Removing Desktop Manager from Windows7 XP Mode Autostart

Hello,
I installed the Desktop Manager on Windows 7 XP Mode and chose to run it on system start. Now I think this was a bad choice and want to remoce it from Autostart, but I don't know how. Please help!
hagen

Hi there!
As I recall, that option (auto start) can only be changed by a complete removal and re-installation of DTM. Here is a procedure:
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
5) Install DTM to your PC
6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

Desktop Manager loads every time I turn on my PC.  How do I make that stop?  I only want Desktop Manager to load when I plug in my BB to do a backup/restore, etc.  I use Windows 7.

    Hello wvusuperfan,
Open the Desktop Software, select the Tools menu and go to General tab and make sure the "Start BlackBerry Desktop Software when a device is connected" options is unchecked.
Press OK  and close the application.

  • Asha 200 removing sim manager from display

    Hello all.
Is it at all posible to remove sim manager display so there would be no writing of operator choices on screen. Ultimately my goal is to have clean screen if possible. Thank you!

    Hi fetfreak,
Thank you for your post. You cannot hide the operator network display from the screen; tips will be to keep it clear from unread items such as sms, missed call and voicemail or email alert.

  • How to remove update manager from vcenter applicance

Long story, but, where update manager had been installed had to be rebuilt.  I am now wanting to remove traces of it.  When I look in vcenter it still looks as though it is queuing requests to look for udpates.  How to stop vcenter from using update manager?
Thanks in advance... this is driving me crazy, I've spent a huge part of my day dealing with this.... thanks again..

For those who are interested, I resolved this by deleting the scheduled task in the vcenter web client.

  • BB Desktop Manager v4.7 error

I recently downloaded v4.7 for the desktop and was having issues so I removed it from my computer. I tried to reinstall but it won't let me. I am no longer getting the error code for the .msi file to be located, but I am now getting that "the wizard was interrupted before Blackberry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system at this time has not been modified. to complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click finish to exit." Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to get everything completely uninstalled and then reinstall it with no problems? I know that it is still showing up in the Add/Remove program but won't allow it to be removed. Not sure what all I need to get removed. Also have BlackBerry Media Sync installed. Any help would be appreciated as this happened yesterday and I am still fighting with it to get it corrected.

  • Desktop manager doesn't reinstall on Windows 7 machine

I have been trying to install desktop manager and continue to get errors.  I started by installing the CD from Verizon, but when it installed it generated a blank black window with no menus.  At that point I tried to update from the web, but it wouldn't verify that the blackberry device was plugged in to the computer after installation.  Then I tried to procedure for a clean uninstall on the support blog.  The procedure had no specific instructions for windows 7 but I thought I followed it closely.  Now the install wizard starts but says that it was interrupted prior to completion and no modifications have been made.  Does someone have a work around to install the software if some unidentified piece remains on the hard drive?  Thanks.

Just to make sure, you followed all the steps about performing a clean uninstall correct?
Does other software install fine and just not the Desktop Manager. Try downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555175
If it finds references to the Desktop Manager it should be able to remove them for you. Afterwards reboot the computer and try to install Desktop Manager from the web again.

  • Desktop Manager 5.0 searches for device upgrades

Hi...yesterday, in my infinite wisdom, I decided to upgrade the Desktop Manager from 4.5. I started by upgrading to 4.7and I let it "check for upgrades." When it finished, it found 5.0,so, I upgraded again to 5.0--again, letting it check for upgrades. It found some upgrades that weren't real--and RIM tech support walked me through reinstalling the OS, which also deleted all data on my BB but not the 3rd party apps that were installed. So, I re-entered data and today, I've got things up and running just fine. Also, the Desktop Manager works just fine, synchronizing with Outlook and making backups.
I've begun to find this "checking for updates" behavior annoying, so, I read here and found that I can modify the installation from Add/Remove Programs (I'm using XP, SP3). I made the change (set "check for updates" to "not installed on this computer" and removed the check from the box on the final screen), and then I rebooted the computer.
The "check for updates" link no longer appears in the BB Desktop Manager, BUT, each time I plug in my device, it checks for Device updates. Is there some way to stop this truly annoying behavior? I'm guessing that my actions stopped Desktop Manager from checking for updates to itself but not to the device and I can't find any options to turn off this behavior.
     Thanks!!

Issues are resolved when software is doing something that is not inherent to its purpose.  This is a prime purpose of DTM.
That you don't want it to check for device updates does not constitute it being a software bug/issue.

  • How do I change settings so Blackberry desktop manager doesn't open when I start my computer??

