Removing font shadow on pie charts in Numbers '09

Help!! how do I remove the font shadow on my pie charts? It seems to be a standard feature but my reports are all blurred, how can I make the pie chart labels have a nice crisp font?
Thanks.

True Genius!
I'll tell my local Apple store how to do this next week! Couldn't find the controls you suggested on the text inspector until by chance I pulled it out to a bigger display window but now solved, superb!!
Thanks, big time.

  • Problems pasting pie chart from Numbers into Pages table

    Hello,
    I'm trying to paste a pie chart from Numbers into a table cell in Pages 09 but it doesn't allow me. Would you know why?
    Thanks,
    Pedro

    Probably because it is a smart object connected back to the Numbers document.
    If you want it purely as a graphic, try copying the chart in Numbers switching to Preview.app and going command n which will make it a pdf file, then copy that and paste that into Pages. But it will no longer be a live chart.

  • How to get rid of label shadows in Pie Chart?

    Hi and thanks for reading.
    Every time I create a pie-chart in Numbers08, there is a shadow around values and series labels. I looked in Text, Font, and inspector palletes but could not get rid of the shadow/glow around the fonts.
    Any suggestions on how to disable it? this shadow is ruining my whole report.
    This happens only in pie-chart, for some reason. If I change the chart to, say, bar chart, the shadow disappears, but switching to pie brings back the shadow.

    Ashka, thanks for reply, unfortunately it didn't help. I do not have "shadow" option ticked anywhere. If I do tick the shadow, an additional shadow also appears, so this shadow is somehow built into the pie-chart by default. No matter what font of color I pick that shadow is there.

  • Making pie chart in numbers for ipad

    Hello
    I am just getting started with numbers on my ipad.  I have 4 columns of data, the first is an ID number column and the other three are checkboxes.  I would like to make a pie chart that show's the percentage of rows that have each of the three checkbox columns checked.  I am highlighting all three columns to be included in the chart and they all show up in the legend at the top of the chart, but the pie itself is just the color of the first column with 100% in the middle.  The data show that 5/10 boxes are checked in column A, 6/10 in column B and 4/10 in column C.  Not sure what I'm doing wrong....

    BAS,
    A pie chart can only handle one column of labels and one column of values. You will have to summarize your data in a table that has one column of labels and one column of values if you want to make a pie chart of it.
    Think about what a pie chart is. You have pieces of a pie and labels. How would you display any more data series in that context?

  • Remove dropshadow filter from pie chart?

    Hey all,
    I would like to remove the default dropshadow filter from the default mx pie chart. I tried to set the pie chart's filters property to an empty array.  I also tried to set the 'series filters' prop to an empty array, but have no luck?? I tried searching through the documentation, but didn't find much info on this. Anyone know how to do this? Here's what i've tried.
    with AS,
    myPieChart.filters = new Array();
    myPieChart.seriesFilters = new Array();
    and, inline
    1)  <mx:PieChart filters="[]" ...>
    2) <mx:seriesFilters><fx:Array /></mx:seriesFilters>
    BTW, using Flash Builder 4

    Have you tried setting filters = null?

  • How do I remove drop shadows from the default text in the labels of a Numbers pie chart?

    I set up a pie chart in Numbers and set labels for percentage.  The default text has drop shadowss.  They do print well at the scale needed for the page.  I cannot find out how to remove these shadows for clearer printing.  Can the shadows be removed?

    Nevermind.  Found the answer in nthe side bar under "Re:how can I print the figures (text) in a chart WITHOUT a cast shadow.  I had the Font window set too narrow and it did not show the Text Shadow button in the tool bar.  Unclicking that worked.

    I cannot figure out how to remove the drop shadow on the font in pie charts. It looks ok if I have the font remain in white, but if I change the font to black, it looks really fuzzy.
    No, the shadow box is not checked.
    Yes, I have checked out the text inspector, and there is nothing there that is helpful.
    This is driving me crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Bingo
    I found a workaround.
    It requires a bit of surgery.
    At this time, it must be done on the index.xml embedded in the document.
    If you open it (I did that with the free TextWrangler.

    It would be a good idea to change the labels color before doing that because when the shadows are removed, it's not easy to see the white labels.
    Now, it's time to switch off and go to sleep but tomorrow, I will try to find the file defining this descriptor.
    Maybe it's the template, maybe it's a generic resource.
    I will try to edit this resource.
    If it's in the template, The workaround will be to create a custom template with no shadow on pie labels.

  • How to enable the shadow option in my 3D pie chart?

    I am using Numbers 09 and have created a pie chart.  I see that the 3D pie chart has a dark black shadow on it and I want to be able to change that color of the shadow. When I click on the both the full chart or just a slice of the pie chart the "Shadow" bar is greyed out on both the Graphic inspector AND the Chart inspector window.  Can I do this? If so, how?
    Thank you for you help in advance..

