Removing AppleID from iMac memory

I'm selling my mid-2011 iMac 21.5 and I'm in the process of removing my info from this machine.  The only place my name/ID shows up is when I start iMessage.  The mac remembers my Apple ID (it's not logging in) and I cannot figure out how to remove that info from auto populating.
What I've done:
Reset PRAM
Reset SMC
What I'm trying above is plan B, plan A didnt go so well:
I've also read all the threads about reinstalling the original OS, but this model came with OS X Lion and did not inlcude disks.  It now has OS X Mavericks and when I try to do a OS reinstall it wants my Apple ID (on hold with apple now).
thanks,

In order to be able to sell the Mac with the original system installed, you can simply use internet recovery - hold Command + Option + R upon restart/boot up. Use the disk utility to completely wipe your drive and it will then reinstall the original system (Lion) on the machine. This process will satisfy the SLA requirements.
Also, you need to un-register your Mac and OS here:
https://daw.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/DSAuthWeb.woa/wa/classicLogin?appIdKey= 58ef9db8ff4d201409e7270a68e4408ae1678e1618204c476572a1b5e5fb3518&path&language=U S-EN
These steps are necessary as your current OS's license is not transferable and tied to your Apple ID - any buyer would not be able to reinstall the OS - ever. Following above steps will allow a smooth transfer and the buyer will be able to reinstall/update with their own Apple ID.

  • ACE - removing script from ACE memory

    Hi,
I played with scripted probes and now I can't remove script from ACE memory... because I have no 'script file NN SCRIPT_NAME' in my running config, therefore I can't remove script from memory with 'no script file NN'.
When I try delete file from disk0: and upload modified file (with the same file name), 'sh file disk0:SCRIPT_NAME' shows correct file content, but 'sh script code SCRIPT_NAME' is wrong (because script is loaded in memory).
How it's possible to unload script from memory if no 'script file NN script_name' in running config exists?
    martin

    Martin,
    this is a bug.
The 'no script file ' should be enough to remove the script from memory.
I checked the code and this is something that can easily be fixed.
I will submit a new ddts.
Thanks for pointing this issue to us.

  • Remove computer from printer memory (scan to computer) SOLVED

Recently I replaced some computers at home.
When I want to use the option "scan to computer" the old computers are still listed and I have no clue how to remove them from the printermemory. Is there a way to do this ?

    Problem solved.
I used the "return to factory settings" in the menu.
I had tried that earlier, but without result.
    This time it worked fine.

  • Clearing old erroneous address info from imac memory

When I type in addresses, Address book automatically fills in the rest of the address. This is great except when it keeps putting in old adresses that are no longer correct. I have made sure that the listing in Address Book is current and correct but I can't seem to clear the old ones from the computers memory. Anyone have any ideas?

The Mail.app saves all message recipients in the list of Previous Recipients in Mail (which cannot be turned off) and the autofill feature pulls from the Address Book and the list of Previous Recipients.
At the Mail.app menu bar, go to Window and select Previous Recipients.
A previous recipient entered in the Address Book will have a vCard icon to the left of the name. You can remove a previous recipient from the list or add a previous recipient to the Address Book that is not already entered.
Removing a previous recipient from the list of Previous Recipients in Mail has no effect on Address Book entries.

  • Uninstalling/removing programs from iMac

I'm planning on getting an iMac in the coming months. I've been a windows user for 10 years and know the procedure for uninstalling unwanted programs on Windows.
I appologise if I've named something incorrectly, this is due to me been a Windows user
I've read that with some (but not all programs on the Mac), that its just a case of dragging the programs icon into the Trash can. But I also read that with some programs this does not get rid of all the program/program leftovers.
I was wondering if someone could tell me how you determine which programs can be dragged to the Trash can and are/will be completley removed. And which programs cannot be dragged to the Trash (because doing this would leave program leftovers) and in this case, how do you ensure that all of the program and the program's leftovers are completely removed from the Mac.
    Thanks in advance

    MartinR wrote:
Most Mac applications can be deleted just by dragging them to the Trash.  When there are 'leftovers' they are usually just preference files (plist files) or application support files that are usually located in /Library/Application Support.  Leaving these files in place rarely ever causes any problems.  (Unlike in Windows where leaving program artifacts in place can cause problems.)
If you have applications that came with an Uninstaller, by all means use the Uninstall program.   This is especially important with certain well-known applications including everything from Adobe.  The Adobe uninstaller not only removes all the application components but also deauthorizes the software (releases the license) so you can install it on another computer, or sell or gift it to someone else.
That said, you should basically never delete programs that are preinstalled by Apple.  This is especially important regarding QuickTime, Safari and all apps that are in the Applications/Utilities folder.  It would also be inadvisable to remove Dashboard, Expose, Spaces, System Preferences, Text Edit.
Also, be aware that certain programs are intimately related to others ... Mail depends on Address Book and iCal ... iTunes utilizes Image Capture.
Thanks very much for the help and information its greatly appreciated.
    When you mention:
'applications that came with an Uninstaller'
For example. If I downloaded an application from the internet. Usually there is a file that has the .dmg extension. If the application that I had downloaded came with an uninstaller, would there be another file with the download application called uninstaller.dmg  ?
I assume that any application that I had downloaded that did not come with an addition file/unistaller, then these could simply be dragged to the trash?

