Removing Install Files

Hello Arch forums. I've recently just reinstalled Arch because it was going to *bleep*, and after I installed and uninstalled some packages (namely the Eclipse and Eric IDEs) I noticed that when I reinstall them, the total download size is 0.00 MB, and I don't download anything new. So I came to think, "Where are all of these installation files going?".
After looking both on the wiki and just in my filesystem I couldn't find it. So I'm here, looking for where the install files are located, letting me remove them.

Itunes installation stops and removes installed files

I am trying to install itunes on a PC and the installation starts and as it seems to be almost complete, it give me a system error and the installed components begin to erase and the status bar goes backwards on the screen saying the components are being removed. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I stand corrected; After hours of research I decided to restart from scratch and checked my Windows updates history, only to discover to my horror that the last 5 updates had failed... Traced the error (800700b) to a corrupted Windows file system log, cleared it following Microsoft's instruction, restarted the computer and bingo, the Itunes suite installed without a problem.
So I suggest you take a look at your Vista update history for failed updates.

Removing installed files

I installed a ram booster program. I did a hard reset the software is still in my application list eventhough I cant use it and I cant remove it.
Is there any way I can delete from the list?

Question 1: This is happened after you install new software ver 4?
If yes, then another question.
Are you install onto memory card?
If yes, then remove the memory card, insert into PC reader and open the forder.
One of the folder that contains the file as a0009ba As example, delete it.
You must find the particular application file that you want to remove. (a0009ba is only a example).
Find out the 2 folders with the same name and delete it too.
Before you delete it, ensure that folder is related to the particular application file that you don't want.
Copy your memory card to your PC as backup before you delete anything.
If any things happend, just recopy back the original backup.

What "app cleaner software" ? I ask because installing Photoshop over a previous version has never been a problem. Perhaps your difficulty stems from another source, eg. "cleaner software" ?
If you look in your hard drive, at the root level there is a Library. In there is a folder called Application Support, and in that you will find a folder called Adobe. Files from your previous version are there.
However, I urge you to call Adobe support to make sure you are not doing anything that would mess up other Adobe applications.

I am trying to install iiji reactor but it install but at then end it fails and it say following Feature: ijji Auto Installer Component: iAIFile1 File: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\ . Please help how i can remove this file at plugins.

When i try to install ijii reactor it install almost ill end but then fail error is following:

Run it and it'll remove the browser plugin from Firefox. Then re-run Reactor installer.

Uninstalled PSE 9 and 10 and it removed shared files from PSE 12 and can't re-install.

After re-downloading PSE 12 and running the install files all it wants to do is to remove the program. I want to re-install it!

Is it possible to remove iOS install files without upgrading?

I have a 5th gen iPod Touch.
I'm not upgrading to iOS 7. The iPod downloaded the install file and tells me it's ready to be installed, the file seems to occupy about 1Gb on th iPod, I would like to remove it to free that space.
Maybe i will download it again or upgrade via iTunes in the future.
Can I remove the file from the iPod?

Antivirus software is blocking Bonjour install - can I remove Bonjour from install file?

My work laptop has some restrictions that prevent me from installing Itunes 10.7 with Bounjour. Earlier it could be done by unzipping the instal file and delete the Bonjour install file, then install Itunes. I have some problems doing it with the new Itunes installer, anf would very much like some suggestions to how it can be done.

I would think first about removing your anti-virus software. If you cannot do that, then you should disable it before doing any system software updates.

Update to 31.0 "stub" file and full install file fail to install Firefox. Removed Firefox and tried and it STILL does not install. Windows 7 OS

The 31.0 stub file failed to upgrade on my XP system but was able to overwrite with full install file. But the Windows 7 refuses to update or overwrite. It gets as far as extracting the files and then just stops.

