Removing Links in Acrobat Pro

I have been given a document that has a bunch of links to other pages in the document. (Not URL links to web pages.)
I want to remove all the links, and hopefully, change the color of the links back to black text.
I have tried going to Advanced and selecting "remove All Links" but it gives me the message that "0 links" have been removed.
Can I make them go away another way
Thanks!

Those are probably temporary links that appear due to the "Edit > Preferences > General > Create links from URLs" preference setting. You can turn this off, but you cannot control what happens on other user's machines. Regarding the text color, you should change this in the source document before converting to PDF. If you did not create the document, you can change the text color with the TouchUp Text tool, but this might be a lot of work.

Thank you for responding.  I decided to upgrade to Acrobat 11 and it is now working fine.

  • Creating Hyper-Links in Acrobat Pro 8

    Good Day;
I am somewhat new at this so please forgive me if this question has been asked before.
I am running Acrobat 8 pro and I am designing some forms. One of the things I want to do is imbed a hyper-link in some of the text. This hyper link will take the user to the documentation on a webpage.
I have created a form using LiveCycle Designer 8 (part of Adobe Acrobat 8 pro not LiveCycle ES). Within this application there does not appear to be a way to create the hyper-links. I then opened the form in Acrobat 8 pro and the link tool is not available.
Is there a way to create a hyper-link in the form?
I hope I have explained this correctly

If you created the form using Designer, you must make any edits in Designer and not Acrobat.

  • Removing Links from Acrobat 9

I created a page in Quark and used a soft break (Shift/Return) to break a URL to the next line. I then exported to PDF. The link is broken in the PDF. I don't want to fix it with the link tool, I want to eliminate the part of the link that works. Any thoughts on how to do this? Thanks.

Thanks for your help. I have tried both of these options to no avail. The link tool appears to just draw a box over an area you want to add a link. The select object tool (text insertion/pointer tool?) allows me to add a link if I right click on it. If I left click on it, it wants to go to the web (using the broken link).
Any other thoughts would be appreciated. Just a thought...is there any way to disable links across an entire PDF. I know you can do it locally, but I'd like to share a PDF with no links enabled and don't want to worry about the users having to make the change to their preferences.
    Thanks!

  • Acrobat pro V10

I had a PC crash and need the download of Acrobat professional version 10 which I have the product key. Is it still available?

Bill@VT - thanks for your advice.  I have followed it - see below.
CBarron - thanks for your report as to how you solved the problem. - see below.
Followed your steps, removed the nonfunctional Acrobat Pro, rebooted.  Reinstalled the program as Admin, with Norton Security disabled.  Rebooted,  Ran the program as admin, and updated, then, with security disabled, installed the update.  Rebooted.  And now the program loads and runs.   But......
Now I have another problem - the program would only install as a trial - wouldn't accept my license key [it was part of the suite].  Grrrrrrr..  I've had enough of this for this evening.  Tomorrow I will try to solve that problem and will report back.
Once again, thanks for your suggestions and reports.

You can download the trial version (http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html) to convert the PDF back to WORD if you do not have the original. The conversion may not be perfect, but it is typically better than starting from scratch. You may be lucky and get a good result. You might check the settings (in the save screen) to try retain format versus retain text flow. The format version can be a pain to edit since it creates a bunch of text boxes. The flow version may require you to reformat in WORD, but you likely would want to do that anyway.

I have been unable to download adobe acrobat pro, which I purchased on a month to month basis almost exactly 1 year ago, since I purchased it. I just received a renewal email and it had a link to download the program and for the first time when I clicked on the link it actually sent me to a page that had the icon to download now. I clicked on that, but when I went to open the file and start downloading after about 3 minutes into downloading it says an error had occurred. Can anyone help me?

I am a little worried. If you are an existing subscriber why would Adobe need you to download... I wonder if the message is a fake.
I'm not clear, if you've had it for a year, whether you need to download, or you are just following the email?
This page with the icon to download now. Was it a page on adobe.com ?

