REMOVING HAMACHI FROM OSX LION
my brother installed this hamachi game on my brand new macbook air. I think i deleted all the files but I cant get rid of this hamachi menu bar item that sits right next to the wifi bar... any suggestions? I want to rid my computer from all the infectious **** hamachi puts on your computer. sorry about my tone, i'm ****** off and have tryed googling this issue and cannot find much on it. any help is appreciated,

Permanent solution found to remove menu bar icon, 1. Start Activity Monitor, Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor 2. Find the process name "LogMeIn Menu Bar". 3. Click the "Quit Process" button. 4. Empty Trash. Done. I had the same problem, it was driving me crazy too haha

How can I use LDAP searching from OSX Lion Server to Mozilla Thunderbird? We have a super awesome contacts server that works great for our Mac users. About 30% of our company are on PCs, and I would like to use the Mozilla Thunderbird mail client for them. I see that in Thunderbird I can set up LDAP searching, and would like to have this feature point to our contacts server. I've tried several different settings, and looked all over the web, but could not find the proper way to configure this. Does anyone know if this can be done, or if not, would have a better suggestion? Thank you for your time!!

When printing from v10.1.3 or v9 from OSX Lion get Adobe Reader quit unexpectedly
When printing from v10.1.3 or v9 from OSX Lion get Adobe Reader quit unexpectedly
Click on the print button
get the Print screen
Click Print then get the error
Am able to print fine from other applications
Have tried uninstalling and restalling Adobe 10.1.3, downgrading to v9. reinstalling the printer driver.

Adobe Reader worked under the spare Admin account so I deleted that in case it was confusing the installer. I then rerpaired persmissions. I then re-installed Reader. Same problem "Internal Error"!!
So, I re-created another Admin account and opened Reader. No problem. After clicking accept licence it opened up with a question to make default or not. After this I hunted through every folder and found that Under 'User/Librarary/Application Support/Adobe' there was an Acrobat folder. When I checked the account I normally use there wasn't, and never was?? So I copied pasted a copy of the Acrobat folder into the same location on the non working account and all is fine.
Problem for me is, why did this happen? I wasted almost a day on this. Is it a problem with the installer, the Macbook or Permissions. I checked permissions and they are identical to those on the spare Admin account. So why did the installer not create the Acrobat folder on the main account from where it was installed? Reason it concerns me is with regard to updates. Will they also screw up?
I'll try to explore further as times goes on but for now I have to say I've had enough of Acrobat and Lion for one day. "It just works". Really??? -

How to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from osx lion to osx snow leopard
I have MacBook with osx Lion and I need transfer my user acount to another mac computer (Mac mini) because my MacBook was broke and I send it to service. On Mac mini I have osx Snow Leopard. Is possible to use Migration Assistant to transfer files from osx Lion to osx Snow Leopard?
Sorry, but there's no way to "go back" with Migration Assistant.
Can you upgrade the Mini? -

I have tried these methods:

I'm totally stumped now.
I feel like I've tried every method imaginable, but still no luck.
Printing from OSX 10.6.8 works just FINE.
On the server side, I'm running Windows Server 2008... there's only a local admin and a local user account.
Clients running OSX Lion 10.7.2 -- All updated.

--- RichardLPD print service is not enabled by default in Server 2008. It can be enabled via the Print Serveer role, but I am remote and cannot confirm the exact setting.
As for SMB, the error log is showing;
Failed to connect to "smb://<username>:<password>@utlab-prsrv-02/"
So it would suggest that there is still an issue with the account detail you are using as you show you have tried this syntax at one stage. If you want to continue to create the queue using SMB rather than LPD then I recommend using the CUPS web page (http://127.0.01:631) to create the queue. This will allow you to enter the syntax exactly as the error message shows. From previous testing I found it was okay to just use the account name rather than domain/account name on a domain bound server. -
Has anyone successfully gotten an HP Color Laserjet 2600n to print from OSX Lion?
I have it installed by IP address with the drivers that Apple Update provided. When I send a print job to it, the status shows that it's connected and printing and the little sideways barber pole is screwing away, but the job never prints. As a matter of fact, the printer never even starts its warm-up cycle. Has anyone gotten this printer to work on a bone stock OSX Lion 10.7 image? This iMAC 27 is brand-freakin-new.
I have absolutely no printing issues from any of the 5 (cringe) - Windows 7 machines in the house.