I want the desktop manager to open when I ask it to, or else to open automatically when I connect my phone to the computer by USB.  Currently, it opens when I start my computer.  I would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Did you install the software from a CD or download it?
If from the CD, put it back in your drive. When the wizard appears choose the Modify option. Select the BlackBerry Desktop Manager from the 3 choices listed and hit Next. Your going to reselect the same options as you did when you first installed the software, but stop and the last step where you have the 2 checkboxes. You want to uncheck the top one that talks about starting the software when the computer starts
If you just downloaded the software go into Add/Remove Programs, select the BlackBerry Desktop Manager and hit the Change/Remove button. Then just follow the steps above.
    Hope this helps

  • Blackberry desktop manager for mac not working

    Hi guys,
New to Blackberry yesterday and hitting a few problems, wondered if anyone had any advice, any mac users a bonus.
I installed the Desktop Manager from the CD that came with my Curve 3G onto my mac yesterday, that installed fine.
I then connected my phone and loaded the application up, it backed up fine, but when I went to Applications it told me I needed to install the latest version.
I went to the Blackberry site and downloaded it from there to make sure I had the latest version, although I'm sure they were the same builds as on the CD
I uninstalled the one I installed from the CD and tried again with the one I downloaded from the Blackberry site, but  It still flags up the same error that this is not the latest version.
I've had a quick browse on the net and it seems other mac users have had the same problems, does anybody have any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks
    Shaun

I'm having what seems to be the same problem and it's driving me crazy.
I just installed BlackBerry Desktop Software 2.0.0 (it's the only one I've ever had installed) and every time I open it and click "Applications' I get a window that says "A newer version of BlackBerry® Desktop Software is required to update the software on your device. Please download an updated version and retry."
At the same time a "Install/Remove Applications" window opens behind this window but nothing is listed, then the window disappears and "Device update cancelled" appears in the bottom left corner.
If I clicked to download the updated version before both windows disappeared, I get a "Download Progress" bar that says "Downloading updates. Please Wait."
It eventually times out and I get a window that says "The update download failed with the following error: The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -3003.)"
Anyone with this problem found a resolution? I've been searching around for nearly 2 hours and nada.

  • 9530 Desktop Manager & Vista 32

Ok... I have been searching around the site quite a bit to see what I could find in regards to the issue that I am having, but nothing that is quite the same.
I've got my Storm connected to my computer via USB (either cradle or plain USB) , but Desktop Manager (from Verizon supplied CD and downloaded) does not see the phone at all. The weird part is that Vista see's the phone and memory card perfectly fine. I was having an issue with the device drivers not being found by Windows, but after pulling the battery as someone else in the forums suggested, the drivers installed perfectly. But still no way to actually sync my phone. I would love to reset the phone or reinstall Vista, but Vista is a clean install, only a few weeks old, and I don't want to lose everything I've got on the phone.
I have also tried pulling the SIM card, reinstalling Desktop Manager, different USB cables and everything that I could possibly imagine that may help. Are there any Windows hardware issues that I may need to know about that may cause issues... Besides Vista itself? Also has anyone notice a login delay when the Roxio Media Manager is starting after logging on, or even just using it in general?

I solved the problem!  In summary I had to completely uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager software and then reinstall it.  Once it hung during it's initialization (with my BlackBerry Storm connected) I simply disconnected the BlackBerry Storm, pressed the "Synchronize" button, setup the synchronization configuration with Outlook 2007, reconnected my BlackBerry Storm, and pressed the "Synchronize" button.  More detailed steps follow...
    1.  Completely remove the BlackBerry Desktop Manager Software using the procedure described in Research in Motion Support Doc ID KB02206 - "How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software" which can be found at:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB02206&slic...
    2.  Download version 4.7 of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software WITHOUT the Media Manager from this location on the Research in Motion website:  http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    3.  Install version 4.7 of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software downloaded in step 3.
    4.  Execute the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.  Connect the BlackBerry Storm when requested by the software.  If the software hangs, disconnect the BlackBerry Storm.
    5.  With the BlackBerry Storm connected (or disconnected if the Desktop Manager Software hangs in step 4) press the "Synchronize" button.  Follow the setup wizard instructions for configuring the Desktop Manager Software so that it synchronizes with your application (I use Outlook 2007).
    6.  Once the Desktop Manager Software has had its synchronization configuration setup, connect the BlackBerry Storm, if disconnected in step 4 and press the "Synchronize" button.  Let the synchronization process go to completion.
Once I followed the above steps all 2,136 contact records, 372 calendar records, 119 task records, and 95 memo records were successfully synchronized from my copy of Outlook 2007 to my BlackBerry Storm.  Good luck and I hope this helps.

  • Curve 8310 Problems Syncing Outlook Calendar & Desktop Manager Freezing

Hi: I recently bought a Curve 8310. It has Desktop Manager version 4.2.2.14; my laptop has Vista Home Premium and I use Outlook 2007.
Just a day or two ago Desktop Manager started crashing while syncing Outlook Calendar. It stops at Calendar entry 76 and then freezes. From checking the Technical Solution Center I understand the problem may be a corrupt Calendar entry. Dealing with this apparently involves going into Configure Synchronization but Desktop Manager won't let me do this. If I start it when the phone is connected to my laptop it doesn't register the connection and often freezes. If I start it, then connect the phone, and stop the synchronization process before it crashes Manager, clicking on any of the Desktop Manager ikons, including Synchronize, doesn't have any effect. I've tried reinstalling Desktop Manager from the CD supplied by my phone provider but it's made no difference.
I'd be grateful for any advice; Before this problem developed I was really enjoying my BlackBurry.

    Hi,
First we need to do a clean reinstall of the software to makes sure all registry and files have been completely removed:
     Link 1.
Then we need too reinstall the 4.2 software, taking into account the Vista considerations for install:
    Link 2
After install reboot the PC, start DM, Pull the battery while the device is ON, replace after a minute,
Let the device reboot 1-3 min,  Plug the BB into the USB cable, Go to synchronization options and rest the options to only
Synch the calendar, sync for two way, select no other programs. Start the sync process.
Please let us know the results,
