Removing incidents in grid control from backend repos database.

hi,
Like we remove alerts sometimes by deleting from mgmt_severity, is there any table which can help me remove some incidents which are not clearing in grid control 12C?
I really need it please.

What kinds of incidents are not clearing?
For stateless incidents (such as logfile based incidents) you will need to manually clear the incident. You can remove the underlying alert using emcli clear_stateless_alerts.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/em.121/e17786/cli_verb_ref.htm#CACGAEDI
The other alerts should be cleared by fixing the root cause after which the Incident should clear automatically.
Mark.

  • Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database

I want to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control 10.2.0.3 using an existing database. This database is RAC 10.2.0.2. and I use it as Infrastructure Metadata Repository.
I is said in Oracle documentation that SYSMAN schema has to be dropped, thus Database console repository has to be dropped. As far as I understand after Grid Control installation I will not be able to use Database console for my RAC 10.2.0.2 Infrastructure Metadata Repository database. I will be able to use only Grid Control for this database.
Am I right? Could you give me any advice about Installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Using an Existing Database?
    Thank you.

Have 4 node cluster, and wants to impliment steps this way.
    1) First remove instance(s) on node to remove by going "CLUSTER DATABASE(S)"
    select SERVER
under "Change Database" select "delete instance" go from there...
    2) go CRS page and choose "Monitoring Configuration" and choose and update
I have manual steps.. but wants to try with GC...

I have never gotten Grid Control and database control working for a single database. I have tried. Oracle dbca gives you a choice for Grid Control or database control but not both.
Right, because intuitively it doesn't make much sense (but, as i mentioned, my situation is a bit out of the norm).
But, would there be some sort of error message returned if you did go in and manually start EM? Have you tried to go in and manually start up the dbconsole when GRID control was already running?
I checked the port.ini file and it showed this:
Enterprise Manager Console HTTP Port (SAIN) = 5500
Enterprise Manager Agent Port (SAIN) = 1831
So it's recognized in that file. It seems odd that DBCA would bother to include that if you select instead Grid Control.
Regarding the additional overhead of running both, would it be a big deal to simply turn EM on when I want to use it, then to turn it off so as to eliminate the additional overhead??

  • How to use OEM grid control to find any database not in archivelog mode?

    Hello,
currently we have 130 databases, say, if I want to pick out any database currently NOT in archivelog mode, is there a quick way to find out ?
    by using OEM grid control
    or
    some trick similar,
but really don't need to check each database manually.
    thank you very much!

This query works in 12c - please run as SYSMAN.
It is based on undocumented assumptions though +( AND key_value = 'NOARCHIVELOG')+.
      SELECT *
      FROM SYSMAN.MGMT$GROUP_DERIVED_MEMBERSHIPS O ,
        SYSMAN.MGMT$TARGET T ,
        sysman.MGMT$AVAILABILITY_CURRENT st
      WHERE
      o.member_target_type     IN ('oracle_database', 'rac_database')
      AND ( t.target_type           ='rac_database'
      OR (t.target_type             ='oracle_database'
      AND t.type_qualifier3        != 'RACINST'))
      AND o. member_target_guid     = t.target_guid
      AND t.target_guid             = st.target_guid
      AND st.availability_status    = 'Target Up'
      AND ( EXISTS
        (SELECT *
        FROM sysman.mgmt$metric_current i
        WHERE I.TARGET_GUID = O.MEMBER_TARGET_GUID
        AND metric_name     = 'archFull'
        AND Metric_Column   = 'archTotal'
        AND metric_label    = 'Archive Area'
AND column_label    = 'Total Archive Area (KB)'
        AND key_value       = 'NOARCHIVELOG'
));Another way to achieve the goal is to push extended metrics (SELECT LOG_MODE FROM V$DATABASE) on each DB, and monitor the values they return to the repository. This is an example for a (slightly) different problem - http://iiotzov.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/how-to-use-the-new-oem-12c-metric-extensions-to-enforce-enterprise-wide-custom-policies .

  • Can Grid Control on Windows monitor databases on UNIX?

If I install Grid Control on a Windows pc can I use it to monitor databases on UNIX?

There are two reasons I have to reboot the box.
1.You know, Windows always needs "update and reboot".
2.Sometimes I got the EM error message "Count of targets not uploading exceeded the critical threshold " from all hosts, but I am sure all hosts and agents were working normally.
After receiving errors, I found the grid control can't show the right chart on the performance tab.
Then I reboot the box and everything works fine again.

  • OEM 10g grid control using an existing database

    Hello all,
Has anyone been successful in installing Enterprise Manager 10g Grid
Control (10.1.0.3) using and existing 10g (10.1.0.3) database?
10g grid control comes with 9.0.5.0 database for it repository. Since
this respository can not be update to 10.1.0.3, Oracle recommends using
    and existing 10g database instead.
My installation goes 90% all the way before it fails. It fails at the
    create repository point.
If any one has been successful, could you please share your success
    with me.
    Thanks,
    Jake

Well, finally I did it! :)
The problem comes when you are trying to install OEM repository into existing 10g DB which used to be configured with a standalone Database Control. Dropping SYSMAN user is not enough!!! There are some leftovers which must be cleaned before running repository creation assistant:
    drop user SYSMAN cascade;
    drop user MGMT_VIEW cascade;
    drop role MGMT_USER;
    drop public synonym MGMT_TARGET_BLACKOUTS;
    drop public synonym SETEMVIEWUSERCONTEXT;
    That's all folks.

