Removing Meta Chain from Schedule

Hi
I got a meta chain scheduled in BBD & BBQ...
Now for my testing purpose i want to remove them from schedule for a 3 nights and want to schedule them back to normal again
How can i do this and do i need to raise any transport request for this

u dont require any transport req for this..
Just remove from the schedule in RSPC using Meny Bar --> Process Chian --> remove from Schedule
And then reschedule the chain with the new time schedule which is after 3 days as per ur requirement..
For scheduling the chain --> double click on the Start process of the PC.
From Variant screen goto the scheduler screen where u can give ur Date and time with the proper periodicify and then save the settings and schedule the chain...
This will work for ur requirement..

Hi Gurus
I have a very basic question, under what circumstances do we take a process chain out of schedule? Till now i was being asked to make occasional changes in Process chains and then revert them back later,i did this activity of changing(adding or removing processes) after removing process chain from schedule( i was asked to do that)...
Now i need to edit recipient list(add one recipient's name ) in alll the process chains where success and error messages are present.
I want to know whether i need to remove the chain from schedule before starting with this activity.
If one chain contains multipe individual chains and every individual chain contains messages,do i need to remove every chain from schedule and edit the recipient list....or this is not required and i can simply open individual chain containing messsages in edit mode and edit the recipient list and save the changes and follow the same for all chains?

We would normally be asked to remove the process chains from schedule during any upgrade activities. or it can also be related to any particular flow - this is in case particular process chains are asked to be removed from schedule. This may be due to adding an intermediate step in between the flow or any such scenario.
And you can change the recipient list when the process chain is running also, because here you will not actually be editing the process chain but will be editing the "message" object. just click "edit message", save the message and come out, do not click save when you are in the process chain maintenance screen.

Removed Process chain frm schedule by mistake

Hi Team,
just to check , i went in to the planing view of the PC & removed 1 of the sub chains from the schedule.
then I do shift f1 (that show current status for all chains in meta chain) .I see that subchain in grey color , in fact it shld hav been in red according to todays loads tht happened.
Tomm this meta chain trigger's at 12:05 noon, i doubt if tht sub chain will get triggered.
Again i checked in planing view for the Meta chain-right clicked on tht particular subchain ->display schedule jobs->It shows BI_PROCESS_CHAIN job scheduled.
even checked the variant , it doesnt show , changed by my id or somethg , even schedule option is same as before.(using meta chain).
can somebody tell me other ways to chk, if sub chain ill schedule tomm or not.if u feel its gonna trigger ,in what case do we go for planing view -->remove from schedule option.

In a meta chain I mean main chain all the sub chains are scheduled as immediate............and if you open the local chain then it will always be in descheduled mode........and it will only trigger when the predecessor process of that lacal chain will completed.............so you cannot remove a local chain from scheduling because by default it will be in descheduled.......to deschedule a local chain you have to right click on the local chain from outside(......ie without going inside the local chain) >> Display scheduled jobs >> from there you have to delete the release job BI_PROCESS_CHAIN...........so I don't think the loacal chain is desheduled...........
But you have said Again i checked in planing view for the Meta chain-right clicked on tht particular subchain ->display schedule jobs->It shows BI_PROCESS_CHAIN job scheduled.......
I don't think there is any problem.....
Is the loacal chain is in grey colour from outside also ? I mean without going inside the loacal chain.........
Still if you have any doubt........do one thing..........deschedule the meta chain and scedule it back again.........

Chain removed from Scheduling,

Hi All
We have a process chain for Loading master data text which falis every few days and logs suggest the chain was removed from scheduling.
In system logs - (SM21)
During the values check for background processing, the attempt to
generate a unique JOBCOUNT for the specified job failed because there
are more than 99 entries with the same JOBNAME / JOBCOUNT ID.
this problem does not happen every day, some days the chain works fine and other days it fails.
Why is this happening ???
i have been told to remove the job from scheduling and put it back and schedule to solve this problem, but what i want to know is, why does it work some times and fail other time ??? whats the cause for this issue???

Hi!
Have u checked monitor when the process chain failed. I think it was removed from scheduling due to datalload failure.
check the monitor and logs to find out more about it.

I guess the easiest way is to access RSPC transaction and then remove it from schedule.
--> execution tab --> remove from schedule.
you can leave the process chain not active also, if it's triggered by an event, this event will not start it (if you dont want to delete or change trigger job)

follow these steps
1.Go to the chain which you want to kill .
2.Go in the log view->top menu bar execution tab.>Remove from schedule.
you are done
Another way (bit complex but will work )
1.Go to the process chain running (which you want to kill) in the log view copy the logid (lef hand side of screen you can get that)
2.Open a new session ,Go to se37 enter function module RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH -->execute it
3.Now again go Log view of the process chain right click on the start variant>display messages>Chain tab
copy the variant ,instance ,date time etc
4.IN execution screen of RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH enter the variant,instance,data time,logid and Type=TRIGGER
status = R.
Actually you will see something like this in input screen

I_CHAIN
I_TYPE   -
>TRIGGER for start variant
I_VARIANT----

Schedule Local process chain (by fac calender) in a daily meta chain

Hello SAP Gurus,
We have a meta chain (e.g. M1) which runs daily. Within this meta chain (M1), a local process chain (e.g. LP1) is attached. This LP1 should run once a month on a Monday (defined in factory calendar). Please note LP1 can not be scheduled separately by factory calendar, as it depend on few activities in daily meta chain. I think LP1 can be scheduled by using the decision in meta chain. I have rough idea of the formula, but not sure. Can you please suggest what should be the suitable formula in decision to schedule it.
Example formula:
DATE_WEEKDAY1(Current Date, 'P1' ) = '1'
Where
DATE_WEEKDAY1 = Calculate weekday Number from Date
P1 = Factory Calendar for one year. Only 12 days (Monday) are open. For example 17 Jan, 14 Feb 2011, etc

