Removing Fonts added by Elements 11

When I installed Photoshop Elements 11 it has added many extra fonts into the Windows/Fonts directory.  I try to keep my Fonts directory mean and lean.  Just the Windows System and essential plus any regular fonts that I use.  I find lots of applications if you are not careful loving stuffing their fonts into the Windows Fonts directory.  I notice that most of the Adobe fonts that have been added are short cuts to directories on the Elements application directory.  But some look as if they are essential or required fonts for Elements itself.   Does anyone know how I can clean this up?  Is there a list of the essential fonts?  Or will I have to delete them carefully one by one.  I really don't want over 380 fonts!  So I would appreciate any help.  (I have a set of my fonts in a seperate directory so I can easily re-install the personal fonts I use that are not standard such as Bookman Old Style etc....)  Many thanks in anticipatioin.

It realise that the number of fonts these days may not slow up Windows.  But I just find it tedious when selecting a font say in Word etc... having to trawl though hundreds of fonts that I will probably never need.  So many applications like Elements add extra fonts into the Fonts directory.   I have found a program called FontFrenzy that cleans up the Font directory of Windows removing all but the essential fonts.  It also saves the font selections so you can restore.  So I clean up the Font directory of everything that I don't want and probably will never use.  In a folder I have all the fonts that I want that are not part of Windows etc... Such as Bookman Old Style etc... I then add these back in.  Hey presto a clean Font directory.  And a much smaller list of fonts to have to trawl through.

  • FontBook corrupted ? adding back Fonts (Removed), Fonts Disabled

    Hi everyone,
    similar to many other people i got some of my fonts screw up after MS Office installation.
    I tried to restore default fonts in FontBook, but it claimed that some fonts are missing.
    There are no fonts in my ~/Library folders: Fonts, Fonts (Removed), Fonts Disabled.
    However, there some in /Library: Fonts (Removed), Fonts Disabled which I would like to bring back.
    So the question is - how to do it?
    In /Library/Fonts Disabled   i see Arial, Timew New Roman, Verdana, Wingdings. I guess all of them were disabled by MS installation
    and then replaced by MS versions.
    My FontBook however does not show me those (e.g. I see no Times New Roman at all, so I can't re-enable it).
    I suppose FontBook database is corrupted, so I should restart with Shift in safe mode and then FontBook should be fine, right?
    What do I do with /Library/Fonts (Removed)  to bring in back in a propper way? Will FontBook also be able to see those and propose their restoration?
    I would appreciate if someone could say with confidence what to do step by step to add Fonts (Removed) and Fonts Disabled back in use. I don't have a TimeMachine running (yet, plan to do it soon), and I use Mac for work, so i would prefare to minimize risks of messing the whole thing up myself
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Denis.

    My 2¢
    Goto Versiontracker.com and download "Linotype FontExplorer X"
    Move your Font Book preferences from your (Library/Preferences) folder and then make an archive of Font Book (Control-click, create archive in the Finder)
    Delete the original.
    Now, install/launch FontExplorer X.
    There is an option to clean font caches during install - do that and your Mac will reboot.
    Now, there is an option under the tools menu in FontExplorer X that sets your system font folders back to defaults - do that.
    You should be good to go. FontExplorer X is free and an excellent font manager.
    If you have any questions, post back.

  • Adding new element to BPEL for use in PL SQL type, has binding errors

    Figured I might as well post this here since I haven't gotten a single reply in 3 days anywhere else :/
    I have a BPEL service that calls a PL SQL procedure. I have added a new element to the BPEL called quote_cart_line.
    All I had to the BPEL to accomplish this was edit 3 files -
    Async_Invoke_Import_Model.xsd (Source)
    <element name="orig_sys_line_ref" type="integer" minOccurs="1" nillable="true"/>
           <element name="quote_cart_line" minOccurs="1" nillable="true" type="integer"/>
          </sequence>
    .....APPS_NI_MODEL_IMPORT_UTIL_IMPORT_SELECTIONS.xsd (Target)
    <element name="ORIG_SYS_LINE_REF" type="decimal" db:type="NUMBER" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
             <element name="QUOTE_CART_LINE" type="decimal" db:type="NUMBER" minOccurs="0" nillable="true"/>
          </sequence>
    .....Transform_NIE_Inputs.xsl (Transforming from Source to Target)
    <ns1:orig_sys_line_ref>
              <xsl:value-of select="/ns1:Async_Invoke_Import_ModelProcessRequest/ns1:import_line/ns1:orig_sys_line_ref"/>
            </ns1:orig_sys_line_ref>

