Removing helvetica and H... neue

I have about 15 macs (all 10.4.11). I installed a separate drive to test 10.5... I have a problem with both Helvetica and H... Neue. I can not delete the dfont and install the adobe type 1 postscript face. If I install the Helvetica type one then delete the dfont, the system responds that the face is needed by the OS and reinstalls it.
I can not have both of these faces loaded or some of my less experienced uses will use them and I will have kaka everywhere.
How can I remove these faces and install the adobe type one versions.

This particular workaround is a very tiny risk for a careful person and certainly nothing that can't be easily undone.
As far as updates go, I cannot answer that question since I haven't had to go through that experience yet. It's not a major job though so if it needs to be redone, so be it.
It's a fact that the Apple Truetype version of Helvetica can wreak havoc on documents that were created with Postscript fonts and very few designers want to
have to go through a multipage document fixing everything.
Then there's the problem of those who are unaware of the issue who load Postscript fonts along with the Truetype System version and encounter difficulties at print time.
Apple's engineers made a mistake when they made such widely used fonts as Helvetica and Helvetica Neue a part of the required System font library. They really should undo their mistake in a future version of the OS.
If they had gone the whole nine yards and included every style of those two families as part of the System font library that would have been acceptable to me, but they didn't. As a designer, I need the entire family available in a common format.
So I need to fix it and the risk is very, very small that something will go wrong.

Why are you asking? If you tell us more about your hunt for Helvetica, there may be other sources we can point you to, for instance, this one. Or this one. These may be helpful, if you are a graphic designer.
EDIT: In Kurt's tip besides stating, +"For Leopard, the .dfont supplied versions of Helvetica and Helvetica Neue are necessary for Mail, iPhoto 7 and iLife 08."+
He also mentions, +"If you have installed Acrobat or the free reader, you will find more PostScript versions of Helvetica and Courier in these application's Support folders. Since none of them are in a location that will be automatically activated by OS X, they can be left alone. Only those applications that installed them will use those fonts if they are not already active otherwise"+. So that may be another instance of Helvetica.

If you go to settings- store - click on the ID and sign out. Then you can put in your apple id.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

In a scenario , we are going to recieve a flat file which will contains header , footer and data. We have to have to load data in Oracle tables and remove header and footer.
once the data load is complete , we have to delete flat file from source directory.

You have a header parameter in the file datastore. You can provide any number to skip rows from top of the file. For footer you can create a filter in staging area.
Filter coould be something like this.
where source_alias.source_column not like '%FOOTER_OR_ANY_VALUE_AS_PER_YOUR_REQ'

Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

Firefox crashes a few times when I was on Facebook and with email, also watching dramas online. Most of the time due to Adobe Flash and I did submit crash report. Later it crashes for unknown reason while I have email and Facebook on different tabs -- when I was on the tab of email, it looks system hang and not responding. Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account. I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there. On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back. Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email. The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

How can i remove moved and deleted old libraries?

I've moved a bunch of my libraries around, removed some, and have installed iphoto9 on a new mac. I love that in iphoto9 I can now create new libraries or decide which library to open. But, all of my older libraries are showing up in the list when I open with "option". Plus there are duplicates of the older libraries. I'm assuming there is a db or data text file somewhere that is populating this list. Does anyone know how I can remove old defunct libraries from showing up in the list?

How to remove bullets and spacing for url links in the Related Links iview?

I tried to look for a property that I can edit the look-n-feel of the url links in the Related Link iView using "Theme Editor".
All I need is to remove the bullets and increase some vertical spacing between the links.
Currently, it looks like this:
URL iView A
URL Iview B
I go through the whole section of Related Links properties, none of them seems to do what I want.
Here are the list of properties in Related Link section (of Navigation Panel):
Link Color
Text Decoration of Link
Hover Color
Text Decoration of Hovered Link
Initially, I thought "Text Decoration of Link" should be the right property I should look at. But there are a drop-down with 5 options: None, Underline, Blinking, Overline and Line-Through, which really can't achieve what I want.

I checked the Related iView properties (URL Template), I don't see what layoutset it is really using. I am not sure, is that a layout set apply to the Related Link Iview?
For the regular KM iView, I will see what Layout Set I want to apply, then I can go and change the properties (of layout coontroller, collection renderer & resource renderer)you mentioned. But for this Related Link iView, I really don't know. I guess it may be in the code itself.
If there is a layout set for Related Link iView (or the place to apply layout set to it), can you point to me which one is that? (I did a search through the layout set names, I only find the AppQuicklinkExplorer (I used this for Dynamic Nav. Link iView before), if I can aply this layout set to Related Link iView, my problem will be solved.)

I upgraded to 11.1.14.62 this morning. Not iTunes is saying "An iPod had been detected but could not be identified properly". I unlugged/replugged in. I reset the iPod, I removed iTunes and reinstalled. I'ver tried three different cables.
When I put the iPod in disk mode it shows up briefly as a disk then goes away.
Any ideas?

Hi there - I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
1) iTunes
2) Apple Software Update
3) Apple Mobile Device Support
4) Bonjour
5) Apple Application Support
Then you restart your computer.
Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled).
Then you restart your computer again.
Mine is working perfectly again now.
