Removing hiss from cassette tracks

Other than the gate, how can I effectively remove hiss from some cassette tracks I imported to GB?

an audio editor like audacity would be a better choice:
http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#audioeditors
(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)
but in GB you can try any of the EQs (parametric would be my first choice)

  • How do i remove buzz and hiss from audio track?

    I'm using Premiere Elements 13, Windows 8, 64 bit
My original film has some hiss and buzz that I would like to remove. I tried applying DeNoiser and New Blue Hum Remover, but neither seemed to make a difference. Perhaps I need to tweek the tools to make them suppress more of the unwanted sound? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Just some quick things to check out for now.
If the Premiere Elements audio effects are not working for you, please check out the noise removal offered by the free audio editor named Audacity. Have you used that before?

Here are Audacity suggested how to. Think noise reduction rather than noise removal.

  • Removing keyframes from motion tracking

I have this video that I perform Analyze Motion to, then Match Move what I want to attach.
Trouble is, the Analyze Motion is just a little bit too jittery for my liking. What I'd like is to do a match move but only have every other (or every 3rd) keyframe used, to smooth out the movement.
Is there a way to do this, or to knock out every other keyframe from the Analyze Motion?

The best way to "smooth" a track is to use the Average parameter behavior. Apply it to the same layer that has the Analyze motion (or any other tracking behavior). Set the "Apply To" parameter to the Track result(s) that need smoothing. I would recommend using one instance for each axis (X/Y) for each track. This will give you better control since in many cases you may need different degrees of smoothing.
Be aware, average reduces the accuracy of the tracks, so you may encounter some drift or decreased accuracy. If you really want to remove every X number of frames, you would need to do this manually in the keyframe editor. Before you do that, I'd make a copy of the tracking beahvior. If you remove keys from the behavior and don't have a duplicate, you'll have to reanalyze.

  • Removing Effects from a track

How do I remove an effect from the insert on a track? The help menu says to click on the insert and select "no effect" but when I click, it doesn't give me that option. Is there another way to remove an effect from a track?

Thank you. That was so simple that I feel silly now

  • How to remove hiss from a Live Instrument

I have a lot of hiss in one of my live bass tracks. Is there a way to remove it?

Make sure your backup copy is up to date and use that to move the music.
You can also type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.

  • Can't remove effects from video track

    Video: http://screencast.com/t/x5L00pQn
I right-click the track and select "Remove Effects", tick all checkboxes but nada.Of course, the track is not locked or anything.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

What effects are you referring to? I see time remapping keyframes, but those are exempt from the Remove Effects command (since removing them would alter the duration of your clip).
Remove Effects removes or resets the following:
    Motion (intrinsic)
    Opacity (intrinsic)
    Video Filters (applied)
    Audio Filters (applied)
    Audio Volume (intrinsic)
Transitions are not effects, at least in the technical definition, so they are not removed either.

  • Recorded too low...Remove hiss from audio?

I'm a noob at Soundbooth and I'm hoping it will help resolve a problem. I shot a video and I think the audio (voice recording) is too low. While editing in Premiere I pulled the audio up in volume and it sounded acceptable... but when burned to DVD there is a hiss. Is there anything I can do with Soundbooth to fix the volume and eliminate the hiss.  The simpler the explaination the better. Thanks!

re 1 & 3- there's a description of how to do this in the STP manual. Just look under the help section and it'll be there. Just read it this weekend and got it to work for me and believe me, I'm not the shapest knife in the drawer. One bit of advice, make an extra sequence before you export to STP so you don't mess up your original audio.
Regarding how to remove the hiss, unfortunately it's not a one size fits all. Jay Rose wrote an article entitle "Shh- the silent art of noise reduction" or something close to that. Definitely try to find that article if you can at DV.com You can always try a low cut or shelf. Start at 130 Hz Male to 200 Hz female and back off if it cuts too off (makes it sound too thin). There's supposed to be a way to compensate for this by doing an eq bump 3 x the frequency you cut or something like that. You can also cut or shelve frequecies above 12000 Hz. Then there's using a downward expander, but that's a little tricky with what STP comes with stock imo. Expanders are better for film/video than noise gates as they are much less abrupt. I would use noise reduction as my last resort and almost never use it at all. A lot of these filters can be applied in FCP.
Honestly, if you ask at the DV.com audio forum I'm sure they'll give you the advice you need. Jay Rose did write a book on post production audio that you might be interested in as well. Pretty much all of what I'm trying to tell you comes from it or that aricles. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost that book.

  • Removing echo from audio track.

    Hi
I have audio recorded in a church which sounds great apart from the echo on it. Im at a loss as to which filter, if any will help remove it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Many Thanks
    Adrian

You may be able to reduce the level of echo by using a noise gate; the results will depend upon the nature and level of echo and also other background noise, but some reduction may be possible. Don't be too agreesive in the setting of noise reduction otherwise it will be very obvious that you are gating the sound and you will end up hearing the background sound coming and going as quite often heard on less well processed movies and tv productions.

