Removing Buzz

Hey everyone,
just had a quick question that I haven't been able to figure out. I recorded a musical and took the feed from the soundboard directly into my camera mic input, however when it went through the camera it created this faint buzzing sound. I've included a link to a sample of the audio from a silent part. any ideas on how to get rid of it without effecting the other sounds?
Thanks in advance!

  • How do i remove buzz and hiss from audio track?

    I'm using Premiere Elements 13, Windows 8, 64 bit
My original film has some hiss and buzz that I would like to remove. I tried applying DeNoiser and New Blue Hum Remover, but neither seemed to make a difference. Perhaps I need to tweek the tools to make them suppress more of the unwanted sound? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Just some quick things to check out for now.
If the Premiere Elements audio effects are not working for you, please check out the noise removal offered by the free audio editor named Audacity. Have you used that before?

Here are Audacity suggested how to. Think noise reduction rather than noise removal.

When i plugged my ipod into the computer it started to make buzzing and screeching noises. It became hot so i removed it and then the screen froze while it continued to make these noises. I have never had anything like this happen. (never gotten it wet or had it exposed to extreme temperatures) It is also unresponsive to any buttons on the ipod and it didn't show up when i plugged it into my computer. What do I do? Also if it is unfixable could i get a free one from apple?

  • Large buzzing on my DV tape-how can I remove it?

Unfortunately we had a problem when filming, and a quite large buzzing noise is heard in the background, and the voices (an interview is going on) are quiet. Are there ANY applications, or otherwise options in FCP or similar applications to reduce or get rid of this noise?
    I'm desperate!
    Thanks

you can do this relatively easily using a noise reduction/ removal tool, in an audio application, e.g. http://www.bias-inc.com/products/soundsoap/
All my audio editing stuff is done on pc (boo hiss), so I'm more familiar with Sonic foundry's noise reduction, but the concept is the same. the app "learns" which parts of the sound are noise, and then filters it out, using a variety of methods.
the best results will be obtained if you have some audio that contains only the noise you want to remove. Point the tool at that section first, it learns which parts are noise. then apply that setting to the entire audio file...
if you can't get this app, and are really desparate, and the audio isn't too long (e.g. a matter of minutes, not hours) then I could even have a look for you....

  • Buzzing and skipping when removing or inserting headphone jack

While listening to audio through iTunes, switching between the internal speakers or headphones via removing or inserting a headphone jack, often results in a loud buzzing noise. Pausing iTunes eliminates the sound, but it sometimes comes back when I press play once again. It also sometimes results in the audio skipping, and the entire computer freezing, while the sudio skips. What the **** is going on here? Do I need a new sound card?

    Try resetting PRAM and SMC.

  • Removing or limiting GSM Buzz

Before I knew it was a problem, I recorded a child's performance too close to my iPhone (1G). The video recording now has the dreaded GSM buzz mangling the audio.
Is there a reliable method to remove the buzz from a video recording? I have FCE 4, but I have not seen a reference online or elsewhere that describes a tool or process.
    Thanks.

The process will be like killing the patient to cure the ailment.

  • How to remove a buzz?

Sorry to ask this here if it's not appropriate.
I use Logic. I have a vocal audio track that's got a mild
buzz in it, probably from a bad mic grounding situation
that I was not on top of when the track was recorded.
Any recommendations of plugins/techniques to deal with
    such a thing?
    thanks

    Hi
Have you tried to use the noise analysis and reduction feature of Audacity?
Check it out. It can do a great job w/some experimentation.

  • Removing sound buzz FCE

I videotaped a presentation - the speaker was using PP projector close to him (close to his lapel mike) - sound volume on my camera was quite low. Now I have buzz from the projector equally loud to his voice. Is there away I can remove the projector buzz?

You probably should post that question in the Final Cut Express HD forum.

  • Removing a Buzz

The bad news is that I have a buzz in my audio, the good news is that I have a constant buzz in my audio. The level is steady, and the tone doesn't change.
What is my best option to get ride of this annoyance?
I only have FCP HD to my disposal.
    Thanks.

