Removing About:blank whilst on eBay feedback

Whilst navigating eBay to the "feedback" page I get the About:blank page and the message waiting for eBay to respond. I have tried to unravel the plethora of advice on the About:blank subject but it seems to go around in circles. I did glean from the net that if there are two scvhost.exe's running this could a virus, well I do have two running - svchost.exe and svchost.exe network services; but there my trail ran cold. If I use IE 8 I am able to navigate successfully, so the problem would seem to lie with Firefox. I have upgraded to FF18 but the problem persists. I have run SpyBot, AVG and a host of registry progs but to no avail. I much prefer using FF but if this situation is ongoing it seems I will have to juggle browsers which I do not want to do.

Please make sure plug-ins are up to date, that no add-ons are causing this and if it still persists please perform a reset. Please see as outlined below.

    about:blank is only a address not a addon, you need disable addon by addon and test until you discover which addon is causing the popup.

  • When opening Firebox, about:blank takes over, need help to remove

    About:blank has somehow gotten into my system. Whenever I log on to the internet through Firefox, many errors occur like timing out when searching, long neverending cycle to go to another site, open and closing tabs etc. I have noticed about:blank showing up in the taskbar at times, taking the place where mozilla firefox was before????     About:Blank is normally just one of the options offered for opening Firefox -
    Options>General>Start-up>you are offered three methods - opening in a blank page(About:Blank), home page, or as you finished last time.
    If you think you have malware, I presume you have run an anti-virus scanner and a spyware removal program.
    You should try the free download Malwarebytes -

    Is this in safari?
    try going into settings, safari and clear history. You may also want to clear cookies (means you will need to sign back into sites)
    It's possible that that page is a popup ad of some sort that can't run, for example a flash based ad.  You may have picked the cookie up browsing the internet and now that it's in there the only way to get rid of it is to clear your history and cookies.

    There is a PDF file by SAP subject as "Enabling web functionality in BW" which says step by step process of enabling web functionality.
    If the server has been configured for web functionality then check following things.
    Internet options -> connections -> lan setting -> Advanced -> Do not use proxy
    server for ip starting with following ip address .. and put BW server ip address .
    After modification it should go throgh.

    Hi, since installing Firefox 4.0 in Vista I have noticed an about:blank page appearing for a couple of seconds particularly when I navigate from MSN home page to my sign-in. Is this something I should worry about or is it just one of those computer things? And is it something I can get rid of? I know that there used to be a virus About Blank however I have run various spyware/malaware scans in safe mode and have no indication of a problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. David

    So you are running another WD Component/Application within an iFrame of a parent WD Application?  This is not a recommended or supported appraoch.  You should not use iFrames to intgrate WD Components.  Instead use Component Usages to embed the component within another component (use the ALV as an example).

    After FF 9 installed every little while I lose whatever page I am on and it goes to about blank. When I tried to reload my pages it just sits there. Yesterday I was about to uninstall it and it started working fine again. This morning it decided to stop again, I have uninstalled it, rebooted and reinstalled and it's still doing this.
    I never had this problem with any of the other versions. It all started with FF 9. It downloaded itself after I told it ignore update. I am getting very flustered with this happening.
    It acts like it has a mind of its own when it comes to when it is going to work for me or not. I need to fix this somehow. I even tried reinstalling 7 again and it did the same thing as 9 does now. I took it back off and put 9 back on since neither want to work properly.

Perhaps I'll ask them about it next time this problem occurs, although carrying the thing through a mall that is only about a mile away is the least of my worries. I'll do if it is both free (I don't make enough at my job to pay for such a service) and relatively speedy, although I'd hate for them to come over and for the computer to work properly (as bad as that sounds). It'd be a wasted trip and nothing would get fixed.
    I'm contemplating videotaping myself performing my "fixes" on it the next time I have this problem.

    when trying to play FarmVille with Firefox on my laptop, a window continually pops open with the title "about blank" then it closes, and pops open again right away.     Option 1
    Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
    Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
    This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

    I click to load Firefox (3.6.12). The Comodo firewall warns me that Firefox is trying to connect to the Net. I block it, because I've not asked Firefox to do that, at that point. Then, when the Firefox window opens, the firewall warns me, again, that Firefox is trying to access the internet. I block it then, too. Use of Firefox is completely uncompromised by me doing this - that much is clear.
    Surely, if I have turned off automatic updates and use "about:blank" as my browser startup page, Firefox has no need, and no place, attempting to connect to the internet until I ask it to, by clicking a bookmark in the Bookmarks toolbar, or until I type a URL into the address bar.
    What is Firefox trying to do? and how can I stop it from trying to do it?