  • Remove Reverb from Voice Tracks in GarageBand

I am testing out the version of GarageBand that came with my iMac.  I had previously been using GarageBand '09.
In GB 10.0 when I add any voice track, it automatically includes this reverb that I can't get rid of. The default "audio track" has no reverb but so far it looks like all of the voice tracks have it.
I have turned off the master reverb, master echo, and track reverb/echo.
    I still here it.
    What am I missing?

The "Reverb" is part of most of the predefined vocal patches.
You can save your own settings as a new instrument patch using the "Save" button at the bottom of the Library.  Then use this patch, when you create a new vocal track.

  • How do you remove plug-ins from a track?

This might sound stupid, but I don't know how to remove plug-ins from a track.
Not only bypassing them, but removing them completley!
    Help anyone?
    Thanks!

May I suggest reading the "Exploring Logic Pro" manual. It's a short read and has the exact answer your looking for plus it will answer so many other operational questions.
Really a good place to start, 2nd listing from the top.

  • REMOVE VOCALS FROM TRACKS

DOES LOGIC PRO 8 HAVE A PLUGIN FOR REMOVING VOCALS FROM TRACKS?
    Thanks.

Sample if I'm not mistaken that was a tongue in cheek comment, and I got it... so you know it wasn't lost on everyone. As far as the VS880... I'd like to hear the "stunning' results I had one of those way way back and the bottom line is you are taking out frequencies that are panned centre, so ... as pointed out the reverbs and delays are almost never panned centre and won't get removed... but there are a lot of other instruments that suffer from the removal of said frequencies and to my ear ... the results always suck... DNA is just new and even though a revolutionary break-through, I seriously doubt it's anywhere close to that. I mean he did have a break through playing with the math of frequencies but when it comes to trying to separate formants all those other unique elements that distinguish between the sounds of different instruments including voice .. forget it...
At this point DNA won't even separate drums, and for all intents and purposes you could argue that each drum in a kit is pitched differently ... They are sooooo far from separating instruments sharing frequencies not worth mentioning...

  • Best app to remove duplicates from iTunes 2014

    Hi All,
I've been trying to research the best application to sort and remove duplicates from my iTunes library. I have over 7000 songs and iTunes built in duplicate finder doesn't look at the track fingerprint, which is useful for those songs which are labelled "Track_1" etc.
Has anyone reviewed any recent products? I was looking at TuneUp, but after reading so many negative comments, I've decided not to go down that path. I would prefer a program that did most of the work for me, due to the amount of songs. Happy to pay for a good product...
I do have MusicBrainz Picard, which has done a great job of tagging, but don't remove duplicates.
    Thanks in advance :-)

Tune up is a great app.  When they moved from version 2 to version 3 is when it went to crap and all heck broke loose.  They shut their doors  but they have since re opened and went back to developing  version 2.  I use that version and I am pretty happy with it as being an overall cleanup utility.  I also use Musicbrainz and a couple of other utilities but in the end if you have an enormous library 20k plus then you are going to have a few slip through.  I would probably go with Tuneup if I were you and a thorough third party duplicate finder.  Dupe Guru's music edition seems to do a pretty good job.

  • Delete DC from the track

    Hi Experts,
I have created a DC in a Track.
Now i want to delete it from the track.
i referred to SAP note :864515.
However applying SAP note for my DCs it throws the error as "Folder or subtree contains local only files or folders"
whereas i can still see the DC deployed on the server.
Can you guys help me find the solution to this?
    Regards,
    Ashish Shah

    Hi Ashish,
    Try this.
1)If Remove from Client does not work, then manually delete the dc folders from the file system.
2)Check in DTR perspective under this DC that all files exist only remotely (i.e no file under that DC tree in DTR should have a home icon)
3)In Dev Config perspective, rt-click on this DC and "Create Project" .. the whole point is you should get a "mount" for the resources to be deleted from the DTR.
4)Close the project and delete the project (select the radiobutton delete the contents from the folder too)
5)Goto DTR persp, rt-click on _comp folder and Delete subtree
    6)Delete and check-in
    Lemme know how it goes.
    Thanks,
    Rajit

  • Build Error while trying to import a dc from the track.

    Hi All,
I  imported a Java perspective Dc from a track to local developement,
When i tried to build locally developed dc, but i was getting a build error as
    "error reading C:\Documents and Settings
.dtc\0\DCs\dc_ext_lib\_comp\gen\default\public\Excel_API\lib\java\Jexcel-install.jar; error in opening zip file"
There was a error in opening the JExcel file.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks,
    Anil

    Hi Anil,
I think the jar file(Jexcel-install.jar) is zipped.Unzip the zar file from the folder......lib/java.
Or else remove the jar file and import the application into NWDS,then add the jar externally from the NWDS.
Make sure that the dc does not have any files.
Once you import the dc rightclick on the prj-.properties-.add the external  jar file or directly place the jar file in java folder.

    Lavanya.G
