Removing Detailed Navigation Section

Hi,
I have a few WD applications running on the server. For certain applications, the Detailed Navigation Link section in the Portal is undesirable.
Please provide your valuable inputs on how can I remove the Detailed Navigation Link Section in portal for certain WD applications.
Thanks and Regards,
Sayan Ghosh

Hi,
There is one property for the PCD objects:
Initial State - Open or Closed
By default, this property will be open. Based upon your requirement, you can make it closed for those PCD objects for which you do not want detailed navigation.

Deepak

• Remove Detailled Navigation on certain page?

Hi all,
I would like not to remove detailled navigation at all, but on a certain page.
It´s the page, which appears when you click "personalize" in the masthead area.
Somebody know, how to do this?
Best regards
Davor

Hi,
You can delete the detailed Navigation iView from the Framework page which will remove it permanently.
But in case you want this to appear/disappear only on few pages then the only option provided in Portal configurations is to change the property Initial State of Navigation Panel in the corresponding Views.

• Links in detailed navigation

how do i add new links in the detailed navigation section? is it added in workset or page?

Hi Arun,
The Hierarchy of Portal object is iview, Page, workset, role. You can view application once the role is assigned to the user. If the entry point is role, role and workset appears in the Top Level Navigation (TLN) and the rest of the hierarchy appears in Detailed Level Navigation. Usually the no of items in TLN is 2. We can change it to 1,2 or 3 depending on the requirement and the rest if any will appear in the DLN. So we cannot say which object appears in the DLN.
Also there is concept of Workset within Workset, Page within Page. It all depends how the object is packaged.
Have a look at this documentation

• Detail Navigation

Hi Team,
In Navigation panel i want to remove Detailed Navigation Name
I checked in theme editor but i could'nt find the property
Please help me

Check that the object is not locked (System Administration > Monitoring > Portal > Object Locking).
If it is not locked, verify that you are editing the proper framework page. Goto System Administration > Portal Display > Desktops & Display Rules > Portal Content > Portal Administrators > Master Rule Collection. Find the desktop that is being used and then check what framework page is being used by that desktop.
Secondly, you want to edit the properties for the Detailed Navigation iView, not the Desktop Innerpage. You need to first open the Desktop Innerpage so that you can access the properties for the Detailed Navigation iView.
Also, if you change "Show Object Name in Tray" to No, then the tray will still exist, but the name will not be displayed. If you want to remove the tray entirely, then change "Show Tray" to No (that is what it sounds like you want to do).

• User selecting default display page from detailed navigation

Hello all,
Can individual users select a default display page from the detailed navigation section? For instance, say I have a list of pages in the detailed navigation each showing a BW report;
Detailed Navigation
Report 1
Report 2
Report 3
Report 4
So when the users navigate from the top level to here then 'Report 1' is automatically displayed. Say that towards the end of the quarter userX will be looking at 'Report 3' mostly while userY will wish to concentrate on 'Report 2', can the users themselves set their default? Or must this be done by the portal admin, rearranging the order of these pages in the assigned role or changing the display priority of them? But then it wouldn't be per user, if they shared the role.
If the users cannot do this themselves is there a way to do it in Java perhaps?
Thanks for you time,
Patrick.

Hi Detlev,
We decided on an easy way through.
Each page has to display a BW report, very simple. So we're going to give the users an iView where they get a list of all BW reports that they have access to (read from a text file). From there they select what they wish to be their default report (written to another text file).
The default page (first on detailed navigation) reads the text file and displays the BW report found there in an IsolatedHtmlContainer. Not precisely what was wanted at the start but pretty much offers the same functionality.
Thanks for your help, I'll read the doc. It's always good to know these things.
Patrick.

• Changes not reflecting in Detailed Navigation iView

Hi,
I want to change the font size of the links that appear in my Detailed Navigation iView.
When i change the font size in the List Detailed Navigation section of the Navigation Panel in my theme, the changes are not reflected in my Detailed Navigation iView.
But changes to welcome area etc are happening.
Could you please help me on this.
Thanks
Saurav

Hi,
try to change the "font size" or "base font size" in the "navigation panel styles" under Navigation panel, then the font size will effect to all in navigation panel.
If you want to apply only to Detailed navigtaion iview, change in "font weight of an item" in detailed navigation list of navigation panel.
hope this helps you.

• Detailed Navigation collapsed/expanded

Hi everyone,
For SAP EP 7.3 is it possible to configure (without development) that Detail Navigation appears initially collapsed when clicking any workset second level option? And once any option be selected inside the page this Detailed Navigation section be expanded again?
Thanks in advance,

Hi,
There is a property called "Initial State of Navigation Panel" and the options available for this property are Open, Close, Automatic and Always Close. This property is available for Role/Workset/Page?iView. Please work on this property to get the required result.
Regards,
Nagireddy.

