Removing NetUI Facets and Upgrading JSF

Even though 11g has promoted the use of JSF and talked of deprecating the NetUI, the facets and frameworks for 10gR3 are littered with NetUI dependencies.
Creating a Web Portal Project gives you the capabilities to use JSF 1.2, but doing this requires you to select JSTL 1.2 and Dynamic Web Modules 2.5, but deselect WebLogic Control Extensions, Beehive NetUI, Beehive Controls, Portal Customizations Framework, Portal Framework, Portal Visitor Tools, and WSRP Producer. Not sure why upgrading to the newer (obviously not the newest version of the API), requires removing all these dependent frameworks.
How will disabling all these project facets effect my Portal project? Are the specific things that I will not be able to take advantage of?
It just doesn't make sense to use a product like WebLogic Portal 10gR3 (released within this year) and then downgrade JSF to version 1.1 just so I can use NetUI...that sounds totally backward thinking.
Thanks...jay

The forthcoming 11g version of the WLP product will include better support for JSF 1.2 in portal web projects, and remove the hard dependency on Beehive Netui and Controls.
In WLP 10gR3 (10.3.0), you can use JSF 1.2 -- it just requires a bit of manual setup. Please see http://download.oracle.com/technology/products/weblogic/portal/weblogic-portal-jsf-whitepaper.pdf. There are instructions (Section 4.4) on how to setup your project in Workshop to utilize JSF 1.2 in a portal-enabled web project.

I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if one component won't install normally.
If needs be, the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility (MS Installer "Fixit") may be able to help force through the installation.

    I need space!

First let me disabuse of a misconception:  All Adobe upgrades are FULL installers.  Whether you buy them as upgrades or new versions does not make an iota of difference.  The upgrade installers do not need to find a prior version installed, they just prompt you for the old serial number as well as the old one, and they do not rely on the old version in the least.
Second, the time to uninstall an older version is BEFORE upgrading to a newer one.  Otherwise, the uninstaller from the older versions will mess up with your new install.  There are a gazillion files that are named the same and in the same locations as the new one.
Your best bet now is to uninstall ALL the Photoshop versions you have installed, including the newest one, one by one, then run the Adobe CS Cleaner Tool, then run Repair Permissions from Apple's Desk Utility, and finally re-install the latest version.
The other alternative, if your boot HD is large enough (very doubtful in case of a laptop like a Mac Book), is to leave all versions on it.
    Your choice.

Not easily, unless you backed up your data.
Did you?  If not, let that be a lesson to never install anything without a backup:

You can't downgrad the OS on your iPhone.  It's not suported by Apple.
One way to help make the icons stand out a bit more is to use a solid, dark background image.

  • I restore and upgrade my Second Hand iPhone 4s and unfortunately the Find My iphone is ON. Is there a way to Activate it since I cannot contact the previous owner?

I bought an Ipad 4 for my wife and iPad Air 2 for my daughter and I have just bought a Macbook Pro with retina display for me. The whole family is an Apple products fan due to its reliability and security. Never know that it could be a disadvantage also. I bought a second hand iPhone 4s from a friend as he is short in caash, and I've been using it for awhile. I "restore and upgrade it" without thinking or checking the Find my iPhone settings, unfortuately it is turned ON. Although the previous owner removed the phone lock, I never asked for his icloud account as I intend to use the phone only for calling. I cannot contact him as his contacts and email address were erased when I restore the iPhone.
I have learned a hard lesson since Apple security is impregnable, my iPhone 4S will just be an expensive paper weight.

    no.
without the previous owners credentials the phone is useless to you.

  • Issues installing 10.2.3 and upgrading to 10.2.8 on an iBook G3

    Hello all
We have recently acquired an older iBook (500 MHz, dual USB, I think) from a colleague, and we are trying to make it functional as just an internet computer or possibly as a word processor (i.e. install MS office on it). Nothing too spectacular or anything.
Anyway, I did a clean install of 10.2.3 from a bootable version (not from the startup disks), and things were pretty happy. I then proceeded to connect it to the internet and upgrade to 10.2.8. The first round (via software update) went well (installed 10.2.8, new quicktime, etc.). After restart, software update found all of the security updates, so I downloaded those. Upon restart after installation of the security updates, the machine seemed slower, and I got a lot of the spinning beach ball of death. I tried to shut down the computer, but it was frozen. I tried a force shutdown to no avail, and I finally disconnected the power supply and removed the battery.
Upon restart, the hard drive now appears stuck. The gray screen with the apple comes up, as does the cursor with the circle thing, but the hard drive reads to a point, then clicks and starts over. This happens on a continuous loop, no matter how many times I use the power key to shut down and try again. Also, I cannot boot from cd, whether I hold down c or use the option key. It still only boots to the gray apple screen, and it looks like it wants to boot from disk (the drive runs), but eventually it tries to recognize the hard drive and the same thing as above (hard drive appears stuck) hapens. Any idea on what happened, and are we screwed, or is there anything we can try?
    Thanks in advance any help.

    iBook G4 1.2 GHz and an old PowerMac G3 133MHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    John,
I think we can say that the OSX 10.2.8 installation is hosed, whether by the security updates or by the forced power-down.
This brings me back to a forced power-down I had to do years ago on a Unix minicomputer, left the devices and interface cards in an awful state. I had to disconnect everything, power up and power down again to get it able to boot normally again.
I think you will have to get the cd-boot working again, at least try a few more times, with an original CD, even just to run DFA. With the other kit you have, I can see that you're not a beginner, so we could talk about jumping into open firmware and trying to boot from CD from within there. But try the CD boot a few more times before we have to resort to this.

