Removing excess from a title clip

I added a scrolling title clip to my project and used Clip Adjustments to make it 30 seconds, which made the scroll roll at a comfortable pace for readability. The problem is that iMovie added an extra 12 seconds of blank title screen after the last word scrolls off screen. How do I remove the extra time without affecting the scroll speed? Simply dragging the end of the clip shortens it, but it also speeds it up to an unreadable speed. If cropping is the answer, how do I do it? The Help dialog didn't help me. I'm not very adept in the use of iMovie, so please try to help me in simple language!

How can I compensate for what a transition takes from a title clip?

I'm putting together, in iMovie 4, a slideshow, consisting entirely of clips from the Photo Pane. I imported my clips to the Viewer, then added cross-dissolve transitions, except where I wanted to create a title. Some clips have the Ken Burns Effect.
Here's the problem: after I add a title clip, then add transitions in front & back of it, the title clip's duration reduces. With the title highlighted, I go back into the Title Pane and increase its duration, but the transition bleeds off the increase, as it re-renders, every time. There's no problem updating a photo clip between two dissolves.
The cross-dissolves are about 1:20 in duration. I want my title clips to be about 2:10 or so. There's also the problem with title clips that their total duration is a combination of speed and pause. So adjusting their duration is complicated, once I get the total duration I want, but then have to try compensating for what the transition will take away.
Has anyone solved this problem for themselves, & if so, what do they suggest?

What if you put a photo down for a set duration, and
then put the same photo down back to back with the
first one, and use the second one to make the
transition with? Then of course, use a "transition"
photo for the next clip, and then back to back with
it, with a secondary clip of the same photo to last
the desired duration before you go on to the next
clip, with a third but same photo dedicated to make
the transition with? And so on...
Your suggestion has helped me in other ways by introducing me to the concept of adding clips to solve problems. I won't get into the details. Lennart, some time ago, suggested the same thing in another context, which worked, but I didn't transfer that knowledge, until now. Thanks.

Removing Geotag from iMovie Title

How do you remove the geotag from the iMovie title? I want to use a photo that does not have an accurate geotag as the first item in my movie. I can't edit the geotag in the title and I can't find the setting to remove the geotag from my title. I have tried to change the geotag in iPhoto to an accurate location but that does not appear to work. I am using iMovie 10 and iPhoto 9. The geotag says South Atlantic Ocean when, in actuality, it's Durango, Co. VERY annoying. Any ideas?

I had the same problem. Click on the title in your timeline. Then click on the T in the picture viewer area. Underneath the toolbar a little world icon will appear. Click on this and it will give you the option of where to set the geotag title (including none).

Remove '(SECURED)' from PDF title

I am creating secured pdf files (so to speak--they don't seem all that secure, really) but I don't want the word '(SECURED)' in the document title. It used not to be there. Can I remove it?

Unfortunately, when it comes to enforcing the permissions it's up to the viewing application. You might have noticed that when you apply a Permissions Password a dialog is displayed that notes that although all Adobe products enforce the permissions, that not all third party products respect these settings.
However, when it comes to the Document Open Password, if you don't have that password you can't open the document. There are programs that perform dictionary attacks that will try every word in the dictionary to open the file, and if they hit upon the right one the file will open, but if you use a sufficiently strong password the file is pretty secure. It's once that the file is open that you are at the mercy of the viewing app.

Can anyone help me figure why there is a popping sound when I move from an iphoto still image to a new video clip? The sound has been removed from the video clips and there is another soundtrack underneath it all. Help?

My current project is like many I have created in the past. I have removed the sound from my video clips and laid another soundtrack under the entire project. Now, when I add an iphoto still image to the project, when it goes back into video there is a popping sound. I've never had this happen in the past and have made many projects in the past just like this one. Any way to troubleshoot this issue? Thanks so much for your help.

Need to Remove the tabs group Title from browser window title

When I use a saved tab group, which means I named that tab group in FF 5,''' the name of the tab group appears at the top of the browser along with the title of the web page I am viewing'''. Not good, I need to remove that tab group title from the browser window title, so I am only seeing the title of the webpage, and nothing from the tab group. How do I do that?

First you must drag the clips to a project. The event clips will always have the original audio.
In the project, select one of the clips and open the inspector to the Audio tab. Set the volume slider to zero.
You can repeat this for all the clips, or here is a shortcut.
Do the first one, then with it still selected, click EDIT/COPY, then EDIT/SELECT ALL, then EDIT/PASTE ADJUSTMENTS.../AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS.