• Detailed navigation wont remove completely

Hi,
I've been through all the threads on SDN and as a result have removed all but the content area from my default framework page and set the 'set to invisible in navigation parameters' to yes for all the iviews in the role.
However I'm facing two issues.
Firstly, for all ESS screens the small right arrow 'expand' icon remains present for the detailed navigation window. Clicking on it will open a blank window which is not ideal. Can anyone advise how to remove the navigation window completely so that the expand arrow does not appear?
Secondly, rather randomly, for the family member depenendents page the detailed navigation appears as expanded despite being set to 'always close' in the view properties within the role (all other pages are fine). Can anyone advise how to overcome this?
Thanks
Phil

Kirstoffer,
I would check the registry under Microsoft Software registry entries. There is a diagnotic tool or you could check the following manually.
HKCR = HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKLM = HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKCU = HKEY_CURRENT_USER

• Remove Folder icon on detailed navigation

Could anyone tell me how to more the folder icon from the detailed navigation so that I can have my detailed navigation look like it does on the left of this page?
I would also like to know how to get the "+" and "-" icons to display instead of bullets.
Thanks
Patrick

Hi Patrick,
Download the par file named com.sap.portal.navigation.detailedtree.par from the pcd directory and import it in Netweaver developer studio. You will find two gif files in the /dist/images folder. Rename your image files as the files in that folder. Then copy your images to that folder. Then rebuild the par file and rename it to com.sap.portal.navigation.detailedtree.par and upload it to the server. Restart the server and your tree should have changed.

• Employee search iview integration into Detailed navigation

EP7
ESS/MSS 600
ECC6
Hello,
In the EP6 version of the TeamViewer it was easily added to the "Detailed Navigation" part of the page. Does anyone know how to achieve this in EP7 with Employee Search?
thx
Larry

Any iViews can be added to the navigation panel. All you need to do is add them to another iView or page as either a related link or as a dynamic navigation. The related links appear under a section in the navigation panel called "related links", Dynamic navigation iViews appear with their proper name in the navigation panel.
Cheers

• I want to remove the comments section

hi this is my site http://demo402.businesscatalyst.com/news/company-announces-record-profits
i want to remove the comments section . how i will do that

If you're not familiar with HTML make sure you create a backup of the html in a text editor before editing, that way you can replace it later if you need to.
What you want to do is go into the
Site settings > Module templates > News Layouts > Detail layout.
Click the html tab bottom of the editing window.
Remove the comment form div code which should look like this: starting with
and ending with

Comment

Was this helpful?
No Very

Name (optional)

Website (optional)

Email Address (optional)

Enter Word Verification in box below
{module_captchav2}

Comment (optional)

Then save.
If you delete the wrong code, restore from the backup copy.

• Different links in the detailed navigation, based on URL alias

What I'm trying to do :
Based on URL aliases /irj/portal/individual or /irj/portal/business
I will dynamically add an UME group to the already logged in user.
Filter :
If clicking on /irj/portal/individual I will store "group=individual" in the context, and add UME group individual, if clicking /irj/portal/business I will store "group=business" in the context, and add UME group business and remove individual, and then redirect to the same URL.
Configuration
Each UME group has a one-to-one mapping to a Portal role.
I will place an ACL on the PCD content, based on group, hiding/showing aggregated folders, hanging under the roles.
Wanted end-result
Different links in the detailed navigation, based on URL alias.
My question is how you would implement the filter part, mentioned above ?
Portal app or J2EE servlet filter or something else ?

Hi sunil,
Create a JSPDynPage component(C) having 2 hbj:link whose hrefs point to these 2 iViews(A and B). U can get the href of the iView by previewing it(for A and B). Create an iview from the par component (C) and add it to the DLN so that it shows the links to ur iViews(A and B). U can make the Show Tray property of this iView (C) to false.

• Fodler in detailed navigation wont open

Hey people!
I having some problems with folder in detailed navigation. The problem is that the folder wont expand. I have tested it on several computers, and i am only experince this problem on one computer. That means that its not a issue inside the portal, but with the browser, or some local security issue. All the computers are/should using the same security settings. Do you got any tips what could be wrong?
The computer it fails on, have earlier had IE 7.0 installed, but this is now removed and IE 6.0 is installed. So it could be some IE leftovers.

Kirstoffer,
I would check the registry under Microsoft Software registry entries. There is a diagnotic tool or you could check the following manually.

• How to change label of Detailed Navigation

Hello Forum Friends,
I have en EP 6.0 on WAS 640 SP19 on Netweaver 2004 , and I have structured a navigation hierarchy with a 2 level Top Level Navigation and with a third level in the Detailed Navigation, so that the third level constructs itself in the Detailed Navigation. But I need to figure out if I can change the label of the Detailed Navigation Iview, this is if I have in the Detailed navigation nodes relating to years, instead of having the Detailed Navigation Name in the name of the iview it displays Years as label, also in another page if the nodes in the Detailed Navigation are related to (for example) months, it displays Months in the Detailed Navigation iview name , since my boss doesn't want to see the label Detailed Navigation, but he want to have a label related to the content that is displaying.
I don't know if I can change someting dinamically with the Detailed Navigation Iview to have this behavior or if you can provide another workaround for having this behavior.
Thanks in advance
Luis
Rewarding point will be given.

Hi Luis,
The non-programming way to do this is the following:
1. Make Deltalink or hard Copy of the DTN and place them in you customer specific namespace. Do this for every title you need.
Lets say for this example 3 (Year, Month and Week)
2. Rename the iViews as you want (Year, Month and Week)
3. Add these DTN iviews as Dynamic navigation iViews to a all the pages that they need to be visible with.
If you don't have all the content yet you could better create a page template and add the renamed iView to the different Page Templates. Then create the pages based on these templates. Saves time when you need to change something in the future
4. Create a copy of you Frameworkpage and remove the default DTN of it.
5. Assign this framework/desktop to everyone who needs these "special labeled DTN"
I hope you get what I mean with this... If you want to do this with programming you could remodel the SAP DTN or build your own DTN based on TAG libraries.
Good Luck,
Benjamin Houttuin
