Removing Adobe's Hidden Opera Install from Finder Menus

Is there a way to remove application's from the Finder's "Open With..." menus without removing the application?
Adobe (stupidly) installs multiple copies of Opera (hidden in packages) as a part of several of its applications and supporting components, so if once you've installed a couple Adobe apps, you've got several Opera's installed, each of which shows up in the Finder's "Open With..." menu.

Maybe I wasn't clear above: I use the Adobe applications and components I mention above and don't want to delete them. None of them work without Opera, so I can't delete that either.
The problem arises because, instead of putting Opera in the Applications folder where I could update and manage it normally (or instead of shipping some Opera components that don't act like an app), Adobe sticks a full-fledged Opera app in each of several different packages. So if you have Photoshop installed, for example, there are two supporting apps that get installed with it, each of which has a (different and outdated) version of Opera installed as an integral component. If these copies of Opera never showed up anywhere, it would just be bloat; but because they're apps, they show up as distinct entries in the Finder menus. So, if I also have a current version of Opera in Applications, just installing Photoshop gets me three different Operas in the "Open With..." menu.

You shouldn't have two different versions installed anyway - so yes. You may find it best to uninstall both, then put Reader XI back.

  • Need to remove adobe premiere elements 8.0 from my computer

need to delete adobe premiere elents from my computer and make sure there are no files in my registry please help

Uninstalling Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 from your computer using Control Panel/Programs does get the program uninstalled, but does not
    answer your question which included.
make sure there are no files in my registry.
And, it does not deactivate the program from your computer. Deactivation is not the same as uninstall.
    1. Open Premiere Elements 8.0/8.0.1 to its Timeline workspace, then Help Menu/Deactivate. Close out of there.
    2. Assuming you are working on Windows 7, 8,  or 8.1 64 bit, go next to Control Panel/Programs, find Adobe Premiere Elements 8.0, and uninstall it.
    3. Download and install the free ccleaner and do a run through of the computer using its regular cleaner and its registry cleaner parts.
    CCleaner - Download
    4. After that is complete, use Run, type in regedit, and, in the Registry Editor, go to Edit Menu/Find
In the Find dialog's Find what:, type in Adobe Premiere Elements 8, and do a Find, Delete, Find Next until there are no more Finds for that what you have typed into the Find what field.
Remember if you are dealing with the registry here. If no experience in this area, then keep away from this and settle for deactivation, uninstall, and wherever the ccleaner has to offer, may not be 100%, but close to it.
Please let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Removing Adobe imageready auto-process commands from Open With

Ever since installing photoshop cs2 with imageready cs2, whenever I go to open with> after right clicking on an image file, it gives me dozens of exe's such as "constrain to 64x64 pixels.exe" that I can open with file with. It makes the list so long I can't quickly find the program I actually want to use to open the file...how do I get these things off my open with menu?

    Hi, P.Q.
I use Photoshop 7 and ImageReady 7. Those .exe files are Photoshop and ImageReady Droplets. Since they're executable files that can open images, they appear in the Open With list for any image. This is controlled by Launch Services, which identifies the apps that can open a specific type of file.
On my version of Photoshop they reside in the folder
    /Applications/Adobe Photoshop 7/Samples/Droplets
with subfolders therein for Photoshop Droplets and ImageReady Droplets.
I suspect you'd find a similar folder in your PS CS2 folder within Applications. They're basically samples of how one can automate repetitive tasks in those applications and save the sequence of actions as a droplet so one can merely drop an image on the droplet to perform the actions specified in the droplet.
You could simply trash the Droplets folder cited above, then restart your Mac.
A more conservative approach —  and the one I would use — would be to create an Archive of the Droplets folder and save that somewhere, e.g. your Documents folder, in case you need them again, before trashing the Droplets folder and then restarting your Mac.
I suspect the Samples folder was installed by default when you installed PS and IR, but could have been omitted with a Custom Install of those apps.
    Good luck!