Okay, while I wait for a render to finish I thought I'd tell you how I fixed the issue to help anyone else who runs into the same problem.
Step 1 was to find where in the spectrum the buzz was. I used the graphical EQ plug-in and adjusted each spectrum until the buzz went away. In my case it was 10,000-12,000 range.
Step 2: I dumped the graphical EQ plug in and added the Parametic EQ. I punched in the 10,000 for the freq, turned the gain all the way down and then adjusted it slightly until it .leaned it up as best it could (it may not be gone totally). Play with all settings until it sounds good.
Step 3: Since FCP doesn't stack plug-ins too well, I nested that audio into a new sequence. I then added the plug-in again to the clip and cleaned it up even more. Tweak the settings until it sounds good. I could give you numbers, but I wasn't even paying attention to them, I just listened. The buzz was still there, but not enough to be noticable anymore unless you were wearing headphones and really listening.
If the buzz is still there, keep repeating the nesting and applying of the filter until it's gone.
Step 4: Since I killed a lot of the 10,000-12,000 range, this also killed the high end of the vocals. I once again applied the same plug-in, however instead of gaining down the sound, I gained it up. The base audio is now clean and gaining that up should yeild good results.
All of this did require some rendering, but it was only 5 minutes render time per pass of 60+ min of raw, stereo footage.
    Best of luck.

  • Need to remove a guitar buzzing sound

I have an old Strat that is a bit noisy. Just picked up a Mogami chord and it helped reduce the buzz a lot, but there is still some there. I was wondering if there was a noch filter in the EQ to lower just that frequency. Also, does anyone know what that frequency might be? I don't think it is a 60 Hz hum, but a higher sounding buzz.
    Thanks

You might try turning off the lights in the room and checking for other electrical interference.  I put Christmas lights in the studio and turn off the main lights and that got rid of any buzz I had.

  • HP laserJet 5200dtn making buzzing/humming noise after printing

    Hi,
We have about three of these units in our office and one of them has recently began to make a loud buzzing/humming noise during and after printing a document. THe noise last about 5-10 seconds after the print job completes.  I can also make the printer buzz by removing the duplexer and puting it back in. The printer seems to load and then the buzz noise happens, again for about 5 seconds. I am aware of normal noise from these printers and this buzz is not normal.
This noise gets louder as the day goes on. Could this be a fan motor going bad?  We need to do somthing to get it quieter.
    Any help or suggestions?
    Thanks

  • White screen  buzzing noise and no question mark folder just white screen

So i noticed my macbook pro was slowing down and a ran disk warrior and disk utilities - repaired permissions , repaired drive then i noticed it was freezing up after 5 minutes of running.
so i removed all files i wanted to keep to an external drive and backed up with time machine.
I wanted to re install mac os X from the supplied DVD and it was going fine til about 2/3rds the way and it froze
now i turn the computer on and i get buzzing sound and white screen NOT even a question mark flashing folder.
    I have tried :
    PRAM reset = nothing
    eject disk on start= nothing
im under a year in purchase
but im wondering if there is anything i can do before i take it in on monday??
it is a Macbook pro (13 inch mid 2009) intel duo 2 core

    circle23,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It sounds like the HD failed. Try inserting the OS X install Disc in the DVD drive this time re-starting holding down the Option Key. When it starts choose the OS X install Disc and allow it to get to the point where it asks what language. Then choose the Utilities menu and click the internal drive then check the S.M.A.R.T status of the drive, it should say Verified if it's OK. If it doesn't try repairing the disk several times and see if the S.M.A.R.T status changes. If it doesn't make an appointment here and take it in.

  • PowerBook G4 has loud buzzing, then freezes, now won't start

I have a PowerBook G4 which started to make low "grinding" noises when it worked hard. It had done this for maybe a couple of months: sometimes the position (on lap or on table, etc) seemed to affect it. I always figured it was the fan(s). But a little while ago it suddenly started making a loud buzzing noise, like a fuzz-tone electric guitar or maybe an electric razor. If I put it to sleep the noise would start, and it would not start immediately upon re-awakening. I'm not really sure where the noise was coming from. Otherwise the computer was still functioning normally, so I figured a fan was going bad. Then it just froze, and I had to turn it off. Upon powering on, it got to the point with a gray screen, an Apple logo, and a bar that spins in a circle. Never more than that. I've booted the install disk and run Disk Utility: it found some big discrepancy, in a file allocation I think, but fixed it. Since then I've repaired and verified: disk appears OK. I've run the hardware tests and everything tests OK. I can also get the terminal by booting from CD 1, and can do directory listings of the disk contents. So the disk seems to be OK. I removed the suspect fan: the left one, and looked at it. Aside from some dust in the filter it looked and spun fine, as far as I could tell.
Upon booting in "verbose" mode, I get the following:
    member [46]: dsFindDirNodes returned - 14071, count = 2147483646
member [46]: Couldn't find root user. Sleeping and trying again.
    These two lines just repeat...
    I've got two questions here:
    1) What should I do to get the computer operational again? Is there a netinfo restore I can do, or should I reinstall the OS (10.4) from the install disks?
    2) How can I find out what caused the original problem?
    Thanks,
    Frank Huddleston