  • Tune up and upgrade or buy new?

I have a iBook G4. It is starting to show wear and age. It needs a new battery (doesn't hold any charge)and a new power cord (fraying at the barrel). I have very little memory left and it runs very slow at times.
I was thinking of buying a new battery, power cord, and upgrading the RAM (current 512MB) and then possibly buying an external hard drive. Would this be a wise investment? Or should I retire this and look into investing into a new computer?

    running my Ibook cooler
after owning my Ibook for more than one year, I finally figured out how to keep it cool and not overheating, which it would make the screen flicker and go blank, first of all I removed the bottom cover and drilled many holes in patterns including on the metal shield, this made a big improvement, I can feel the heat coming from the holes, but still not good enough, because I wanted to play /record Quick time movies and the system would heat quickly within 20 minutes and using a fan underneath,
I did some search and found G4fan control, http://www.andreafabrizi.it/?g4fancontrol:download
installed it and, I reset the defaults temp @ 130 and no more trouble as the matter of fact I have been recording audio with it while the temperature in the room was near 90 and the the graphic chip sensor never reached above 125 I have been recording for 3 days straight, how about that.
I also installed an Audio recording Jack so that I can transfer my audio cassettes.
    Thanks for reading

  • I'm using 10.6.8 and upgraded facetime to 1.0.4 and now it won't work 1

Facetime kept saying it was connecting then hanging up so I looked to see if there was an update from my version and there was. I upgraded to 1.0.4 and now it says "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
I have sent in a request 5 days ago and still heard nothing. Anyone else able to fix this?

If you've used the old version of Facetime on your Mac just open AppStore and it'll show up as a free update. Click on "Update", wait for the ~18 MB download to complete and install … and you're good to go.
I'm also using Facetime on an iPad, which was still running iOS v5.x … and lo and behold, Facetime stopped working there too: it just wouldn't connect anymore. Tried and tried again, no dice. So, a couple of days ago, I finally had to bite the bullet and upgrade to iOS 7.1.1 … the latest release, which I didn't really wanted to do (mostly due to esthetical reasons/bad GUI design). Anyway, Facetime issues were fixed by upgrading to iOS 7.1.1 … provided, the other participant in a chat is also running the latest iOS on his device.
Today, Apple finally announced that there will be no seperate fix for Facetime on iOS devices still running older versions, e.g. iOS 5.x/6.x. The Facetime troubles with older iOS versions are said to be due to an outdated security certificate (AFAIK it's true). The only way for users to fix this is by upgrading to the latest version of iOS for any given device (note, that it can be a version 6.x for older iPhones, iPads and iPods, but will still fix Facetime issues by installing a new and valid security certificate). What bugs me most, is the fact that now I'll also have to update iTunes to the abysmal version 11.x in order to regain the ability to sync my iPhone/iPad with my Macs. I really hate iTunes 11 because the interface just plain *****, unless you like to play hide-and-seek with GUI items!
The next big no-go (and a good reason to throw out Apple products after 25 years) is the fact, that Mavericks no longer lets me locally sync my Macs with my iOS devices (via cable or WiFi). Because Apple decided to remove local SyncServices I'd be forced to move all my stuff through friggin' iCloud, courtesy of ******* NSA!

iTunes just downloaded and upgraded itself without my consent while I was at work. Is this a new Apple policy ? Am I no longer owner of my own machine ? Isn't it up to me when and if I want to upgrade something ?
    /Tommy

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
Can you launch your iTunes now?

  • Beehive NetUi Tags and Controls in Workshop 10.1!

    Hi,
I have a question, whenever I tried to create a Beehive netui and controls project on workshop studio, it asks me for the WSL 10.1 runtime, it means Beehive netui tags and controls are dependent on WLS runtime, if I do not have WLS runtime installed in workshop runtimes, I can not use beehive netui and controls in my project. So, it means, it is only weblogic specific implementation in Workshop, I tried with other containers runtime like JBoss and it did not work. Is there any way I can implement beehive netui tags and controls that is an open source using Workshop on other application containers without WLS run time? If someone tested this kind of scenario and developed some applications and had some hands-on experience, please respond to my question. I will greatly appreciate any comment and/or help.
    Thanks,
    -Gary Hassan

    Hi Gary,
The Beehive tooling features available in Workshop are currently only supported with a WebLogic 9.2 or 10.x Runtime.
However, regarding your question on using Beehive runtime classes with a non WLS runtime, there is documentation available on the Apache site on building and running against a Tomcat server. In this case, you will need to add the beehive library jar as any other party jar instead of using the beehive facets and library modules.
