Removing CS2

If I want to remove CS2 from my HD are there any other files to look for than these:
Applications/Photoshop CS2
User/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge
User/Library/Preferences/Any CS2, ACR3 and Bridge
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2
Thanks!

  • Best Way to Remove CS2 from Leopard?

    Brief History
I run a MBP with 10.5.6.  I just purchased CS4 so CS2 has to go. I've read about the incompatibility between 10.5 and CS2 but have never had any trouble until I tried to remove CS2.  I followed the removal instructions on the CD but ran into all kinds of permissions damage and most of my remaining programs crashed on launch.  I've restored my drive to the point where CS2 is intact but deactivated. All other applications are running fine.
    Question
Since the "Removal" programs resulted in a corrupted system and required a complete drive restore, how should I remove the most of CS2 short of dumping all the application folders into the Trash and leaving all sorts of remnants in my OS?  I'd prefer to remove all as "clean" as possible.
    TIA

    to remove CS2
    put in trash
    Delete.
Only Acrobat needs to use the uninstaller.

  • Can't remove CS2

I get an error message when I try to remove it. It says something about Windows XP Service Pack 3
Help! I need to get my photoshop back!

This whole thing is totally confusing. As I understood the instructions, adobe wanted me to remove the current edition of CS2 from my computer and then download it from one of their sites.

  • Remove CS2, keep CS3, and install CS4

Before I install upgrade to Design Premium CS4, I want to remove/uninstall CS2 and leave CS3.
CS2 does not have an uninstaller (except for Acrobat) like CS3 does. So do I have to uninstall all CS2 applications, files, prefs, etc manually. If so, how? And what and where are they? Will a third party uninstaller app also do the job?

  • Remove CS2 before installing CS4?

I have been using CS2 for all of my work and would like to keep using it as I transition to CS4 Design Premium. I won't have a lot of down-time. Can I install CS4 suite on my hard drive while leaving my CS2 apps untouched?
    1.8 PPC G5
    10.4.11
    1.25 GB RAM

Bob, I have been reading the threads closely, but none have answered my question directly. I'll be more clear.
The internet is full of issues from folks complaining about tricky Adobe suite installers. Will having CS2 on my single hard drive cause problems when going through the process of installing CS4?
    Thanks.

  • Can I remove photoshop cs2 after I have upgraded from cs2 to cs5?

Can I remove Photoshop CS2 after I have upgraded from CS2 to CS5?  I upgraded from CS2 to CS5 quite a while ago and I have never removed CS2.  Will it affect CS5 to remove the old CS2 if it was an upgrade?

If I were you I would just delete the installed  Adobe CS2 folder. Adobe CS2 uninstaller my remove settind CS5 made to your system after CS2.   The CS2 uninstaller may try to restore settings to a point in time where there was no Photoshop installed on your system.  If you do a CS un-install you may need to then Install CS5 on top of itself the update cs5 for the install will not have the updates you will be back at CS5 level .

  • In Design CS2 won't accept serial number during "Personalization" In Design

Re: InDesignCS2 rejects the serial number provided for CS2 special "no-activation" versions.
I am having an identical set of issues as outlined in the above discussion but I am using Windows 7.
My hard disk died and I am simply trying to get back up to speed with the new one. I have Creative Suite 2 Premium.  Following the special instructions for moving certain files so that I wouldn't have the Insert Disk 2 problems I managed to get PhotoShop actuvated and running. However, I am unable to "personalize" InDesign because the system does not like the serial number.  I have tried the one that came on the original box and the one that was on the link I used to download the programs. Both with and without the hyphens.
I have also been unable to uninstall InDesign and start over as the wizard was interrupted just as it was described above.
I have followed the instructions on the link you provided to manually remove CS2:  Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x | Windows  Including attempting to uninstall Creative Suite.  However, Adobe InDesign CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2, and Adobe SVG Viewer 3 still appear in the list of programs and for some reason cannot be uninstalled using the control panel.
In looking at the files that are still on the computer I see a folder C:\Creative Suite CS2. It has folders in it for PhotoShop, Illustrator, and Version Cue plus some other stuff. I was able to delete each of the files individually. but when I attempt to delete Illustrator, I get an error message saying  that it can't be deleted  because a folder or file is open in another application. When I attempt to uninstall that one using the control panel I get a message saying the remover was interrupted before it could finish.
I haven't even gotten to the part of the instructions where you remove things from the registry!
Any thoughts on where to go from here?
    Thanks,
    E.

You need to see the following for CS2 installation:

  • InDesign CS2 (4.0.5) freezes on dragging from one window to another

Using CS2 on Mac 10.4.11, 2.5GB, if I stay within InDesign, works fine, no issues. If I drag from Illustrator or another CS2 app, computer locks up, curser still moves, but apps, keyboard unresponsive. Have to reboot to clear. Have run disk check util, etc.. Have followed all Adobe troubleshooting procedures, removed pref's, cleared all cache's, etc. Have gone as far as removing CS2 (per Adobe guidelines) and reinstalling. No luck, same issues. All other CS2 apps work fine. Not practical to work with only InDesign open, as I work from Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign as a set. Worked fine until Oct 2007 time frame. Looking back, received an update from Adobe at that time. Looking at syslog errors (also UNIX/Linux sys admin by trade), found issues with what appear to be memory address issues in InDesign and XWindows. Anyone else run into this or have a work around?

You know you could have posted all this stuff in one thread.
I answered you in the CS forum.

  • Uninstall CS2 before installing CS3?