I pulled up its web interface and the gateway and subnet settings matched the settings on my iMac. I opened a PDF and sent it to the printer successfully. I don't know what the hold up was, and while I am glad that I can print now, I am equally disappointed that I wasn't able to find the root of the problem so we could provide an answer to anyone else in the future that might have had the same problem. Guys, a have one big problem..My customer brought me a macbook with windows 7 installed to do a format and reinstallation, but she is no longer the OSX Lion, and do not know how to install the sound drivers, "touchpad", among other drivers, how to solve this? Where can I find the drivers? The MacBook is now with Windows 8 installed.

Can't remove Hamachi from Menu Bar (icon)
I own a second hand 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, today and yesterday I have had to reboot the system because it just quits on me. After getting back onto it by resetting the PRAM, I went on a deleting mission getting rid of photos and games and their relevant files to make sure this wasn't blocking it up with unessential items.
However, I've tried to delete Hamachi, used for game servers, and I can't delete it because it lives in the Menu Bar, so logically I went to see how to remove it but Command+click/drag just doesn't work, it just opens the drop down menu. I searched further and found that if this didn't work I could simply just click 'Quit' on the drop down menu, but that does nothing either!
I haven't got a clue how to get it out of my menu bar and until I do, I can't delete the supporting files also, help anyone?Uninstalling Hamachi on Mac

In Finder, go to the Applications folder and double-click HamachiUninstaller.
Choose if you want to Remove all settings and Hamachi configurations.
If you select this option, all your networks and membership information will be lost.

on the Hamachi user interface when you reinstall LogMeIn Hamachi.

LogMeIn installs a at boot kernel extension file into OS X itself to operate, it can only be uninstalled using their uninstaller.
If it has a problem uninstalling, install it again to return all files, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, you can hold Shift key upon booting and head to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions and find the LogMeIn kext file and move it to the Desktop. Then reboot to get out of Safe Mode.
If that doesn't work, then perform a #8 Reinstall Just OS X, Software Update fully and reinstall from original sources any other programs that fail to function correctly, however you might not be able to get 10.6 compatible copies of those programs again. Thus the manual method.

I downloaded/installed Aperture to demo - decided it was much more than I needed (iphoto is enough for my needs). So I put the shortcut on the desktop into trash, went to Finder and put Aperture in trash, then deleted trash.
But ----- I still have a software update for Pro Application Support, which Aperture is listed - I have no other Pro applications I installed.
Is this the true way to remove installed software from OSX - just drag to trash --- I could not find any other info. In the windows world you add/remove programs.

Yes, this really is the way to "uninstall" applications.
Aperture, however, will be listed in Software Update if it has been installed at any point, because of the way Software Update works. Software Update looks at the "Receipts" folder, and determines what needs to be updated that way.
So, the answer (for you) is to remove all "receipts" associated with Aperture. Look in /Library/Receipts, and place any "packages" you find that have Aperture in the name in the trash, then empty it.
This is only necessary with "built-in," iLife, or Apple "Pro" applications (anything that would ordinarily be updated via Software Update).

You'll likely need to read up on forums hosted by the developer which provided your preview copy of OSX. There are very few here using DP versions of OSX.

