Removing crop/reg marks from PDF

I'm using Acrobat 8 Pro.
I need to place individual pages from a PDF (for which I do not have -- and cannot get -- the native files) in an InDesign document.
I need to remove the crop marks and registration marks from the PDF pages. (They weren't offset properly, so they extend into the bleed area.) I know how to do it manually, but there are a lot of pages and I'm looking for an easier way out.
I could have SWORN that I had once stumbled upon a setting/option to remove all marks that were outside the image area, but I didn't make a note of it and can't find any such option. (It might not work in this case anyway, since the marks do overlap the image, but I still want to know if the capability is there.)
At this point, I'm seriously thinking that maybe I dreamed it.
Does such an option exist? If not, is there some way to remove those extraneous marks from all pages in a PDF in one fell swoop?
TIA,
Marlene

If I crop the pages so that the crop marks and registration marks are gone, the pages will be too small. I need to retain the full image size, but get rid of the marks that are jutting into the image.
Maybe I'm not explaining this clearly ... the bleed size of the image area on each page is correct. But the crop marks, instead of being offset so they fall OUTSIDE the bleed edge, actually extend into the bleed area.
The marks should be offset a couple points more than the bleed size -- e.g., if there's a 9 pt bleed, the marks should be offset 12 pts or 15 pts.
But they aren't -- they were offset less than 9 pts, so they don't fall outside the bleed edges. They extend into the bleed area.

  • How can I paste diacritical marks from .pdf to iTunes (or anywhere)?

    hello everyone,
I have a question and I don't know exactly where to post this so I cam to macforums for some inspiration (I hope this is the right thread).
I have a .pdf with diacritical marks from roman transliteration of Sanskrit and I would like to paste a word exactly how it looks in the .pdf but when I paste it anywhere it looks like this
    Ma‰galäcaraŠa
when it should look like this
    Maṅgalācaraṇa
It took me about 2 minutes to type that word using the US extended keyboard layout function. But I have a lot of lyrics that I want to paste to iTunes songs and when I paste into iTunes it looks like this
    Ma‰galäcaraŠa
So, I lose the diacritic marks when pasting and it is indecipherable.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

    Hello Don,
It is nice to get your post. Actually, I am USA citizen but I have been to India 6 times. I have about 120 GB of original recordings of live kirtans, mainly from people who I have met and were kind enough to give me there recordings. So, most of the songs they sing come from a nice English version which uses diacritcs. So, I wanted to paste the lyrics onto my ipod so I can sing along anywhere and learn the songs that way.
The book is called Gaudiya Gita Guccha (2003). Here is a link to the book (it's the 6th one down).

There is a nice temple in Berkeley, just about 1/2 mile from the univ.
Hope this helps! And I think Tom answered correctly about .pdfs - I can't paste diacritics from .pdfs to another program.

  • How can I extract Trim, Art, Bleed and Crop Box information from PDF document

I want to know where in PDF are these information saved. I need my program to know these numbers without me manually rewriting them.

    Use the getPageBox method.
getPageBox can get the dimensions of the following:
    Art
    Bleed
    BBox
    Crop (default)
    Trim
There is an example in the JavaScript for Acrobat reference that gets the dimensions of the media box and displays it in the console window:
    var aRect = this.getPageBox("Media");
    var width = aRect[2] - aRect[0];
    var height = aRect[1] - aRect[3];
    console.println("Page 1 has a width of " + width + " and a height of " + height);

  • How to remove quotations marks  from csv file

    Hi
My input file is a .csv file which contains each value in quotation marks
    ex: - "123456778","jakob","grade10"
Also each record in the input file contains 333 values .
i am reading these records and using stringtokenizer to fetch value by value for that record .
i want to remove the quotation marks before i put the values back into an output file with .txt extension .
those output files will be bcped later into sybase db.
Should the quotation marks be removed in the java code or is their anyother way to remove the quotation marks from the output file while bcping them .
    Thank You

I also suggest if possible, you use tab delimited cvs files rather than comma delimited cvs files. That would be TSV, LOL...
If there are commas inside your data elements, you will not be able to tell if they are part of the data or are delimiters. Tab delimited files avoid this. What if your data contain tabs? Although there's no CSV specification, the common standard practice is to use two double quotes to escape a quote.

  • Removing unwanted chapter markers from m2v files

I inadvertantly left some unwanted chapter markers in FC sequences which I then exported as m2v files. Is there any way to remove the chapter markers from the m2v files so I don't have to re-render to m2v? I have lots of files!

The original files were edited in FCP, then edited in Motion to add graphic overlays. From there, they were rendered as m2v using Compressor.
The chapter markers are all visible in both FCP and Motion, but both of those options require re-rendering from the source file type back to m2v. This is a time consuming step that I'm hoping to avoid by, somehow, removing the chapter markers from the m2v file itself.
I just need to know if there is any way to remove a chapter marker from an m2v file.

