Removing Java Development toolkit 6.0.160.1

How do I go about Removing Java Development toolkit 6.0.160.1?

In Windows Explorer, locate C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin\ - in there should be file named npdeploytk.dll
Exit Firefox, rename the file for now, (i.e., DISABLED-npdeploytk.dll then restart Firefox and see if the Java Deployment Toolkit is gone. Then you can delete it.
You should update Java to version 1.6.0.20. Start>Control Panel>Java, Update tab, click Update.
NOTE: Each update will reinstall the Java Deployment Toolkit. The security issue causing older versions to be disabled has been fixed, so it won't prompt you to disable the latest version.
If you are on Windows 64-bit, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\new_plugin\ instead.

  • Uninstalling Java Development Toolkit

    Hi,
    I'm having trouble with the Java Development Toolkit plugin for Firefox. I've tried disabling it but it automatically re-enables when I restart Firefox. So I tried uninstalling Java altogether.
    However after uninstalling Java, the Java Development Toolkit plugin still remains in Firefox. Is that strange? Is there a way to uninstall/remove this plugin?
    Thank you.

    the pluin only activates when there is a page that needs that plugin. A better solution would be turning off hardware acceleration but you can still try the Java thing.

  • What is the Java Development Toolkit?

    I have been playing Pogo.com for 6 years, however, the last 2 weeks I am/was not able to play a game. They said to adjust computer settings, I did. They said contact my security, I did. Now, they say to install the Java Development Toolkit.
    What do I do?
    Please help.

  • Disabling Java Development Toolkit

    Hi,
    I've been having some problems with Firefox lately (shockwave plugin crashes, redirects, choppy youtube videos) so I decided to try a few things. I updated all my plugins, cleared the cache, etc. One problem I'm having is with the Java plugins. I noticed that the Java Development Toolkit is known to be vulnerable by Firefox. I tried updating Java to the latest version but it still says that the plugin is vulnerable. I tried disabling it but it re-enables itself when I restart Firefox. I uninstalled Java altogether and the plugin still exists, this is strange correct?
    Anyway I was hoping someone could help me with disabling this plugin permanently. I would also like to know how big of a security risk this plugin is because I had it enabled for a while without my knowledge (I remember Firefox warning me about it and me disabling it but apparently it was re-enabled one way or another)..
    Thank you.

  • Removing the Java Deployment Toolkit?

    Hello,
    I was wondering if it is possible to remove the Deployment ToolKit .dll from the machine or disable it in browser within an infrastructure?  I wanted to see if there are any other functionality that could be impacted I remove the deployJava1.dll from my machine or disable it in browser?
    The link below shows the following information regarding blocking or removing.
    What is the Java Deployment Toolkit?
    What happens if the Java Deployment Toolkit plug-in is blocked?
    By blocking the Java DT plug-in, the Java version detection mechanism is disabled. Therefore, when a user tries to launch a Java applet or application, that requires a specific Java version other than the active Java version on a user’s system, it will fail.
    Does this mean the application will break?  Or just that the detection mechanism will be broken for  the application version check and the app will still run?  I would like to remove these bits to ensure no version checking is done on my systems.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Your "More System Details" doesn't show any Java plugin at all. Are you sure you have the current version installed? This test page will lead you to a download if needed:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp
    If you have Java installed, check whether its two plugins (Java Platform SE and Java Deployment Toolkit) are set to "Never Activate" on the Add-ons page. That disables them. Open the Add-ons page using either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Plugins. Note that disabled plugins cluster at the bottom of the list.

  • Where can I find a portal server for JAVA development?

    Hi, everyone:
    I am looking a portal server which can be used under Windows envorinment and related development environment (toolkit or SDK).
    I have done some search through IBM and SUN's web site and I can not find any portal servers that running on Windows plarform for download and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK).
    Where can I find some trial versions of portal servers running under Windows and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK)? I want to use JAVA to development portal, so Microsoft does not provide any useful information.
    I just want to use basic functions of portal servers so I think other portal servers other than IBM and SUN's can also be used, maybe an open source one can be used. But I do not know what are they and where can I get them. :-)
    So, anyone can help me to introduce a portal server that can meet my needs. Or provide me information where to download IBM or SUN's portal server running under Windows and related Windows development (toolkit or SDK).
    Best regards,
    George

    I just want to use portal server and deploy some
    applications written in JAVA. Have I made myself
    understood?
    Still not clear.
    Do you want a server application that deploys software. For example you create a game. Someone logs into your "portal server" and downloads the game from that?
    Or do you just want to know how to package a java app that you have already written, and then put it on a CD so someone can install that on their computer?