  • Removing Adobe Reader

I am using a PC with XP sp3.
I don't seem to be able to remove Adobe Reader 10.0.1 from my hard drive. When I try to use"MS's add/remove programs" to remove Reader, the msg I get is "feature is on a resource that is unavailable".  When I go to the actual file under Programs and try to put the Adobe file folder into the trash, the msg I get is "Cannot delete Identity-H".  (I can't find that file as a separate file in MS search.) What do I do?
I want to start over with a reinstall of v10.1.0 because I keep getting an "updating Adobe Reader" message every few days, and I sense that this too often.  Can my unremovable version of Adobe Reader have been compromised with a key logger or some virus that is sending out some of my data, rather than actually updating my installed version, as often as every few days?

Your Reader installation may be corrupted; use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility (http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459) to remove the corrupted installation.

  • Remove Adobe Cloud from my desktop and install on a new computer

What do I need to do to remove Adobe Cloud from my desktop and install on a new computer?

    Hi G2video,
I would like to inform that you can install and activate Creative Cloud desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating system, for the individual associated with the Creative Cloud membership.
If you've already installed Creative Cloud on 2 machines then you need to deactive it from one of the machine.
To deactivate, you can click on the product and then go to Help> Deactivate.
To uninstall the apps follow the link mentioned below:

Let us know if it helps,
    Thanks!

Already have Pages 4.1 installed.  Same files will open ok from Finder/Pages App./selected file. Prob not noted until recently after sync'd with ipad2 (Pages) when I installed iOS5. Anyone-- please?!

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Is it possible to remove Adobe PDF 8.0 from the list in "Add Printers"

When I add a printer on my system, there is a printer named "Adobe PDF 8.0" on the Add Printer list. I believe that this is a remnant left over from previous versions of the operating system (from Leopard or so). Can this item be deleted from this list? It isn't functional at all, and I'd rather not have it cluttering up the list. I've searched through the system looking for anything that could be causing this item to be listed there, but there appears to be no .PPD file or any entry in a .plist file that I can find. I've seen other people asking about this printer, but more from the perspective of "how to get it working" or "how do I print to PDFs now?". That isn't my question. I just want to nuke this item from my "Add Printers" list like it never happened. Thanks for any leads you can offer.
See screen shot below if you are confused as to what I am talking about. The top "Adobe PDF 8.0" is from my computer. The second one is something someone is incorrectly sharing from their computer (which I will remove as soon as I get access to it).

I tried manually removing some files but still the Adobe PDF 8 appeared in the Add Printers > Default view.
I then ran the Adobe Acrobat uninstaller and this successfully stopped the Adobe PDF 8 "printer" from appearing. Thankfully the Uninstaller also created a log file that I have posted below showing all that was removed from the Mac. Note that you probably don't have all the files listed, especially if you have already removed Acrobat 8 from this Mac, but if you remove the files that are remaining then this will be sure to stop the printer from appearing.

  • Can't find adobe flash player after installing

I have downloaded and installed the latest version (12) of Adobe Flash Player on my Windows 7 computer.  I checked the help page and it says it is installed and I see the clouds moving.  However, I cannot find the program on my computer.  I am trying to watch some movie video clips from a website and it keeps saying I have to have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player to watch it.  I have downloaded and installed it 5 times now to no avail.   I have turned off my computer and turned it back on each time.  I have Norton Internet Security but I told it to allow it when it installed.  I really want to watch the movie clips.  Where can it be and why doesn't it run?  Thanks to anyone who can help me.  (I am not really technical so please make it not too difficult if you can).

Try another browser.   Here's why I say that.
    "User-Agent Strings"
That doesn't mean a lot, I'm sure, but it's the root of your problems, and Flash Player has nothing to do with it.
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.
The problem with an unidentified browser is that the plug-ins in that browser aren't recognized either, so even though you're up to date, it says you need the latest Flash Player when you use IE11. YouTube... has converted to HTML5 video so if it doesn't detect Flash Player, it can display HTML5 (MP4) video which requires no plug-in to play. Facebook can't do that, because HTML5 doesn't apply to games... only video.
Microsoft has no plans to "fix" the mess thay've created because they think it's a great idea to block you out of the websites you visit.
They recommend using "Compatibility View" and pretending that you're using an older verison of IE... Problem with that is that it's seen limited success, and you have to enable it for EVERY page that has problems... individually.
I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.
