Removing a password without OS 10.5.8

During county recycling,  we  collect any or all desktops or laptops that can be made usable for those who can't afford any other computer.   On our last round up, we received a Powerbook G4 but no software.  It doesn't have a working dvd but we can manage that with an external drive.  The big problem is that we can not pass on any computer with personal information on it.   This Powerbook has a password!  I have had no luck in finding the former owner as he/she could remove the password for us.  We can't afford the cost of the OS.  Is there any other way to remove a password so that the laptop can be made usable?

Only if it is bootable. If it requires a Firmware Password to startup the computer that would require a special trick. If the computer is at least bootable, then see:

  • Add/Remove a password to an individual PDF without navigating entire security process?

Is there a procedure/plug-in/script/utility that will allow me to add/remove a password to a single PDF without creating a batch script?
I create many (dozens) PDF's throughout the course of a a day, either as an export from InDeisgn CS5.5 or via printing to the Adobe Acrobat Converter. I would simply create  watched folders on my desktop to add or remove a password but I haven't found a way to identify security-enabled PDF files without having to open the file.
I have only two scenarios for creating PDF files as it relates to security. The first includes Printing: HIGH RESOLUTION and Changes Allowed: NONE. The second includes Printing: LO-RESOLUTION and Changes Allowed: COMMENTING, ETC.
What would really be great is if there was a script that I could access as a Windows Explorer extension that would allow me to add/remove passwors to one or more selected files. It would even be better if, after enabling password security, I could some identify the security status of a file by it's icon or some other visual manner that didn't effect the name of the file.
I hope I have narrated my situation clearly enough. I look forward to comments or suggestions.

Not possible with Adobe software - Acrobat's context menu in Windows Explorer is not something you can customize or extend, nor can Acrobat or Adobe Reader change the system icon for a file based on the internal structure of the document.

An iTunes account cannot be transferred to or created on an iOS device by itself.
Did you sync your iPhone with iTunes when iTunes was logged in with your kid's iTunes account - did you transfer any iTunes content to your iPhone including apps that were downloaded with your kid's iTunes account?
If so, this is why you are being prompted for the password for that iTunes account.

  • Is there a way to recover or remove a restriction password without retoring  a iphone 4 without restarting the phone as a new phone

is ther a way to recover a restriction password without restarting the phone as a new phone

No. A simple backup and restore just restores the restriction password from the backup you just made, unless you revert to a backup before the password was set.  The other option is recovery which deletes all data.

  • TS3276 It would seem that my Mail password is not my Apple ID password.  I thought they would all be the same.  I have no idea what my Mail password is and want to change it but can't as I do not know how to reset the Mail password without having my old o

I keep getting asked for my Mail password when I want to send or receive mail in Mail.  I do not know what this password is as I thought it was my Apple ID password, but this fails.  I have changed that password so many times recently as I thought they were linked (why aren't they?).  How do I change my Mail password without having my old one?  Are there some security questions I can answer to do this?  Heeeeelp please.

Your iCloud password is your Apple ID and password. You must know it since you are posting here.
Have you transfered your MMe account to iCloud? If not, open iCloud in system preferences and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
If you have transfered it to iCloud, do this:
Go to the iCloud icon in System Preferences and open it. Sign out of iCloud.
Open Mail. If the iCloud or MMe account still exists in Mail's preferences under accounts, select the account and delete it. Then sign back into iCloud and choose Mail and any other applications in iCloud that you use. The Mail account should be put into Mail automatically.
Signing out of iCloud should remove the account from Mail and signing back in should put it back. There is no manuel account creation by you when using Apple Mail application.

  • How do i reset my Iphone 4 password without restoring to default?

Recently I've been having problems with my roommates watching me enter my password which forced me to change it periodically.
Only now I can't remember what I changed it to most recently and restoring it to factory settings isn't really an option considering the volume of the content on the device.
I've been without access to my phone for the past week and it's getting almost aggravating having to call and talk to some lady about the issue I'm having, having her sound very empathetic and saying they could "assist me in resolving this today", only to have her say that I'd need to pay $30 just to have her tell me a few words.
I don't have $30 right now and I think it's beyond stupid that they're 'unable to help' me because of this.
In the Backups section of the Apple site I read:
" If you protect your iPhone or iPod touch with a passcode, you will be prompted to enter the passcode when you connect to iTunes. Once you successfully enter the passcode, iTunes will recognize that device as authorized and you will not need your passcode to back up or sync (Which I've done). When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode.) iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups. "
I've just tried restoring from a backup I created last week but my password is still enabled and I'm still unable to remember what I changed it to.
I'm not sure if I misunderstood the bolded section but I was under the impression that restoring it from iOS 4 or later would remove/reset my current password and allow me to set a new one. That hasn't been the case.
I'm not really sure where to go from here, so any and all help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mjk

  • Removing admin password form Access 2003 database front end and back end

We have a legacy database that has been passed down from the original creator, who is no longer with the organization. It was created in Access 2003. It has a front end and a back end. The original admin password can not be located and we are in the process
of upgrading this application to 2010.  Is there a way to remove that password so we can make changes to the original files?

    Hi,
What password are you talking about, the one created with the workgroup manager? That will be difficult since 2010 doesn't have the workgroup manager anymore. You can still use the database in the 2010 environment but you can't make any changes to the original
    database without the password.

