Removing a web link on my "desktop"

I replaced the screen on my daughter's Kin Two M.  Somehow (and I would love to know how if anyone here can tell me)  she has a little picture of facebook message on her desktop (the main menu one can click on).  If I click on it, it takes me to mobile facebook.  I would like to delete it (It is not a favorite on her browser - I was able to delete that) and, if possible learn how to put something there I would tend to go to frequently - like gmail.
thanks!

Like many sections of the KIN, if you do a "two finger tap" on the home screen, that puts the screen into edit mode where you can move the apps around. When you're in edit mode, any favorites that have been pinned to the home screen will show an "X" in the upper right corner. Just tap the X to delete that favorite. Make sure you remember to two finger tap to get out of edit mode when you're done. Otherwise, you'll start moving apps around when you didn't mean to.
Adding a browser favorite to the home screen is similar to adding it to the browser screen. When you're on the page, tap the address bar to bring it down, then tap the star at the right end of the bar. That gives you a choice to add to favorites or "Pin to apps".

I have a text string on a sticky note that is formatted as a web link.
How can I remove the web link so the string becomes ordinary text?

In Stickies, ⌃click (or right-click) the link. From the contextual menu, choose Remove Link. Alternatively, choose Edit Link…, then click the Remove Link button, or delete the URL.

  • BUG (start screen): removal of Web link on launcher isn't possible

I surfed to a website, opened "Web -> Page -> add to launcher"
OK - now I have this link on my start screen - but how do I get rid of this button on my start screen? There is no delete option! Neither on the Settings -> Software page, where you find the post-loaded apps and can delete them.

While the color of the button may not be orange, I'm betting that the button with the white (silver?) rectangle preforms the same function.

  • Create a web link on desktop

I would like to have a web link that I use frequently on desktop. Can someone advise me how to accomplish it. Thanks!

Navigate to that page, click on the blue globe or small icon representing that site to the left of its address, and drag it to the desktop. The site address can also be dragged as plain text from any application to the desktop.

  • Links on my desktop have the firefox .ico and not the web link .ico Can this be automaticly attached like IE does

When I place an internet link on the desktop using Firefox 3.6.13 the link (.ico) icon is replaced with the Firefox (.ico) icon instead.
IE transfers this icon to the desktop with the link text.
    Can someone fix this?

You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there. <br />
Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.

  • How Can I Disable "Live" Web Links in a PDF

I have a pdf which is assembled from a variety of original documents, including one document that has a dozen or so "live" url links to websites.  I didn't create the document in question, and I don't have access to the original word processing file.
I need to upload the whole document to a website that will not accept pdfs with live links.  (It's a filing in a legal action, and the website is operated by a court.)  The website support people have told me to remove or disable the links.
This ought to be easy, but I can't figure it out.  I can't edit the source document to deactivate the links, (i) becasue I don't have it, and (ii) because it's a part of the record that shouldn't be modified without some form of formal process.
I tried scanning the pages with the links, with the thought that I would replace the original pages with scanned pages.  But the court requires text searchable documents, and the OCR process identified the links as urls and created live links.
If there's a basic setting that turns deactivates web links in the text, I haven't found it.
    Grateful for all suggestions.
    Tom

Thanks for the thought, but the document in question has already been reviewed by the technical department of the court's website help desk.  They have identified the website addresses in the text as the reason why their system won't accept it and directed me to remove them.  They refer to the addresses as "hyperlinks," which led me to believe that there was a separate link object involved.
However, from what I've learned here tonight, the problem is Acrobat's default behavior in parsing a text string that begins with "http:"
There are a number of ways to handle the problem, all of which involve a little bit of busy work, but it's not a big deal.
It's just it would have been easier if there were some preference I could enable before re-saving the document that did the trick.  Now that I think about it, a programmer could probably create an external routine (I assume such things exist for pdf files?) that would "mask" the http string from the parsing engine, or otherwise instruct the application not to generate a live link.  But such a routine itself would probably be rejected as as "code which may cause an external action," and there's probably no way to distinguish "good" external routines from malware.

  • How Can I Remove the Home Link on the Main Page

I am using PT 8.49 and I am creating a custom page where the only options I'd like to show on the page are my custom menu option and "Sign out" at the top right. I'd like to remove the "Home" link on the top right menu because I am doing the selection for them. I don't want them to be able to go back to the Home menu once they've entered my custom page. I have everything working the way I'd like except that I cannot get rid of the "Home" link. Can anyone help with that?
I am also using a template in portal called HOMEPAGE_DESIGNER_TEMPLATE as this causes the page to display without the left menu, as I want it to be.
    Thanks for your help!

  • How to remove the "text link" of an action link

    Hi everyone,
after searching the forum and web with no luck, I need help on this topic. I'm working with many reports which link to others dashboards. These dashboards were created in OBIEE 10 and migrated to 11.1.1.3.
What we wanted to do (and achieved in 10g) was to be able to click on some data (on a value of a graph, a value/column header in a table) and navigate to another dashboard. OBIEE 11g does this from the Criteria tab --> Column properties --> Interaction and selecting Action Links.
In 11g, when doing this Action Links and clicking on a value, appears a "text link" ( screenshot : [https://picasaweb.google.com/102130000310148493868/Screenshots#5646178057282726354] ), so the user would need to do 2 clicks (one on the value and other in the text link).
Is there any way to remove this Text Link? It can be a bit annoying if there is always one option, and needless.
    Thank you

    Hi Elena!
In teh Interaction Tab (in the Column Properties window), once you create the action, you will right there a check box that says: "Do not display in a popup if only one action link is available at runtime". Clik on the check box, and you are ready to go!
    Please assign points if helful.