            </ns1:quote_cart_line>
          </ns1:import_line>
    .....I have done this to two other BPELs and they work fine. (1st BPEL calls the second BPEL passing this new element, which then passes it to this BPEL I am having trouble with, which then should be binding it to a PL SQL type)
    So this BPEL calls a PL SQL procedure, binding the elements from the BPEL to a PL SQL type (ni_model_import_line). So I edited the PL SQL type to accept this new parameter:
    orig_sys_header_ref       NUMBER,
           quote_cart_line           NUMBER,
           CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION ni_model_import_line(p_part_number                IN VARCHAR2,

    BEGIN
       quote_cart_line := p_quote_cart_line;
    END add_quote_cart_line;
    END;
    .....I invoke all of this, and the new element gets populated in 3 different BPELs, including this one I explained here. But when it comes time to call the PL SQL I am now getting an error:

  • Everytime i open Mozilla Firefox appears several messages saying that there were errors on adding toolbar element or menu element.How can i get rid of this?

    I changed my operative system in my computer to windows 7 and add several plugins to my mozilla firefox, and after that i couldn´t find the plus signal to open a new page in a new tab.So, everytime i opened a new page it oppened a new firefox window, and this was very boring.So, i tryed to open mozila in safe mode and tryed to add some extras and i think it was because of this that i started to have several boxes from java script application opening and telling about several errors everytime i open a new window in mozilla.The errors are the following:
    "error on adding toolbar element:NS_error Unexected, component returned failure code:0x8000fff (NS_Error_Unexpected)...id:places-New Place
    or:id:Plus-Circles
    or:id:Plus-Profile

    or:id:Web fonts
    error on adding menu element:NS_Error_Unexpected, component returned failure code:0x8000fff(NS_Error_unexpected) id:Places-New Place
    id:Plus-Circles
    id:Plus-Profile
    id:Wallet
    id:Web fonts
    id:"
    The problem now is that despite the errors appears all the time i open firefox, the good thing is that the plus signal now appears and i can open a new page in a new tab but that page opens at the same time in a new window!!! I mean the page appears in a new tab and in a new window and the errors are appearing all the time i open mozilla!What can i do to get rid of this???

  • Font Book won't remove font files

    I've been doing some testing with Font Book in hopes to replace Suitcase for font management. I've been testing on OS X 10.4.5 with Font Book 2.0.2.
    I have FB prefs setup with User as the default install location. Getting fonts installed works fine. To simplify for testing I'm just using one source folder with one family of fonts in it. So I drag the source folder into the FB window where I have created a collection called Temp.
    The font files are copied into ~/Library/Fonts, just as they should be, and are now available to the system. When I select the font family in FB and choose Remove Font, it disappears from FB, however the font files remain in ~/Library/Fonts.
    According to all documentation I've read, that is not the expected behavior. When Remove Fonts is used within FB, the font files should be moved to the trash.
    In addition, since the font files are being left in ~/Library/Fonts, if I try to add the same source folder back into FB, nothing happens, they just simply do not load. If I manually remove the lingering fonts from ~/Library/Fonts I am then able to add the source folder again.
    So it appears that FB is not functioning as advertised. I've confirmed this on two separate machines running 10.4.5 and also with one running 10.3.9.
    Any ideas what's up or am I missing something here?

    "When I select the font family in FB and choose Remove Font, it disappears from FB, however the font files remain in ~/Library/Fonts.
    Where are you selecting the font, from within the "All Fonts" collection, or within the "Temp" collection? If you've selected it from within your Temp collection, "Remove" only removes the font from the collection, not from your installed fonts. To remove the fonts from your installed fonts, you need to select them from within the All Fonts collection.
    I think what you might want to do rather than create a collection is to create an actual "Temporary" font library. In Font Book, select the All Fonts collection so that the focus is in the leftmost column and choose "New Library" from the action menu. Name it "Temporary" (or whatever else you'd like) and then hit enter. Notice it's listed above the dividing line which separates libraries on the top with collections on the bottom. Now, drag your folder of fonts from the Finder onto the "Temporary" library icon in Font Book. NOTE: A reference to the fonts will be added to Font Book; the fonts themselves are not copied but remain where they are in the Finder and are activated or deactivated from there. Now, whether you select the fonts from within the All Fonts library or the Temporary library, the "Remove" command will remove the fonts from Font Book. (Since the fonts remained in their original location, when they're removed from Font Book they're not moved to the Trash; rather, the reference to them is simply removed from Font Book).
    Hope this helps....

