Removing BBM

I have suddenly started receiving >100/day spam contact requests on BBM.  As there appears no way to stop these (PIN message blocking doesn't work), and I don't use BBM anyway, I would like to disable/delete it.
Following the instructions in KB10040, when I menu-click on a BB-originated app, there is no Delete option.  On 3rd-party apps, the delete option is there.  Bottom line, I am thus unable to delete the BBM app.  Same goes for the modules - 3rd-party ones have a delete option, BB modules don't.  Running SW version 6.0.
Any help appreciated!

modules are part of the OS, you cannot inactivate them or delete them.

why did you remove bbm from the app store?
when will you be releasing bbm again in the app store and using which region?

Type "bbm removed from AppStore" into Google and read one of the many results, such as:

  • Blackberry messenger 7

downloaded the latest version bbm 7, now i no longer have the icon on my bb 9900....can no longer get to bbm.  My friend has been trying to bbm me, I do not receive messages......in my apps it shows that it is installed, but can no longer access bbm after the download...what the heck is going on???

Same issue with BBM 7, installed and lost lost my BBM Icon.
I uninstalled BBM using Desktop Manager on my computer and then re-installed BBM. This removed BBM 7 and re-installed BBM 6 which also restored my BBM Icon.
Definitely something wrong with BBM 7.
*** Luckily before un-installing I backed up all my data and after re-installing I noticed some of my recent BBM messages were missing which I recovered by restoring my back up.

I am on a plan where I get 6 months of internet for £20 but my 6 months ran done so I got several warning messages telling me to to up £5 to get a month of internet and send a code to a number  so I toped up and sent the code. I then got a message telling me that my service were to kick in instantly so the first thing I did was go on facebook to verify this. Later on I went on blackberry messenger but my messages wont send and I can't receive any I only get the red cross beside it and my friends see the same when they Try to reach me. I don't know what the problem is at first I thought that I hadn't sent the correct code but even when I connect to my wi-fi I can't use blackberry messenger. Hi Thembalethu and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
Try going into Options>Device>Application Management to remove BBM from your Device. Reboot, via battery pull, then try reinstalling BBM by going to www.blackberry.com/bbm from your BlackBerry Browser.
Let me know if that helps.
    Thanks.

  • Help! BB Messenger constantly saying I have message!

Hi, I'm not onto my second BB8520 and this on T-mobile UK contract. Everything is fab, however, BB Messenger constantly displays 1 new message icon...There definitely isn't. Tried hard reset 4 times with no luck. Been like this for 4 days and it really irritating plus with the red notification light flashing all the time it can't be doing my battery much good either!
Is anyone else having the same problem? And how can I solve this? I really don't want to have to either wipe my phone or remove BBM!
Thanks in advance for any help

Do you have Desktop Manager installed on your computer?
Use that to make a full backup of the device.
Then in the Backup/Restore menu use the Advanced feature to clear the database for BlackBerry Messenger.  That should remove all your contacts.
Then restore just the BlackBerry Messenger database using the backup you made in the same Advanced menu.
If this doesn't work, and as long as you made the full backup, just wipe the device fully and restore the full backup. It only takes 10-15 minutes tops.
No, you won't have to reinvite all your contacts.

  • I have been removed from my own BBM Group!!

I have been removed from my own BBM Group, And I can't join it again
So tell me what to do plz

    Thank you-I will contact support.
No, I cannot wait 90 days.
Let me restate what I have to endure, even though I own the music and have paid for iTunes Match:
I cannot access my purchases-zero-at all
I have to listen to never ending McDonald's latte commercials and progressive insurance. I have now banned both of those annoying businesses and will not make purchases there.
In summary, I have given apple my minded, and have zero to show for it.
Ps-you get to hear the McDonald's "love hate commercial" every 2 songs on iTunes Radio.  I have substituted the words where I hate McDonald's and love when the commercial is over.

  • Torch update removed all bbm contacts..

