Removing headphones starts playing music

Hi.
I seem to be having some strange problem which occurs randomly. When i remove the headphones from the iphone 3g it starts playing my music even though im not listening to anything.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem ?

No, it's definitely a bug. My iPhone starts playing A-Punk by Vampire weekend every time I disconnect my speakers when I leave work. Other than that, it doesn't matter what application you are in, or if you had the iPod playing.
Normally, I have Pandora Radio going. When I disconnect the speakers, it will start playing A-Punk. If Pandora was playing music, it will pause pandora (not close it) and start playing A-Punk. It will not switch to the iPod interface - I have to double click the home button and hit pause.
This is a stupid bug. It can't take more than a couple lines of code to check if a song is actually playing before sending a play/pause command to the iPod application upon headphone/speaker removal.
if (iPod_status = playing) then sendPlayPauseCommand("pause")
else write ("Hey, we fixed the bug and will stop playing A-Punk. Sorry, TJ.");

  • Itouch randomly unpauses and starts playing music.

    Hi All,
Hopefully someone can help with this one, I've done a bit of googling and havent found anything yet so fingers crossed.
I generally listen to my Itouch at night when im in bed ready to go to sleep, press pause button and then press the button to turn the screen off.
    so far so good,
at some point the next day (havent been able to nail down an exact time yet) the itouch will suddenly start playing music randomly ie not the tune or even album i was listening to the night before. although that might be because ive only noticed it playing a good while after it started.
only way i've found to fix it is to turn it off completely, which is obviously a pain in the bum and would like to know why it does it.
    anyone got any ideas?
    thanks in advance
    nOm

I just got my iPod touch 32GB 3rd gen for graduation, an mine is doing the exact same thing. I'll pause it to go bed or watch a movie, and suddenly it will start playing music. The only way I've found that it will not do this is to just unplug your headphones before going to sleep. That somehow works. And exit out of your music app to just the regular home page. That's just a home remedy. I really want to find out what's up as well.

  • My iphone starts playing music when I'm not even touching the phone

My iphone 4 starts playing music when the phone is in my purse and I'm not touching it or even going through my purse. I've tried making sure the ipod is not set to a song but rather to a menu screen when I close it. Sometimes I haven't even used the ipod recently. My phone also calls people when I'm not touching it. Does anyone else have this problem? It must be something I'm doing but I can't figure out what it could be. I'd appreciate any help!

Mine plays music when I have the iPhone 4 in my pocket and bend over a little, I know that kinda 'scrunches' the phone slightly but no other iPhone I've had ever did this and I've treated them all the same. I'll be walking along, pick up something and then the music starts playing. I don't touch anything, never attach headphones, basically the phone is asleep but somehow something triggers the music to start playing. I've entered this as a separate thread but no one seems to know why this happens. I suppose I could take the phone back and exchange it for a new one, but it would be better to know what is causing this.

  • Why does my iPhone 4s start playing music when I connect to a bluetooth unit?

I have recently bought a new 4s and have attempted to use it with my Automedia handsfree bluetooth unit in the car. The phone worked fine with my previous (Android) phone, but whenever I receive a call on the 4s it starts playing music through the bluetooth unit as well as the telephone conversation. This does not happen when I make a call. Any suggestions on how I can stop the music playing? (The phone wont let me swap to the music player to put the music on hold either.) Any help greatly appreciated as this is really annoying.

I considered that too, but when I double clicked the home button to show what apps were running, there was nothing there. I just don't understand how anything would have opened because I hadn't touched my phone in several minutes.

  • Re: iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music

I have something really strange going on.
My iTunes keeps opening by itself and starts playing music. I cannot figure this out. I turned off the "Sync Via Wireless" on all my gadgets, but this continues to happen. This has woken me up in the middle of the night until I got so tired of it I just shut my Mac down.
Anybody hear of this? Know what to do?

I had the same problem - and as well as opening by itself iTunes was skipping from track to track like crazy. But then I found a post from a few years ago that fixed this.
Connect your iPhone to your iMac and uncheck the box that says 'Open iTunes when this iPhone is connected'. Problem solved!
    Hope this works for you.

  • Automatically connects to sync and will start playing music all the time even when not using sync

My iPhone 4S will automatically start playing music as soon as I start my vehicle with sync.you can't hear it but on the screen it shows its playing even when listening to the radio

Try resetting it if you can: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release.  If you can't, try to connect it to iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore to restore it.  If that doesn't work you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
You can check in iTune to see if you have a backup.  They are listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices.  However, the backup may not bring your contacts back as contacts are only backed up as necessary to preserve the recent call and call favorites lists.