No need to change schedule for the entire meta chain. U should schedule local process chain separately.
For local chain change mode
Right click 'Start Variant' -> Maintain variant -- Direct Scheduling -- Change Selections
Enter Date/Time... Select periodic Job
Periodic Values -- Other period -- enter 8 for Hour(s)
If u r using company calender -- Select 'Restrictions' -- enter Calender ID
Save -- Activate - Schedule
Local PC will run for every 8 hrs from the time u specified, and also run in metachain (once in a day if metachain runs daily)

Problem with remove task from schedule in PWA

In our environment problem with remove task from schedule by PWA.
Problem is only when I want to remove few task in the same time, but the operation one by one is correct.
In my opinion problem is with calculation schedule after remove tasks, column ID include wrong value it means that Number ID does not generate in the correct order same of numer
disappear. Click Calculate button on ribbon causes problem with finshed operation and save project.
Problem occurs only machine with IE 11.0 browser without compability mode, on other machine for example on the same project with IE 8,9,10 everything is correct.
Problem appeared recently, earlier everything was OK.

I'm a bit confused. You are now talking about 2 issues.
For the first one, you cannot edit anymore tasks in PWA, with any browser versions? Is it happenonog for any users on any projects? Try the following solutions publish the project from Project Pro and see if it helps. Press CTRL F5 to delete IE cache. Ensure
that your PWA URL is added to the trusted site and/or compatibility sites. Check for the ULS logs or javascript errors.
For the second issue, please refer to my previous reply, this obviously cannot be considered as a bug since it is happening with a non supported browser version and working properly on supported versions of IE.

Unschedule Local Process chain from meta chain

Hi There,
We have a meta chain, in which there are several local chains one for each process area. Due to a transport I have to unschedule one local chain and let the other local chains run. Please let me know what is best way to do it?

Hi.
You can maintain the start variant of the local chain and switch it to Direct Scheduling. You can leave it in the "Master" chain and let that one run normally, however, your local chain will fail and no following chain will be triggered. So this approach could only be used if your local chain is a dead-end.
I would consider making a copy and delete the local chain. Then run this one. Make the copy either right in production, because it is an exception anyway, or in development and transport to prod. Switch to running the copy in either case and switch back to original chain and delete the copy (again either straight in prod or in dev and transport the deletion).

Stopping local chain from the meta chain

Can any one let me know is there any option to stop a local chain from the meta chain....
I have a meta chain in which 13 local chains are there.
In those 13 chains i want to stop one particular chain ,but i dont want to delete that local chain from the meta chain.
and below this local chain another dependent chain is also there.
which will start execute after that chain(which i want to delete)irrespective of the status whether the above chain is pass or fail.
can any one help me in this regards

No, you cannot . The best solution I have is to change the local chain to bypass all activity in the local chain. This way the meta chain will run but nothing will happen within the local chain and the meta chain will continue to the next local chain.

PS- Another idea, change the meta chain and replace the local chain with an ABAP program which will execute the local chain (use FM RSPC_CHAIN_START). Then you can change the ABAP program to decide whether or not to execute the local chain.

How to remove the Failure Chain from report header?

I want to remove the Failure Chain from the report header. Failure chain displays only the 1st test which is failed rather than displaying all failed teststeps. so i want to remove this failure chain section from the report header.
Please can anyone suggest me how to remove that. ?

Am I right in thinking you want to be able to display all the failed steps displayed in the failure chain and you are using a Test Stand version 2 or later?
As default Test Stand only reports the first test that failed in the failure chain. However, it is possible to expand the failure chain to show all failed steps. Below is included a KnowledgeBase article that will highlight the process for doing this:

Meta Chain is missing from Log view

Dear Experts,
I have a strange problem in Process Chains. In the Planning view a Meta Chain was linked to other one but when I execute the PC and goto the Log view one Meta Chain is missing.
What could be the problem?

Please check whether the meta chain trigger option is selected or not.i think its happening meta chain trigger option is not selected, so only first chain is running and the subsequent chain doesnt get triggered.thats why in the log view its showing only one chain.

Failed meta chain maintenance in Process chain in SAP BI

Hi all,
I have a Process chain having the meta chain of master data population.When successful , proceeds with the further steps in process chain. It has been scheduled in midnight.
After monitoring the PC , found the error in the master meta chain , so i repeat the step.
Here , after success of meta chain all steps gets running down the line till the end step in PC.
I do not want to re-run the steps below meta chain after repeat step.
Any Ideas to ignore the re-run ??

Hi,
If your Process is still running(Yellow color status) then right click it and go to Schduled Jobs. On this you will go to Job Overview there you can press STOP.
Else go to the SM37, there you can go and select your process using your process ID and STOP it.
And if you want to kill the complete process chain then go for Remove from Schedule.
Different Ways to stop process chain
1)SM37 -->Kill Job
2)SM50/sm66- ->Kill process
3)RSPC>Job Log>Make the process RED forecefully.
4)RSPC>Process chain> main Menu"Remove from Scheduling" OR
5)se37-->RSPC_API_CHAIN_INTERRUPT
give RFC BW system name(technical) and process chain name(technical)
Steps 1 -3 stops the chain running in process
Steps 4-5 stops the chain AFTER the current job which is running is completed as sucessful or Failure by nature.

Start Varient is not getting trigger in Meta Chain.

Problem is, there are few Meta Chains Start Varient is not getting trigger automatically, it is getting red and continuing further process,
when i check its logs also it is not giving any logs
