Removing ad.yieldmanager spyware

I believe my power-pc mac mini has been infected with the insidious spyware known as "ad.yieldmanager.com". I've been getting pop-up windows with "about:blank" in the adress bar and I've noticed that i've been getting small pop-up ads on the sides of web pages. They're almost like little tabs. A couple of months back my pc was infected with this stupid spyware and I had no option but to reformat it because no matter what I did it kept coming back. I think its infected my mac through a usb I used on the infected pc, so now I'm worried its infected by other two macs as well, as well as all my backup files on an external HD. Last night I searched my computer and deleted anything called "ad.yieldmanager" and today I'll be deleting my cache and cookies as well, but this didn't work for the pc so I'm afraid it might not work for the mac either Could the mac mini be infected by something else? Is there any way I can save my mac mini, salvage what's left of my back-up files and prevent my newer computers from being infected? Also, does anybody know who created this stupid spyware in the first place?
My mac mini is the original 1st generation one and currently runs on Mac OS X 10.4.11.
Thanks in advance.

Not really spyware, just a tracking cookie which can be easily eliminated by doing what you have already done. You didn't mention what you use for a browser, but with Safari all you needed to do was bring up Safari Preferences->Security and click on the Show Cookies button.  Then scan down until you find ad.yieldmanager.com and click the Remove button.  You can also get rid of all cookies by choosing Reset Safari... from the Safari menu, then checking the box for Remove all cookies. But this will cause you to loose cookies that may contain things which make your browser experience better (e.g. it will forget all the "Remember Me" settings).
None of the behavior you described is consistent with tracking cookies. All they do is record the sites you visit and perhaps some of the information you enter while there.
There are over 1100 known tracking cookies in existence today. MacScan claims there are 8000 and will remove them all for a price. I block most all of them by using an extension called Ghostery which you can read about here. There is at least one other choice available.

  • Removal of ad.yieldmanager?

I have been having pop ups when navigating the web using safari. I posted a question on this topic earlier, and someone suggested MacScan to get rid of the problem. It removed almost every spyware it found on my mac, but I was still getting a few pop ups when using safari, and every time I ran MacScan, it showed the tracking cookies to be coming from something called ad.yieldmanager. Does anyone know any way I can get rid of and prevent this yieldmanager from harming my mac from now on? Thank you for any help.

    HI,
Look in ~/Library/Internet Plugins and /Library/Input Managers. See if the file is hiding in one of those folders. ( ~ is your Home Folder).
If not, go here and get App Delete
AppZapper is another good utility for removing unwanted files.
With Safari open, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences - AutoFill. Click the Edit button
next to: Other forms Then delete the ad.yeildmanager url and click Done. Relaunch Safari.
Please take a moment and click My Settings on the right side of this window and tell us which Mac OS X you are running. Thanks! Trouble shooting can differ from one operating system to the next.

  • How do you remove malware/spyware on MacBook Pro?

Hi, I think I might have picked up malware/spyware when I had a spoofing/phishing incident while trying to purchase an item online. I ended up noticing that when I go to other websites such as Ebay, when I attempt to make a purchase, I am redirected to a page that gives me a warning that I am not in a safe site and there is a button that redirects me to "Return to Safety". It seems that my ability to make any purchase is blocked. How do I remove this malware/spyware on my MacBook Pro? I have a 2011 edition with OS X 10.9.5 with a processor 2 Ghz Intel Core i7. I also started noticing that when I go to certain websites, i.e. Ebay, the layout looks very different from what I'm used to. I also noticed that my computer is running really slow, it takes a lot longer to load pages. I am really concerned that I picked up some really bad stuff that could be very dangerous.  I cleared my caches and went ahead and changed my passwords to my various accounts online but other than that what else can I do to protect myself? Is there a way to identify and isolate where the problem is? and what I can do to remove it? Thanks soooo much.

It is a phishing scam pop-up.

If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac, and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.) You might consider adding this Safari extensions: Adblock Plus 1.8.9.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.

Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

  • Free Anti-Virus/Spyware Program?

Are there any good, free anti-virus/spyware programs out there to protect my Mac? Ones that remove Mac viruses/spyware as well as Windows ones too? I know there aren't nearly as many threats out there for a Mac compared to Windows, but they are still out there so I want to be safe and know my Mac is secure.
I'm an ex-PC user of many years so I am used to having some comfort knowing I have protection...

there are some trojans and I think keyloggers exist too but they can't be installed without your active participation. meaning you have to download it, install it and enter your admin password. These things are sometimes disguised. there were a few posts recently by people who got a trojan while visiting adult websites the trojan was disguised as a codec that they were prompted to install to view certain content. However, currently that's pretty much the only way something like this can get into your Mac. If you use a standard account for normal computer operation and take minimal reasonable precautions about what you install on your system there is no need for extra protection.

  • Spyware Problems [I Spy Now]

My computer told me this spyware called ISpyNow has infected my computer. Since then, I havent been able to use the internet, and it freezes my computer whenever I try to act against it using an Anti-Spyware program. I went into Safe Mode, both normal and Network, and it wont allow me to install or use any anti spyware, saying that the Admisitrator has set policies to prevent this installation. Im only on here by luck; it wouldnt even let me use messengers before.
If I could get some advice, or hopefully some online tech support, that would be lovely. Im using a Dell Dimension 3000 with Windows XP Home Edition, with Firefox as my main browser, due to IE's stubborn behavior that began two years ago. Oh, also, I use BitDefender as my main Anti Virus. I havent been using Anti-anythingelse, but I did install Search And Destroy anti-spyware that was given to me by my computer repair teacher, but in safe mode it says it hasnt been installed. I hope this is enough information to get some good results. Ill be glad to answer any further questions.
PS: System Restore will not work. Ive tried multiple times, but it stops on the last page. I hit next, and it stays up without doing anything. My anti-virus scans run, but they find nothing.

This is a nasty sort of infection. Here's a removal sent you can use to put it into a somewhat useable condition. After this though, I would reccomend taking it to the local presinct to get it de-bugged, but this will make it so you will have the best chance of success.
1: find a USB flash memory stick. Size does not matter.
2: on another computer download these three files:
    Malwarebytes Antimalware
    Malwarebytes signatures
    Combofix
3: once these are downloaded, go to the infected computer and restart it, while tapping F8 like mad. It may beep, but this is ok. Soon it will come to a new menu, asking if you wish to enter Safe Mode at the top. Choose that one.
4: once in, it may ask you to select an account. If it does, chose Administrator.
5: A box will pop up explaining that we are in safe mode. Choose ok.
6: the desktop may look a little wonky, but this will go away after a bit.
7: plug in the USB memory card.
on the memory card, INSTALL malwarebytes Antimalware.
Once it is installed, run the update file. This will put in the newest detection rules into it.
8: run Combofix. This program will take a while to run, but it is VERY through and removes many rogue spyware infecitons. It will restart your computer.
9: once it is restarted, it will make a log. Ignore it unless we still have issues.
10: click start, right click my computer, and go to properties. In thi new box there is a tab that says  System restore. Check the box that says "turn off system restore". The infection may hide in there to restore itself. Click ok, and wait for 45 seconds or more.
11: run a full scan with malwarebytes.
12: once this is done, remove anything it finds, and leave the Combofix log on the desktop for the Agent, and take it in for a full virus removal.

