Removing audio tracks

anyone know how to remove audio tracks when converting to apple tv format in visualhub (or ffmpeg)? i have two tracks in the input file, and would like to remove the first one.

Try Handbrake instead - let's you select audio tarcks for conversion, and likely to be more up to date than VisualHub.

  • Is there an easy way to remove audio track from .mp4

    Guys
Wondered if anybody knows of a way to take a .mp4 file with a silent audio track exported and remove that audio track altogether without having to reconvert the video in AME- just deleting the (silent) audio track
Have lots of files that need this and was looking for a way to do this without going back and reexporting  all the clips the hard way
Any thoughts much appreciated-- (I have access to both Windows 7 and WIndows XP pro 64 bit)
    Thanks

    Thanks Jim
I figured that would work but for some reason the resulting files did not play correctly--Alternatively I used Mpegstreamclip -opened the video I wanted to erase audio track from--- clicked on "edit--delete audio track" then clicked "save as" and this finally accomplished what I was trying to do--Now have a copy of the .mp4 file wo audio
Thanks for all your help--Hope this thread helps someone in the future

  • Removing audio tracks from a clip

    Hi,
I have a set of HD clips that were digitized with 8 tracks of audio. I only need the first two. Is there a way to eliminate these extra tracks BEFORE dropping them on the timeline. It's a great annoyance to have to either lock off audio layers to prevent these from going on my timeline, or having to link and unlink layers and remove them.. There has got to be a better way!!
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!

Locate your clip in the Finder, on the Media drive. Duplicate your clip first...to make sure you don't mess anything up irreversibly.
Open it in Quicktime. Go to the WINDOW menu and then SHOW MOVIE PROPERTIES. Notice how you have a Video track, and then 8 audio tracks, and the timecode track. Delete the audio tracks you don't want by highlighting them and pressing DELETE.
Save the file. Import that into FCP to make sure it is done right.

  • Removing audio tracks from videos

I have some videos with 2 audio tracks on them (stereo and surround).
Is there any way to remove one of those tracks without converting the video?

It can be done with QuickTime Pro
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/D3380Z/A>
"Show Movie Properties" in "Window" menu, detete the unwanted track, then "Save" in "File" menu.
You may need to install Perian

  • Chapter markers lost after removing audio track

I have a QT movie (of old home novies with no REAL audio) prepared for the AppleTV that was working fine with chapters. When I removed the audio track and saved the file there are no longer any chapters. When I view the 'properties' of the file I see 'something' above the video track that has the name of the file bit can not be enabled. Is there a way for me to get back the chapters or did I mess up? Thanks.

    Sorry,
I was looking at the wrong line in the script. I am checking SPRM 7 for the Current segment of the title (Chapter Marker).
Also I got lost in the nomenclature in your second paragraph. It looks really helpful but I didn't understand what you meant ("Non-sequential PGCs..."). How should I get the dvd to move from track 1 to track 2 and back if I don't set the Next Jump (aside from scripting it)?
Also, where could I find the DVD Spec rules you've alluded to?
    Thanks
Here is the script thats being run:
    01: mov GPRM 6, SPRM 7
    02: mov GRPM 7, SPRM 4
    03: sub GPRM 7, 1
    04: mul GRPM 7, 128
    05: add GRPM 7, 49280
    06: add GPRM 7, GPRM 6
    07: mov GPRM 6, SPRM 8
    08: Goto 13 if (GPRM 6 = 2048)
    09: sub GPRM 7, 1
    10: sub GPRM 7, 1 if (GPRM 7 = 49285)
    11: sub GPRM 7, 1 if (GPRM 7 = 49439)
    12: Jump Indirect GPRM 7
    13: mov GPRM 7, 49408 if (GPRM 7 = 49313)
    14: Jump Indirect GPRM 7
It calculates the valud of the current Chapter in terms of the current track, determines whether the user wanted to repeat the chapter or continue to the next chapter, tests a few special repeat/continue points (jumping back multiple chapters or continuing to the next track) and the jumps to the calculated location.
I realize that I could rewrite this and using a few prescripts and the other scripts in the project so that I don't have to calculate based of SPRM 7 but I'd rather not if it isn't necessary. It seems like the dvd player (stand alone) simply doesn't read the chapter markers. It always repeats to chapter 1 and continues to chapter 2 no matter what.

  • Removing audio tracks in b-roll footage

I have a bunch of B-roll video I'm using and I'm looking for a way to remove the audio. I know that I can do this in the timeline, but is there a way to do it in the browser; to turn them into video only clips?

You can make a new master clip without the audio, which involves the timeline, but might do you... If you place the b-roll on a timeline, remove the audio there, then drag the video from the timeline to the browser... ctrl-click on it and select 'make master clip' (or something like that... i'm sitting thru a render right now).

  • Need to remove video clip and save audio track.

We are trying to remove a segment of video clip and save the audio track that goes with it.    We intend to fill that open segment with transitions of still photos, all the while allowing the narrator, who has now been "clipped" to keep speaking.
We are using CS3 Premier Pro.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!   Thanks for your wisdom...

