10.2.0.5.0 zip file directly under the ORACLE_HOME (Old Opatch is been overrided).
Then Opatch aplly command executed for 10.2.0.5 Patch 9 but the error has occurred.