  • How I've Eluded Soundblaster Driver incompatibilities for all these years

Hi I just want to share my experience on Soundblaster. It's been several years since the X-Fi's release. I was then using the original SB li've 5. to my original 53 units of computer in my PC internet and Gaming Shop. All these years I had to replace unit after unit as it grows old and manifest system problems but never would have failed to put soundblaster as a soundcard for that particular new or replaced unit. I have jumped from SB li've 5. to audigy series and then as of now X-Fi extreme music. And so far in my entire life I have never encountered a single problem out of soundblaster not even in a single unit of my PCs. And because Iam puzzled with all the complaints when I visit here. I pity all of you guys and I decided to make this post for a reason that it might help some of you as it had helped me through all my Creative experience years.
Ok here are the some simple steps I've been using and have acquired all these years and never did it failed me:
.You must know the inside and out of your PC. Find out all the drivers that has been installed from the past and present in your pc. This is generally important so that if you will have compatibility problem in the future you can start scanning and eliminating some incompatible drivers one at a time. If you don't know you can always go to "Run" and type:"regedit" and press "enter" and you will find all your drivers and activities you've done and currently making there. basically, everything as in everything even the secret of all secret funny things you've done in your pc from the past and present. Yes you can find all the things about you computer there. "If you familiarize yourself with your pc in the registry editor, you become one with your computer."
    2. Before installing soundblaster soundcard, Be sure to "UNINSTALL ALL THE EXISTING SOUNDCARD DRIVERS" your closest friend might say it's okay I've tested it myself it doensn't matter if you uninstall the existing soundcard driver it or not. Never believe him/her, remember "The enemy of your enemy isn't always your enemy too." your pc has a different build content depending on your activities from the past and present with your friends have; and this will be a big factor if you are installing sensiti've drivers like creative's. Ignoring this often results to system problems of incompatibilities. Thus, you start to cry and blame creative for all the stupidity you just caused yourself.
    3. After installing and you decide to restart now go to you "SYSTEM BIOS" and "turn off" your onboard soundcard there if you currently have one.
    4. If you decide to reinstall the driver because you felt you've missed something. It never hurts to "ALWAYS UNINSTALL FIRST" And then install the current driver again.
    5. Lastly, guess you've heard this one "Never fix your PC, if it ain't broke." If you try to overclock your PC a dozen or hundred times and you "suddenly forgot" the "last oveclock activity" you've made and then after a week you discovered you suddenly have a sound problem in your Battlefield 2 when the last time you played it the sound were okay. After a couple of hours of trying to reinstall and you've abide to all the right procedures installing above and still finds the sound in bf2 sucks. Don't panic and come blaming creai've again with your stupidity cause you just broke the general law and tried to fix something that ain't broke.
    6. One more thing, never use very cheap, never heard motherboard that you personally insist it's too good for you. Some motherboards are genuinely incompatible with soundblaster X-fi as of now because the driver is in early stage. Early adopters usually gets hit with this.
Important: When uninstalling past creative drivers, actually to all the drivers in my case, just to be sure. Go to registry editor and erase all the hidden dll files and clutters. soundblaster drivers are not ordinary driver that once you uninstall this its all gone?.. No, it's not gone at all, In fact, soundblasters drivers are embedded so deep in your system that some people need driver cleanup softwares so that the hidden remaining dll files will be totally wiped out; problem is some bogus driver clean up softwares are in rage for years and there's a big chance that you would catch one, most specially the one that comes in free. But If you familiarize yourself in the registry editor, There's no software that can erase all the hidden files and dlls better than you would do it manually.Done this for years and it never did failed me.
***not so important in the process but better get rid of it st just to be sure anyway it's easy as .2..3... Try to remove all the spywares before installing by using Ad-Aware,Spybot search and destroy and microsoft ad remove software. Don't just try to use one, some spywares are just as stubborn as humans are.Message Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:00 AMMessage Edited by spenz on 04-7-2006 04:03 AM

*Edited due to length of post and the normal troubleshooting BS that you hear every time one user has a problem.
Good post for general troubleshooting, but it doesn't sit to well with me when there are literally thousands who have these problems. Don't you think this will rub anyones nose in the dirt who through no fault of they're own has problems?
I for one have a good working x-fi but for someone to say that the multitude of problems are due to bad installations or viruses, i feel is downright insulting for the people who have reformatted, bought new hardware, and come up against a brick wall each and every time.
I know a lot of the time when it comes to pc's and they're faults its due to the person themselves and not the pc, but those people tend to be few in number and don't complain of the same symptoms over and over again.
It exists on very popular motherboards and at a guess i would say the x-fi is asking for to much bandwidth which certain chipsets can not supply.
A pci asking for to much bandwidth is not the fault of the user the pc or some other supernatural event, its the pci card itself, they should conform within the pci specifications and not go over what is set by a standard.