    I do not believe this is possible in Numbers 2.x (the previous version of Numbers)
    One work around is to place a circle with a shadow behind the pie chart:

  • Crystal Reports Pie Chart showing Sum 100% in Legend.  How to remove?

    I have a Pie chart which displays correctly but in the Legend is displayed the values with the correct percentages AND  the Sum showing 100%.
    I need to either remove the Sum line or be able to change the text from the report since I have to produce the report in 4 languages and the Sum always shows up in the language of the server.
    the legend looks something like;
    value1  25%
    value2  25%
    value3  75%
    Sum     100%   <------  this line must go or be changed  (e.g. in Italian as Totale)
    Running a server for each language is not an option
    There are a variable number of values so I cannot overlay a rectangle on a fixed position.  (awfull solution)
    Is there any way I can simply turn off the Summ (not the whole legend which is needed)?
    any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I am using Crystal Reports 2008
    Best Regards
    Chris Ryder

    Well  Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
    The client is very specific about the look and feel so I cannot change to not using a legend.  However,  the discussions serves to confirm that it is NOT possible which is actually just as useful.
    In Conclusion
    To restate the problem  the client has a report which can be displayed in one of four languages by choice from the end user.  The report contains a pie chart which displays the various segment names and percentages as a legend.  At the bottom of this legend appears automaticaly the word Summ in the langauge of the the 'Server Locale' (in our case german Summe) and the 100% value.
    I wished to know if it was possible to either change the language of this word (without changing the server as I do not have access) or to remove it altogether.
    The answer is NO it is not possible to remove only this word or to change it in anyway.
    Our final workaround is;
    we hide the Legend on the graph and build it as a seperate entity next to the graph.  Not ideal as everything is then done twice and we have an indirect link between the segment colours and the legend colours which is not apparent directly in the report.  But at least the client has signed off on the report.
    once again thank you for taking the time to think about the problem.

  • Pie chart bug in Numbers 3.0 on OS X?

    When I select a range and try to make a pie chart, the pie chart always shows 100% full for the first item, and completely ignores the other items to be included in the chart.
    I tried to do a 95% / 5% pie chart and no matter what I do, the pie chart only comes out as 100% full.

    Hi Rafagon,
    Try clicking the chart, then the blue 'Edit Data References' box, then in the lower left of your screen, change Plot Rows as Series to Plot Columns as Series, or vice versa.

    (That's a trick Ian taught me in the old Numbers, where the rows/columns switcher was in a different position.)

  • Pie chart drop shadows not printing properly.. cuts off right hand side of pie chart...???

    Every time I go to print a pie chart that has a drop shadow applied to it, it cuts off the right hand side of the chart along with the shadow itself.  It looks HORRIBLE!!!  I went through and created a bunch of reports using that method, and now ALL of them have this problem.  It makes ZERO sense to me, and it appears that nobody else is experiencing this.  Does anybody have any ideas?

  • Formatted numbers in pie chart

    Hello
    I'm displaying a pie chart graph and the numbers in it are not formatted (eg 345234534 without any commas).
    I want to display numbers in a formatted way (0,000.00) in a pie chart, but if I use the NSTR function the number become a string and I can't use that number.
    How can I do this ?
    Bye
    Omer

    Hey Pramod,
    I really wanted your answer to work, but it doesn't. The NVAL function convert the String Type to a number type ( ==> the graph accept the type), but it also deletes the commas.
    Have you tried it yourself ?

  • Creating a pie chart based on Pop-up Menu in Numbers

    I would like to be able to select a persons name from the Pop-up menu in the F column to chose who has bought an item. I would then like to create a pie chart showing how much money each person has spent on buying the items and have this update automatically. I have no idea how I would go about doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    1) make sure the pop-up has all the people in the list before you start.
    2) eter the data in the table as you have shown then
    3) add a new summary table (called "Summary").  Let's assume your existing table  is titled "LOUNGE".
    Add a new column (G) to your existing table, titled "Lounge":
    G2=IF(ISBLANK(F2), "",IF(IFERROR(MATCH(F2, $F$1:F1, 0), 0)=0, MAX($G$1:G1)+1, ""))
    select G2 and fill down as needed
    Now make a new table (and call it "Summary"):
    the first row and first column are headers.
    A2=IF(ROW()-1<=MAX(Lounge :: G), OFFSET(Lounge :: $F$2, SMALL(Lounge :: G, ROW()-1)-1, 0, 1, 1), "")
    select A2 and fill down as needed
    B2=IF(LEN(A2)>0, SUMIF(Lounge :: F, "="&A2, Lounge :: D), "")
    select B2 and fill down as needed
    now select the cells B2 thu the end of the column then select the pie chart from the charts menu