  • Export to PDF and Spot Color Reg Marks

This sounds like a simple problem but I have not been able to find a way to do this.  When I create a document in ID with 2 spot colors and then export to a pdf and add registration marks (or crop marks) at this stage, the reg marks are created as the spot colors in the document AND Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black.  I am outputting to a RIP to generate printing plates.  This is a problem because I will get six plates (four with only reg marks) rather than just the two I need.  Is there a way to add the reg marks in the export stage so that they are created as only the colors that are present in the document?

Add a slug around your document (File>Document Setup>Show Options)
If your bleed is 3 mm and you want to add 5 mm crop marks, set the slug to be 8 mm all around
On the master page make a line at .25 pt and place this outside the bleed area and touching the slug line
Do this for all master pages.
Set the stroke colour to registration.
Export to PDF and choose to include bleed and slug.
    Don't turn on crop marks.

  • Can I remove crop marks with Adobe Acrobat Pro XI

Can I remove crop marks using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

Mylenium, I hate to ask, but in Acrobat XI, where do I find the Crop Pages feature?
In the right sidebar, under Tools > Pages, I see a Crop command. This seems to allow me to draw a box, but it does not seem very precise.
Under Print Production, I see a Set Pages Boxes command. I can't figure out how this works. I can choose Trim from a pop-up menu and guides show up where they should, but they just disappear when I click OK. (Also, the margin numnbers in that box get set to zero after doing tha; but, I digress.)
So, how can I just accurately trim the page to the trim area?
    Thank you!

  • How can I remove marks from the screen?

I inadvertently touched the screen with the tip of a black permanent marker, and now have 2 little black dots spoiling the view! Is there anything I can (safely) use to get rid of them?

    YES there is a solution!
I had this happen several years back to a new laptop. Someone borrowed my laptop at a business meeting to do a powerpoint presentation and had a permanent sharpie in their hand while they presented. In reaching over to press the "next" button during the presentation, they accidentally wrote on the screen. This put about a 1" blue mark across my screen. I totally freaked out!
Anyway, in researching a solution, I discovered that there is a chemical solution used to remove permanet marker from photographic negatives without damaging/discoloring the surface or coating. I had a recommendation to try this as it would not damage the laptop screen. It worked great!!! The permanent marker wiped off as if it were a whiteboard. In the years using this laptop, I never noticed the mark again and never noticed any sort of discoloration or damage to the surface or screen coating.
The chemical is used is a photographic emulsion cleaner called PEC-12. If you do a google search you'll find it all over the Internet. You may also be able to get it (or a reasonable substitute) at a local professional camera shop. You'll also see wipes for sale with these, which I also purchased. It's a lint free cloth that you spray the cleaner on and then wipe the film (or screen).
I hope this helps you out.

  • Changing the Color of Crop and Bleed Marks from Registration to Black

    Hello all,
I have been searching the web and have tried numerous things but I can't seem to solve this problem.  In InDesign crop marks and bleed marks are printed in "Registration" color.  I understand why that is needed for plate printing.  However I am laser printing and I need those marks to be in "Black" color.  I have tried to edit the cropmark script by changing "Registration" to "Black" on the line with myRegColor.  I have tried changing the printer setting to "Pure Black".  However I can't get the crop and bleed marks to print in "Black".   I have been on various websites and while there are people asking the question I haven't found a answer that works.  I have searched this community as well but haven't found an answer that I understand.  Before I manually make crop marks I want to make sure I am not missing something completely obvious.
With laser printing there is a different charge for color and B&W.  The fact that the crop marks are coming in as color and not black means B&W pages are counted as color in the printing cost.  I have tested the same docuement (which was just one page full of sample black text) with and without crop/bleed marks.  When the document is printed without the marks the printer clicks as a B&W page.  When it is printed with the marks the printer click as a color page.
I am creating the doc in InDesign and exporting to Acrobat for printing.  I am using Creative Cloud so I think I have the most up to date version of InDesign.
Any help would be much appreciated.  Thanks.
    -TS

With CS6 or later you can export to grayscale and in that case the crops will be black only. Like this:
You should set your Appearance of Black to Rich black otherwise 100% black CMYK might export to something less than 100% grayscale. When you check the PDF in Acrobat set the simulation profile to the grayscale profile you export to.

  • Printing a pdf from a marked-up pdf.

Acrobat Pro 9 no longer lets me print a pdf from a marked-up pdf.  Any suggestions?

Look everyone that comes here with a support problems has gone through all the normal channels, around and  round in circles with no one seeming to be interested. They've called every phone number, every email address they can find. They have been put on hold and bounced fifty times to another operator only to be hung up on. If Adobe would bring back support to main land and have people that know what's going on instead of having people that people can barely understand read from scripts. Scripted information only applies about 10 % of the time. I'm just giving people an alternative. after they have torn their hair out going the normal route.  If they had been able to get a solution they wouldn't be coming here for help.
There should be a forum set up just for people to air these issues and Adobe employees forced to man it. Then we wouldn't have to have such a Bad attitude. Right now Adobe's Support reputation is worse than Intuit's which did have the absolutely worse on the Planet. Now they are number 2.
You know it yourself that Adobe's support is absolutely worse than terible. However to prevent me from being banned from the forums I will simply will provide the adobecare email address from now on
So let's sweep it under the rug.