    Mary,
I find that just Alt-clicking on the Video and hitting Delete to be the quickest method. That does exactly the same as Unlinking, with two keystrokes - Atl-click Video, Del key.
    Hope that helps,

  • Audio track removal

Help! I've added an audio track to a movie and I want to remove it, but can't figure out how. The movie is straight from my camcorder with audio from the built in mic and is pretty much done. However, I dropped an iTunes song onto it to see if I could add some music to the intro frames and now the song i added plays through the recorded portion and that is not what I want. I really just want to remove the iTunes song altogether and I can't find it. I tried looking through the help menu and had no luck.
Can someone help me on this?

Left-click on the audio track to select it. You should see a yellow border around the audio track.
Then either Edit/Delete Selection or right-click/delete selection.

  • Removing Florescent Light Noise "Hum" from Audio Tracks using FCEHD

I have some clips taken under florescent lighting where the hum was discernable even during the sound check. (I was using external Electro Voice hypercardiod XLR mikes plugged into my Sony DCRVX2100, powered through a surge protector, monitoring the audio with Bose QC2 headphones). Using the same camera, cables, and mikes under incandescent lighting that day was fine - no hum.
Attempting to filter out the hum using the FCE Hum filter wasn't dramatically effective, even with repeated tests establishing that using a frequency of 60 hz, a Q of 40, a gain of -48, and the 1st and 3rd harmonics provided the most benefit.
Additionally I tried again with the FCE 31 band EQ filter, anticipating that the 50 hz and 60 hz filters would provide very specific improvements. Also tried were the LowPass Filter and the 3 band EQ.
I'd like to clean up the otherwise fine audio - any suggestions? I am considering buying a filtered power conditioner as I know that some of the problem can be "dirty" electricity resulting from the ballast of the florescent lighting.
Also, I noted that the numeric values shown for the gain using the FCE 31 band EQ filter oftentimes lagged behind the setting of the slider: returning the slider to the middle "0" position frequently didn't change the previous value of the gain shown. Is this another indication that I should just upgrade from my PowerBook G4 with 2 Gig of RAM?
    Thanks!
    James Mackay

    Hello Jim,
And welcome to the Final Cut Express forum.
You are correct that the ballast generates the hum. Power conditioning is probably not going to reduce or eliminate it, because the old ballasts are magnetic. The only way I found to eliminate fluorescent noise at the source is to replace the ballast with an electronic one or replace the entire fixture with a T8 unit (they use electronic ballasts).
Removing that hum probably can't be done in FCE. Sound Soap can probably do it however, with it's ability to +learn noise+ and then remove that specific audio. The regular Sound Soap works as a plugin for Final Cut, which enables you to apply it within FCE.
At present there is also an 'SE' version available at 50% off however it only works in standalone mode, which means you would have to export the audio track from FCE, clean it and then re-import back into FCE.

  • Remove video, and keep audio track.

Is it possible to delete video, yet keep the sound, in order to add voice over

Yes.  If you detach the audio from a clip you can move the resulting (purple) audio track somewhere else in the timeline and then delete the clip it originated from.  (You have to make sure the detached audio is not still attached to the original clip else it will be deleted too).

  • Video with Multiple Audio Tracks-- IOS 4.2 Removes Way to Select Them

After upgrading to IOS 4.2 on my iPhone 4, I've found it no longer lets me select from among multiple audio tracks. The option and button is completely gone.
I encode my videos with AC3 audio as the first track (for my home media devices), and stereo audio as the second track (for the iPhone). Now the iPhone will just play the video, with no audio, and no way to select another track. This is extremely frustrating as I've encoded all my DVDs this way, and never had any issue with playback like this on any IOS device going back to the first gen iPod Touch.
Anyone else have this issue, and know of a work around? Thanks!

I too have the exact same problem for the exact same reason. Did you ever figure out a workaround (other than reencoding all your videos)?

  • Removing Dead Audio Tracks in Multiclip

    Question for FCP7.
I'm working with a concert sequence that has a lot of problems. The footage wasn't shot properly so TC was a mess, but none the less, after a lot of work, one of our editors was able to craft a sequence with a number of multiclips representing two, sometimes three cameras.
The trouble is, is looks like the sound was recorded onto different tracks for each camera. So a Stereo Mix on 1&2, the Lav on 3 but the boom on 5 for one camera, and the Stereo Mix on 1&2, Lav on 4 and the boom on 5 for the other. Sounds strange I know. So I've got 5 tracks of audio, with one dead track for each camera, but that dead source is on a different track for each camera in Final Cut.
When I try to strip it out for one camera in a multiclip, it also cuts the same track, which is a good source, for the other camera when I switch back.
This is hard to describe I know. Can you have an uneven amount of audio tracks in a multiclip? Can you cut one track from one source, and have it leave the tracks from the other intact?
    Thanks a bunch.