  • Removing bracket from iMAC 24'' display for transportation

    Hi-
I have a unique problem that I require some help. I need to transport the iMAC in a suitcase on an overseas trip and I need some help in removing the bracket. I do not want to experiment with it unless I know if it can be done.
Could you please let me know if it can be removed so I can package it safely and reassemble at the destination.
    Thanks in advance!

From my understanding of how the stand works, it is a removable part
and to take it off requires a special tool; the tool is one usually supplied
in the VESA kit, so once the VESA bracket is installed, the foot can
be removed so it won't be hanging in the way.
I'm not sure of the part number for the tool, but do know there is a
specific VESA mount kit (doesn't include wall bracket, etc) for the
iMac 24" and there is a mention of this detail in a fleeting fashion:
"VESA Mount Adapter Kit for 24-inch iMac"
With a tool in this kit, you can remove the iMac stand and attach
the VESA Mount Adapter to the computer.
Perhaps an authorized service technician can tell you what kind
of tip the tool (if like a screwdriver) has on it, so you can buy one.
[ Facts about VESA mount kit - 24" iMac ]
The comments section in this page may be helpful.
PS: There is a more specific discussions forum for Intel® Macs
here, and maybe someone has addressed the VESA and foot
    removal issue there.

  • Removing residue from iMac

Can anyone advise me on how to remove the sticky glue left over from my iMac packaging. The plastic sheaf that covers the iMac when it first arrives has a sticky label that, in my case, had also been stuck to part of the back of the computer. It's left a residue of glue on the white case. I've tried soap and a damp cloth, which doesn't work, but I'm not sure if anything stronger will affect the case? Any advice on what to use?

    Chris,
This happened to me once with some packaging tape adhesive residue.
You could try very soaking a cloth with some very warm water (not boiling, of course) and patching it over the residue for a few minutes--- this allows the steam from the cloth to loosen the grime. After that, you can try rubbing it off again, only this time, it should be easier. Certainly worked for me.
I am not sure that using something other than what was recommended in your manual for cleaning is a good idea (Basically just water). Stronger cleansers may have chemicals and solvents that can just dull or damage the finish of your casing even more.
    Hope this helps.

  • REMOVING  ADMINISTRATOR FROM iMac G4 Flat Screen

I have a new MacBook Pro and have given my iMac G4 Flatscreen to my wife for her personal use. I was the Original Administrator on the machine and she was a user. She is now also an Administrator and I wan't to delete all reference to my account and leave her as the only Administrator and with a clean hardrive without all my stuff clogging it up. How do I do that?

Log in from an administrator account other than the one you want to delete, and then use the Accounts pane of System Preferences to delete the unwanted account. Next, open the Users folder on the hard disk and look for a folder named Deleted Users; if you find it, delete everything inside which relates to the old account.

  • Safely Remove Hardware from iMac - how?

I'm new to Apple.  I have an iMac (fairly recent) - beats me if it is an "Intel" or a "PPC" .
I have my camera attached via a cable and I want to disconnect safely.  How do I do that?
I'd appreciate the help and thank you in advance.

Inspector should not have anything to do with the camera attachment...what kind of camera are you using and how is it attached?  Is it attached to one of the USB ports?  Attached to transfer files?
Does anything show on the desktop besides Macintosh Hard Drive, or something to that effect?  That is your internal hard drive and you definitely don't want to unmount that
You may have the camera showing up as "undefined" or "unidentified" as a storage item.  If you click on that and it opens and shows that it is the camera memory that is probably what you want to drop in the trash to eject.

  • How to remove MacProtector from iMac

Did a Google search, and clicked on one of the links. It told me my Mac was infected by Trojans and to install MacProtector. Did this but it kept saying that the installation could not be installed, but it is now showing in my Finder. I was just told that the MacProtector is actually the Virus. Need to know how to remove it.   Thanks !

not to sound like a jerk but how could you fall for that? i clean crap like this off of PCs every day and i'd figure the people who make them are really slick but i guess it's just as easy as "hey you're infected, install this". i've actually encountered people who PAY for fake A/V software just to be able to remove it....anyway, check out this discussion

  • Removing from objects  memory

    Hi
How do I load an object to memory and remove it?
    I mean if I create an object, like newObject anobject = new newObject();
will it be in the memory? I want to create an object and display it in a panel when a button is clicked and remove it from the memory when another object is loaded into the panel.
Also, in NetBeans IDE, how do I edit the code in the blue area?
    Thanks in advance :)

Well, its going to be a wizard like application, and I am creating all the panels required for the wizard in the main frame. All the GUI elements of each step of the wizard will be in a panel. What I want to do is, to remove the initial panel when the next panel is loaded to reduce load on memory.
I'm thinking if I dont, all the panels will be just there even if it is not seen because I'm using setVisible(true) to show the next step of the wizard and setVisible(false) to hide it when the next button is clicked.
Is there any other way to do it? What I would really like to do is create the new instance of the panel when a button is clicked and remove the instance when next button is clicked, but this doesnt seem possible.
    Thanks for the help :)
