Removing drag functionality of column in OBIEE 11g

Hi all,
Can any one say me how to remove the draging functionality for the columns in OBIEE 11g ? It is creating an issue for me when i hide the columns in pivot and has only rows over there. It is creating one more layer on the top of the measures.

Edit the Pivot view and goto Row section -> Row Properties -> Option - Uncheck the Display Heading.
But you'll loose your columns heading of rows.

I have extensively searched using Google or 11g docs but could not find a proper solution to using Peoplesoft trees in form of hierarchial columns in obiee 11g. Can the rpd of obiee 11g be designed to view the Peoplesoft tree structure( as it is in Tree manager in Pplsoft) as hierachial columns in obiee 11g? I am sure hierarchial columns as a 11g feature are not just for visual representation in tree format but also can be viewed in Answers and queried against it,am I right?
Anybody who has worked on trees and OBIEE 11g hierarchial columns? Ahsan/Navin??

I have not used the 11g hierarchical columns for PSoft Trees but I can think of a glaring reason NOT to do this..PERFORMANCE. If I understand correctly, 11g issues a group by and Union as you traverse this type of structure and PeopleSoft trees have a number of tables to represent the actual TREE. I cannot possibly see how this can be effective especially with a large scale BI Apps DW? This is part of the reason the trees get flattened out via the OOTB ETL adaptors for PSoft.

Stop a dimensional drill for a particular value of a column in obiee 11g

Hi,
I have dimensional drill been setup for Supervisor Hierarchy Table.I need to stop the dimensional drill for a particular value of the column in obiee 11g.
Example: I have two columns
1.Supervisor Level 1 Name
2.Supervisor Level 2 Name
Supervisor Level 1 Name Columns have these values.(Ram,Higher,Sam)
Supervisor Level 2 Name Columns have these values.(Ravi,Higher,Raghul).
If we pull Supervisor Level 1 Name Column in report which has a dimensional drill(It will navigate to Supervisor Level 2 Name).It will show
1.Ram
2.Higher
3.Sam
I should not drill on Higher value but the rest of the values(Sam and Ram will drill to Supervisor Level 2 Name) should be drillable.The same should happen for Supervisor Level 2 Name.
Please Suggest.

How to Hide a column in OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I am trying to hide a column of presantation layer table in OBIEE 11g. But it is not working.
I am doing the follwoing.
Open the permission tab of the column.
Given no access to Everyone.
Given No access the user/Application Role.
When i go to web, the column is getting displayed in the table list. But, when i select the column and press the result button, it is not giving the result.
It means, by doing the above steps it is restricting the data but visibility of column is already there.
Same way it works for OBIEE 10g. Could you please let me know this feature has been removed from 11g or if it is still there then how we can achieved that.

It's a bug in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.
Bug 12352010: RESTRICTED COLUMNS SHOULD NOT SHOW IN SUBJECT AREA
It is fixed in the version 11.1.1.6.

Using CASE WHEN for Essbase column in OBIEE 11g

Hi all,
I have a business model in OBIEE 11g, taking the source from Essbase 11. The measures of the Essbase cube in the physical layer is flattened, and the aggregations for the measures are set to SUM.
The Product dimension has 5 generations. In Product logical table, I created a logical column called "Product Grouping" using a simple CASE WHEN formula:
CASE
WHEN "TEST"."Product"."Gen5,Product" IN ('100-10', '100-20', '200-10', '300-10') THEN 'Group 1'
WHEN "TEST"."Product"."Gen5,Product" IN ('100-30', '200-20') THEN 'Group 2'
ELSE 'Group 3'
END
Problems:
1. If I don't place this "Product Grouping" in the logical level/hierarchy, I got error in the report when I simply show Product Grouping and a measure.
2. If I place this "Product Grouping" in the logical level/hierarchy (on the 5th level), no more error in the report when I simply show "Product Grouping" and a measure. The measure value also shows the correct SUM (group by). However, when I add "Gen1,Product" the "Product Grouping" and the measure value suddenly becomes not grouped by.
Has anyone ever tried and encountered something like this? Any thoughts?

Hi Deepak, thansk for the suggestion.
However, I can't use calculated item for this report because:
1. incorrect result will be shown when my measures involve a formula to derive a percentage value.
2. calculated item is not available if we do "combine requests" (or union) in 11g.
Any thoughts anyone on how to solve this? Is this just me, or it's a bug?

Concatenate two columns in Obiee 11g

I am trying to concatenate two columns from same table in OBIEE 11G , i tried all below syntax
cast("Period"."Year" as Varchar)|| cast ("Period"." Month Name" as Varchar)
cast("Period"."Year" as char)|| cast ("Period"." Month Name" as char)
contact(cast("Period"."Year" as char), cast ("Period"." Month Namer" as char))
I am getting this error as - Invalid Alias Format : Table_name.Column_name require . Plz Help me Guys

Column forumal example based on vanilla usage tracking RPD:
cast("Query Time"."Year" as varchar(4)) || "Query Time"."Month"BTW: "Month Name" implies a string already so I doubt you'll need to cast it as one...