An update: I have reinstalled the OS, and all my user files were still there in Previous Systems, so I lost no data. The noise has recurred a few times, and I listened for its location: it really did sound as though it was coming from the upper left. No system freeze, though: the noise stopped on its own after the period of intense cpu activity finished. I have checked the disk with the Disk Utility, and it verifies (I did not do this in single-user mode, however). So far, so good: it looks as though my left rear fan is going bad.
Could that somehow cause the system lockup? If maybe the system temperature reached a high point?
I have installed the iStat widget and have looked at that when I hear the low "grinding" sound, and it shows the left rear fan running at about 1740 rpm. But the right fan is at 0. Is this normal?
The Apple Hardware reported no errors: I guess that means both fans are at least operational enough for the test. But what will make the system use the right fan as opposed to the left? Is maybe the right fan not coming on, then the left fan has to work too hard, and so now is failing? I have no idea what a "normal" rpm is for those fans.
Also, at this point maybe this topic is more suitable for another forum. If so, please advise.
Thanks for any help you(all) can give me.
    Frank H.

  • Removal of Power cord leads to immediate shutdown despite fully charged bat

    Yes,
My 2 week old Reconditioned MacBook Pro 15" 2.33/2gbRAM has started to shut down immediately when i take the power cord out.
I tried the SMC reset procedure 3 times (namely:
    1) Turn computer off
    2) Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
    3) Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
    4) Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
    5) Press the Power button to restart the computer.)
    No joy, still same problem.
    What should I do next?
Any help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

I have been having several issues with my MBP (purchased 6-17-06) regarding sleep/shutdown/battery as have many others.
I called Apple Thursday (4-12) and gave tech support all of the following symptoms:
Does not go to sleep when lid is closed.
Sudden shutdown at various levels of available battery power.
Occasional, abnormal trackpad click (loud, hard?).
"Blinks" when woken from sleep to a blank, light blue screen.
Quiet buzz that stops when clicking or dragging the trackpad.
(Note: I do not have the bulging battery as some have mentioned.)
The tech support guy was going to have me zap the P-RAM, but I had already done that, with no effect. So next he had me insert the OSX install disk to repair the HD. There were no problems, so he issued a repair ticket, gave me a dispatch number, and sent out a box. It was on my step Friday and it will go out tomorrow (Mon. 4-16). I was probably on the phone a total of 20 or 30 minutes.
I expect it to be a logic board replacement, but I will update here when I get it back. My MBP will probably be back by Wed. afternoon if this is anything like my other experiences with Apple Care - very fast turnaround.
BTW - He was going to charge me $50 for the tech support, but I said it was a hardware issue, not software and it should not be my expense. He said he would "make a one-time exception" and not charge me this time, but I should really consider extending to the 3-yr Apple Care. I will consider it, but I know it's not right for Apple to try to charge anyone for this problem.
Sorry for going on for so long, but I want to make it clear if anyone is having these problems they should call Apple ASAP. Especially if you are still under warranty. They will/should fix it at their cost.

  • Buzz when using 1/4 inch cables?

    Hi there,
This isn't a question about Logic per se but I figure this would be the best place to get an answer.
So I've found using many different setups that I consistently get a low-level buzzing when monitoring or recording from a 1/4 inch cable.
I've used an M-Audio MobiePre as well as an Apogee Duet with the same issue (although the Duet did do much better at minimizing it). It doesn't come up when recording from microphone XLR's. It happens recording both my several keyboards and electric guitar.
My assumption was that it's a grounding issue. I bought a grounded outlet protector to no avail, tried a few different patch cables, plugged in my mac and keyboard to the same or different outlets in different homes. Tried with the mac running off battery, wi-fi and bluetooth disabled, all the electronics in the house off, cellphone gone, nothing seems to do it. Only once have I managed to get rid of it, but I've never been able to duplicate.
Is this a macbook hardware issue? I'm not sure who I should be calling to troubleshoot this with, Apple, M-Audio, my keyboard or patch cable providers or manufacturers...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time,
    ADAM

If you are using the SAME 1/4" CABLE, please replace it with another one, and see if the hum goes away.
Otherwise, get a DI with Ground disconnect capability (most have this) and use that to plug into your Mac.
    Cheers
PS remove the ground protector... unless you want to blow up your gear!!!