  • PDF Portfolio - Web links do not work

    Hello,
I created a PDF with web links from a Word document. The links worked correctly in the PDF. I then imported the PDF into a portfolio (Acrobat X Professional, using the Grid layout). When I opened the PDF in preview mode the links no longer worked.
I need a way to either make the links work in preview mode in the portfolio, or to have it so that when you double click on the file it opens up outside of the portfolio.  Any help with achieving this would be greatly appreciated?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Would you try this experiment so that we can diagnose the problem?
On your Windows or Mac desktop computer, would you open the PDF document in Reader and check the General Preferences?
Preferences > General > Basic Tools > Create links from URLs.  Is the "Create links from URLs" check box selected?  (It is selected by default.)
Would you deselect it, close the PDF document, and reopen the PDF document?  Do the links still work in the desktop version of Reader?

  • Custom html file with pix and links as Mac desktop display?

Hi, in Windows it is possible to select an html file to use as your desktop display...pictures, web links, and links to network and local folders, files, and applications can be written directly into the html page. It was actually really nice.
How can this be done on a Mac?
It would be great to have personal pictures, text (poems and to do lists) displayed as the desktop background...with links to files (inspirational .mov files, recently used files, even the html file for the desktop itself for quick changes), links to start applications, and links to favorite websites...all accessible from the desktop itself.
Alternatively, would these links need to be placed in the dashboard or expose or ? Would the text over a background image in html need to be composited into a static image file?
    thanks

I don't believe there is a way in the Mac world to specify anything but image files to be used as your desktop.
I might suggest that you open the HTML fileof your choice in a browser, and take a screen shot of the output. Then you can assign that screen shot to be your desktop.
Command-shift-4 will give you a crosshair cursor to drag around the area you wish to capture.

  • How do ya delete all the text that is a web link?

i am not only looking to disable hyperlinks, i want to remove all the links including the text of the links.
like i want all the text that is a link to the web to delete. because i want to text to speech the thing and it has many links. ie this is a twitter thread, and i want all links out of my text, because it makes no sense for me to listen to them and kind of weird to listen to them. i only want the text, no links, no text of links. not only disable the link from being blue, but also deleting the information of the link. i do not want any links in my text, i do not want any text of web address in my document.
i do not want to disable the links, instead i want all the web addresses out of the text.

What is stopping you to erase them?

  • How do I save a link to my desktop?

How do I save a link to my desktop. In IE I used to save a link to my desktop for a website that I wanted to look at again. I guess I could bookmark it, but I usually only do that for sites that I visit often. In IE the option was under File > Send Link. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hey terenceholt,
This is actually really easy to do. All you have to do is go to the webpage that you want to bookmark. Click on the site icon to the left side of the URL and drag the icon to your desktop.
It's probably easier to see it done, so you should look at the KB article [[Creating a desktop shortcut to a web page]].
    Hope this helps!

  • Help! How to e-mail a PDF (from Pages) with active web links!

I have been working on this for hours without any success! I would be so grateful for a brainy Apple wiz to help me out. I am creating a Pages document that has active web links in it. My goal is to e-mail my document with the active web links in it.
So - If I export my Pages doc as a PDF to my desktop, the links work great! However - the moment I put that PDF into an email and send it the links become inactive. Is there any way to create a Pages document with web links > Export it as a PDF > Then mail with active (clickable) links? I have tried many times without success.
If the answer to my question is no, does anyone have a tip for where I can create a PDF and mail it with active links? Will any of the Adobe programs work for this type of thing?
    Thanks so much!!
    Kristen

    Using Pages '09 v4.2.
I just tested this. Assumption: You have the “Windows friendly attachments” checked in the attachments panel.
Your Pages document is open. The web links are active. You want to get it into Mail.
From the Pages menu bar, choose Share > Send Via Mail > PDF.
Mail will open with a compose window. Your PDF will be attached as a full view document. You see the links present in the PDF.
Now, click near the web links. This shows your PDF in blue. Now right-button click, and choose View as Icon from the pop-up panel.
Now mail it to yourself on another account that Mail can open.
You will see the web links in the PDF.
Right-button click on a link and from the pop-up menu, choose Open with Safari.
If you chose Quick Look, it would pop open the PDF and offer to open it further in your default PDF viewer. In my case, it is Adobe Reader.
If Reader opens this PDF from the Mail attachment, the web links remain active.
    Does this solve your issue?

  • How do I change mail web links to Firefox?

Was having a lot of problems with Safari, so I deleted it and am using Firefox. Now links to websites contained in incoming mail won't work, I presume because they are directed to Safari. How do I change them?
    Thanks in advance!

Well, now that you have deleted Safari, you cannot do it the easy way! To do this with Safari installed, you would only have to launch it, open the Preferences… dialog, press the General pane and select FireFox from the drop-down menu labeled Default Web Browser. That's no longer an option with the application removed.
Rather than delete Mac OS X applications, by the way, it's better to leave them in place because of the shared frameworks they have in common, the interrelationship of—for example, such applications as iCal and the Address Book, iSync and .Mac Sync—and the difficulty posed in the future applications of Mac OS X updates because one or more applications are missing or have been moved from their default location. In short: don't try to 'outsmart' OS X.
To address this issue, you should download the RCDefaultApp utility from rubicode, which is available here:
    http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp
It will install as a System Preferences pane. Launch the System Preferences application, select Default Apps, press the internet tab if it is not already selected, and select Web in the scrollable box on the left. The drop-down menu on the right will allow you to select the default application for web links.
You may enjoy exploring this plug-in, but be careful: it's very powerful, and indiscriminate use can wreck havoc with your Mac OS X configuration.
