Removing Add-ons in Windows 7

With Windows XP we were able to remove two .sbo files from local machines to have SAP reinitialize / reinstall the assigned add-ons when there were sisues, but that file structure does not exist in Windows 7.
FYI:  the two .sbo files were:  AddOnsIInstall.sbo and AddOnsLocalRegistration.sbo.
I have removed the two troublesome add-ons through the Programs section of the Control Panel and have removed the Application Data files (for SAP) along with the residual Program Files data (for SAP) and have even removed add-on info from the registry.
Logging into SAP still does not prompt the add-ons to re-install.  Does anyone have a fix for this?
I suspect there are other files I need to delete or I need to find those .sbo files somewhere.
Thanks in advance folks!
Regards,
Dan Berube

  • How do you identify and remove add-ons/extensions

The explanation of how to remove add-ons tells you to click on menu (and then 3 parrelel bars) What menu is that? I figured out(by trying each and every menu until I figured out it was the tools menu. when I get to the last step it says click the remove button. There is NO remove button at that point (just an enable button which is the last thing I want to do. I am talking about the Cinema ploos extension. It represents it's self as an upgrade with many improved features, but all it is is an add bot that is noisy and obnoxious and they want a one time fee (extorsion) to remove it

  • "Checking Compatability of Add-ons" Update window at each startup & redirects to a welcome page. Tried disabling all add-ons & updates / force compatability checker. Thoughts?

Each time I start Firefox a "Checking Compatibility of Add-ons" update window appears, which redirects me to a welcome to Firefox 5.0 page with my normal home page in another tab. I tried disabling all add-ons and updates as well as the force compatibility checker. I think my AVG safe-search bar might be causing the problem, but I have it disabled and never use it. Please help me get rid of this.

  • Error 175 .- CC needs admin right to install or remove add-ons - Windows 7 -

Sync files is turned on and I updated all my CC apps but can't install the Kuler extension for PS CC 2014 and other add-ons.  Also, constantly getting pop-up  notification "Need Admin Rights to install add-ons"."Error 175 " "Installation failed" . Windows 7, desktop & laptop.  Please help to resolve this issue. Thanks. Giulio

In my understanding, you have acquired some add-ons at https://creative.adobe.com/addons, but Adobe Creative Cloud application failed to install them due to that you didn't provide the administrator right.
You can restart Adobe Creative Cloud application, then it will try to re-install all the failed add-ons, and the notification will pop-up again. You can click it and provide the administrator right.

  • Give me and easy way to remove ADD ONS why should it be so difficult

We need to easily remove ADD_ON.
your instructions talk about a remove button that DOSE NOT EXIST.
I have downloaded the up dated Firefox 3 times today !!! BUT NO REMOVE BUTTON
when are you going to fix this problem!!!!!!!!

I looked at your screen shot, and it looks like all of you add-ons were
disabled. Did you do that? Try to right click on one add-on and see if
you get a menu. If nothing seems to work, there is a last resort. You can
reset Firefox to its factory settings. This will remove all add-ons and any
settings you have made. Bookmarks and history should not be lost.
    ==================================
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. <br>
'''Note''': ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.''
*Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
    #Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

  • Cannot remove add-ons anymore... only option is to disable them now.

As the question states.. with firefox 5.0, I'm no longer able to uninstall/remove addon-ons or extensions.... only disable them... then re-enable if I choose too. If an add-on is causing stability issues, I want it off my computer completely.... not just disabled.

Sorry, I had not noticed that the images in those links have not be updated for Firefox 4 and 5. In Firefox 4 and 5 the Add-ons open in a tab display instead of a separate small window as in prior versions. Along the left side are categories (Extensions, Appearance (formerly Themes), and Plugins).
Those must be Extensions as they do not show in your Plugins reported with your post.

  • How to access downloaded add ons in windows 8

add ons show in manage addons area, how do find them so I can use them icons not in customize tool bar option McAfee site check add on in on add on bar at bottom but other add ons are not

did a test run of this suggestion on my desktop PC - all worked as detailed in answer. Was able to add/remove icons easily. The icons were also on the view/tools list of options.
On my lap top when I select tools/add ons the add ons are listed (showing what the icon looks like too) the enable/disable box read 'disable' for both add ons
When view/toolbar/customize is selected the add on icons are not present in the box nor on the tool bar
I reset toolbars to default setting with no effect

  • Whenever I open a new window (including when I first open Firefox), the "add-ons update" window pops up. How do I keep this from happening?

    This just started this week.