  • How do I remove unwanted dark grid lines from my Basic_Graphic_Textures?

Basically, I have been having dark grid lines show up in files I create in Illutrator CS6 as of late.  This particular instance is surrounding a background layout im trying to create.  I select a 650x500 rectangle and apply a patterns fill.  To be specific, Patterns--->Basic Graphics--->Basic_Graphics_Textures-----Diamonds.  No matter what I do, there is a dark grid benath the fill. It shows up in any fill I have been doing lately.
The above image is a layout with 3 layers.  1 white layer(bottom), 1 red/pink layer(middle), and the top layer being the rectangle/diamond fill.
This only happens with pattern fills and with fluid repeating text fills.  Normally, the dark lines are full squares, but in the above image they are only running vertically. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I'm not sure  if this is just a hardware issue with my graphics card, or if I'm missing something else.

The patterns are for filling space with a repeating pattern but have some problems as you are discovering. Try dragging the swatch for the Diamonds texture from the Swatch panel to a file you have open. You can see how the pattern is created. Notice the overhang on both sides. Does this look like your problem?
By changing the stroke of the line in the Diamonds pattern to 0.25 and replacing the swatch I have to go out to 50% size to see the repeat like this

  • Grid control cannot discover a database

I have an agent configured on a windows server with GC on linux.
GC knows about the agent and can see the host. However, when I try and discover the database I keep getting connection time outs. The agent on the windows server is running and uploading files.
I can ping the windows box from GC and visa versa
I can ping the host names too.
    Can anyone help out.
    regards
    Alan

Have you tried manually adding it or is that what you mean by 'discovering'?
also from the grid server, can you run up bog standard sqlplus and add the relevant to the relevant tnsnames.ora and just try connecting via sqlplus or use tnsping just to make sure that bit is ok.

Specify file location staging area on standby node
At the end am presented with a review of the selected options and then the standby database is created
Has any body come across a similar issue?
    Thanks,

    Any resolution on this?
I just created a Logical Standby database and I'm getting the same warning (WARNING: No credentials available for target ...) when I do a 'Verify Configuration' from the Data Guard page.
Everything else seems to be working fine. Logs are being applied, etc.
I can't figure out what credentials its looking for.

Please any input will be appreciated.Hi ,
I hope your hostname will remain same... If it is like that then you dont have to make any changed anywhere...
You you need to make changes only on hosts files with new ip address on all target servers..
And if hostname is changed, then you will have to reinstall OMS..

  • How to switch target from DB Console to Grid Control

    Hi,
    Here's the deal :
I need to switch from a Database which was running in DB Console locally on that comp to be part of the 10g Grid Control ( on a OEL Linux 4 ).
I installed the agent and set it to use the Grid Server but I cant get the listener to communicate (on the grid) ; coz am sure I need to somehow knock that database from using DBConsole and switch over to be part of the GRID.
I verified that emd.properties of that agent has the correct Repository URL.
Could you point me in the right direction ? I'd really appreciate that.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The reason I did the deconfig option was cause : Initially the database on "server3.sam" was configured to use DBConsole. Later on when I decided to hook this server ( and DB ) to the grid, I found that the GRID didnt recognize the the DB on "server3.sam" and the server name wont get added under HOSTS.
Even though the emd.properties had the correct Repository URL of the GRID, it didnt help.
At this stage here is what I found as per Oracle Documentation :
" You will need to deconfigure Database Control if you want to configure Grid Control to use a database already configured with Database Control. "
So I assumed that for all DB's currently using DBConsole, inorder for them to link up with GRID we had to deconfigure them first and run dbca to reconfigure with GRID settings. This worked out for me. Hence my suggestion.
If this aint the correct way to hook up, could you please enlighten me ? Also can you tell me what exactly is deconfig doing ?

  • Grid Control and Ora-12557 error

Hello, I'm trying to install the Oracle DataGuard in my work. I have two server with these features:
2 Processors Intel Xeon 2.8 GHz
    4 GB Ram
    6 SATA hdd 250GB (Raid 5)
for each server. Actually, only one server have the database production, and the another server I have for testing purpose. I must be have a high availability system. I want to build an Oracle RAC system, but I think that I need an external storage (something like SAN, or fibre channel or iSCSI). Well, I assumed that I don't create a Oracle RAC because I do not have the hardware requirements. Then, I thougth use Oracle DataGuard. For that, I have one server in one building and another server in another building like a standby database. If a server fail, then I use the another.
I decided to create Oracle DataGuard configuration. I installed windows 2003 server standard edition in my server for test purpose, and then I installed the Oracle Database 10 g with my database. After I installed the Oracle Grid Control with a new database for repository. Well, when the installation of Oracle Grid Control was completed, I didn´t connect to my database because sqlplus show me an error (Ora-12557). Before I install the Oracle Grid Control I can connect perfectly with my database, but after that I can not connect any time.
    Anyone can help me, please????

    After formatting (clean server)
    1. Install grid control Repository and Management Server
    2. Patch it to the latest version (10.2.0.3)
    3. Install agent on your other server ,see that you should be able to communicate, check for propert username/password settings.
    4. Install your first database , lets say you install it on the same machine with grid
Check for ports/etc and see its in a working order
    5. From Grid control ,create your standby on another machine , grid required no interfearance from user once some pre-requisits (you should be able to ping/ftp) on the host.
there are number of possibilites for meeting your requirements, keep refering installation guide where possible.