    Hey there!
So today i got a notification saying i needed to update my OS or something,so i did..
Halfway through my phone crashed out, then got stuck on the loading screen(One that happens after a battery pull)
When it eventually turned on and sorted itself out,I went onto BBM to find i had no contacts at all..
I had backed the phone up before the update had happened(through the phone) but when i looked to restore contacts through a file save/back up file..it said there was none
Is there anyway i can get my contacts back?
    Thanks in advance,

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
If, before this happened, you were on BBM7, then your BBM contacts were technically stored on the BB servers, not on the device...when you log into the device using the exact same BBID credentials, your BBM contacts are shown on your device.
But, if you were not up to BBM7 when this happened, then BBM contact backup/restore was a much trickier proposition, and were NOT included as part of any "standard" backup processes. You can find instructions about that via the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post. Suffice to say that restore now depends on a source of that data having been created BEFORE this happened...if you have no backup source from which to now restore, then there is no restore possible.
    Good luck!

     Hi,
One of my ex-colleagues has installed a NI-DAQ 6.5 in our system. [And I do not see any other naitional instruments card in the CPU of the computer, may be he removed it] I deleted the account and all his files in the system. When I am trying to install version8.0, its not getting installed and giving me a message that I should uninstall the previous version by going to Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
I tried doing that, but the "Change/Remove" button does not seem to work...[There is no response and so unable to install the new version...]
Any idea how can this problem be solved?
It is a windowsXP operating system with SP2 installed on a machine with P4 processor.
    Thanks

  • Email service blocked and BBM not working on BB torch slide

    HI.
I have real issues with my phone. First, my BBM stopped working, so I thought it was the bbm rim server because all other applications were working(whatsapp, email, facebook etch). Then I stopped receiving emails. Again, I didn't take it too seriously until I tried to send emails and a red cross appears with a message saying "service Blocked".
At this point, it is strange cause my browser works and my facebook. What really got me pissed was that my whatsapp stopped working as well, and I'm no longer on my mobile service plan, I'm using wifi at home. I was two seconds away from resetting my phone when it occured to me that it might not solve the problem.
I have looked at other possible solotions online and my phone does not have the advance system settings or the enterprise activation menu. I don't know what to do, HELP!!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Some clarification is needed...I cannot tell exactly if your device is a BES-enabled one or not...if it is, then stop now and seek support from your BES admins as they control, well, everything.
If you are not BES, then with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books (pre-BB10 devices only)
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. IF this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Then again...

and I'm no longer on my mobile service plan, I'm using wifi at home.
If, by that, you mean that you have allowed your mobile service plan to expire, then that could explain everything. There are many services on BBs that are proprietary, and access to them requires subscription to an adequate data plan from your provider, regardless of the channel you use them through. Even if you only use WiFi as your connection pathway, you still must have an adequate data plan from your carrier in order to do many things, including email and BBM.
So if that's the case, then it explains everything...sometimes, when a data plan is allowed to expire, it takes the carrier a few days (sometimes longer) to "catch up" and shut things down that you are not paying them for.
    Good luck!

  • BBM, Email and 3G isnt working!!!!

I bought my blakcberry torch a couple of days ago, since then i have signed up for a blackberry ID and registered with my Wifi, this has all worked fine. However, for some reason whenever i go on setup and then email accounts it always says "your device is having problems connecting to the server" whats this all about? Also, whenever i go on BBM and try to invite a friend it says "waitng for authorisation" i'm on contract with BSI included. Additionally i know my friend has not declined my invite cause he said my invite hasnt come through (only been 3 days). Help is needed on this too! And finally, if i go anywhere without wifi i can't access the internet because it says "my service plan doesn't approve internet" literally wtf, blackberry's a far too complicated!?! HELP IS NEED ASAP PLEASE!!!!

In the first instance try these two steps, both should result in a message appearing in your inbox saying the handset is registered on the network:
    - remove the battery, wait 30 seconds and reinsert.
    - go to Options - Advanced - Host Routing Table, press the menu key and select Register Now
If you are still have issues After this you need to give Tesco's Mobile a call - it could be that BIS has not been fully activated on your phone.