Unable to import table or columns in OBIEE 11G RPD

Hi All,
We are unable to import table into the RPD using OCI 10G/11G to import the table then the import box open but we are unable to see the tables below the schema name. When we use ODBC 3.5 and created a DSN for the database then we are able to see all the tables and import them. But the problem here is that when we are using window server 7 64 bit to install client and then importing the table ODBC is not working fine as well.
Please note that we are using OBIEE 11G which is installed on unix box and we connect to RPD using client installed on windows server.

Calculating YTD column in OBIEE 11g

Hi ,
Here is my requirement :
I have to create a report , which shows several measure values (revenue , gross mergin etc as rows of a pivot table) against a certain period (Months , i.e. Jan , Feb ....etc as columns of a pivot table ) . Taking period prompt as presentation variable prompt . For example , If 'Jan' is selected from period dropdown list ,then only Jan values are shown . I am able to do upto this part .
Next , I have to add one YTD column (calculated ) , which will eventually sum the values of upto selected period value , i.e if selected month is 'Mar' then March values will be shown in one column and 'Jan + Feb + Mar ' values will shown in another .
How to achive this ?
FYI , I am taking essbase 11.1.2.0 as datasource and using OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 version .

What is the equivalence of @Aggregate_Aware function in BO in OBIEE 11g?

Hi All,
I have a requirement in my project regarding aggregration function. Actually it deals with convertion of BO Reports to OBIEE Reports. In BO Universe i have function called @Aggregate_Aware the actual syntax of this function is as below:
@Aggregate_Aware(aggregate_table_1......aggregate_table_n)
I need an OBIEE function thats needs to perform the above aggregation calculation. Can anybody please shed light on this issue. Its an urgent requirement.

In short, because it is one of the more complicated things about OBIEE:
In your Business Layer, each fact can have 1 or more LTS. Each LTS has a content tab. In this tab, you can define on which level the fact joins to the joined dimensions and to which dimensions this LTS is joined. The levels are created using dimension hierarchies. These should be set for each dimension.
Each logical column in the fact can belong to 1 or more LTS.
Whenever you create an analysis with a measure from this fact, the OBI Server will check the objects in the queries, look in which level of the dimension hierarchy they reside and compare that to all the LTS of the fact. The best-fit result (ideally, an LTS where the objects used are the lowest level for that dimension) will be used to build the physical query. This way, setting the levels in the LTS give you the ability to control which LTS is used in which scenario.
I am sure you will find plenty of information on this on the web, but it is too large a subject and too complicated to go into in detail here...

Last Year Inovice Total need to be calculated in a new column in OBIEE 11g

I have a measure Net Invoiced Amount, and now my client is asking to get a new column in which last year's Net Invoiced Amount total needs to be calculated.
We need to select the Dates dynamically, it is 2012, so the column should the invoiced amount total for 2011, if it is 2013 then amount should be 2012. Can we do this in RPD. If so, please tell me how.

DATE Column))
Note: create alias table from your fact (call it as fact table name_YTD) Join th aliases to the dimension tables exactly like how your normal fact table is joined to the aliases, except for the time dimension.
Method 2: by using Time series functions (Ago fxn)
Ago(<<Measure>>, <<Level>>, <<Number of Periods>>)
Example:Ago("Human Resources"."Fact - Absence"."# Days" , "Human Resources"."Time"."Year" , 1)
Method 3: if your using obiee11g --> from analysis itself you cand solve it

Pivot Table Row and Column extension OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I have pivot view report, I have 3 columns,
1) User Name
2) Date
3) Login Count
User Name will be row(Vertical)
Date will be Column heading (Horizontal)
Login Count Measures
So I will get login Count of user wrt date.
Now When I give Wide range of filter i.e, from 1st Jan 2010 to 31st Dec 2010.
There is increase in row also column, when it reaches certain extent it gives error as *'Exceeded configured maximum number of allowed input records.'*
How to change the limit? or there is any fix?

I have also faced the same issue, i have solved by changing DefaultRowsDisplayed count in instance config file.
<Views>
<pivot table>
<DefaultRowsDisplayed>75</DefaultRowsDisplayed>
<pivot table>
</Views>
Paste that code (which i mentioned in my last post) in instanceconfig.xml before these tags
</ServerInstance>
</WebConfig>
But remember you need to restart the presentation service once this is done....

Goto Edit formula for that particular column.
and use FILTER(measure_column USING (condition)).
eg:
FILTER("XXXXX"."measure_column" USING ("OBIA"."D5.Times"."Month" =particular_month ))
Try this... This will work fine.

Conditional Formatting of a Direct Database Request Columns in OBIEE 11g

I need to do the conditional formatting like changing the
column color based of some condition, but i can do to the conditional
formatting in the normal answers in the column properties. But i want to do
it in the rows of Direct Database Request.
When i check the Column properties conditinal format is disabled.

I am getting an syntax error when i concatenate two columns from the same table and i think syntax is correct.
below is the column formula:

Can anyone help me with following scenario please?
I have a "Instance" table in the datawarehouse. It has 2 columns A and B.
I brought it all the way to the presentation layer making necessary joins to the Facts.
I created the column as prompt at the dashboard level. Now if the User selects A or B at the prompt level he will be pointed to Amount1 column in the BMM layer.
Now I will have to customize is such a way that,
If the user chooses both A and B options in the prompt the Amount2 has to be referred instead of Amount1 column.
I need help please!