  • NewElementInHierarchy() - Adding New Elements, progressively takes longer when adding multiple siblings

    With my ESTK script, users select model numbers from a list and then the script inserts an element with a model number entered into an attribute, one element for each model selected.
    When adding a large number of elements, each additional sibling element takes a little longer to add then the previous element. Adding 250 elements can take upwards of 3-1/2 minutes or more. While adding 20, 50, or 75 elements happens quickly, without any noticeable duration. It’s somewhere above 110 is where it starts to be noticeable.
    I even used $.hiresTimer and wrote the value to the console for each time a model was added. Since the timer is reset back to zero (0) each time it's called, it was easier to notice that the amount it incremented from one element to the next got progressively larger.
    Any thoughts as to why it’s taking so long or thoughts on what I could do to speed it up?
    The structure looks like this:
    <PartModels>
          <NoteText>Text</NoteText>
          <Model ModelNumber=”ABC01”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”ABC02”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”DEF03”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”DEF04”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”XYZ01-A”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”XYZ*B”/>
          <Model ModelNumber=”XYZ500”/>
    </PartModels>
    The script is somewhat straight forward: cycle through an array of the model numbers selected, add a new element for each model number and set it's attribute value to the model number. This is the short version:
    Function InsertModelElements (modelsToIns, insElemLoc, GVdoc) {
         var newEleId;
         var newElemLoc = insElemLoc;
         var elemDef = GVdoc.GetNamedElementDef(“Model”);
         for(var i = 0; i < modelsToIns.length; i++){ // modelsToIns is the array of models selected
              newEleId = elemDef.NewElementInHierarchy(newElemLoc); //ElementLoc based on NoteText first, last, or not present
              SetAttribute(newEleId, "ModelNumber", null, modelsToIns[i]); //more robust function to set attribute
              /*Which also works for setting attribute*/
              //var vattributes = newEleId.GetAttributes();
              //vattributes[0].values[0] = modelsToIns[i];
              //newEleId.Attributes = vattributes;
              /*At one point I tried using a new element location from the last inserted element, no change*/
              //var newElemRange = setElementSelection(GV_doc, EleId); //function that returns range
              //newElemLoc = newNewElemRange.end;
    Any help is appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Trent

    Thanks Russ,
    I seriously considered trying copy/paste and started to modify the code to do so. But I couldn't let it go, the answer had to be right there in front of me, just it's been too long since I've worked with this stuff, I'm not able to see it. Then it dawned on me what is happening.
    In an earlier test, I placed a timer on each action that is looped through. For example, I start with an container element that has 200 children elements, each with a specific/unique model number attribute. All 200 existing elements are deleted and then replaced with 250 new elements with a different value for the model number attribute. The timer was placed after the Element.Delete() method and ElementDef.NewElementInHierarchy() method. What I noticed with the timer is that each element deleted was deleted faster than the previous element (so it progressively took less and less time to delete an element). And of course the opposite was noticed for inserting elements, each element inserted took longer than the previous element inserted.
    These elements can be inserted in two areas of the structure, one of the areas has fewer format rules that impact the formatting and is actually a little quicker. This led me to the cause being the EDD format rules. The area that takes longer has quite a few extensive format rules that apply. Every time an element is inserted or deleted, FrameMaker runs through those rules to format the content of the elements. Since the rules apply to parent, first, last, next, previous, etc., FrameMaker has to apply format rules to all the elements in the structure that the rules apply to (which are extremely complex because of the various elements, attribute values, and combinations that can be inserted).
    Removing or thinning down the FormatRules in the EDD, it does get quicker. But each of the FormatRules are needed. So using app.ApplyFormatRules = false; right before the elements are deleted and inserted works great. But the key is to set ApplyFormatRules back to true before deleting the last element to be deleted and before inserting the last element to be inserted, so it will cycle through all the format rules of the EDD for all the elements in the hierarchy those format rules apply to. Setting ApplyFormatRules to true and assigning the ElementDef to the last element also works [EleId.ElementDef = GV_doc.GetNamedElementDef(insElemType);], but only before any other functions are performed or different elements are added.
    doc.Reformat() isn't going to reformat the content correctly after the fact because the element was created without the format rules, so it just reformats the content of the elements without the format rules.
    The FDK version that was created 10 years ago had the same problem of running slow when a large number of elements were being inserted, but was still an improvement over having to manually insert each element and type in the attribute value, so it was lived with.
    It's now working amazingly fast. I hope my explanation of what I think is happening, including the cause/solution, is understandable.
    Sincerely,
    Trent Schwartz

  • Adding cost element to a particular hierarchy in RSH1 leads to shortdump.

    Hi,
    I'm facing some issue in production for TCode-RSH1.
    Adding cost element to a particular hierarchy in RSH1 leads to shortdump. (Assign_Type_Illegal_Cast). This problem is causing for some hierarchies only.
    Steps followed by us for adding cost element:-
    1) RSH1-select hierarchy name.
    2) In change mode, select a paticular node, click on cost element.
    3) Select any of the cost element & click the green button (tick)
    When we are following the above steps, it is leading to short dump and giving the following error message:-
    Assign_Type_Illegal_Cast.
    This issue is causing for some hierarchies & not for all.
    Request to suggest the solution..
    Regards,
    SDN User.

