Removing dragged photos from desktop

I have many photos in "Pictures" that I want to import into iPhoto. I wanted to view those from my desktop and move the ones I didn't want to import to trash prior to importing them. I highlighted a group and dragged them to my desktop. However, they appeared on my desktop stacked rather than individually.
Trying to separate them individually has become tedious and to move all of the group to trash, I am having to do it individually anyway.
Is there a program of way to move the whole group to trash without separating them individually? I would like to clear my desktop more quickly if there is.
Next time, I will import to iPhoto and then move the ones I don't want to trash! Live and learn, hopefully, some of the time anyway!
Thanks for your help.

why can't i drag photos from desktop to iphoto all of a sudden?

    From iPhoto help:
To import photos from a hard disk:
    Do one of the following:
Drag one or more photos or a folder of photos from the Finder to the iPhoto main window.
Drag one or more photos or a folder of photos from the Finder to the iPhoto icon in the dock.
In iPhoto, choose File > “Import to Library.” Then select the photos you want to import and click Import.

  • Dragging photos from desktop to trash suddenly doesn't work.

I have a number of photos on my desktop that I am trying to move to trash.  The notice that is now on my desktop is "Preparing to move to trash".  This preparing message has been there for several days.  I'd appreciate any help.  Thank you.

You may be able to restart the process by going to the Apple logo (top left of your screen) and click on that.   The seventh item down in the drop down panel is Force Quit.   Click on that and in the drop down panel click on trash if it is showing.   You could then try the process again.
You cannot be looking in the right place for the secure empty trash.   You will have Finder in your Dock.
Clicking on that will bring you to a screen with 'Finder' written in the top left hand corner next to your Apple logo.   Clicking on the word, Finder, will produce a drop down panel in which, the third item down is Empty Trash and the fourth item down is Secure Empty Trash.   Click on whichever one you need to use and then on the prompt which will appear.

  • Problem importing photos after the new Photos update:  When I drag photos from my desktop, why don't they don't replace the previously imported photos in "Last Import".

When I drag photos from my desktop to the new Photos icon, they don't replace the previously imported photos in "Last Import".

After several attempts, I now find that this is working for me.  I wasn't able to open the IMPORT folder in Photos until I clicked on "Close" from File Menu. Once I was able to open the IMPORT folder and select the photos for import, the new photos appeared in "Last Import."

  • Dragging photos from iPhoto to the Desktop

    Hi Folks, can anyone help?
When I drag photos from iPhoto to the desktop, a plus sign appears on the dragged image and a copy is created on the desktop. That's fine and that's how it should work.
I have 1 roll (out of some 300) with some 200 photos where this does not work. Currently, I am not in a position to move a copy from that roll in iPhoto to the desktop.
Any idea where the issue is?
    Thanks for your help!

Are you getting an error message that says something to the effect that one of the files are busy? If so this is usually due to the original files sharing the same file title in the Finder. An easy way to get around this is to use the export feature of iPhoto and choose "use album name" It is something like this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iPhoto/6.0/en/hlp215.html Try exporting them to a folder that you create on your desktop. If you use the export feature iPhoto can rename the files so they don't share the same title.

To help get you familiar with how menus and menu commands work, here's how to clean up your desktop using Finder menu commands.
To tidy up your files and folders so that they all line up in nice, neat rows, click on the desktop to make the Finder active.
From the View menu, choose Clean Up.
If you want to organize files and folders by name, kind, or other criteria do this: From the View menu, choose Arrange By, then choose Name or Kind or another choice in the submenu.

In prior verisons of iPhoto (using '08) and Final Cut Pro (using 6.0) I was able to drag photos from iPhoto, and drop them on the timeline and they would appear in the same order as they are shown in iPhoto..now, it looks like it is placing them in so random order...any ideas?

Have you tried to normal way. Highlight the photo in the Trash/Right Click: Put Back.  Or just drag it back into Events.

  • Is it possible to drag photos from CDs to an iPhoto album?

Is it possible to drag photos from CDs to an iPhoto album?  When I try, it creates a new event and also a "sub-album" in the original album.
I am trying to import old photos for my daughter's senior video and senior yearbook page.  I don't want to create a lot of new "events" in iPhoto.

