Removing IDVD Slideshow Audio

I created a slideshow in IPhoto and exported it to IDVD. I added music (ITunes songs) and I need to remove/replace the songs. Can this be done? I can't seem to even view the songs that are in the slideshow. They are there but I can't "see" them. Please help!

Hey guys just to clarify, yes I'm trying to change the music already in the slideshow that I placed there during creation. If I drag the music file as you mentioned, SDMacuser, it'll work for the menu(s) but not the actual slideshow. I've even deleted the audio file under "edit drop zones" and all it does is remove the audio from the menus and not the actual slideshow.
I think I'll try going back to IPhoto and altering the audio there then resend to IDVD to see if that'll work. I've never removed music from IPhoto either so hopefully that'll be easier.
Thanks for all the insight and help!

  • IDVD slideshow audio sync off on burned DVD

Others have listed this problem, but no apparent solution. If this is a bug, has it been fixed in iLife'09?
Specifically, a slide show with a mix of photos and video clips late in the slideshow, all imported from iPhoto, advances the audio associated with the video clips several minutes relative to the video. The problem only shows up when the disc is burned, it is fine in preview mode,

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have the slideshow setting set to mute the added audio when you play the video clips?
You might consider assembling the slideshow iniMovie HD 6 where you can precisely align the music where you want. Save and close iMovie and drag the project file into an iDVD slideshow (so you can scale the movie to the TV safe area).

Make your slideshow as a movie in iPhoto or Imovie.
Images in iDVD created slideshows are considered to be 'Chapters' and many/most set top DVD player drop the audio on chapter changes.

  • IDVD slideshow audio transitions

I am creating a dvd montage in idvd and want to fade in and out music. Can this be done in IDVD version 7?
    Thank you!

If you have iMovie HD6, you can make adjustments to the volume of your music using this application. GarageBand also does this type of editing.
Using iDVD, you are able to make the music fade out only at the end of the slideshow. This is from iDVD Help:
    _Making a soundtrack fade out_
+You can make the soundtrack of a slideshow or a background movie in a menu fade out at the end. This small detail adds polish to your DVD.+
    +To fade out audio:+
    +Choose iDVD > Preferences.+
+Click Slideshow and select “Fade volume out at end of slideshow.”+
+Click General and select “Fade volume out at end of menu loop.”+
+“Menu loop” refers to any soundtrack you have added to the menu background and to the sound that is part of a movie you have added to the menu background.+
+These settings take effect the next time you open iDVD.+
    I hope this helps.

  • Audio Sync Problem in iDVD slideshow

I created a slideshow in iPhoto, Version 7.1.5 and transfered it to iDVD. The slideshow contains photos and videos taken with my camera. The videos open in QuickTime, Version 7.6.2, and play with audio. The slideshow plays in iDVD without any problems. I burned a DVD and played it on our TV. The slideshow plays as it did in iDVD with one exception---the audio with the videos plays either prior or after the videos appear in the slideshow. The audio appears to be as recorded by the camera, only the sync with the video clip is off. The slideshow contains 417 slides and 12 video clips.
I created a second "trial" slideshow with a few photos and video clips. This DVD slideshow played as expected in iDVD and on our TV. So I'm suspecting the number of slides is at the source of the problem. When I finalize the slideshow it would contain about 1/2 the number of slides with about the same number of video clips.
Any suggestions on achieving audio sync with the video clips would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Royal
To answer your question directly, the DVD standard is 99 chapters. iDVD works around this limitation by resetting chapter 100 and starting over at 1 again.
You can always create your slideshow in iPhoto, iMovie or a 3rd party slideshow app like PhotoPresenter, Fotomagico, etc. or save it as a QT movie file and add the movie file to an iDVD slideshow.
Here's a good link that OT has set up as a good example while using PhotoPresenter:
    http://web.me.com/toad.hall/Demo3/PhotoPresenterThemes.html
Like I mentioned above, there are a number of third party apps that work just as well if you search this forum for additional examples.
Hope this helps but if not jusrt come on back.

