Removing apps from iPhone

With excitement I loaded a bunch of apps, free and ones I paid for, on my new iPhone. Some of them it turns out just aren't what I want. How do I remove an app from the phone?

yea try the method for removing them from your phone directly, like roaminggnome said. since you did not know about that i assume you also did not know that you can move the apps around to other screens. for example on my home screen i have apps i use often for calls and adding contacts. then i have a screen for games only, one for often used websites, one for productivity apps and so on.
what is cool is you can also change which four apps are on the bottom. so no matter what screen you are on, the four most used apps are always there!

  • Removing Apps From iPhone App Store

    Hello,
I have been searching all over but I can't find a post on how to remove apps from the iPhone App Store purchased list. I have been able to do it in the past by swiping the app in the purchase list and selecting hide but it appears this function is disabled... Does anyone have any clue on how to do this now. Thank you

  • Removing Apps from iPhone using iTunes Apps Sync Apps doesn't work

Im trying to manage the space on my iPhone 4 16GB, so when I go on hiloday I have enough space for photos and vacation movies.
When plugged in, iTunes shows my apps in the Apps tab. (it actually shows an extra page of apps which are not installed on my phone)
In iTunes I used to hover over an app, click the x to remove, confirm the prompt to delete and finally, sync. The app was gone from my phone.
    Now this doesnt work.
The other way was to uncheck the app from my list of apps (in iTunes Apps tab), and then sync.
    This doesnt work either.
I'm sure I used to use this method previously.
This is especially handy because itunes lists the applications by size, so I can easily see the ones that will free up the most space.
Is there any way to remove apps from the iPhone WITHOUT DOING IT ON THE PHONE?
Note: I have 'Sync Apps' ticked & 'automatically sync new apps' unticked.
    Im running:
    Macbook Air 2012
    OS X 10.8.1 64 Bit
    Itunes 10.7(21) 64 Bit
    iPhone 4 iOS 6.0 (10A403)

Are the apps in your iTunes library using the same AppleID as the one signed into on your phone?

  • Remove app from iPhone

    hello
Recently my phone is damaged trough water. Now I have two problems.
The first problem is that I almost never connected my iPhone with my mac so the backup is really old. Is there maybe a way do backup with iCloud? I've read about it but I understand that I should have manually backup it with iCloud.
The second problem is that TomTom navigation US & Canade and TomTom navigation Europe was installed on mij phone. I know I can only instal it on 5 devices so how can I "remove" the app from my damaged phone.
    Thanx

  • HT201322 Completely remove app from iphone

Hi, Can someone please tell me how i completely remove an app from my iphone 4s?
The apps are in the Purchased History of the app store and i want to remove them from there, few people have said you cannot do this but you can hide them.
Can anyone at least tell me how to hide them? I have deleted them because i dont want them so i am not bothered about losing them completely, and clicking the cross on the app only removes it from the home screen, also i have tried going into itunes to view my purchased apps on there but this list people keep mentioning that appears on the left hand side when you click apps does not appear on mine, i have tried checking the settings and still cannot find a way to see these apps and delete them from itunes. Please can someone help me resolve this. Thanks

You can't currently permanently delete any items from your purchase history, but you can hide them so that they are less visible (they won't show in the Purchased tab unless you unhide them) - if you folllow the instructions for hiding them via your computer's iTunes as described on the page that you posted from then they should get hidden (you can't currently hide them directly on an iOS 6 device) i.e.
on your computer's iTunes select the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page. That should show you a screen where you can select Apps at the top of it to display a list of your purchased/downloaded apps (those that are still in the store and not hidden) - if you hover your mouse pointer over an app that you want to hide then it should get an 'x' appear on it, click that to hide it

  • How to remove App from iPhone, but not iPad

I have an App that I would like to keep in my iTunes library, but only Sync to my iPad -- not my iPhone.  Right now, the App has been 'deselected' from my iPhone, but the associated file size did not decrease.  My iPhone still has 1GB more than I would like.  How can I remove the App and it's file from my iPhone, but preserve it on my iPad?  Thanks!

    Deselect it and sync.
Is it still on your iphone?
Apps are generally not that large.  I doubt you would notice much difference in memory used.
Look on the iphone to see if the app is there.

  • Unable to remove apps from iphone

I have synced my iphone with itunes apps library and have removed hundred of apps, however my phone is still saying that I have over 1000 apps on my iphone but i only count 100 app icons on my phone. I synced with itunes app library, what am i missin

The only way to get your iTunes content on your new phone is to either sync it from your iTunes library or re-download it directly on your phone.

Push and hold an Icon until it wiggles, press the X in the top left corner. Press the home button to return screen to normal

  • How do i delete apps from iphone?

Tried some apps, didn't like them, now can't get rid of them.  What do i do?

Besides being included with the iPhone user guide with Apple including a Safari bookmark for the user guide with Safari on the iPhone, a Google or internet search is your friend. This link was the 4th hit with a Google search for "removing apps from iPhone".

  • How to remove apps on iphone permenantly

    Team,
Please advise on how to remove apps from iphone 3GS permenantly. For example I have downloaded Skype from apps store and later since I did't like it I have unchecked it on my itunes and it doesn't show in my iphone. however in itunes / devices/iphone under apps it still shows. Is there  a way to remove it from there.
    Regards
    Prasad

Have the same problem, but i found that if you go to music-itunes-mobile apps in the finder, then you can delete them yourself. This way the get removed from all the program lists in iTunes.
    Hope it helps.

  • Author removes app from store, removed also from phone!

App disappeared from phone. Checked "purchased" list (all), it was not there. Searched app store, not there. Author's web site down.
The logical conclusion is the author removed the app from the store and, consequently, it was removed from my phone. I don't pay much attention to updates, just hit "go", so I am not sure when it happened.
Fortunately, I still had it in the library on my computer, so I was able to restore it by syncing.
My question is if this is really how it is supposed to work. That would be a BIG problem.
    Thanks

After it's removed from the store, the app will simply stop updating. You'll be left with the currently installed version. I know this to be true, because I still have the VLC app on my iPhone, even though it was removed from the store.
It's entirely possible that Apple has the ability to remotely remove apps from iPhones. I wouldn't be shocked to hear that such a capability exists. I would be shocked if it was actually used, however.
Even if you remove the app from your iPhone by mistake, the synced/backed up copy should still remain in iTunes (assuming you synced your iPhone at some point prior to removing the app):

How can I remove apps from my iPhone 5 home page?

Tap and hold an app until they all start to wiggle, then tap the black "x" on the apps you want to delete from your phone, or drag them to the edge of the screen if you want to move them to another screen rather than deleting them.  Finish by tapping the home button.

How can I permanently remove apps from my iphone, ipad, ipod operating in the iCloud?

Apps don't operate in the cloud - they're either downloaded to your device, or they're in your Purchased list. You can't permanently remove the history of apps you've purchased, but you can hide them. See this link:

Sorry, not sure what you mean by remotely?
You can remove apps from your phone without being connected to anything if you have the phone in hand. Were you speaking about something else?
If not, then you just press on an app on the Home screen and hold it down until they all begin to wiggle. Apps that you can remove (non-Apple apps) have a little "x" in the top left-hand corner. Tap on that, and the app will be removed.