    Hi Venkat,
    That particular hierarchy is not having multiple nodes. Only one node named Rate & efficiency. and the user needs to add cost element to that node. Now how come your ans match here in this case.
    Now is that you are telling that one cost element which is selected is there for that node in some other hierarchy?But it is a different hierarchy , so if it is then it would be a problem?
    Or else I have one more doubt....
    Is that the user might be having some authorization problem for that particular hierarchy or the info object or cube where the hierarchy is? Because he is saying that he is having this problem for some few only not all hierarchies. So its understandable that RSH1 authorization to edit and create he has.

  • Removal of af:form element

    Hi all,
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0
    We're in the process of implementing a credit card processing page that will be performing a cross domain form action via jQuery or some other means. One of our primary requirements is to guarantee that form data on this page is not submitted to our server but we would like ADF to render the page to maintain a consistent look and feel for the site.
    Would dropping the af:form element be an effective means of guaranteeing form data is not sent to our WLS server (via post, ajax, server side validation)? Any pitfalls?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    removing the af:form element will not generate the HTML form element and this not submit anything to the server. So yes, this would work.

  • How to remove only the last element of spreadsheet string

    I use path to string option to store image path into database and while retrieving the string is again converted into path but it gives out an error as the output of array to spreadsheet string gives out a tab at the end which is unable for the IMAQ read file to recognise.but when i use the path of the image directly into IMAQ readfile the image is opened . so how to remove the tab only at the end of output of the spreadsheet string(whose length can vary)? I have also attached my program with this.

    If you just want to remove the last character of a string just use the
    String Size function reduce the result by one and wire it together with
    the string to the Split String function.

    Hello,
    I recommend you contact AT&T's dedicated BB Support staff (call their front line, request escalation to BB Support) and have them check to be sure that your account with them is correctly configured for this device. Sometimes when switching devices things don't fully automatically move behind the scenes, and only they (ATT) can validate that.

  • Is Acrobat Pro required in order to be able to REMOVE fonts?

    I need to remove fonts from files I am receiving from clients overseas in order to be able to upload the files to U.S. Patent Office for filing.  (The PTO job options file embeds referenced-but-non-embedded fonts, but certain Japanese fonts that are referenced in the source file won't embed, and that is preventing the upload.) I have Acrobat 9, Standard.  I was looking at tutorials on-line for guidance as to how to strip such fonts, but don't seem to find the various menu items that are referenced in the tutorials.  Do I need Acrobat PRO to do such editing?
    Thanks

    If possible the task would require use of a Preflight. Preflights are only available with Acrobat Pro.
    A quick look through the available Fixups Preflight choices does not show a "remove fonts".
    A note re: embedding fonts.
    Acrobat Pro (starting with Acrobat Pro 9.x) provides a Fixup to "Embed Fonts" and a "Embed fonts (even if text is invisible)".
    As with any routine processes an existing PDF to embed fonts the following applies (text is that present with the "Embed fonts" Fixup):
    "If a PDF uses fonts which are not embedded into the PDF file they are embedded as subsets using this fixup.
    It is required that the respective fonts are available to the OS, either in the system folder or activated via a font manager.
    Some fonts may have a flag that their license does not allow embedding. In this case the fonts are not embedded into the PDF."
    If you had Acrobat Pro and the Japanese fonts installed on your local machine you could embed them (provided the font license permits this).
    Alternatively, you client could use process the content into PDF such that the PDF had all fonts embedded and then sent that PDF to you.
    Or, the client uses the Acrobat Pro Preflight Fixup to embed the Japanese fonts in issue (this presumes the fonts are installed and available on their local machine).
    Be well...

  • Removing the dummy root element

    Looks like I created a topic that cannot
    be replied to! The topic maintainers will
    have to delete it.
    After looking at the XMLSample code I realized my mistake... oops!
    A quick edit turned off the <root>
    containment. Not sure why it's there in
    the sample in the first place.
    For anyone else who tries this, here's the
    change to remove the dummy root element:
    The new code in XMLSample.java is:
    out.appendChild(result);
    instead of:
    // create a dummy document element for the
    // output document
    Element root = out.createElement("root");
    out.appendChild(root);
    // append the transformed tree to the dummy
    // document element
    root.appendChild(result);
    null

    Hi,
    Please try deleting the xml files corresponding to the dimensions from the backend and try opening the dimension member sheet.
    For deleting the XML file follow the workaround in my reply of the below thread,
    Re: Master data issue in CV
    Hope this helps,