Could I still use the "find my mac"-app if I downgraded from OSX Lion to Snow Leopard?
In the beginning of 2012, I had the great misfortune of getting robbed and all my recording equipment was stolen, including my macbook pro 17" running on OSX Snow Leopard. I was able to buy a new macbook, same as the old one, but with the OSX Lion. It didn't take long before I noticed that it wasn't running as smooth as the previous OSX. At first I thougt it was the hardware; Steve Jobs had just died and I thought the people at Apple felt like they could finally ditch the high standards that were once enforced upon them and go Windows on our *****. But I soon learned it was the software. After re-purchasing my recording-software and trying and failing to install it, time after time, I got to a point where I just wanted to smash the whole thing and throw it out the window... Fortunately I managed to get a hold of myself. Now, I still want to get rid of the osx Lion and downgrade, but I don't want to have my stuff stolen again at some point and then find out that not only will Apple not pay out the insurance I payed for, but also I can't find my macbook anywhere, because I don't have this stupid application anymore because I downgraded. So, I was wondering if there's any chance to have the best of both worlds. (or the best of one world and then just the other/previous world) The only thing that's good about Lion is the "find my mac"-app. All the rest utterly ***** ***!!

a very disgruntled mac-user."Find my Mac" is an OS X Lion feature and is not available in Snow Leopard. So if you want Find My Mac in yor MacBook Pro you'll be stuck to OS X Lion.
I don't know what else to tell you other than consider buying Lo-Jack for laptops.

Access Windows Partition from OSX Lion - Tuxera
I am running OSX Lion and I have used Tuxera to gain read/write access to my Windows 7 Partition under Bootcamp.
I am trying to place a shortcut/alias to the desktop in Windows, on my OSX desktop, so I can drop and pickup data there... but the folders have a lock symbol on them, and I cannot seem to be able to write files there. NTFS-3G did not give hte this problem under Snow Leopard.
Does anyone know how to achieve this?Why not make 3 partitions instead? One with your existing OSX installation and all Mac applications, second in NTSF format for Windows system and Windows applications only and the third one in FAT32 for all data (My Documents, etc.) that will be shared by both OS's?

The home network it run by a 500GB Time Capsule (used to back up the laptops preferences only really, the tower has it's own 4 bay RAID unit that I use to back it up), the home network also supports two apple TV's which stream iTunes media from the tower. I of course use my laptop for when I am out in the field and away from home, whatever downloads or files I've created on it are transfered to the Tower and then deleted from the laptop for the most part. Recently my grilfriend has moved in and wants to use the tower in the similar fashion that I do as she also has a mac (which I mostly maintain), and I want to create a system that makes it easier to share and transfer files remotely on our home network, which finally brings me to my question. Would upgrading my tower to 10.7 Lion server edition allow for a more versatile set-up like this? Would I still be able to use it as a stand alone desktop with all of the apps it has insalled in it? Would it affect my media (iTunes) library and streaming to appleTV/airtunes or home sharing? What are the pros and cons of switching from a single user OS to the server OS?

-AdamI was just in a conversation on another list going on and on about syncing, calendar sharing, hassles with Mail, etc. I was explaining that today, even though there might only be one or two computer users on a LAN, each of those users may have several devices, so we're back to client/server architecture. But I didn't realize Lion Server was only $49 piddling bucks!
I'd do yerselft a favor and get it; I'm thinking of it. I've probably paid more over time for various applications and services that do what it does outta the box. Like calendar and contact sharing, email serving, etc. It does webdav too, which makes file sharing easier on mobile devices.
Otherwise it acts like any old Mac; I can't imagine her use would strain any of the resources you have. Much of the software the server uses is part of the regular OS anyway. Check out the features it has; it looks pretty good.
And give us a review if you get it.

How do you remove duplicates in OSX Lion Mail?
I know there are a few posts floating around about removing duplicate emails with Mail Scripts, however this software isn't supported in Lion just yet. And I would like to do this now. What's the smartest way to remove duplicates across multiple IMAP folders on 1 account. I don't need something so elaborate that does cross accounts etc.
I've downloaded and installed MailSteward but it seems to only allow modifying a backed up copy. I need to remove live duplicates.
Anyone have any suggestions? Come on Apple, as if you guys don't get duplicate emails that this can't be programmed into the software...