  • How to Change the Search Engine in Safari?

How can I change the Search engine?
I want to use google instead of Genieo. Everytime I open Safari it automatically redirect to Genieo and it really ******* me off! >_<

Back up all data, then remove the "Genieo" spyware by following the instructions on this page.
Some versions of the spyware may not be completely removed by those instructions. If you still have problems, do as follows.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    Then reboot.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extension you don't recognize. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Adobe flash player crashing in Chrome

    Hi.
I have a problem with Flash that sarted about two days ago. Chrome will automatically update for any new flash update. Unfortunantly, for some reason my flash plug in will crash whether I am streaming video, using xat.com, using facebook and playdom programs which rely heavily on flash, ad infin item.
I checked for the kill bit as suggested in a previous line, but that will do me no good as I do not use IE anyhow. This is a new install of Windows 64 bit Enterprise, on a quad core system. Prior to this incident, I had reports from clients telling me that they were blue screening in xp with the flash plug in crash, and when I had them click on the management system in XP, they all came back with the same thing. Flash had crashed and taken their computer with it. I remember having seen a similar problem to this at the inception of flash 8, during the height of the myspace usage, and I myself encountered the same blue screen issue back then. I realize that this is two versions newer, but could the xp users be encountering a similar bug?
And as for Windows 7, it does not blue screen. It does however, freeze the machine so that you have to reboot the thing. It is so frozen that even a Cntrl-Alt-Del will not kill the system, and so you have to resort to physically powering down the machine and restarting. As a MCP Gold partner, I use Enterprise as I said, and there is no spyware or viruses on this machine. My virus scanner is Microsoft Security essentials, I also use Malwarebytes to remove particularly nasty spyware off of other peoples machines. I do not enounter spyware much myself. I need to find an answer for myself and my clients, as I use xat pretty regularly to tech other customers machines before a remote.
I have removed and reinstalled Chrome to no avail. Opera has been having flash problems that *I* am aware of for about a month now. FF4.0 just came out, so thats gonna be buggy and I know it. And IE8 with Bing is a waste of time.
It would be great to understand the workings of this update and understand WHY it is causing these issues. And any suggestions on fixing this would be appreciated. I would say that it seems to be browser related, not just affecting those with one particular OS.
    Thank you.
    Katte

All drivers are up to date. The hardware accelerator in my case isn't active. If you want a breakdown of hardware and my windows version number I will be happy to provide you with the info. But like I said, its not just me. I have about 35 mad customers right now. I am gonna have them try to use your fix. In the meantime, what else comes to mind?
(BTW, device drivers are always the first thing for me to update, then checking Microsoft updates)
Thanks for your help so far.

  • ITunes+Quicktime install crashes - no error

Ok, I'm not the only one having this problem, but I've tried the solutions provided and none of them have accomplished anything.
Basically I run the iTunes/QT installer, it appears to run through just fine. At the end it uninstalls/deletes iTunes.
    System:
    WindowsXP Home
    SP2
768 MB RAM, 41.6GB Free HDD space
I'm not running any anti-virus services (I scan my computer on occasion, but I am behind a firewall so viruses don't really concern me). I have run CCleaner, Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D to remove any registry/spyware problems (there were very few).
Other things (suggested from the websites) that I have done:
-Made sure the iTunes Helper service was running through msconfig
    -Deleted my temp folder
-Deleted old QuickTime & iTunes folders from c:\Program Files
    -Run the MSI cleanup utility
I can't see why this is occuring. v4 was running fine, I decided to upgrade to 6 to find out what I was missing. Now I'm missing iTunes entirely. Nice job so far guys.