A back-to-basics question, but one which most surprisingly not even the CS3 user manual or installation ReadMe mention: Is there any advantage or disadvantage in removing CS2 either before or after installing CS3?
    Thanks.

Since I started with PP2 and have yet to upgrade this app., I have not faced this one yet, but with Photoshop, I always keep the old version on the machine, until I am comfortable doing quick work with the new one. Also, I still have PS ver. 4 on one machine for a single client, who needs a special output and ver. 4 was the last to do what she needs, exactly as she needs it. It's far easier to leave a previous installation on the machine, until everything is working well and one learns the new version completely, rather than doing a reinstall, when things go south in a Project with a deadline looming.

  • Uninstall CS2 after upgrade to CS4 - is there a new walktrough

Just upgraded from CS2 Premium to CS4 Premium on Mac 0SX 10.5.6, but left CS2 on there as I wanted to copy over a few preset files etc from CS2 to CS4.
Now I want to remove CS2. I've got an old document link for removing CS2 but it mentions removing directories that I know CS4 has installed or shares (e.g. Adobe Utilities and Adobe Updater)
Is there a new walkthrough or utility to remove CS2 once you have upgraded to CS4?

    Buko
That's a bit too succinct and general....
In your apps folder will be a folder call 'Adobe Creative Suite 2'. Within this is an' uninstallers' folder which contains the file 'How to uninstall.pdf'. This file is reproduced (as far as I can tell) at http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=331301
This talks you through the various folders/files to remove.
BUT BEWARE - this was written before CS3/4 existed and as my post (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b82bde) points out, there will be some folders it suggests you remove, but that CS4 actually need (e.g. Applications/Utilities/Adobe Utilities folder).
I'm seeking a new 'How to Remove CS2 after installing CS4' document myself.
Have spoken to Adobe Tech support today and their suggestion was to "not remove any files/folders you think CS4 may need'.
How flaky is that for Technical Support - some people like to keep their hard drives lean.

  • Installed Cs4 - can I now uninstall cs2?

I recently installed CS4 upgrade on my laptop and would now like to uninstall the version of CS2 that I have been using.
Will removing CS2 remove any shared files that are necessary for CS4 to work properly?
The reason for removing CS2 is that I am quickly running out of available disk space on drive C.
As a side question,  is it possible to delete CS4 from my laptop and re-install it on my D drive (how wil that affect my activation?)?
Thanks in advance for any and all help

It is not advisable to install Photoshop anywhere but  C:\Program files. Some have done it, but many have had problems.
If you want more space on C:\ move stuff off it and clear out all temp files and other accumulated junk (there is normally a lot!)
Get an external drive for your image files.

  • CS2 and CS5 on the same PC

    Hello,
I am waiting for the student version of CS5 to arrive via UPS, in the mean time the target PC has CS2 on it. Can I leave CS2 on and still install CS5?
    Thanks
    Foto

Yes, the two will coexist peacefully together, and it's actually a good idea to leave it installed.  The only thing is you can't actually run both at the same time.
But with CS2 still on your computer you have the option to go back and check things in the app you're used to, which can be handing when setting up the new one to work the way you want.  And it can be a fallback for you if you just can't get something to work right in CS5.
If you have the disk space there's really no reason to ever remove CS2.  If you leave it in there you can, for example, in the future help people on this forum who have CS2 questions.

  • Edit for CS2 and CS3

Am making my transition from CS2 to CS3 and after installing and activating
CS3, it now shows that program as an option for editing a picture, but it
removed CS2. Is there a way for me to put back in CS2 as well? While I will
eventually be doing all my edits in CS3, for the time being, I feel more
comfortable having both available from the right-click menu in LR 1.1.
    Thanks much.

Go to Lightroom - Preferences and click on the "External Editing" tab. In the lower half of the form you can set another app as an "additional external editor" - it then comes up as a choice when you right click in LR.

  • Adobe CS2 Q - did everything other posts told me to do.

Hi, before you get frustrated, I have read and implemented most of the suggestions that I could find in these forums...
    Outline of problem.
G5 running latest version of 10.4 with all patches recently applied. CS2 Photoshop will start, but will NOT open any files. Can see thumbnail of image, but beachball of death when clicked open. Tested files on other macs in office, all open it fine.
Removed CS2 ( all other CS2 apps were not deleted ), reinstalled. Nothing. Deleted adobe.com.photoshop.plist ( after major issues as it was locked ). Nothing.
Tested new account on mac and was able to open file.
Ran ONYX and pretty much ticked all options on all tabs.
Short of reinstalling OS, I don't know what else to try.
Tearing my hair out. Anything Else I can try ?
    Thank you in advance, Paul.

That it works in a new account but not yours indicates something wrong with an item in your user account. So unless you erase the drive, reinstalling the OS isn't going to help. The most likely problem is a bad preference file. You just need to find the right one.
Quit Photoshop. Open the Preferences folder in your user account and move the folder "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings" to the desktop. Launch Photoshop and see if it solves the problem. If not, quit PS again and move the folder on the desktop back to the Preferences folder so you don't have to reset all of your application preferences.

  • How to deinstall CS2 under Vista

I want to deinstall CS2 (installed under Vista), but can't find the Software in system control (listing of installed programs). How is this possible, and can somebody give me a hint how to remove cs2?
    Regards
    Dirk
    (Berlin)

Bob, the installation cd does not help. It tells me to uninstall first, otherwise the installation is canceled. The Adobe deinstallation advise in the program files also says to deinstall through system control.
    regards
    Dirk