It is possible (and pretty easy) to assign one audio track for the multiclip. I've found that if you want to use more than one track, it's easiest to mix in the other tracks after the cutting is completed.
The FCP6 User Manual (the last with an index...) says this:
To switch only the video of the active multiclip angle in the Viewer:
1 Double-click a multiclip in the Browser or Timeline to open it in the Viewer.
2 Choose View > Multiclip Active Tracks > Video.
You can also choose this option from the Playhead Sync pop-up menu in the Viewer.
3 Click an angle to make it active.
A blue outline highlights the active video angle.
    which I find fairly unhelpful.
I learned a "bass ackward" way of easily setting the audio track that works great once you understand it.
    1. Double-click a multiclip in the Browser or Timeline to open it in the Viewer.
    2. Select a angle that contains the audio track you want to use. There should be both green and blue borders on this clip when selected. (if not, choose Video + Audio from the Playhead Sync (center) drop-down button.)
    3. Using the Playhead Sync drop-down button (the center button above the angle array in Viewer), select Video and then cliuck on any other angle. At this point, there should be a green border on the angle you wish to use for audio and a blue border on the current video angle. From here on, as you cut the audio should stay on its angle while the video will be on whatever angle you have chosen.
I refer to this as "reverse Polish notation", (no flames please")  a term that was used to describe the arithmetic system used on the H-P technical calculators.  In essence, you set the video to indicate where you don't want the audio to be...
    hope this helps

  • How to remove a specific audio track?

    Hello,
My wife and I were recently driving around in a convertible.
She recorded video of our drive on her iPhone.
When the iPhone was in the car (ie: behind the windshield), you can hear the music and the sound of the car perfectly.
However, occasionally she would put the iPhone up above the windshield for an unobstructed view, but the wind whipping by the iPhone's mic is blisteringly loud and annoying.
Is there any way to delete JUST the wind noise from the audio track (either in iMovie, or Garage Band, or any other program anybody knows of)?
I know that software exists that will break down an audio track into it's individual components, I just don't know which ones are the best.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Justin

    Hi
Is there any way to delete JUST the wind noise from the audio track (either in iMovie, or Garage Band, or any other program anybody knows of)?
No - some minimal enhancements can be done but way to little to be of any use.
    • Equalizer in Garageband
    • SoundSoap™
But still that will not make any noticeable difference. Sorry
I know that software exists that will break down an audio track into it's individual components, I just don't know which ones are the best.
Then You know more than me.
I know the theory of "Field-Vector-Analysis" but never seen any program that apply it and if they are in real world then
    • Costs will be astronomical
    • Need of computing power - wild guess x-thousand Macs connected as a Beowulf-cluster
    • Competence to use it - talking about steep learning curve
Hear-say talks about an application "Virtual Microphone" - but I can't find it to test anywhere.
So - do as the Pros - dubbing - silence original and make/use a fake audio file instead.
    Yours Bengt W

  • Audio tracks silent

My project's audio tracks have become silent except the comments track. How to restore?
    Thanks in advance.
    (Première Elements 12)

    bermard
No clues on this Premiere Elements 12 happening that has been reported by several users.
I have tried to reproduce the problem to troubleshoot it and cannot reproduce it so that I can troubleshoot it.
The ID Liamadude99 had the problem and believes she resolved it. She posted the following March 2, 2014
"I was trying different things and I went to tools to narration. I removed the mute audio before recording, then deleted
the narration I previously did and then pressed undo, to bring it back and my audio returned on my video. Very strange
    but it worked....."
Please give that a try and then let us know if that worked for you. That would be a major contribution.
Also a screenshot of your Timeline when the problem exists would be helpful to me to try to reproduce the problem.
    Thanks.

  • Logic Pro X keeps sending C0 notes to midi out when record is armed on a audio track

I have a annoying problem with Logic Pro X, which I bought a month ago. Here's al little scenario that describes the problem.
I disconnect my audio interface, so that Logic Pro has to rely on my MacBook Pro's internal audio. This way I exclude my RME-FF800 from being of any influence.
I start up the Midi Monitor tool, to analyse what comes out of Logic; MIDI-wise.
I start up Logic set up a small test project in Logic Pro X, that contains:1 audio track
There's little button on the audio track with a red-colored "R". This is the button to "arm" this track for recording audio.
I push the little "R" button, the R-character turns white, the button as a whole turns red. The button starts blinking.
From this moment on Logic starts sending MIDI messages ....... huh?  Every second or so ... a low C.
In my regular studio setup this means that I hear a low repeated note coming out of my piano, every time I record audio.  How annoying!!
By the way ... a Guitar/Bass track has the same problem. All the other track types (External midi, software instrument, drummer) don't have this problem.
Help is deeply appreciated, because it drives me crazy and if I can't fix this .... I think I have to return to my previous DAW-of-choice (Cubase 7.5).

The note is likely being sent out because of a Control Surface you have installed or used.... be it a hardware keyboard, controller or even an ipad controller app... such as Logic Remote or TouchOSC for example... or even an iOS software synth app that is sending midi over wireless....
So.. first make sure you have force quit any iPad/iPhone Logic/midi related apps and not just closed them..
Then if that doesn't fix things.. delete Logic's CS preferences... and Logic's own user preferences too...as described here..
    Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
Do not forget to Quit Logic before doing this and then restart the Mac after doing this....