  • How to use KAWT with "Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.3 Beta"?

    Hi!
    Im new to developing java for mobile devices so all of this is pretty confusing for me. I started with installing suns:s "Wireless Toolkit 2.3 Beta" and it works fine but now I want to use awt classes so I started to look it up and thats how I found out about kawt. I followed the tutorial at http://www.kawt.de/ and i was able to use it for Java Wireless Toolkit 1.0.4_02 so that it compiled fine and was run able.
    Then I tried the same thing in v 2.3 but I got a error that looked like this "Uncaught exception java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: awtDemo: /awt/event/ActionListener: Cannot create class in system package." when i tried to run it. It compiled fine when I pressed the build button witch wouldnt have happened if i hadnt installed it correctly. So Im wondering if someone knows were to find a tutorial for installing kawt for "Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.3 Beta" or if anyone knows what might be wrong?
    I'd welcome any help
    Thanks!

    If using the zip install of DSEE, you need to use your own java container to host DSEE. Try downloading the latest Tomcat (http://tomcat.apache.org) and deploying your dscc in it.

    Basically you have a 99.9 percent Window's install so any Windows software issues are Microsoft problems.
    The only thing I can think of is the Microsoft servers were down briefly for maintenance or problems or maybe had a heavy load. If you were using the Auto update try going to the web site directly as they should be on another server.
    You might also try the Microsoft Window XP forums and see what you can find. Maybe search for: "Security Update stalls"?
    From what I've read just turning virus protection off doesn't work sometimes, you may have to UN-install it to get it to work.
    "Permissions" pertains to MAC SOFTWARE only. 3rd party software or Windows files are NOT affected at all by running permissions. Besides, it will only work on a HD with a Mac operating system anyway. You can't even select the Window partition in permissions to try it anyway.
    Good luck....

  • Difference between Java Deployment Toolkit Plug-in and deployJava.js

    I was reading this article:
    http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/deployment_toolkit.xml
    and I get confused about the purpose and use of the DT Plug-in and the deployJava.js.
    I always believe that the Deployment Toolkit is the set of functions of the deployJava.js file (like this link says: http://blogs.oracle.com/thejavatutorials/entry/deployment_toolkit_101) but according to the article there are two parts of the Deployment Toolkit: the Plug-in and the interface for the developer.
    I'm asking about all of this because the deployJava.js fails to detect the appropriate version of Java in some of the machines of our users and I was wondering if the DT Plug-in could help us improve the detection, but I don't know how exactly it detects the Java version and when it does it or how can I use it to solve detection problems?
    Most of this doubts are driven by the question in the article:
    "Does deployJava.js work if the Java DT Toolkit plug-in is disabled? Yes, deployJava.js contains some pure JavaScript functions, which will continue to work even if the Java DT Toolkit plug-in is disabled."
    So... why do I need the deployJava.js if the DT Plug-in exists or vice versa?
    Any help on this matter would be very appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

    Deployment toolkit is combination of native library and javascript helpers. javascript is the only official public API to native library.
    JRE is installed with DT native library that is left on the system if JRE is uninstalled.
    As of now DT native library is only available on Windows.
    Javascript helper functions use native library if it is available but many actions can be performed (with degraded accuracy, etc.) even if native library is not present.
    Note that there is new Javascript APIs for DT as alternative to deployJava.js. it is called [dtjava.js|http://download.oracle.com/javafx/2.0/deployment/deployment_toolkit.htm#BABJHEJA] and is primary API for JavaFX applications.
    However, it also supports pure Java apps and likely will be main JS API for DT going forward (some more testing and bug fixing may be needed).
    Hope this helps to clarify the relationship.

  • Is MIDP 2.0 and CLDC  inluded in Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5 for CLDC?

    I downloaded the "Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5 for CLDC" and "Sun Java Toolkit 1.0 for CDC" and I have JDK 6.
    do I need to download anything else or is this all I need to make applications for cdc and cldc devices??
    please help.
    thank you.

    Most devices used today support MIDP 2.0, but not all of them support CLDC 1.1. If you can do without floats, it's better to restrict yourself to CLDC 1.0 & MIDP 2.0. Devices which only support MIDP 1.0 aren't suitable for today's game development anyway (performance, resolution...) so personally I'd suggest not bothering with them if you don't have to.
    Here are some lists you can use to help you decide what to use, based on how many devices you want to target:
    http://www.j2mepolish.org/devices/platform.html
    These lists aren't complete, so please let me know if you find better ones.