Drag them from the CD to a folder on the Desktop.  Then you can drag that folder into the open iPhoto window onto the Albums title in the left hand pane.  That will create an single Event and album with the same name as the folder. If you don't want the album just drag the folder anywhere into the open iPhoto window except the left hand pane.

  • How do i remove my photo from my Address Book entry?

two questions: first, how do i remove my photo from my entry in Address Book? i should be able to click "Edit", select my photo and hit the Delete key and be done, but no - hitting the Delete key does nothing except make the photo blink.
second, i just posted a comment on a web page that i've never been to before, on a site that i've never been to before, and my photo appeared on the web page next to my comment. very creepy. anybody know why this is and how i make it stop? does it have something to do with my Address Book entry?
update: i've consulted Address Book's help and it tells me to select the card then go Card -> Clear custom image, but when i do, that menu item is grayed out.
further update: i've worked around the problem by taking a screen shot of a blank white area of a webpage and making that my photo...but i shouldn't have to do that and would still like to know how one actually deletes one's photo from Address Book. Address Book's help indicates that i'll find such photos in Library/Images/People, but there's no such directory in any of my Library folders. Address Book's help is not being very helpful today.
    tia...

there is actually no way to completely delete an image for you address book entry. you can only change it to something else as you did.
as for the image on that website, most likely it pulled your photo from your webpage on some site like My Space, Facebook etc. do you have a page like that? some sites will tap directly into your webpage and pull your pic from it.

  • Since the software update my photo from LinkedIn now is attached to all of my text messages and I DO NOT WANT THAT.  How do I remove my photo from my test messages?

Anyone know how to remove your own picture that is now attached to all text messages?  Since the software update (assume KitKat) my LinkedIn photo is now attached to all my text messages and I never set that up, nor can I figure out how to remove it!
How do I remove my photo from my text messages?  Android RazrM.
Help!  It is driving me crazy.  Thank you.

Thanks, but this information was not useful.  First it was outdated (2012 and the software is 2013/2104)  in the Settings/Apps/All section there was no "Text Messaging" icon.  Under "Phone/Messaging" the clear cache was not possible, it was not available, an active option.
VERIZON/GOOGLE -  I am still hoping to learn how to remove my photo from my text messages - why is this so difficult?  Why is something like this added without my permission or at my request?   May be a reason to jump ship to iOS.

  • How can I remove all photos from my iphone?

How can I remove all photos from my iphone?

    Hi pjdemeo,
I understand you want to delete all of the photos from your iPhone.  As a precaution, I would suggest importing the photos and videos from your iPhone into your computer.  This will give you a backup for the images, and after import you will be asked if you want to delete the photos.
Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201302
The iPhone User Guide has instructions for deleting photos directly from the device:
Organize photos and videos - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iphf14943e
Delete a photo or video from Photos. Tap the Photos tab, tap the photo or video, tap , then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. Deleted photos and videos are kept in the Recently Deleted album on iPhone, with a badge showing the remaining days until the item is permanently removed from iPhone. To delete the photo or video permanently before the days expire, tap the item, tap Delete, then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video. If you use iCloud Photo Library beta, deleted photos and videos are permanently removed from all iOS 8.1 devices that use iCloud Photo Library beta with the same Apple ID.

  • How to remove a photo from a LRPublishedCollection without affecting the Publish Service?

    Hello guys!
I would like to know if there is a way to remove a photo from a LRPublishedCollection without affecting the Publish Service. Basically I would like it to be removed from the collection but I don't want to be added to "Deleted Photos to Remove".
    Thanks a lot!
    Jordy.

I don't know how to keep it from being put on the "Deleted Photos to Remove" list at least briefly, but if you do this, it'll amount to the same thing:
    * save status for all photos in collection
    * set status of all photos to "do not publish"
    * remove photo from collection.
    * publish the collection, and make sure you call the deleted callback, but don't do anything else.
    * restore previous photo statuses.
    Only works in Lr4+.

How do I remove a photo from iPad air camera roll taken by the camera?

I took 2-3 hundred pics on my trip with my iPad mini and have downloaded them to iPhoto.  How can I get rid of them on my iPad now...do I have to do it one picture at a time?   When I first downloaded them iTunes asked if I wanted to delete them from my iPad and I foolishly said no.  Am I now forced to do it them one at a time or is there a setting I am missing that will do it?  They are using all of my memory!!