  • Audio dropouts in iDVD 7.04 at every 99th frame when creatin IDVD slideshow

    Dear Friends,
About two months ago, I completed my first iDVD slideshow project, consisting of 911 photos and a soundtrack. It seemed perfect when using iDVD Preview, but when I burned it to a DVD or saved it as a disk image, I discovered a series of audio dropouts, some minor, some moderate and some rather extreme. I also discovered that the dropouts occurred an EXACT mathematical interval, that is first at #99, next at #198, next at #297, and finally down to #892.
I contacted iDVD Support and they repeatedly argued that a dropout could happen at regular interval, and that they were always random. The suggestion given to me was to “always empty the iDVD cache before burning, which I did repeatedly and the issue persisted.
I called back in and instead of going back to iDVD Support, using my specific case number, I went sent to an Apple Support Generalist, who knew nothing of the issue, and so it happened again, and again, and again…
Has anyone in the real world beyond Cupertino ever experienced such an issue? If so, have you developed an effective resolution? My only resolution has been not to even have a audio soundtrack.
Thanks, Apple Support for not being there when I really need you!

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico: http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie 6 as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 8 from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • Slideshow audio gets out of sync when exported to iDvd

I made a large slideshow for a 40th anniversary party. It has 244 images & 7 songs. It is 29 min 54 seconds long. When I view the slideshow in iPhoto it works fine & the last image ends right at the end of the last song.
When I exported it to iDvd, the audio gets out of sync with the video. By the end of the first song, the video is about 2 seconds ahead. By the end of the last image, the last song is cut of by about 30 to 45 seconds. I tried exporting the slideshow directly to iDvd. I also exported it as a large movie & it did the same thing.
    I'm using a 17" 1.67ghz powerbook with 1.5 gigs of ram.
    I'm using OS 10.4.2.
    I'm using iPhoto 5.0.4
    I'm using iDvd 5.0.1
The images are scanned tiffs. I also have jpegs that I shot with my canon eos digital rebel xt.
Anybody have any ideas or work-arounds?

I suggest you either use iDVD to create two slideshows or use iMovie to get all 277 images and the 8 audio tracks into one slideshow. If you use iMovie after you get the slideshow/movie put together and completed quit iMovie. Then go into the iMovie project package (Control-click and select Show Package Contents). The find your movie in the Shared Movies folder and drag it into an open iDVD menu. This allows iDVD to to the rendering of the stills and give you a sharper image. That movie file you're dragging is a reference movie so leave it where it is and just drag it into iDVD's window.
If you can live with two separate slideshow (consider it a potty break between the two) and you don't have or need the Ken Burns effect, you can get excellent results by building the slideshows with iDVD from imported stills. The sync to audio in this method works as advertised. I like to add a blank slide at the end of the slideshow so the music fades out during a blank, black slide.

  • Adding/DELETING Titles & Comments to Individual Photos In An iDVD Slideshow

I am running iDVD 6.0.3 where I have 85 titled photos [selected, not imported, from Media/Photos into iDVD] already entered into an iDVD slideshow. I would like to have a title on ONLY the FIRST photo. The iDVD "Help Menu" makes it sound like this wish of mine would be possible as it states: "You don't have to include text for all the images. Only text you add will appear in your slideshow; the placeholder text will not appear."
I do know HOW to add a title and/or comment to the FIRST photo, but how do I DELETE the title and or comment from the other 84 photos? Do I have to go through each one and MANUALLY delete each title? That seems like a LOT of trouble, and perhaps I am just missing a way to do this more easily???
I know about using the gear shaped Settings feature to check "Show titles and comments", but that is where it includes the titles that are already on all of the 85 photo from when I chose them from the Media/Photos pane; unless, it seems, that I were to delete the other 84 titles and/or comments INDIVIDUALLY.