Go to the Tools menu and click on Add-ons, then see if there are any add-on updates pending. If so, install the updates.
If you no longer want to be notified about new add-on updates, you can go to the Update tab in your Firefox Preferences "Advanced" panel and uncheck the Add-ons option. See [[Options window - Advanced panel]] for details.

  • How to enable removed add-ons?

I accidentally removed one of my add-ons on firefox and i try to reinstall firefox but it doesn't help me solve my problem

If you removed an add-on, re-install that add-on.

  • The add-ons tool window hangs when I click Options for any add-on

This morning, IE8 showed up as the default browser. Also, the Lastpass button was missing. When I click Tools-Add-ons and click the Options button for any add-on, the window hangs. Sometimes it hangs FF as well.

I resolved this by using a different add-on.
I was issued a new computer at work. It's a Windows 7 Dell E6410, and I was configuring a new installation of Firefox for it. I had downloaded the same URL shortening tool that I used on my old Windows XP IBM T60 computer. That add-on had the hang when you click on "Options" from the Tools > Add-ons menu. After uninstalling the add-on, I searched for a different URL shortening tool, and this one did NOT produce the hang.

  • I can't remove add-ons in Thunderbird 24.5.0.

On-line instructions say there should be a "Remove" control, but I do not see it.

OK. I got rid of it using the method at the first link, and I also got rid of some other junk that way (Norton, etc.). But the thing that I noticed is that "Plug-Ins" in both TB and FF DO NOT have a remove control - that only exists in the "Extensions" list. I have a bunch of unused extensions I would rather delete than have hanging around, but the only choice I have is the mode of activation (never, always, ask). Am I missing something?

  • Can't remove add ons from status bar

I added weather apps at bottom status bar after app dissapeared. The new ones take up the whole bar and I don't like it. Now I can't get rid of them.

how did you uninstall that software? did you simply trash the application? that wasn't the proper way to do it since the app used an installer to install. there should be an uninstaller that came with that app. try using that. you might have to reinstall that software first. if that doesn't work then you have to search out what exactly that software installed. there could be login items. check those in system preferences->accounts. or there could be some launch daemons. check homedirectory/Library/Launchagents, /Library/launchagents and /Library/launchdaemons. but definitely try the uninstaller first.

  • How do I REMOVE an ADD-ON from my TOOLBAR, when said ADD-ON does NOT show up in my ADD ONS Manager?

    I have been instructed to:
"When you open Firefox up in the left hand corner there is a drop down box that says "Firefox". Click on this and go to add-ons a new page will open with tabs on the side.
Click on ADD-ONS, use ADD-ON Manager...."
That does not happen that way. (I am on Firefox 19.0 for MAC.)
When I click on Firefox (left hand corner at top of screen) "ADD-ONS" does NOT appear.
I get "preferences" and "services" plus, of course ABOUT/HIDE/SHOW/QUIT choices.
Running through ALL choices in PREFERENCES (which was not included as a step in your description) I find NO WAY to "deal with" ADD-ONS in General, Security, Privacy or Advanced.
"services" says only NO SERVICES APPLY"
I KNOW that I have an "ADD-ON Manager" I can open that. The ADD-ON that I need to REMOVE/Uninstall/Disable does NOT show there.
It is an ICON on the lowest level of my toolbars showing above my window. Whether this is an awesome bar, or any other specially named bar I can't tell you, but: LOWEST section.
This creepy ADD-ON (that I never personally installed) is called PRICEGONG - and it is now opening up a pop-up on all my eBay pages and elsewhere -trying to sell me things.
It is wasting SO much of my time and I need to get it gone.
WHAT do I do now? The PRICEGONG company has explanation of what to do to uninstall, but (no surprise) THEIR instructions/steps do not match reality either. RESULT: I can't get RID of this thing and am wasting huge amounts of time now with it.
    WHAT CAN I DO?

hello, the addons manager is exactly the right place to look for it. please try disabling the addons that are listed there one-by-one (a restart of the browser might be necessary after each step). maybe one of them is bundling this kind of adware.

I use Firefox as a secondary browser. I installed "Bring me Sports" by Mindspark Interactive and I want to remove it. I installed it through Firefox and it is not showing up in my start menu. I use Windows Vista and my primary browser is Internet Explorer 9.

Programs and plug-ins are third-party software. You uninstall them from the Windows Control Panel.
Add-ons like extensions and themes are uninstalled from Firefox.
    # To open the Add-ons Manager, press the ≡ Menu Button and choose Add-ons, or press Ctrl+Shift+A.
    # Click Extensions on the left.
    # Click the Remove button next to the extension you want to uninstall.
    # Restart Firefox for the change to take effect.