  • How do I get pdfs to open in IE 9 from web links and not in Acrobat Pro 10.1.12

We are unable to open pdfs in IE9 browser for our users with Acrobat Pro 10.1.12 installed as these files open in AcrobatPro instead. Works fine for those users with Adobe Reader installed.
I have checked in IE that the add-ons are enabled (Adobe PDF, Adobe PDF Conversion Tool, SmartSelect Class, + Adobe Reader[via the Run without permission list] as per the link Acrobat Help | Display PDF in browser | Acrobat, Reader XI
OS is MS Windows 2008 Server R2 + Citrix.
NB Adobe Pro Preferences\Internet\Web Browser Options\Display PDF in browser is disabled to I can't change this.
    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi Howie-G,
You might need to refer this kB file and troubleshoot the same:
Can't view PDF on the web
Also, you might go to registry (Wind+R->type regedit) and navigate to:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
Then, please check that correct default data value is set to the path where Acrobat is installed.
The default installation value is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.1\Acrobat\AcroRd32.exe" (Check for your PC)
Please let me know if that worked for you.
    Regards,
    Anubha

  • Acrobat Pro 9 - URL link to open in browser in background (behind PDF)?

Hi!  I've been searching for days now... does anyone know if it's possible using Acrobat Pro 9 to force a URL link to open in the background, behind a PDF in order to keep the reader at the PDF instead of instantly switching to their web browser?
This is used for a capabilities presentation, where we would like the view to continue reading the PDF but if they click links, the links will load in their browser where they can review them after finishing the PDF - instead of instantly being taken to the browser.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Go the the Applications -> Utilities folder. In there you will find the Disk Utility app. When you run that application, you can select your hard drive. Then click on the Fix Permssions button.

  • How to remove file path location listings from photos and objects in Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF?

After converting a windows-based Powerpoint 2007 presentation to an Acrobat Pro 9.0 PDF, the file path location of all photos and objects are shown in a dialogue box when the cursor is moved over the image as seen in this screenshot below. How can I stop this from happening and remove this feature on my pdf documents?

I saw that referenced on a forum, but it does not seem to address the issue I am having.
As per Adobe Acrobat X Standard * What’s new, the equivalent to the "Tools > Protection > Remove Hidden Information" utility found in Acrobat X Standard is the same as the "Document > Examine Document" feature in Acrobat Pro 9.0. Those tools seem to cover meta data, book marks, hidden text, and deleted or cropped content, but not the file path listings that appear on images and objects converted from Powerpoint presentations and other MS Office programs.
I have reviewed the settings used while creating a pdf, and have also tried the “Advanced > Preflight tool”, but could not find anything to apply to the issue at hand.
Thus, this issue has not been resolved, but seems like it should be an easy fix that anyone who publishes pdf documents would want to use to publish clean, professional documents without anyone seeing the file path location of every object and image shown in the document on their hard drive.

  • Acrobat Pro Extended - how can I add links to 3D-objects?

    Hi there,
I'm using Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0 and I would like to attach links to different filetypes to a 3D-object in a 3D-PDF. I tried to use the link-tool but it seems like that only works for 2D-PDF. Also in the 3D-Reviewer I haven't found a way yet to make it work.
    Thanks
    what eva

It's possible, but not in the simple tools-based way.
The "easiest" way is to add a Javascript to the 3D annotation which hooks the mouse event, scans the event.hits array and reacts based on the contents. If a mesh object is clicked the hits array will contain the mesh name in position 0 (then everything behind it in order). Your only issues arise when you want the "normal" clicking action to work as well (for selecting nodes, etc.), in which case you have to ensure your script passes the events about.
Many of the example files on the acrobatusers.com 3D gallery use that principle, and there are also some in the adobe.com section on 3D Javascript. The idea of a '3D linking tool' is a loooong way off - the way 3D is handled by Acrobat isn't set up to understand things at that level - the UI sees the 3D model as nothing but a black box that can be shouted at.

  • How to remove security from pdf created in Acrobat pro 10 to allow addition of watermark?

    Hi All,
I am a newbie to the forum. I have a dynamic form created in acrobat pro 10. Each time I open the form to add watermark on it, i have a message that says " You don't have sufficient permissions to perform this tasks" and as a result the watermark process will not proceed.
When I created the form, I save the form with no security in the default. But,when you click on the form properties, it will display that this form has some pdf restrictions such as :
Changing the document " Not Allowed" .
    Document assembly " Not Allowed"
    Page extraction " Not Allowed"
Filling of form fields " Allowed"
    Page exratction " Not Allowed"
    and host of other restrictions.
My question is how will I change this dynamic fillable form to allow all options as "Allowed" as this pdf form has some restrictions.
If all options are allowed like in normal pdf, I am able to add the watermark but when a restiction is placed, the message "You dont have sufficient permissions to perform this task is displayed.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to add the watermark as a control for this forms during distribution. If you want me to send the attachment and the message, i would greatly welcome it.
    Many Thanks!
    Lovina

    Hi George,
Yes, the form was created in livecycle designer. So, what can I do to add
the watermark and removed the options of not allowed to allow acrobat to add
    watermark?