As a music teacher I want to remove the music from a video clip but not the speech so that my students can compose their own music to accompany the clip. Is there any way I can do this in iMovie?

You are describing to scarce. Is music and speech separated in time or do they over-lap ?
• If separated - Yes audio can be muted
• If over-lap - No Music and Speech is airborne wave or air compressions in time. So they are of the same nature and a program that would be able to differentiate them would be a NASA-project and most probably beyond. (most probably in need of Field-Vector-Analysis - and big big big Computer)
What You have is
• Silence parts that is not speech - better done in an Audio-editor as Audacity (free on internet) then using Equalizer filter to decrease frequencies not dominated in the speech. And that's about the best one can do.
In TV-broadcasting one more often silence all audio and Speech Dubbed. Tedious but best possibly result.
Anecdotal - In Sweden 1950-1960 there was a Composer/Music master Sten Broman who wanted an Accordion-filter on his Radio. To be told in any program he appeared in.

How can I remove something from my iTunes download list permanently?

Same as title: how can I remove something from my download list FOREVA! Why would I want to do this? Because it's a piece of poo free sampler from Best Buy that is effing huge, and terrible and I don't want it, ever (it's been stuck to my list since 08, and it must die). Every time I buy something I have to remember to go and remove that from my list, otherwise iTunes gets caught up downloading that thing, which is many times larger than any video/cd/app that I have ever downloaded on iTunes before. It wouldn't be as much an issue if I had a good ISP but I don't, so any non-apple employee people giving some smarmy "get better internets" advice need not apply.

Once an item enters the download queue, the user cannot remove it. Either let it complete the download (easiest) or contact the iTunes Store customer support department through the Contact page and ask them if they'll remove the item(s) from your queue for you.

That error message is misleading. Your problem is excessive swapping of data between physical memory and virtual memory.
That can happen for two reasons:
You have a long-running process with a memory leak (i.e., a bug), or
You don't have enough memory installed for your usage pattern.
Tracking down a memory leak can be difficult, and it may come down to a process of elimination.
In the Activity Monitor application, select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected. Click the heading of the Real Mem column in the process table twice to sort the table with the highest value at the top. If you don't see that column, select
View ▹ Columns ▹ Real Memory
from the menu bar.
If one process (excluding "kernel_task") is using much more memory than all the others, that could be an indication of a leak. A better indication would be a process that continually grabs more and more real memory over time without ever releasing it. Here is an example of how it's done.
The process named "Safari Web Content" renders web pages for Safari and other applications. It uses a lot of memory and may leak if certain Safari extensions or third-party web plugins are installed. Consider it a prime suspect.
If you don't have an obvious memory leak, your options are to install more memory (if possible) or to run fewer programs simultaneously.
The next suggestion is only for users familiar with the shell. For a more precise, but potentially misleading, test, run the following command:
sudo leaks -nocontext -nostacks process | grep total

I want to remove volumes from 'Import' - 'Select a source' list

Hi all,
First, I'm using the new Lightroom v4.1 on a Windows 7 x64 system.
As the title to my question suggests, I'm trying (without success) to remove volumes from the list that's shown when a user clicks on the 'Import' button (lower left of screen) and 'Select a source' which, naturally, shows all the drives in my system.
There are five volumes; four internal and one external.
There are only two drives which contain photos that I'm interestered in importing/editing.
The other drives contain files that I have no interest in editing or organizing.
For example, several hundred (scanned and collected) very old family photos that I wish to keep pristine, with no editing of any kind. As for placing them in collections, I already have them in dated, carefully named folders.
So, as this is a shared computer, I want to remove the volumes (drives) so that the aforementioned photos can't be inadvertantly imported.
Can someone please point me in the right direction how to do this?

There is nothing within Lightroom that will cause it to ignore a specific drive permanently. You'd have to go above Lightroom to the system level to prevent Lightroom from seeing the drive. Not sure how to do that, but it's probably possible.

TypeError: Error #1006 - Removing MovieClip from the stage

I have a movie clip that is called to the stage and once the movieclip is finished it calls a function that removes it from the stage. The code works but I get an error message about 4 seconds after the movie clip ends.
