Removing CS5 After CS5.5 installation (MAC)

Hi
I know this is a boring question but.....I bought the upgrade to CS5.5 from CS5 (Master Collection for MAC).  I thought it would ask be about removing old versions during install but it didn't. Now I have both CS5 AND CS5.5 installed.
I know that inside each program folder (in Applicatioins) is an "Uninstall" program.  Should I just do that with each of the old versions? I am nervous that something weird might happen (removing part of the new versions).  Thank you in advance for your help.

You have 25 terabytes on your internal drive? Is that even possible? Because I'm not talking about externals. Anyway, I admittedly am not a film guy, I found this thread through googling and I will check out that link you sent but its just annoying that I have to download something else to uninstall some software cleanly. A basic thing users do all the time.
Also don't get me wrong I love Adobe but this issue is just one of a few annoying ones they constantly leave unanswered, and people like the original poster ask how to remove and instead of answering that question, Adobe (and others) tell him to keep it. But that wasn't his question....answer the man's question. Adobe has tons of users asking this because most DONT WANT TO KEEP OLD VERSIONS. Hard drive space is not THAT cheap, and there's no point in keeping old versions. None. Why would I ever need CS2? It would be taking up roughly 10 gigs a release x however many versions, PLUS all those hidden system files that build up enough and probably affect your computer's performance. No thanks. Just tell me how to clean out the old.
But I do thank you for the link...I will check it out and see if that is the fix we're all looking for.

  • Installed CS5 after CS5.5. How do I fix associations?

I installed CS5.5 Master which includes PRemiere and After Effects onto a brand new PC I built. I though I knew that I'd never need my copy of CS5 MC again so I didn't even load it. Then I realized I have several plug-ins that will not install in CS5.5. So I went ahead and installed CS5 MAster but only selected After Effects and Premiere since these are the only ones I need the plugins for. Well...it worked, but going forward "all" plugins are pointing to CS5 now instead. I modified the registry key HKLM\software\adobe\premiere pro\current version\plug-insDir to point back to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Common\Plug-ins\CS5.5\MediaCore.
I thought this should fix it but is does not. Additionally all my projects are opening with CS5 instead of CS5.5. Is there some way to fix this? Can I reinstall CS5.5 overtop of itself, even if I've done all the updates and installed a dozen+ plugins? Any help would be great!
    Thanks.

These are older versions of a few plugins that work in CS5.5 but will not properly install since the installation package is looking for CS5. I have them installed and working now, but I am wondering how I can get CS5.5 to be the main version of CS on my system again? I tried to go into Programs and Features and see if I could simply do a repair of the installation but Adobe only offers uninstall options. I'll keep looking. I realize now that I should have installed CS5 then CS5.5 but I have a streamlined clean build that I spent 3-4 days on and don't want to start from scratch.
    Thanks.

Hi, sometime ago I tried to use PP Ccv + Encore CS 6 on my i-Mac (I generally use my PC).
After the download and installation of Encore contents, I was unable to start aby jib with Encore : the launch remained pending at the half starting process.A message from OS-X (Maverick updated) indicated that Encore was waiting a Thunderbolt connection which does not exist on my i-Mac.
If I uninstalled the Encore content, Encore started and worked normally.

You do know that CS6 is not, and will not be, supported for Mavericks?

  • Uninstalling CS5 after CS5.5 upgrade

Maybe my search-fu isn't what it used to be, but I couldn't find any definitive info on this:
Can I safely uninstall the CS5 Master Collection applications after installing the CS5.5 upgrade on OS X? (Assuming I no longer wish to run the CS5 apps for whatever reason.) Both were installed from disc, and CS5 was my "qualifying product" for the upgrade.
I know enough to use the uninstallers in the Adobe Applications folders, but I've seen (slightly dubious) anecdotal evidence to suggest that uninstalling CS5 apps after the 5.5 upgrade may actually botch 5.5. Can anyone confirm or deny this? What's the best practice?

The components of the two versions are independent. You should have no problem uninstalling the older version.

  • InDesign CS5 crashes on startup - Mac OSX Lion

    Hi Everyone,
I've reinstalled InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator CS5 after upgrading to Mac OSX Lion,
Photoshop and Illustrator work fine but InDesign crashes on startup.
I've followed a few threads on here, one suggested creating a new adimistrator-level user on my machine - and that works, but I can't figure out what to fix in my regular user to make InDesign work in here again...
This is the error report I'm getting:
    http://pastebin.com/a2LrMFdw
    Help, anyone?
    Thanks a lot!

I'm having a similar problem but I haven't been able to get it to work. I created a new administer level user but InDesign still won't open under that user. I've tried the other suggestions as well with no success. Please help!!!! It really doesn't help that I'm in South East Asia traveling with no fast internet to be found.  :\

  • Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs in control panel after the installation.