HP Officejet 4500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - G510n    w/operating system     Windows XP Professional
I installed the printer in February and the disk did not finalize the setup process. I went online and
down loaded the drivers and software that was offered from the HP website.
The printer works, but as the months have gone along, I keep getting updates for the printer and
the system needs to reboot and it does automatically.
Now I am getting a blue screen with a critical dump error message. HP error reporting keeps sending
the same message back to restore to earlier date before the updates. That worked for awhile. Now
HP Error system says that malware has corrupted and needs to remove system file     spooldr.sys
Is this in your driver software. Spooldr is the system that caches pages of data for printing in chronological
order....
Can I uninstall my software and drivers and change to the plain & simple, print and scan to prevent the
spool driver from loading to my system?

Thank you for your input. But, It is amazing that you can tell me that I was infected with rootkit.
Without information as to how to fix, your information is after the fact and useless.
I used the Safety Scanner provided to me by HP.  A full scan didn't detect any Malware in any files on my system. But the last screen dump provided the information that   spooldr.sys was corrupted and needed
to be removed.
Coming into HP Form, I did read on the HP website that my system Windows XP Professional was not listed
and noted that the software may have not been just what I needed. This was the reason for the question
about uninstalling and reinstalling less of the program. I really don't need my printer to print backward and
that is all I see that it is doing that other printers don't.
Besides, Kudos goes to the person from HP who sent the email, suggesting I used the HP Update software and drives recommended for my computer system. Computer, printer is working, back to normal and hasn't taken a dump since, I uploaded software and drives for Windows XP Professional.

[SOLVED] ABS - nasm - install file (nasm.install) does not exist

I was attempting to build the nasm package and I encountered the following error:
==> ERROR: install file (nasm.install) does not exist.
When reviewing the PKGBUILD file there was a line in the header:
install=nasm.install
ArchWiki (PKGBUILD) explains the install directive
The name of the .install script to be included in the package. pacman has the ability to store and execute a package-specific script when it installs, removes or upgrades a package. The script contains the following functions which run at different times
I removed the install= line and everything appeared to work. My question is... does anyone know if the install script it was expecting to find did anything special that is going to cause me grief going forward?

I figured out what I did wrong. I copied only the PKGBUILD file out of /var/abs/extra/nasm folder .. the nasm.install was still in the folder.
Explains why I couldn't find the answer on Google.

How to remove log file on maxdb

Hi,
I have installed IDES ECC 5.0 on MaxDB 7.5. I have 4 files size of 1 GB and I would like to remove it.
Is it possible to remove log files without Complete Data Backup procedure in Database Manager?
Is it helpfull to switch database in Overwrite Log Mode?
We use a testing sistem without needs for recovery procedures.

Hi,
you should not delete the logvolumes.
For your case it would suffice to switch on the auto-overwrite mode of the log.
You can do this most conveniently by using the Database Manager GUI.
1. Put the DB instance in state ADMIN
2. Goto 'COnfiguration' -> 'Log Settings'.
3. From the wizard select 'Overwrite Mode...' and follow the described follow-ups.

Error in .install file

I've found that lot of packages have this error.
In the .install file the follow line:
update-mime-database usr/share/mime > /dev/null 2>&1
should be:
update-mime-database /usr/share/mime > /dev/null 2>&1
because if you are not in the / root when you use pacman the mime type aren't updated correctly

That's a bug. The first '/' should be removed. We are slowly fixing them.

I have installed ECC 6.0 on DB2 /AIX and now trying to apply Kernel Patch 75 but after Uncar of SAR files and moving the same to EXE (/sapmnt/PRD/exe) I am nota ble to copy few files, Follwoing error is coming.
As a reuslt of this error Dispatcher is not starting in PRD.

Hi All,
When a shared library with read-other permission is loaded, it remains loaded (and available) even if no processes are currently using it. This allows faster execution, but may result in a message like "Cannot open or remove a file containing a running program" on installs or rebuilds of application libraries.
Refer to the man page for subroutine dlopen and command slibclean.

Installer Package install file failure ....

Hi there,
Reasondly when I make any AIR Installer Package with any of my Apps which are perfectly working I get always an 'Install File Failure (damaged)' when I want to install them. Anybody has an idea what to look out for as this is only happening just reasondly ???

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
