Removing Discoverer 4.1 Desktop

The company I work for has migrated from Desktop to Plus. The person supporting Desktop has left and the Plus team cannot/will not offer any support. So here is my question...I am trying to remove the Desktop version using ORAINST. However I get an error stating that Oracle services are still running. I have tried killing the PIDs running these services but they all restart automatically. I have also tried unregistering the dlls with no luck. I cannot see any of the Oracle dlls associated with svchost in the registry so I assume they start in a different manner. My apologies for my ignorance on this issue.
BTW we are running WXP svc pack 2.
Please let me know how to remove this application and thanks for your help!

How does one determine which Oracle dlls are loaded? If I look in the services control panel no Oracle services are running. If I run a "tasklist" against that computer for say the core40.dll, it reports as a dll launched by svchost.exe.
However if I look at the spot in the registry where dlls are normally started from there is no entry for core40.dll
Does Oracle start these dlls in a different manner than from within the registry? I hope this does not make this more confusing...thanks for the reply and help!

I was trying to move my photos from the iPhoto library to an external hard drive.  I now have a desktop display of thousands of cascading photos.  How do I remove them from my desktop screen?

Strangely enough we can not see you so it really helps if you share with use exactly what you have, exactly what you did and details about the problem
what version of iPhoto and of the OS? What exact steps did you do? where are you seeing these "thousands of cascading photos" now and using what software and what exactly did you want to accomplish
The correct way to move your iphoto library to an external drive is to verify the drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journal) and then drag the iphotl library intact as a single entity to is
The correct way to move some or all of your photos is to select them in iphoto and export 9file menu ==> export  --  https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921 ) to the external drive

  • Oracle discoverer Administrator and Desktop 'Invalid Username/Password

    Dear all,
None of my users can login to Oracle discoverer Administrator and Desktop. It gives invalid username and password. What could be the problem?

Pl post details of OS, database and Discoverer versions. Is this EUL for an EBS database ? If so, are users checking the "apps user" check box on the login page ?

  • Removing Items/Icons from Desktop

I have installed items that I saved to my desktop. After installing them I moved them FROM my DESKTOP FOLDER into different folders (usually APPLICATIONS). Some of them remain on my desktop.
I don't want to keep the application but want to clear off my desktop. If I drag to the trash, I get the EJECT symbol.
How do I get the icon off my desktop without deleting it? Will dragging it to the trash really just eject or end the program? I have already pinned the ones I want to my dock.
    Thanks in advance.

Each of the items with the eject symbol is a mounted disk image, and using the eject button will remove them from the desktop. A disk image cannot be unmounted if any of the items on it are in use, and the application needs to be quit first. The dmg file associated with that image will make the icon reappear on the desktop if double-clicked.

  • Remove uninstalled apps from Desktop App?

I have uninstalled several older apps, like the CS6 and original CC apps, using the standard Windows "uninstall" app from the control panel.
I would like to remove them from the desktop app so that they no longer show up asking to be updated. Eventually, they should even stop showing up at the bottom asking to be installed. A filter could deal with that, I would think.
Have I missed a way to do that? I just can't find it and searching has failed me. I must not have the right search terms to get the answer.
Basically, the only older app I want to see is Premiere Pro CS6 and only because I still help people with problems they are having. As for the rest of the apps, I only need the latest and greatest versions showing up.
    Thanks,
    Steven

CC desktop lists applications as "Up to Date" when not installed

    db verion : 11.2.0.3
    Discoverer version : 11.1.1.4
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi,
You need to install Disco Admin to create and maintain an EUL. Discoverer Administrator and Desktop are part of the same installation and you should always install both. The software download is available from the Oracle Discoverer 11g Fusion Middleware (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/discoverer/downloads/index.html). You install Oracle BI Discoverer Desktop and Discoverer Administrator 11.1.1.3.0 onto Microsoft Windows.

  • Can I remove download folder from desktop without deleting

My Downloads folder has gotten on my desktop and now to remove it I have to put it in the trash and lose all my downloads. Is there something else I can do? It is already on my dock and in finder, but once I put the download folder from the desktop in the trash it removes my downloads from finder and the dock.

Open a Finder window and navigate to your User directory (it will typically have folders including Desktop, Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures). Click the arrow to the left of Desktop and you should see the Downloads folder that is currently on your desktop. Drag that Downloads folder (or the Downloads folder on your desktop -- they are the same) to the blank space in the Finder window below the other folders -- i.e., below Documents, Movies, etc.)