    Hi,
You may disable antispyware and antivirus software or remove adware or spyware from your computer and then install Acrobat or Adobe Reader as BrianD_22932 mentioned.
As I known, a certain type of adware running on the system can cause 1935 errors.
I would like to suggest you remove adware and then install Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
    1. Start the Task Manager.
    2. Look at the Processes tab. Look for a  process named wtoolsa.exe.
    3. If this process is running, then you remove this adware.
    4. Install Acrobat or Adobe Reader again.
In some cases, the 1935 error results from orphaned registry keys from a different version of the .NET Framework than the one being installed. Uninstalling the .NET
frameworks, removing orphaned registry keys that can remain, then reinstalling the .NET Framework can help in this situation.
Regarding the error 1935, it seems this is a general Acrobat related issue, I would like to share the link below with you:

  • Vista-windows wireless service can't start......

Hi I have 2 XP desktops and a Vista Home laptop all sharing internet through a lynksys wireless router for weeks. I've had no problems untill a couple days ago, the Vista laptop suddenly couldnt see the network let alone connect to it. The WIFI light is on. Ive tried the useless repair connection button but it says "windows wireless service is not running on this computer" so i click repair only to be told it cant fix the problem. Is ther a way to start the service? I cant find it in services.mcs or msconfig. I ran sfc /scannow and it said there were errors but they couldnt be fixed. Ive tried everything and called Dell tech support but they say it has to be an OS error and all i can do is backup and reinstall the whole OS but I would prefer not to. Any ideas? Please help!!!!!!

    Hi again,
As you all had the same problem, I had it too. I got a nasty virus/spyware and my anti-virus didn't got it.
After removing the virus/spyware, and when I wasn't able to use my wireless internet connection became really really frustrating including the fact that no internet resource was available on this issue.
After investigating a little, I tried to restore my windows services to the original state. After typing 'windows vista default services' in Google I found a script that supposed to do what I was needed. That site contained also a description for each windows service, so this way I found out about the wireless service that was shut-down, and that couldn't be started because of a missing dependency (that couldn't be started using the windows software (I forgot the name for it .
So looking at the script (the one for defaulting the state of windows services), and finding the name for that dependency that was stopped by that mallware, I did it a try and it worked.
So, funny thing, I'm not a windows fan ("Long live UNIX"), my expertise with windows is fairy limited, and with a little luck I figured out.
Why I was so stubborn? I had to chat with my girlfriend
Funny thing though is that some one stoled my laptop 1 mo later and I lost my girlfriend too )
Regarding the answer to the question if your computer is still infected.... I have no idea....

That looks to me as if a Time Machine backup completed, a little time went by, and the it rebooted. I need to catch another couple of reboots to see if it's the same sequence. It doesn't look like Time Machine did it.
Has anyone seen this? Or better yet, solved it?
    Bob

This is a very complex picture. I'll address only the most important points. Back up all data before making any changes.
    A.
First of all, you have a hardware problem. Most likely, it's the Accelsior device, which has been reported several times to cause instability. You will have to remove it in order to rule it in or out as a suspect. You might have a failing GPU, but I'm not sure.
    B.
You installed, and then incompletely removed, the "Genieo" spyware.
Quit the Genieo application, if it's running. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /etc/launchd.conf
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder will open with a file selected. Move the file to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password.
IMPORTANT: You must move the above file to the Trash it before continuing. Otherwise the system will become unbootable. In that case, restore from your backup and start over. That's how badly Genieo has sabotaged your system.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Applications/Genieo.app
    /Applications/Uninstall Genieo.app
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file doesn't exist. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
    Reboot.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This procedure may leave a few files behind, but it should deactivate Genieo. Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install it. Chances are you got it from one of the Internet's open sewers such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again.
    C.
Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock all your user files, reset their ownership, and remove their access-control lists. If you've set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