  • Why does Firefox still tell me it's blocking Java Deployment Toolkit after I did the update?

    On the "Mozilla - Check Your Plugins" webpage, I was told that the " Java Deployment Toolkit" was vulnerable. So I did the update. But afterwards I was still told the same problem. Why? And should I care?
    Please see the attached screenshot.
    The funny thing is... I visited two sites that use Java, one being Java.com, but I did not see the black banner message of blocking.

    The Java Deployment Toolkit may be the latest version, but Oracle still hasn't fixed the security faults with that plugin; so Mozilla still has it on the Blocklist and disables it so far as to require the user to use "Ask to Activate". ''A "soft-block" - usable if needed, but needs user-action per implementation''.
    Specifically, do you have a program on your PC that actually needs that Deployment Toolkit?
    Or is your concern merely that it is disabled after updating Java?
    Very few consumer applications even use that Deployment Toolkit, which is intended for people who develop Java applications or who use applications such as various Oracle programs in the workplace.
    Going back to before Oracle bought out Sun Systems Java in 2010, that Deployment Toolkit wasn't being installed with the Java Runtime Environment for users. Java developers had to install a separate Developers Toolkit to get that Plugin - the SDK program had it.

  • Java Wireless Toolkit Setup Help Needed

    I am interseted in mobile application development, and I have recently tried to set up the Java Wireless toolkit 2.0 on my laptop.
    I have spent gours trying to get it to work correctly - still nothing!!
    When it's all installed, I have opened up the sample projects -- e.g. Games.
    When I hit 'Build' I am given the following error:
    Project "games" loaded

    Can someone please tell me what to do?!?
    Is it to do with setting the classpath?? How do I do that??
    What other Java tools do I need to have prior to installing the Wireless toolkit?? JVM?? Where do I get this? How do I install it correctly and set paths correctly??
    Any help would be HUGELY appreciated as I have downloaded so much stuff at this stage I have compleely confused myself!!

    Hey.
    Right, last night I downloaded the latest version of JDK - version 1.5.
    I installed it successfully.
    So in the folder C:\ Java there are two folders: Jdk-1.5_etc and JRE-1.5_etc.
    Next I downloaded and installed the latest version of the wireless toolkit.
    It saw that I had the JDK installed at th correct folder, and it installed at C:\WTK20 - said it installed correctly.
    So, next I select create project - call it hello world.
    Then I place the following code in the src folder of the helloWorld folder:
    * Copyright 2000-2001 by Sun Microsystems, Inc.,
    * 901 San Antonio Road, Palo Alto, California, 94303, U.S.A.
    * All rights reserved.
    package examples.helloworld;
    import javax.microedition.midlet.*;
    import javax.microedition.lcdui.*;
    public class HelloWorld extends MIDlet implements CommandListener {
    private Command exitCommand;
    private TextBox tb;
    public HelloWorld() {
    exitCommand = new Command("Exit", Command.EXIT, 1);
    tb = new TextBox("Hello MIDlet", "Hello, World!", 15, 0);
    tb.addCommand(exitCommand);
    tb.setCommandListener(this);
    protected void startApp() {
    Display.getDisplay(this).setCurrent(tb);
    protected void pauseApp() {}
    protected void destroyApp(boolean u) {}
    public void commandAction(Command c, Displayable d) {
    if (c == exitCommand) {
    destroyApp(false);
    notifyDestroyed();
    I hit build and it builds correctly - no errors - YAY!!.
    I hit run, the phone emulator pops up. I hit launch and:
    An error pops up on the screen of the phone.
    The error below appears in the Wireless toolkit window:
    Project "HelloWorld" loaded
    Project settings saved
    Building "HelloWorld"
    Build complete
    Running with storage root DefaultColorPhone
    Unable to create MIDlet HelloWorld
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: HelloWorld
         at com.sun.midp.midlet.MIDletState.createMIDlet(+14)
         at com.sun.midp
    I'm using version 1.5 of JDK - what have I not done - why won't it run.
    I keep getting Java.lang errors!!!!
    AAAGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It looks like the JCE file which you have downloaded is not the correct one. As you can see some jar files are missing. Check JCE files.
    Check SAP Note 1240081 - "Java Cryptography Extension Jurisdiction Policy" files