    Hi,
I have a strange problem with "Package status not appended in the Add Remove Programs after the installation.".
Like, onec the package is installed via SCCM, it should be listed in the Add Remove programs with the package name, version and the install date.
At times on random machine these details are not appended. Although the application works fine on the machine, but the correct details are not populated in Add/ Remove programs.
There is no issue with the package as it shows correct details on few other machine where it is installed.
This behaviour is random on random machines. Hence, very difficult to track the reason.
    System Security analyst at CapG

    Hi Jason,
Yes, i have tried Jorgen's suggestion, ans as said earlier. It install the application smoothly on any other machine (any random machine) perfectly with correct details in Add Remove Programs.
As mentioned earlier, the same package, same environment, same set of machines with same OS, it installs correctly on few machines.. and on few its just misses to add correct details in Add Remove progs.
If it was related to package, how does it install corretly on other machines?? How does the same package installs correctly when done manually or by that means by PSEXEC.
To a matter of fact, we are checking our package for the multiple times now, just to make sure it is buldled correctly with correct install scripts. We are trying to search different multiple ways to see what makes the package to skip the
correct entry in the Add Remove.
To add, this is not with one package, it happens with random package with random machine. There is not typical behaviour that could be tracked.
All the installations done via SCCM 07, with admin account.
This looks more tricky and complex then as simple as saying, its the fault of packaging.
I hate to say this but this is NOT a CM07 problem, You will need to work with your packaging team, and use tools like process monitor, psexec and the msi log to determine why it is failing.
Your first step is to find a pc where you can consistent get the setup to fails. once you get that you can use process monitor and the msi log files to determine what is going on.

  • Can't launch or reinstall Flash Pro CS5 after Flash Pro CC installation

I'm on a newly installed hard drive with a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.7.5. I installed Flash Pro CS5 and it opened fine. Then I installed Flash Pro CC and now I cannot open the CS5 version. It says there is a configuration error and I need to uninstall and reinstall the application. So I tried reinstalling and I get a message that I must either cancel the installation or eject the disk image. I have tried all the workarounds suggested for bypassing Mac OS Gatekeeper and still no luck. An Adobe rep from another forum suggested I post this issue here to see if anyone has any suggestions. Here is what I have tried so far:
Control-click on the installer and choose open to run it.
Disabled Gatekeeper in Security and Privacy settings of System Preferences.
    Disabled Gatekeeper manually in Terminal.
Tried to uninstall the original installation of Flash CS5, but it says the uninstaller file can't be found.
Ran the Adobe Cleaner tool to remove CS5 applications.
Ran the spctl -a command on the installer and it said CSSMERR_TP_CERT_REVOKED. Assuming this means the certificate has been revoked?
    Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Bernst did you also run the uninstaller located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder?  This is meant to be ran prior to utilizing the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find more details at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Also what specific configuration error are you receiving?

  • Today after a long time I tired to open photoshop CS5.1 on my mac, however it has vanished?

Today after a long time I tired to open photoshop CS5.1 on my mac, however it has vanished and I am unable to find it anywhere on my system. I have recently done an update to my system so am unsure if this has affected it in anyway but the only thing I am able to find in Adobe Utilities is an uninstall option? I have tried reopening old saved psd files but these only open up preview. The photoshop I owned was a student version so am unsure if this has something to do with it going away ? Is there a way to get it to come back at all with out having to buy it again?

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall.

  • Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6?

Can I remove safely Photoshop CS5 after a successful upgrade to Photoshop CS6? What is best and safest way to do this?

If you are using a Windows OS
Open CS5 and go Help > Deactivate.
Then Control Panel > Programs and features > select CS5 and uninstall.
Or just leave it there.  Make sure you have sorted any third party plugins from CS5, although the uninstall should leave them intact.

  • After Effects CS5 is crashing my Mac when I trim a clip

I don't have much to explain this further but After Effects CS5 is crashing my Mac when I trim a clip.  It completely turns off my Mac when I trim a clip. Don't know what to do.
I have 8gigs of Ram and am running 27" iMac Core i5
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hal

Are you running these two program together?
I would think so.OK you are probably running them both as 64 bit that is great that they run 64 bit and can use more RAM and even better they actually do use more RAM.
So the solution is probably more RAM, don't run them to together or lower the expectations of Photoshop and AE.
That way they won't try to use all the RAM to do this work. It will probably do the wrk pretty fast but not as fast if you had more RAM maybe.
Also AE and PS on an iMac, what about your scratch disk. Is it a very fast external drive and how is it connected?
If you don't have a fast internal drive say with at least a 32MB buffer running at 7200rpm then there you go a real contributing ffactor.
To be honest you need both more RAM and a fast start up disk and a fast external scratch.
The new 2TB drives by Seagate run at 7200 rpm and have  64 MB cache which s as important as the rotation. You can possibly make a Raptor an external scratch as well at 300 GB they are probably not arge enough s a start up.
    Those are my thoughts.
16 GB of RAM a larger faster internal drive lower the performance and memory setting as well.

  • Is it safe to remove Photoshop CS5 after installing CS6??

Is it safe to remove Photoshop CS5 after installing CS6??

It is safer to remove it before installing CS6.  There can be some shared elements and/or settings that might be compromised if you install CS6 while CS5 is installed and then remove CS5.

  • Could not restore CS5 using Time Machine after changing to Mac OS8.3

Could not restore Photoshop CS5 using Time Machine after changing to Mac OS8.3 - the change was dictated by a power supply problem (now fixed) in my Macbook Pro - that has been fixed.

Restoring the Adobe application via Time machine is not a good practise and may cause other issues as well.
Please install the application properly rather restoring.