  • Mail Removes Open Emails From Desktop On Shutdown

I like to open Mail emails onto my desktop to remind me that they need to be replied to.  But beginning awhile back, maybe around Mtn Lion or so, they randomly get removed from my desktop upon shutdown or startup.  This has complicated my organizational system for keeping my communications in order.  This is on my iMac 27, i7, 2.8 GHz, 8 GB. Running OSX 10.9.4, Mail 7.3.  This has been happening for awhile now and still is so I don't think it is specific to current hardware of software.  I haven't tried any specific fixes for this as I don't know where to begin.  Over this same time I have replaced the OS and Clean Installed everything, for other reasons, yet still the issue persists. Is anyone else having a similar problem?  I would really love to find a fix for this, any suggestions.

This is a POP account, right? What are your Preferences > Accounts > Advanced > Remove copy from server settings?

  • How can I remove icons from the desktop on my iPad Mini?

I understand that there are apps on my iPad that I cannot delete, but is there a way of removing an icon from the desktop?

Remove, but not uninstall from the device?  Where would they go if you did that?
Once you delete an App it gets removed form the homescreen, and deleted from the iPad.
There is no "Less used Apps" area or anything like that.
Everything you have, and you can access, is on the home screen. There is no other place to access Apps.

  • How do I get an app back that I took off my iphone by removing it through my desktop?

I removed the app garage band from my iphone 4 through my pc using itunes 11. I errased it from the large screen in my itunes that represented my iphone.
usually, my apps would show up on the left hand side and I could sort by name and size etc. For some reason, they aren't there anymore. I removed garage band by using the image of my iphone screen on the desktop and just "x"ed it out. It took the app of my iphone with all the songs I had recorded as well, but now I can't find it to put it back on when I want to. Can anyone offer any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Russ

Looks like you do not have any apps in your iTunes. They should show up on the left side of the iPhone screen in iTunes.
    iTunes prefs > General.
    Tick Apps.
Select Apps in the left sidebar under Library.
    Do you see iPhoto there?

  • How do I remove backup files from desktop

I am having difficulty removing backup files that are locked from my desktop that I transfered from a backup external hard drive. It starts to delete but whern it gets to 0 it rewrites the file. this happens evn after I answer "remove all locked files".
    Thank you
    John Roberts

I was able to delete the backup.backup files once I :
    1.  ran disk repair
    2. disconnected the external drive and restarted.
    Also the 1password.backup files
    ( Other discussions helped greatly.)

  • Removing photo album from desktop

I accidentally moved a photo album to my desktop and would like to remove it. How do I do that?

    cindy,
    I got you now..ha
If you want to use a different album in iPhoto, choose another album and then hit the desktop icon.
If you don't want to use any albums in iPhoto for you screen saver,
Open System Preferences, found in your dock or Applications folder.
Click on the Desktop and Screen saver pref pane and choose a different folder of images to use as the desktop and a different screen saver.

  • Removing Shades' Bar from Desktop

I have downloaded and am using the Shades software to reduce the brightness on my iMac screen. (Btw, it works great and I strongly recommend it if your screen is still too bright at the lowest system setting.)
The problem: Shades' small horizontal brightness adjustment bar is still on my desktop. I can move it anywhere, but I don't seem to be able to remove it altogether. And it's really unnecessary, since Shades already has an icon in the Menulet area (upper right).
So: How do I remove the Shades' bar from my desktop?

Thanks, den.thed. That did the trick.
Nero, I did consider that it might be a Shades question, but, as a new Mac person, I also figured it was probably a OS question, so that's why I posted it here. And it turns out it was.

  • Where can i see which user(s) has access to Discoverer Admin or desktop?

    Hello
I am new to a company. Where can i see which employees have access to Discoverer Admin and / or Desktop editions?
So i want to know 2 things:
    1. Who are the discoverer users in the company?
    2. What reports do they have access to?
    thank you
Edited by: iandekoker on Feb 20, 2009 2:46 PM

    Hi,
If the user has Discoverer Administrator/User installed on there PC then they will have access to the tools. They will also need Admin or Desktop access to the Discoverer EUL. You can install the Discoverer V5 Business Area and run the EUL Management workbook to see all the Discoverer users, what privileges they have and which workbooks have been shared to the users/roles. See metalink note 556932.1 for details of how to install this Business area which is shipped with Discoverer Admin.