  • My phone has started playing music when it connects to Bluetooth in my car. How do I stop it?

With this last update, my iphone5 starts playing music every time it connects via Bluetooth in my car. I close the app but when I hang up from a call, the music starts again.  How do I turn this feature off?

The iphone starts playing music automatically when it connects to either of the car stereos via bluetooth and I don't want it to as it drains the phone battery. This is particularly annoying on the ford as the car stereo doesn't even support streaming music!
I don't want to lose the bluetooth connection as I need to make phone calls.
Does anyone know how to switch off the automatic start for the music without losing the bluetooth connection?

  • When hangup in bluetooth mode my iphone 5 starts playing music

It started when i upgraded to IOS 7

    Hello there, MrSheffer.
It sounds like you may have an application running in the background that plays music. The following Knowledge Base article offers up a great explanation on how to force close applications running in the background on your iOS device:
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
When performing Step 2, I would recommend closing all open apps. If restarting doesn't help with Step 3, try the recommended resetting as well:
If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

Chances are you are carrying your Bluetooth Wireless keyboard in the backpack.  Any time a key gets bumped, it will wake up your iPad.  If the right key gets bumped, it will start playing music!
One solution is to find a case for the keyboard that will protect the keys from being pressed while it is in the backpack.
Another solution may be to turn off Bluetooth when it is not in use, at Settings-General-Bluetooth.
I find I can hold the power button on my Apple keyboard for several seconds, and it will turn off.  Try it with yours.

  • IPhone starts playing music automatically when connecting to bluetooth

I'm having an issue where my iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0.1) starts playing music/podcasts as soon as it connects to the bluetooth audio in my car, even when neither the music app nor the podcasts app is open at all. This is extremely annoying because every time I get in my car it starts regardless if I want to listen to anything or not, and I'm forced to take my phone out and shut it off every time. At first, I thought it was a glitch with the podcasts app, so I deleted it, but it's still doing it through the music app. The weird thing is, while it's playing, if I open the music app, the "Now Playing" button doesn't appear. But if I double click the home button in the lock screen, or go to the music controls by double clicking on the home screen, it does show what's playing. I have no idea how to make this stop short of shutting off bluetooth, but I don't want to do this in case I want to use the phone itself while driving. Please Apple, fix this soon!

I am having a similar issue with my new IPhone 4 and my cars Bluetooth audio
The music on my iphone just randomly starts playing whenever I enter my vehicle. This happens eventhough I have paused the music
On one occasion the music was playing at the same time as I was on a phone call.

  • Is there a "one touch" option to start playing music?

I'm new o the world of the Ipod Touch but have been using the Ipod Classic for a few years now. The one thing I liked about the Classic was the ability to customize menus and have a one click option on the top most menu to start playing songs in a shuffle (Shuffle songs).
Now I picked up a new-to-me 1st Generation Ipod Touch 32G (to work with all of my existing car & home docking/charging systems where the 2G & 3G wont because of the voltage differences) and I sorely miss the one-touch music playing.
Is there an App or config option to allow me to press one button to play?
    Thanks!
    Frank

I tried several applications, most of which were godawful, didn't work, or were made for 12 year old girls and/or people who like the Fast & the Furious, but I found one application that was exactly what I was looking for and more.
FlickTunes is made to be used in a mobile environment. It offers customizable fonts so you can read the artist & song from more than a few inches away, instant & integrated access to the Music app so you can start playing music instantly, you can preset a playlist to start playing to save even more time, full & functional repeat & random, and the best part is it has fully customizable one, two, and three finger gestures so you can adjust volume, fast forward, pause, play, skip ahead a song, etc without having to even look down at the Ipod/Iphone....just swipe anywhere on the screen and it'll do what you programmmed.
I'd highly recommend this app to anyone who uses their Ipod while mobile...in the car, on a bicycle, running, etc.

My 3G iphone will randomally start playing music....when I have either my iphone ear buds or other head phones connected.  I've updated to the latest software, wondering if there is a fix out there for this?

  • My ipad starts playing music after opening case

iTunes start playing music every time I open case lid. It is annoying and unprofessional. How to fix this bug?

Yes.  That happens.   Turn the keyboard off.  If that does not seem to do it, turn Bluetooth off.
There are a fair number of reports from folks where the pad starts playing music at the wrong time.  Like on the subway, or in a meeting.  And it is always tied to a bt keyboard paired with the pad.
It is a 'feature' that starts playing music when almost any key is touched.   So turn it off.
Question, if you have the music app turned fully off ( double tap the home button to see the task bar, touch the music icon until it jiggles, then kill it fully by touching the minus sign), does it still happen?