  • How to Reset Windows 8 Admin Password without Disk

Problem:Forgot Windows 8 admin password and no reset disk available, how can I reset Windows 8 admin password? On the occasion, how to reset password on Windows 8 seems to be our problematic issue. However, the problem looks difficult, not difficult actually. Two factors make efforts on it. One is the new characteristics of Windows 8 system, the other is software technology development. So just let me help you to solve it. Just choose one and put it into practice:1. Get User password via Windows Password Hint.2. Get into computer with PIN code, and reset password for locked account.3. Login windows 8 Via Microsoft MSN Account.4. Reset Windows password with another available admin account.5. Get Administrator password via Windows Password HintWhen we are creating our Windows system account and login password, a password hint will be asked to set up for preparation. This password hint had better can remind you, only just you of lost or forgotten password. So it couldn’t like the password, but is related to your login password. As a result, while you type a wrong password, the password hint will pops up below the password input box. Based on the password hint, you can think of your origin password.  As seen above, my password hint is email [email protected], and my Windows 8 login password is the same as the password of email. So when the password hint pops up, I will think of Windows login password instantly. 2. Get into computer with PIN code, and reset password for locked accountPIN code is a quick, convenient way to sign in to this PC by using a 4-digit code. Login windows 8 Via Microsoft MSN AccountIf your computer has set up to sign in to Windows 8 with Microsoft account, and you can login Windows with it, and create a PIN that any user who has a password must enter it when waking this PC, and then login with PIN code, reset password with Command Prompt. 4. Reset Windows 8 Password with Another available Admin AccountIf there is another admin account available, log on to Windows with this account first, and then reset other accounts passwords would be easy.
    >> Enter Computer Management screen
Click My Computer to select Manage to enter this screen
    >> Set password for account you want to reset
Click Local Users and Groups, choose Users, and right-click the account you want to reset its password to choose Set Password. 5. • Removing show password in thunderbird 31.6 MAC

Removing show password in Thunderbird 31.6 for mac . I can not figure out why this is even part of this program . They should have made it so that if you do wish to see the passwords that you have to enter a password ( master password ) . I like to leave my computer open so and password free so the girlfriend can snoop around . But I certainly do not want her to see all my passwords for different accounts because I use them also in my finances. can this option of show password on my mac be removed . This is making Thunderbird pretty insecure .

    <blockquote>
the number before togglePasswords is WRONG it should be hashtag and without a period or blank

    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");
/* hide the "Show Password" button in Password Manager */
    #togglePasswords {display: none !important;}

    @Gnospen,
I didn't realize the formatting is screwed by the web site. I now see what you meant.

  • HT201240 How do I remove my password on a macbook pro?

Hi, I clicked on system preferences>users and groups>login options>automatic login>my name, and I entered my password too
because that's what my friend told me to, but my mac still asks for my password whenever I turn in on. Is it even
possible to login without a password on a macbook pro?
    Thanks.

You can't remove your password, it's used to confirm and perform necessary root level installs and Software Updates that your a human and not malware.
But you may need to head to System Preferences > Security and uncheck Disable Automatic Log in.
I really don't advise you do this, a password protects your machine from others doing things to your machine while your not around.
You can log out and leave it, then come back without booting up. Also if some kid steals it, it can keep them out of your account and accessing your files.

  • Resetting password without start up disc

I can't use my password any more, and i was wondering if anyone has found a way to reset my user password without the startup disc, or another mac

    Forgot Your Account Password

Mac OS X 10.6- If you forget your administrator password
    For Lion/Mountain Lion
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.
Or see Reset a Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Password and
OS X Lion- Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
If you are unable to boot from an installer DVD:
(these will only work on Leopard or earlier)
      1. Boot to Safe Mode by restarting and after the chime press and hold down
the COMMAND-S keys until a black screen with white type appears.
      2. At the prompt, type the following commands pressing return after each
          command line:
         /sbin/fsck -yf
If you do not receive a "Filesystem OK" message then repeat this command
until you do.  If after seven tries you still do not receive a "Filesystem OK"
message, then the system is corrupted and needs to be reinstalled.
         mount -uw /
         cd /private/var/db/netinfo
         mv local.nidb local.old
         rm ../.AppleSetupDone
         shutdown -r now
The second-to-last command above will cause OS X to think that the operating system is newly installed, and when the new owner starts up the computer it will send him/her to the startup wizard where he/she can start a new user without reinstalling.
This last method does not actually change a password. It simply removes the user accounts and lets you create an initial admin account as if the computer were new out of the box.
Reset Admin Password Using The Terminal
You can reset the password by printing out (or writing down) and carefully following these steps.
First, find the short name of the admin user on the machine. The easiest way of doing this is by looking at what the directory is called in the Users folder.
Now, start in Single-user Mode. It should boot into a command line.
Enter these exact lines. Press RETURN after each.
    mount -uw /
    ifconfig lo0 up
    cd /var/db/netinfo
    netinfod -s local
Now you'll need that short name. Enter "passwd", a space, and the short name of the admin. For example, if the admin was rather prosaically called "imadmin", you would enter "passwd imadmin".
The computer will now prompt you to change the password for "lmadmin" (or whatever the short name was). Go ahead and enter a new password.
    Now, enter:
    sync
    reboot
and the machine will reboot. The admin password should now be changed.

Hello!I want to update BIOS on my Elitebook 8770w . However, the computer was locked withadministration password for BIOS and i could not remember this password. So can someone please help me to remove this password or anyway to update BIOS without it?

Dear Customer, Welcome to HP Support Forum and we are glad to assist you. This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. Please have a look at this link. http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/49497-HP-Probook-Elitebook-BIOS-Password-Reset-Utility  Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.  Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again