Yes, you are right, I could make a "title photo" in iPhoto from a card I could design [I do not have Photoshop Elements] and use that for the title. Thank you. It just seems like this same thing should be able to be done within iDVD itself with the way they have the directions written in the iDVD "Help Menu".
After I made my original post on this topic, I think I solved my own question using a round-about method. I had to use the "batch change" to "no title" in iPhoto BEFORE selecting my 85 photos in iDVD slideshow. That way all of the title/comment areas were blank when I brought them into iDVD, and then I could just add titles or comments to the exact individual photo of the 85 that I wanted to label. So I was able to accomplish what I wanted it to do. It just seems, however, that iDVD should have an option in iDVD to add title/comments to individual photos without having to take the titles off all of the labels ahead of time in iPhoto. If the iPhoto program can allow the titles of photos to be removed as a "batch change", it seems that iDVD should have been designed with that same feature! Or maybe I am missing something here?

  • Get songs onto iDVD slideshow

How do I get my songs onto my slideshow in iDVD?  There is no "audio well" nor can I add them to the pictures.  I can only add songs to the main page, but not the slides themselves.  Please help.

    Hi
I think that that is more  than iDVD SlideShow function can do. That's one of the things that make me use another tool.
I prefere iMovie HD6 (or FinalCut) as
    • there are no 99 photo per Show limit (as in iDVD SS)
    • I have 100% control over audio and transitions etc.
    • They export all lines over to iDVD (iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - only send over every second one = Less resolution)
or I use FotoMagico™ (included in Roxio Toast™ bundle)

Because iDVD is not longer supported or offered by Apple.  So now you have to export any iPhoto slideshows at the large or medium size to your hard drive, place it where you will be storing QT movie files and then drag into an open iDVD project window being careful to avoid any drop zones in the menu window.
If you place the file in the Movies folder you can acces it and iPhoto photos via the Media pane in iDVD.
In iDVD follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Is there any way for me to remove a broken audio jack stuck in my macbook?

is there any way for me to remove a broken audio jack stuck in my macbook?

You'll have to get a Dremel motor tool and some fine metal bits, make a jig to hold the Dremel so it's stationary, then a slider jig for the MacBook Pro so the bit can drill into the center of the stuck plug.
Gently push the MBP against the drill bit so it drills into the stuck plug.
Once the hole is drilled down deep enough, use some metal to metal epoxy resin to glue the bit into the drilled hole, then let it set up according to directions.
Take a pair of vise-grips and get a good grip on the bit portion sticking out and gently pull it straight out, if you bend or twist, you can snap off the bit.

If you are still within your 15 day return period.  Call Apple they will sent out iDVD at no charge.  (There are no realistic substitutes.)
Nicely explain that you may return the computer without iDVD. That usually does the trick.  You MUST speak to a senior advisor to get a free copy. The first tier people cannot do it.

Yes, there are programs that will put a movie on a DVD.   I have tried most of the other substitutes including Toast, Burn, and others.  None of them come anywhere near the ease-of-use and power of iDVD. IDVD is specifically designed to work with iMovie. Get iDVD.

  • Pulling images out of an iDVD slideshow

Stemming from another question I posted on the Powerbook G4 board, I have a question regarding an iDVD slideshow.
My Powerbook's hard drive, I have a sinking feeling, is dead. My iDisk was full and I was getting ready to buy more storage space when the crash happened. I'd just created and burned a slideshow of pictures from a trip to Austria ... is there a way to grab the individual images out of the iDVD slideshow and get them back as individual photos once my computer is repaired.
FYI, I'm looking into data recovery companies, but I'm not holding out much hope.
Please ... your insights are greatly appreciated.
    Powerbook G4 15w/SuperDrive   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   with 750mb RAM

iDVD has an option to add the original pictures to the DVD in the "DVD ROM" area. You can determine if it's there by inserting the DVD in a computer and quitting out of the Player application. Double-click the disc icon and look in the folders -- hopefully you'll find more than two folders and the third one will be labeled something like "DVD-ROM."
As SD says, your other options aren't so great. The slideshow on DVD is a compressed video file (mpeg-2 format) so you'd be uncompressing the video and then extracting a frame. You might check Graphic Converter and Photoshop to see if they can extract a frame without the conversion process.
I don't know if a screen capture would be better... thinking if you had a very large screen, then you'd wind up with a larger-sized screen capture (more pixels).
I assume the pictures were digital and you erased the memory card? There should be software to recover files from the memory card.
